Hi I am new but am currently working on my first park, tentatively name "Middle Earth Adventure". If anyone has any ideas for other names let me know. There are going to be a couple of areas at the get up.

AREAS

The Shire - Comprised of the typical Midway/Carnival things, Food, Drink, etc. Thinking of making a ride called "Mr. Frodo/Bilbo's Wild Ride".

Wilderwood - Log Flume ride of some type, once again trying to incorporate the book and the films.

Rivendell - Looking to make this a scene intensive spot, maybe some kiddie rides......but there is more.

The Misty Mountains - Expect maybe something like the Mattahorn at disneyland. An Arctic, Mountain themed area.

Moria - Who wouldnt like to go at top speeds through the mines with special explosions of fire, etc.

Isengard - simply a theme area maybe a drop ride from the top of Sauroman's lair.

Mordor - Very wicked area, this is going to be the tuffy one, as it will require great thinking(need to look that one up). If anyone has ideas on this area let me know.

Well that is all for now, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know in this thread, or shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the site info. I have a general question to throw out is there a way to snap walls, etc to a flat terrain wall?

Middle Earth is now officially under construction. I have a picture from "The Shire" available, mind you this is only the beginning. I would post it but I do not have a web site. If anyone can help let me know.

Thanks

Looks great...just like a Hobbit home! You know what I kinda hate about the way the game is programmed? Your peeps are going to complain that the scenery themes are mismatched, so even though it LOOKS great and makes SENSE in the context of your park, the peeps will complain, and ultimately your park rating will suffer! :(

I don't expect this to be a simple 20 hour project, this is going to be a while, thank god Tolkien made maps. but I want to make it as true to the book and film as possible. I expect to put two small rides in "The Shire" at this point. Any ideas or suggestions let me know.

I will try to keep this updated daily as possible. As with building anything, planning first is the easiest as it saves you a lot of headaches. With that I have put everything together in the old noggin for Phase One, which is "The Shire".

Here is the layout concept:

*Hobbit Holes(After all thats where they live)

*Eateries(Because we all know Hobbits like food)

*A Picnic area with Fireworks(After all it's Mr. Bilbo's Birthday)

*A Merry-Go-Round(This area is very child oriented)

*A little train ride thogh "The Shire"

*Scenery buildings such as "The Green Dragon"

*This is a possible addittion though I do not know if I want to add more rides than I can, but a "Buckleberry Ferry" type ride(Once again focusing on the little children).

This is the project for the first Phase. Thanks to all who have PM'd me with your ideas, thanks and keep 'em comming. I plan to have dome more shots on later tonight of the area, as it is being completed.

Use that volcano event for a ride. It would represent Mount Doom very nicely. :)

I was looking for that but could not find it, where in the events part is it or is it the unlockable from the strategy guide?

Mount Doom, Rivendell, and Moria will pose a challenge as well as The Misty Mountains.

There is a volcano event in the Ride Events menu (where you can find the oil rig explosion, etc.), and there's another volcano (non-event) in the space theme scenery.

Thanks for the Bump, yeah it takes about 45 minutes to an hour per hole I averaged, I may add more, but this is still a work in progress. It's called "The Shire" by the way, we don't make meat products lol. :haha:

Well I am happy to say that Phase Two - "The Old Forrest" is complete as well as is "Tom Bombidal's Wild Ride"(It's in the book). The coaster got High marks on the topw two, and low on nausea so im happy bout that. I will post some pics of it on Wednesday Night

Now I'll be working on Rivendell, which will be one of the hardest things, so it will mean A LOT of planning.

I was not being that tough on him, I did say it nicely.

I just see too many parks in here that are too flat, and that just takes some of the realism out of it.

Trying to encourage him to keep that in mind.

Well you can expect pics of the "Old Forrest" in a couple of days. Construction has begun on "Rivendale". Yhis might take me a week to make me happy, content, and satisfied.

Looking forward to seeing the pics from phase 2 Chazz. A question though...Is "Helms Deep" included in one of the sections , or is it a section not being done.

chazz889
11-29-2004, 09:44 AM
I gave a LOt of thought to the Rohan/Gondor storyline for the park, if I can find something sutiable, ie events, etc I might do it, but at this time, there are no plans for Helm's Deep/Rohan/gondor at this point, though a Point of interest of Gondor may be included outside of Mordor.

I will have to see how things wrap around. At this point the following WILL be included:

The Shire(Completed)

The Old Forrest(99% completed, theres something missing, and I don't know what it is yet)

Rivendale(Construction is already in progress with a ride in construction).

The Misty Mountains

Moria

Isengard

Mordor

Now is where things get complicated as go through my formual of 1. Terrain, 2. Attractions(unless they need to go in the terain), 3. Landscaping, 4. Paths, 5. Vendors, ie. micromanaged items.

