 Digicub that looks beautiful .....
Can't wait to play that oh wow looks so nice:D

11-09-2004, 07:47 AM
thanx peeps, there'll be a full scenario, finished resort park and empty landscape for download soon....more screens to com 2morrow!

11-09-2004, 08:32 AM
not much of a secret :(

11-09-2004, 08:38 AM
LOL...thanks for that dean[au]

Why are the [IMG] and [screenshot] tags playing up on the forums today? The above screens look stretched onmy monitor, do they on anyone elses???

11-09-2004, 10:06 AM
They look fine on my monitor... Great park too! How many tiles is it?

11-09-2004, 10:22 AM
...would you believe I got a bit over-excited for my first RCT3 park and went full-on for the 254x254 maximum map?!?!?!

The resort will not fill all themap though...Im putting in some cool landscapes to frame the park itself against, think it'll make it look more 'real'....

11-09-2004, 10:26 AM
I agree 100 %... And you do that via the map buttom in the custom Scenario and then mark the land as "belonging to the park" afterwards - right?

11-09-2004, 10:35 AM
how did all those big mountains form in the backround?

11-09-2004, 10:39 AM
Yup, increase the map size via the size toggles and you're away! I love building BIG parks mate....the screenshots above are construction pics from the 1st of 4 areas though :

Windy Creek City ( Western / Frontier )
Forbidden Forest ( Spooky/ Gothic )
Dark Continent ( Jungle / Ancient )
Futurama ( Sci-Fi / Futuristic )

When in the scenario editor you can select your backdrops from a drop downlist. The rest I landscaped myself ( and they're just to start, Ivegot some real landscaping to do tonight!!! )

11-09-2004, 11:22 AM

and good luck with your park man!

11-09-2004, 11:22 AM
That is amazing... Has to be the best park I have seen in production so far... Really makes me wanna go mad and try and do that sort of thing myself but I have got a lot of learning to do.

Well Im inspired I must go play the game some more.

11-09-2004, 11:26 AM
Well you certainly got me interested again... I have not been playing the game much because I'm waiting for the EU patch :(

I never noticed that you could make parks this big though. That's SO cool!!! Maby I should just screw the customers and start playing now... :D I'm at work at the moment...

If you'll allow me to give you some constructive critisism (I'm gonna give it anyway :p)... I don't like the massive path area in Windy Creek and you should have some more vegetation on the mountains... Besides that I think it's VERY GOOD!

Regards Nuppe

11-09-2004, 11:33 AM
Well I haven't touched the scenarios yet...waiting for the EU Patch this week then I get stuck into them...

Ive always built huge 'real-world' style parks in RCT1 & RCT2, so I can't stop now!

Nuppe...I love to build large flat 'paved' areas in my parks,it makes them more realistic to me, having a maze of single paths is not something that you find in real theme parks is it! People would just walk over the grass to get to the rides instead of walking in zig-zag motions and at 90 degree angles like the peeps in RCT1&2!!! It also lets you stand back and admire your rides from a greater distance [ at ground level ] - I used to have path-finding problems building like this in RCT1&2 but after a test run in RCT3 the peeps love strolling about in these large areas! Bless 'em!

...and don't worry about the empty areas in the screenshots, this is a work in progress ...as for that mountain Nuppe, well you wanna see what's gonna go there! :D

11-09-2004, 11:46 AM
Same here...

I also try to get as much realism as possible. Wether big open areas or pathways are most common I don't know. Guess it just depends to the individual parks. All here in Denmark have almost no open areas but only pathways though... Anyway - I do see your point to some extend... I'll try to make some open areas tonight...

And... Excited to see what will go on the mountain side... ;)

Nice to have a "creative" talk without all that complaining you usually see... :D I just love Atari for splitting up the forums!

11-09-2004, 11:57 AM
yeah, thenew layout for the forums is great! Keep all of the technical problems in one area...and let RCTgamers chat in the other parts!

Hey u from Denmark?????

Im going to Copenhagen in the first week of December and am going to Tivoli Gardens, do you know if the B&M Floorless coaster 'Daemon' is open at the park in December????

11-09-2004, 12:05 PM
Think you've asked me that before... :D Yup - I'm still from Denmark and the Daemon is still closed throughout the winter I'm afraid! :(

I'ts a great coaster though... Here's a link for the Tivoli Gardens (UK version): http://www.tivoli.dk/composite-297.htm

11-09-2004, 12:08 PM
Aha! I couldn't remember if it was you or not...apologies Nuppe!
Still looking forward to my [first] trip to Denmark, still wondering if any of the rides are going to be open though - if not it's Christams shopping for 5 days non-stop:D

OMG - I'm so imbarresed! I was just checking and saw that too... Now I'm the one to apologize!!! :)

I would also recommend The Odin Express, or The Roller-Coaster which is the world's oldest wooden Roller-Coasters in use today! :D

11-09-2004, 03:04 PM
Great start man!!! Beautifully put together..... I have a lot of learning to do, hehe.

11-09-2004, 05:14 PM
this encourages me to buy the game just that much more, but i have a hard time spending 40 dollars and up on any game.

rarely will i even spend 30 on a game any more

11-09-2004, 09:01 PM

11-10-2004, 05:16 AM
Cheers peeps....more screens to come in the next couple of days....

11-10-2004, 06:01 PM
that looks great!

11-11-2004, 04:55 AM
Yup, I know the 'pointy' mountains looked a bit fake, I've smoothed them out now - to be honest it was just like that while I was working on the Wooden Mine Ride that weaves its way around them - also the large mountains that are sand coloured with snow on top now host a great Steel Looping Coaster called 'Silver Bullet' - it sits on top of a large Western themed restaurant. I want to put in a large flat ride in the middle of the pathing but can't decide - TNT revolution or something else???? Hmmmm....a LOT more Western theming has gone in now, quite a lot is 'sunk' into the landscape to give it a ghostly, abandoned town feel - I really wanna work on getting it finished over the weekend before posting some more screenies for all of you to provide feedback on.

