A few thing's I've managed to create and are up for downloading for your RCT3 pleasure:

-----
I noticed that a rocket I've always liked was missing, which was the big glittering sphere explosion, so while I was fooling around to get used to the editor, I started making it. The results are below.

The first custom Firework I made using the Advanced FW Mixmaster (accessible by naming a peep in the game 'Guido Fawkes'), moved from another thread:

Alright I made my first custom firecracker. Here is a screenshot and a video plus the firework itself:
Glittering Sphere - Custom Built Firework: Save this file to the game fireworks folder ( \Atari\RollerCoaster TycoonŽ 3\Fireworks\ ) - *NOT* the My Documents one (http://www.saunalahti.fi/hanneku/GlitteringSphere.frw)

Glittering Sphere - Custom Built Firework Video (http://www.saunalahti.fi/hanneku/custom-firework-glitteringsphere.avi)

http://www.saunalahti.fi/hanneku/gsphere.jpg

----------

Alright here's the second bang. All the same stuff this time; video, pic and the file itself:

Starry Night - Custom Built Firework: Save this file to the game fireworks folder ( \Atari\RollerCoaster TycoonŽ 3\Fireworks\ ) - *NOT* the My Documents one (http://www.saunalahti.fi/hanneku/StarryNight.frw)

Starry Night - Custom Built Firework Video (http://www.saunalahti.fi/hanneku/starrynight.avi)

http://www.saunalahti.fi/hanneku/starrynight.jpg

----------

Instructions to installing user-made structures:
- Download the files
- If they are in form of an archive (zip, rar, ace), simply unzip all the included files into your /my documents/rct3/structures/ folder. If not, just save the files in that same folder. :)

Anyways, here's the first buildings I've made. I've now finished the Western Town themed building set. The pack now includes a total of 8 different structures and a complete town with gunfights and all. The screenshot is from the town layout.

Wow, great job with those buildings, and the fireworks are awesome. Going to have fun playing with these, thanks.

How long did it take you to figure out the advanced editor? I haven't had much time to play with it so I haven't quite firgued out what each toggle (each piece you can edit) does. Any chance you learned through a tutorial you could direct me to? :)

Great job on the fireworks. I look forward to see more in the future!

nice fireworks! I saved them in to theRCT3/Fireworks folder in My Documents and they showed up fine.... I'm using XP which understands "merging" folders from different directories. Perhaps earlier versions of Windows you need to put it in the game's Fireworks folder?

I fooled around with the editor, took me some 30mins to figure everything out. I wrote a tutorial to www.rct2.com:s board, I'll paste it here:

Look at pre-made fireworks, each of the blast pictures represent one event. Here's the usual formula:

1st blast: Tells how long the whole firework's life is (how long it takes for it to disappear) and the general colour of the firework.

2nd blast: The very brief explosion on the ground & sound effect of a launching firework

3rd: The rocket going up. This even't speed must usually be >600 (bigger than 600), which takes a long long time to input manually. That's why you're practically forced to modify existing fireworks to create your own.

4th: The trace that follows the rocket going up (for example smoke) - this might not exist on all fireworks.

5th: The explosion in the sky, where the real effect begins from. Very brief, usually paired with a sound.

6th+: Whatever happens in the sky...

I might also add a few important values when dealing with moving particles (there are also a lot of other values to generate exactly the effect you want):

Speed - The initial speed of the particle, after this it is affected by other factors, including:
Drag - How much the particles slow down while moving through air
Gravity - How fast the particles drop down; can also be negative
UpScale - Difficult to explain; try it out yourself

Yes it works fine that way too. The instructions are just to make sure no one has compatibility issues.

Oh there *is* a rct fireworks site. Great!

I haven't got any new fireworks planned for now. I've started making them after I notice that there's a firework that's missing from the game that I'd like to use in a display. If you have any request of a firework you'd like to see, feel free to describe it as close as possible and I just might start working on it.

Actually there is one firework, the planet kind of one with a sphere and a circle around it that I might do at some point, but not right now. (real life constraints among other things)

I think that is too brief. Please tell me you have a MUCH more detailed version of the tutorial. I don't know what "blasts" are adn what does it mean when you create "fireworks(in your editor)" below more fireworks. Usually looks like this: 0...0....0

Actually, if you change the "Life" of that element you change the altitude of the rocket. Speed changes the particle speed in relation to something else. The particle editor is kinda hard to explain things.

[EDIT] I am wrong about the above! Nevermind! [EDIT]

I liked what you have done with it!

Did you notice you can change the shape of the particle?
I think that is a very cool part of the editor. I didn't notice it for a long time. I might use that to make some very funky fireworks for a Sci-Fi area.

Hi, i downloaded some custom fireworks and putted them in the RCT3/fireworks folder in the my documents folder but they don't show up in the game when i try to open a custom fireworks.
I noticed that one already came with the game is called with the extension: *.fwd in the manual it says *.fws and the one i downloaded is called *.frw

What's the difference and is this the reason they don't show up in my game when i try to load one.

Thanks.

I have replaced the western buildings in my first park with your so be sure I will use them. Not long after I saved the park the game crashed and corrupted it. But I was able to get the bak version to work. Luckily I saved my space coaster.

Hopefully their patch this week or the next patch will fix the crashing off a black screen.

Again thanks for the western buildings and I hope you and others will build a tone of em.

Cheers:D

Taking the RCT3 community by a new object a day!

FWD= FireWork Display (AKA in the manual as FWS=FireWork Show) a series of fireworks timed to music.
FRW=Firework - an independent shell or rocket.

You'll need to make a new show with the new FRW files in it, or edit an existing show and add the new firework. Existing shows wouldn't have the new fireworks in them to be set off...

Thanks, so if i understand right, FRW files are firework types that you can add to a base shell? When so, where do i put those FRW files? Do i have to put them in the Fireworks folder in the Program Folder or in the RCT3/Fireworks folder in My Documents folder? I guess it must be the Program Folder, because i can't see those when i try to add them to a base shell.

Thanks for the info :-) Manual about fireworks should have been better documented.

Is there anyway to sync a firework show with a section of track. Like when a train passes over a certain section of track, and a custom firework show fieres up ahead of the train and the train goes through the sparks and all dramatic like. Is there anyway to do that, I though I saw something where there was.
