Well, I have been playing this sandbox for almost 20 hours trying to get all the details, but I've reached the end! Everything west of Southwest Territory is complete (except American Eagle). For some reason, my game crashes every time I try putting in any more rides. The shots of Iron Wolf are RIGHT after I put it in, because usually I have about 1-2 minutes before RCT3 crashes.

Unfortunately no. I don't know if it's my computer or the game or what...but when I put Iron Wolf in the park, the game will crash. So, I figured, that's as far as I can go. I really wanted to do the rest of the park, but I don't know what I can do. I still had 3 rollercoasters to do, but looks like they won't make it into this park.

...Unless of course, you know some way for this game to stop crashing?

Ouch that is harsh that the game crashes and I have no idea how to fix it

Well, what you could do is save the coaster tracks tell us where they are supposted ta' go & see if anyome else can compleate the park or if it crashes on them as well....

Well, here's my file. It's 992 Kb.

This one is with Iron Wolf. I didn't get a chance to finalize a lot of things before it crashed. See if it works, and if you can, could you tell me some framerates you're getting? Mine slows to around 4-5 fps.

Oh yeah, and if it works, tell me what you think.

SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA SANDBOX PARK DESCRIPTIONS

AREAS COMPLETED
- Carousel Plaza
- Hometown Square
- Mardi Gras
- Orleans Place
- Yankee Harbor

AREAS PARTIALLY COMPLETED
- County Fair
(Only Deja Vu & Farmer's Market)
- Yukon Territory
(Only Iron Wolf & Logger's Run)

AREAS NOT STARTED
- Southwest Territory

RIDE NOTES
Big Easy Balloons (Mardi Gras)
- You'll notice that it's a Ferris Wheel. I couldn't find a similar ride to it in RCT3.

Farmer's Market
- I didn't even try to look up what stores are in here. I just added a whole bunch of food stores.

Iron Wolf
- Probably has no queue paths or exit paths. Game crashed before I could put them in.

Roaring Rapids
- I couldn't find any pictures or details of the track, so I just had to use whatever RCT3 came with.
- For some reason, the raft constantly gets stuck somewhere in the ride and never fully returns to the station for people to ride on.

Scenic Railway Hometown Station
- I was planning to finish the track once I finished Yukon Territory and County Fair, but since it doesn't look like I'll be getting there, the track for this is not finished.

Shockwave/Superman
- Since I've been going to the park for ages, I had a liking to Shockwave. So Superman is not in here, rather it's Shockwave.
- Right before the bowtie (right after the 3 initial loops), the ride goes right instead of left. This is because of space limitations due to the limitations of RCT3's orientation of tracks.

Winner's Circle Go-Karting
- I never rode this, and I didn't really look for the real track, I just used whatever RCT3 had.

Yankee Clipper/Logger's Run
- I couldn't find any detailed pictures or descriptions for these tracks, but I did find some mediocre shots, so they are only partially correct. About 80% of Yankee Clipper is made up and about 30% of Logger's Run is made up.

OTHER NOTES
- Most/All of the Food/Souveneir shops in Great America are in the sandbox (of the areas that are completed). However, I had to create some other generic food/drink shops because the peeps were getting hungry/thirsty.

Yeah, this is in Chicago. They don't have Shockwave anymore, but like I said earlier, I liked Shockwave better than Superman. I only rode Superman once, but rode Shockwave like 500 times or something. On top of that, for me, having Shockwave in the park is sort of like a nostalgia thing. I used to go so many times when I was younger, but nowadays, it's harder for me to go, and having Shockwave in the park just brings back good memories.

And oh wait! One more thing. Does this mean that it runs on your computer? If it does, do you see Iron Wolf near the back of the park? And what kind of system are you running this on?

I just uploaded the six flags great america park WITHOUT Iron Wolf. This one seems to be stable. But if you add one more ride, it crashes (for me atleast).

Save the park in your
My Documents\RCT3\Parks
folder, I believe. Then when you're in the game. Goto Play->Sandbox->Open and find the file.

the American Eagle is an easy one to make, the scenery could be tricky with the entrance, but it is a nice addition. Maybe I'll try addidng it and see what happens.

superman replaced shockwave, whizer's helix is a spiral cable lift, deja vu is backwards, v2's colors seem wrong (might just be the lights because of night), batman is now yellow with purple supports. everything else looks very well placed and it seems very more finished and scenic than mine  . i'll d/l it later. good luck making raging bull (i gave up a few times)

I posted a little thing near the middle of this thread about the rides. Dejavu being backwards was the only thing that I didn't know about. Just quickly though:

Superman vs. Shockwave
I liked Shockwave at the park better. I guess you can call this "Six Flags Great America 2002." Although that means that Deja Vu should be sitting there closed down all the time. haha.

Whizzer's Helix
Yeah. Unfortunately, I checked the height of this coaster and there was no way I could get the spiral chain lift do 3.5 circles and get to the specified height. So, the only way I could do it (rather cheaply) was to boost them up an upward helix. I was going more for aesthetics. But ride accuracy did depend on it too.

V2's Colors
They might be wrong, I'm not sure. What I did was print out photos and statistics on the coasters then went into the park and made it. I have a laser printer, so I had to try to get colors from memory. I couldn't remember what colors they were other than that some parts were yellow and white. I'll try fixing that.