11-11-2004, 05:53 AM
even though you have created large amount of land, arent you able to buy more.

David Braben said that you can make parks as big as you want, but at the cost of performance as they get larger

11-11-2004, 06:28 AM
No, can't get any bigger than 254 x 254 grid....

11-11-2004, 06:37 AM

You could put in the Mine Drop ride... It looks rather boring when you ride it but looks good from the outside and for some reason all my peeps are crazy with it... :D

11-12-2004, 04:37 AM
Your wish is my command Nuppe! Got great mine ride in there now....working on it over the weekend and will have new screens on Monday...

11-12-2004, 06:13 AM
I managed to increase my map size to 254x254, but I can't own any more than the original 132x132 or build outside of that.

How did you do it?

I started a Disneyland recreation but it wouldn't all fit in the 132x132, as you can see. I desperately want to build the whole thing, and 254x254 would allow that.

11-12-2004, 06:18 AM
You canincrease the 'map' size to 254 x 254 but to 'OWN' the land you must use the 'Land Owned By Park' tool that is on the right of the same box - simplyzoomout, click and dragover the whole landscape - have fun!

11-12-2004, 06:22 AM
Thanks for writing back! i did try that, but the blue grid selector just disappears outside the original 132x132 limits. You've been able to own all 254x254 and build structures and rides on it? Am I missing something? Maybe it only works in the EU edition...

11-12-2004, 06:31 AM
No,Im sure it will be inthe US version as well mate, afraid Im at work a the moment so I cant check for you right now! I created the park in the scenario designer though - NOT sandbox mode - and then saved the file under 'Parks' then opened it upin Sandbox to play with - maybe that's whatyouneed todo?

11-12-2004, 07:11 AM
Thanks for your help! I think the trick was to turn the fence on and off before adding any new columns or rows to the map. I did that, added the max and suddenly I was able to select the entire map to own.

Thanks! I can't wait to see your beautiful park finished!!

11-12-2004, 07:35 AM
thanks man! I'll post some more screens onmonday sokeep an eye out for them! Enjoy playing RCT3, it's a wonderful game, and post up anything you do for the rest of the RCT Community to see:D

11-12-2004, 08:41 AM
I posted this on onother forum, you might find it interesting. People on www.nedisigns.com (including myself) were having trouble with the scenario editor not allowing you to build ride entrances and exits in newly-owned land...

OK. I had a major breakthrough. I discovered how to build within the entire 254x254 park in Scenario Editor. You're correct - initially you can't build a ride with entrances and exits outside the original 132x132.

Until you do the following:

1. Open Scenario Editor

2. Open scenario that you already increased the map size and owned all the land previously

3. Turn the fence ON (I randomly chose laser fence)

4. Go to the Own land dialog again and own the rest of the park again. You'll notice the fence expanding as you grid-over and own land.

5. To test this, I saved the scenario again, closed the game, restarted RCT3, opened scenario from the Play/Custom Scenario routine and was able to build anything with entrances and exitsin all four corners of the 254x254 park.

11-12-2004, 08:48 AM
Hey, that's interesting, I'll have to try that out tonight - thanx!

BTW I love www.nedesigns.com and have been visiting it for years( since RCT1 first was released ) for loads of inspiration, they're some very talented park-makers on there. I post infrequently but find it very cliquey and insular, and that they don't respond very well to outsiders! Oh well, fab pics of parks and I've got a lot of respect for the whole crew.

11-12-2004, 09:22 AM
Cool man, be sure to post up some screenshots on Monday - I'll have some new ones to post as well! Tell your girlfriend you've got work to do ....:haha:

I'll try that but I don't think she'll buy it... Although I did buy her a new dishwasher today - maby I can use that against her... :haha:

Looks like there are some talented people at www.nedesigns.com. But no RCT3 stuff :(

11-12-2004, 09:32 AM
nedesigns is slowly making the transition... They;re pretty resistive to new stuff and people, but even they cannot deny the POWER of RCT3!!!

LOL...love it! Yeah, all of the old school parkmakers are pretty stuck in their old ways of creating in RCT1/2...heck, on nedesigns.com they've still got people making parks in Loopy Landscapes!!! Haven't they got any money to buy the new versions or what? Poor souls, that's why we need to get busy and start making some awesome parks that'll get peeps talking...so get busy guys! :D

11-12-2004, 05:57 PM
Looks very nice. Good job! :)

 I can't get that to work... You make a Custom Scenario and the play it in sandbox? I can't locate the scenario file I've made - only when I chose to play a Custom Scenario. I can't seem to choose where I save the Custom Scenario either?!? :(

Please help Digi... I wan't to play my scenario in sandbox so I can change night and day and so on...

11-12-2004, 06:04 PM
Never mind... I think I found the solution now! :D

Sorry for spamming :p

11-12-2004, 06:22 PM
Hey good job! :D Would you please upload it to www.rct3exchange.com when you get it finished?? Pretty Please? I did the same thing and went for the BIG park. I have uploaded it to www.rct3exchange.com as well, but it's not as nice, being my first park! :(

Keep at it!

11-12-2004, 06:49 PM
Ok I guess im just blonde but at first i thought it was a real new park lol. Bye the way the park looks great.

11-12-2004, 07:15 PM
It's looking good. I like the screenshots! How many different Worlds are there going to be??

11-16-2004, 07:29 PM
I liked your RCT 2 designs, they were the best stuff on the net,

and these pics look absolutely awesome! Seems you will be getting the best RCT 3 designer too!

Your the builder!
