So far Ive built:
-simple reverse coaster
-Inverted Coaster named "Lunar Drilling" which the stats are:
E: 7.26(High)
I: 7.90(Very High)
N:6.37(High)
-Cosmic Cafe food court which I split up into 2 smaller buildings.

Since this is my first park. Try to go easy on me and let me know what I can do to improve it.

Hey - that name's allready taken... Thats the name of my park which i announced weeks ago... :( Oh well - guess it was just too common or obvious not to be taken by others as well! :D

Good screenshots... I like the lighting! There's really not much to do to improve it. I generally find that such huge structures look unrealistic, but I also like indoor rides very much... You could try to use Digicub's tunnel cheatin trick. That way you can plop the entire thing inside a "mountain" or such... :D

Oh ok im sorry, I will change the name of the park, heh I was looking for a name and Beverly Hills Cop III came on and wonder world, I just seemed like to much of a coincedence to not use it.

Also is there any way you could tell me where to find the Digicub's trick?

Heh Nuppe its ok I already changed it to "Seven Wonders of the World"
Although I might have to change the number if I decide to have more or less then these 7 themes.

Do you have a page with you park? Id like to see how yours is going as well. You can add my thread page to your sig if you would like :D

Thx for giving the link to the Mavis tunnel trick, Ill have to use that in one of the other portions of this park.

Been working for 4 hours now on The Greenhouse Effect and I just finished it for the most part.

-Added Roofing and finished Complex
-Added Scenery Inside & Constructed Poisonous Plant Storage Room
-Added Second Greenhouse room
-Added Decontamination Chamber
-Rebuilt Station, Paths, and added more signs
Stats for The Greenhouse Effect:
E:3.90
I:0.90
N:0.54

Its not the most exciting or thrilling ride but that is because it wasnt the purpose for building it. Its designed to be a themed and relaxing log flume which is exactly how I planned it to be.

Wow, great stuff.

If you allow me a small question about Lunar Drilling. Did you notice any drop in performance of the game after finishing with covering Lunar drilling? I was building a smilar sized building covering part of two rides and the FPS started to drop under 8fps... as soon as I removed the covering the game started running fine again. Did you have similar problems or is it just me?

Really? I can make it work ok... It is hard work though! A few hints (hope you don't flip cause I'm vriting it here Enduro):

- For starters use a steel coaster and not the woody. This way you can place the wall pieces on the same tile as the coaster. I have found that this allows some manipulation with the landscape even after placing the structure and the coaster.
With a woody you have to place the walls on the tile next to the coaster. If you mess one bit with the landscape afterwards the tunnel will be FUBAR! :(
- Make the tunnel ends extra long so you are sure they'll stick out at each end!
- Place floor pieces or walls from the structure and way out. Also build pathways to entrance and exit. You can then use these when placing the structure and the coaster - otherwise it can be almost impossible to do due to the viewing angle...

Hope this helps you or somebody else... :D

How do you get the FPS to show up? But no I didnt notice and real performance drop when riding it or viewing it. Maybe its the type of walls you used to build it. I found that the "Colored Walls" work best and the Slate Slab is great for a roof.

Thx Belloman for the sig add. Ill add yours right away :D

THe aladin coaster's theming is comming along nice too :) Keep it up and If i may add, try to make the coasters a bit more exciting..dont mean this in a bad way thou, just maybe keep it in mind for other coasters you build. Also I have a question if some of you may be able to answer it. I noticed when I started adding trees/shrubs/bushes for scenery, the parts of the park outside of what I own randomly started appearing as well. And the more trees inside I added, the more outside that formed. The problem is one of the trees from outside the park where I cant delete it is now right inside my coaster so you get a face full of brances after the tallest hill which would pretty much shut my park down after the first rider came out with his face destroyed. If I cant delete it I guess ill have to edit the track to go around/over it.

Ive just spent 3 hours trying to put Miner's Revenge under a mountain using the tunnel trick. The structure fits perfectly inside but the coaster wont. Aswell if I save the structure inside the mountain is saves the game so when I reopen the save the mountain is gone and the structure is there. Its pissed me off so much to the point where I dont even wanna finish the park. Ugh dont expect an update today cause I refuse to open my park.

sevey13
11-28-2004, 03:47 PM
If you want to do something like that, here is what I would suggest:

Dig a hole in the ground. Make sure that all the edges are squared (It is easiest to use a square-shaped brush for this). Build your coaster and put any parts that you want in the hole. Pull up any mountain-lie structures you want, as long as your coaster goes around them. Add as much scenery as you want, etc. Then, using the roof tiles available in the scenery section, cover up as much of the hole as possible (it takes a little while, so be patient). When you are done, voila! You have an underground section. If you ride it at night, it is almost like it is in a mountain. And, the peeps don't know the difference. Does that make sense?

