What an awesome idea. I can't wait to try it. Do all those particles slow the computer down at all? This is freakin' awesome.

Whoa. First of all, DUH to me for not noticing the open fireworks editor. Two, that is a LOT of particles.

Actually 3000 is typical for the default fireworks.

I was able to recreate the "lazer" look with only 1 particle.

There is the main Parent and only 2 children

*-*-*

I adjusted the first child with 1 particle and stretched it to the max using the circle shape from the pre-selected shapes and gave it a longer life and neg. gravity. I haven't tried deleting the 2nd child particle because I didn't want to mess with it. But I don't think it's needed.

I can be more specific if you want me to later when I'm at my computer. I'm at work now. I'll post screens later.

The lazer shoots radomly and looks pretty real.
I made red, blue, green, and yellow.

Thanks for the idea.:D

Well, the problem I'm having with this is that the particles are still appearing a while after the laser has been turn off. I have tried increasing the speed considerably but have not had much luck with the actual "lifetime" of the laser beam.

I think we're getting close, I'll keep working on it!

BTW, the reason I structured the effect like I did was because I wanted to create two separate laser beams from the same emitter.

Maybe if we invert the lifetime of the particles, then we might get something to work?