Batman's Colors
I absolutely hate their new color scheme for Batman. It looked so much cooler and sleeker when it was black. Same as the reason for Shockwave, this journey was a bit of a nostalgia for me. And the new superman and new batman color scheme do not suit me well. So, I chose to do a "Great America 2002."

Other Rides
I can't add any more rides into this file for some reason! If I try to add ANY ride, like a Top Spin, or something, the game will crash on me. So, I don't know what more I can do.

OTHER NOTES
My Iron Wolf is bad, I have to redo it.
I've made working versions of Raging Bull and American Eagle...and Viper, but they're not exact. I made them at different times than this great america project, so they were constructed from memory more than anything else.

Good luck on your great america!

I had a working version of the Demon, but I can't add that into this park either, since the game crashes with the addition of ANY ride. I AM thinking; however, building just a Southwest Territory or something, maybe with the outskirts of County Fair, basically, everything that I haven't completed yet.

I use to work there, the center (all your trees) is an employee acces road that runs from the back of the park (under a bridge by the iron wolf) all the way to the fron of the park, and batam man should be to the left (looking down) on this road.

also, know you just started, but, spread your park out....plenty of room i nthe sandbox! hehehehe

I downloaded your park und wanted to try it. But it was running very very very slow. It is looking very nice, but I have the impression something is not ok with it.

As I wanted to try the rides, I paused the game. But still the coaster cam was very slow. This brouhgt me to the idea to reduce the work for the processor.

Somehow I thought it can not be the number of rides, as I created one park with approx. 20 rides and it was working. (I posted this park also somewhere here. Try it to check if your pc is able to run this.) So I looked closer to your park. I found that you have a lot of scenerie objects (lamps, benches, shops, trees....) So I removed them hoping it will run faster. But it did not. Ok: next step: water (uses probably a lot of pc ressource). I brought up the ground whereever there was water - no change. Mmmh. Next step: people. I removed all your employees. Here a first strange thing happened: I fired all employees by first clicking on the +-all button at the buttom left. So I kicked one after the other out except salesmen. When I started with them, I thought this does never finish... I think you must have at least around 100 of them. After some I had to open the details for each one again and again. And then after some more there was only one remaining. So I fired him. Suddenly a new one appeared in the list... This went on for an extra 10 or 15 people.. Strange.

Nevertheless, the game was still very slow. Then I thought you the 1500 peeps are too much to calculate. So I closed all rides, shops, ... and finally even closed the park. By the way: it is funny to watch the crowd heading for the exit. When I had only around 300, the game was still not faster. So I removed some of minor ones (except the large coasters). But even with only two large coasters left, the game was still running very slow. I had nothing left on the scenery than these two coasters and some scenery objects.

Latest at this stage the pc capacity must have been sufficient. So I saved all your large coasters seperately and put them into an empty new park. Here there were running at the normal speed - everything fine.

So I guess you must have something in your park, which takes a lot of pc ressources - but who knows what?????

Good luck in finding it.

Close the park and reduce the num,ber of peeps. 600+ kills the park.

You oughta consider sending this park to frontier so they can look at it and determine why it is crashing like it should.

Park designers should not have to tolerate this.

I had a park that was perfectly fine and I was just importing RCT1/2 coasters to check them out and one of them just caused the framerate to completely drop. But it is odd little quirks like this that they need to fix.

They got rid of the shockwave for superman? Shockwave looks like the great american scream machine which I just loved!

I did send them an email and offered to send them the park, but they never replied. Darn! I really wanted to finish too.

Thanks for the input! You know, since it looks like I can't do anything more to this Great America park for now, I'm thinking of restarting. Now, that I've kinda had a intro to HUMUNGOUS park building, I think it's time to start the REAL project.

The problem is, RCT3 came out in November, and SFGA was way closed by then. I'm thinking the next time I'm there, I'm gonna bring a digital camera, and take shots of EVERYTHING! I know that I'm not going to be able to create it exactly, due to RCT3 limitations, but I'm gonna try. It's hard to get views of certain rides, like Whizzer. All the pictures I've seen are covered in trees.

I want to get more trees in there, and I really want to get the theming down. I had a horrible crash course in building construction, but I think my next goal is to have the ride queues be as accurate as possible. Probably not as long as real life, but similar shape.

I just finnished building SFOG as close to detail as I can remember. The game does not crash but it has such a bad frame rate that I have to pause the game just to work on it. The ride cam is more like a slide show.

I have posted some pics on my website http://home.bellsouth.net/p/PWP-websearcher1 . I don't know what to do about posting the park for download though due to it's size of close to 8megs and the fact that a wick strong computer would be need to truly enjoy it. My computer is not a wickly fast computer ( P4 1.9G / 512MB RAM all drivers updated/ RADEON 9800 PRO)

I really like this game but it bums me out that there isn't a way of reducing the resource drain it places on the CPU.

Your park pictures show how much you to enjoy this game. You did great work Bkbroiler2k.

I just tried it. It still doesn't run like a "Dream" for me, but it runs much better. But still, I tried adding one more ride, and the game still crashed. Mine is only 4.27MB, but somehow Terimose has an 8MB park! I don't get it!