Enduro
11-28-2004, 04:15 PM
yea thats what I did with Lunar Drilling. Only problem is I dont like how it looks from outside the ride. Like when your looking from above you see the roof structure mix with real ground and it looks fake. But I guess maybe if I add some scenery over it, and if it fits on the roof with no space inbetween it might look ok. I guess ill try it but prolly not today.

Trees work very well. And, remember, Peeps can't fly in the air like we can. Like, in Disney World, people only see what is on the paths, or directly next to the paths, and not the extensive network of buildings that are hidden from view.

Enduro

true. Heh I kinda forgot about looking through the eyes of a tourist and began looking at it from the view of how will the people who play my park see it.

******UPDATE******
11/27/04 - Major Layout Update

After sitting frustrated about the failed mountain project, I decided to think over my layout and future park sections I haven't begun work on yet. With this time I, I changed and added some new sections to what im going to make and have ideas on what to do from there on. Here is the majority of the update:

-OC (Beach) Section Theme has been deleted
-Saurus Valley (Dinosaur) Section Theme has been deleted

There will be one section that is replacing where the 2 sections above would have been located. Its not decided exactly what it will become but it will be one of these 2 choices below.

-Amazon (Jungle) Section Theme
or
-Redwood Forest (Forest) Section Theme

It might be both of them split up in the section they are suppose to be. I dont know yet.

Heres a really quick paint pic of how Im gonna do it.

very extensive and overall awesome work. that racer mustve been a royal pain, that is if you created it in park view instead of rollercoaster designer. lots of nice themeing choices, i think youve used up the entire game's themeing! but the layout seems simple enough. i wonder if itll turn out that way... i know from experience that however much planning i do, it makes no difference, it doesnt turn that way anyway! again, great job on the park.

Your dueling coaster got a little slow towards the end. You need to keep momentum going to keep it fun. In real life, are there any coasters that go through corkscrews and helix' at very low speeds? Try some strategicaly placed boosters. Apart from that, I love it!

I think there is a cheat somewhere for making chains double as boosters.

belloman
11-30-2004, 09:54 PM
There is- rename any peep David Braben and it will make unlimited lift chain speeds... MUST HAVE PATCH to use...

belloman
11-30-2004, 09:57 PM
Nice video.. like sevey13 said- a little slow at the end... the only bad part about that cheat that I mentioned is that it makes all lifts on that coaster so fast.

Enduro
11-30-2004, 10:41 PM
hrm so in other words its prolly better to just raise the total height of the lift hill like 1 more section.

No no no... :) Just place Block Brakes! If the train travels any slower than the speed you set the Block Brake to it works as a booster instead!!! :D

n747
12-01-2004, 03:36 AM
sometimes you just have to rearrange a drop height or remove a few helixes to get keep the momentum moving...not just jerky cop out methods. a block brake booster method is good when you want a booster shot other than the station, but wouldnt be used as a way to keep the coaster moving. that lies in the design of it.

so i say make your lift a few heights taller, remove the extensive helix section towards the end/limit yourself to one dedicated helix curve area. and dont be afraid to use speed through inversions. sure, taking an inversion too fast will cause problems, but taking an inversion so slow that youre hanging at the peak, just barely crossing it, is much worse.

youve got a good eye for design, but for a thrilling ride dont be afraid of the speed! nice work.

I agree - to some extend... In many of my larger coaster designs I like to put a slow section in the middle some where. That way people have a short break to build up adrenalin before the coaster speeds up again... That's why I sometimes use boosters... :)

n747
12-01-2004, 03:45 PM
true in most coasters there needs to be a break in the middle not to build adreneline, but to release it as well allow for people to re-position where they are in the whole scheme of things. so yeah, a break run in the middle of the ride, still fairly elevated is a good method to keep the momentum going as well as provide for an emergency block section. and the beauty of it is that blocks can re-accelerate the train to finish the second half. god, block brakes are one of the greatest additions to the RCT world.

Enduro
12-01-2004, 04:02 PM
heh yea they are. I just wish boosters were still in it. I tried making my lift hill just 1 more section higher and my intensity went from a decent 6.64 to a 7.4, as is most of my coasters are high intensity so I think Ill just take out the last couple of inversions and just make them build up speed into the helix section. I hope when I make the mods to this that the modifications I have to make to grizzly to keep it the same speed dont go up. Oh well we will see. Thx for the comments and tips

I have decided that im not happy with some sections of this park and dont feel like destroying it and redoing. So I am remaking a new park with the experience Ive gained from this one. I dont think Ill make it to be every theme possible in this game, but instead make more after the way parks today are. Well if you would like to see what I did in the park you can download what I have. Its only about 40-50% done. Ill post my new park thread when I get a little farther into it.

Download Seven Wonders of the World Here (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/7Wonders.zip)

Also please check back here when I post again to see my new park thread.