I want this to be something that I will be 100% happy with, if it takes me two - three weeks, so be it, but I want perfection istead of going too fast, as the nex areas require a lot of detail.

That's the best way to do it Chazz. Take your time and get it to how you feel it should look. After all, there's no rush to get this out by a certain date. If you want it to continue looking as good as it is so far...Keep up the slow pace you have set for yourself.

Hi guys, I know I said I would have pics for you on "The Old Forrest", but a creativity bug in me has started me in "Rivendale". I can't seem to figure out how to put pathways into the sttuctures, so I have built two buildings with a connecting walk way that the peeps cant use, SOOO. If you can bare with me a couple of more days you will get shots of "The Old Forrest" and "Rivendale". If I can figure out the walkway stuff(The buildings are REAL tall lol) then it will make it in, if not so be it, it's Eye Candy then.

Chazz, you have to make "Stairs" connecting a "floor", rhen you can "Floor" the entire level. If you dn't want peeps up there, then just right click the unwanred path "stairs" and leave the "floors"

For example, in Alien Station, i could have "floored" the whole level, but I wanted the balcony feel and access to the ovelook balcony. While it's all tedious, the final effect can be very satisfying.

if you took a screenshot of whats wrong it could help identify to problem. From the sound of it, make sure that the walls inside the structure u placed are on the other side. For instance you place a path in one square. If you were to try and place a wall then it would be red in every direction if you try to place it in the same square that the path is. So if that is the problem you will have to place the wall in the adjacent square in order to place paths. I dont know if that was your problem but if you post a screenshot im sure 1 of us can tell you exactly what is wrong.

Hi Everyone,

Well, Rivendale and The Misty Mountains are done, and due to space constraints, there will be Mordor and Isengard left, which means I am nearly completed. Ok I need someones help, I have MS Movie Maker and want to make a video for the park. Can someone tell me how to get it working to capture video from the game, etc?

sevey13
12-03-2004, 09:56 PM
I believe video capture is ctrl+shift+F11

Enduro
12-04-2004, 12:21 AM
yes. You use Ctl+Shift+F11 to start and stop your video. However be warned that your game will get massive amounts of lag when recording a video. The video should be automatically saved in my documents/my videos/RCT3 I believe. From there start up Windows Movie Maker and load the movie into it. Its pretty simple from there how to add music/titles/credits. If you need any more help pm me.

Well after hours of labor the park is 99% complete, thanks to those who waited patiently for shots. Here they are, there is about 20+ shots so take your time, and let me know what you think.

I am still adding finishing touches which is the tedious part, if anyone has suggestions or would like to help me finish the final product PM me or e-mail me.

That was my original idea. At the moment I am working out the scenery issue, ie adding more vegetation. I hope to have the park done by Dec. 13th, so if all goes as planned it will be out before the release of the special edition of ROTK.

I'm thinking about doing this park also, cause I'm a big LOTR fan. What kind of problems did you run into?

BTW, I'm currently thinking of how to do Moria justice. I want it to be one ride, unless Frontier gives us underground paths someday, but the problem is that I want the ride to begin near the west gate, and end abruptly at the east side to simulate the fellowship's path. The problem I'm running into is that the trains have to get back to the west side somehow, and the only return track I can think of is Caradhras and that might be too boring. Can you have two stations, but only have an exit on one of them? I'm thinking about unloading passengers on the east side, and not giving the peeps roaming on that side the opportunity to get back on for the return trip over the mountains. The trains will go riderless back to the other side.

BTW, do you think it was better to arrange the areas geographically correct, or do you think it would be easier to break them up into a grid that aren't particularly arranged like they are on the middle earth map?

Guybrush_47

It's impossible to do Moria as you say, i've been working on making a moria ride for the last few days now.

This is my findings.

1. You have to make huge caverns to make it look really good, atm mine look too small, even though the smallest one is 12x20blocks.

2. I also had the problem of making the entrance/exit. Orginally i wanted the ride to start on the west side, and finish on the east. However, this is impossible. So what i've done is i've made the ride go out through the east gate, and up to where Gandalf fights the balrog. Then back down into the caves in the very bottom, full of water, where Bilbo first meets Gollum. It's interesting, as i've encaptured both the fellowship route, and Gandalfs. Though i still have alot of work to finish it off.

3. I'm making the ride almost entirely underground, so being able to make ultra realistic mountains aboth. Is very time consuming however.

Good luck, trust one whos doing it. Your going to need it :P

Well I did put it together geographically(in a circle) starting out in the shire, through the forrest(I incorporated a bit of the book in it), through Rivendale, The Misty's, and Mordor. I put Isengard in the center of the park as a photo spot.

Regarding Moria, It's still not out of the picture but is going to be an updated form of the park. It's all about enclosures.

I will keep you updated on my findings. Expect the release of the park next week as the theming/scenery is completed.
