View Full Version : The Great Adventure:Updated 12/21: SUPER MICE Video and Screenshots

12-18-2004, 04:43 PM
I'm starting my first ever RCT3 Park. It is called:

The Great Adventure

LATEST UPDATE:Super Mice ride complete! Scroll Down to see thy screenshots and thy video.
Aztec Temple Construction has closed due to too many curses being unleashed. The temple has been bulldozed and is being replaced by an all new attraction: THE DIAMOND MINE. New video and screenshots have been added. Scroll down for more information.

Here's the collection of video's that I have:
Download Boardwalk Video (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/BoardwalkTouristVid.WMV)
Download Escape From Mars Video (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/EscapeFromMars.WMV)

I have been preplanning it with the Demo so far. I DO have some screenshots of actual in-game stuff, so please don't think of this as one of those non-screenshot-only-planning-a-theme-park-topic. Okay, on with the describing and screenshots:
The first place that the guests see is the boathouse. This is where the entrance will be hidden(cause I think that they're ugly) and also because the paths don't go off of the map like in RCT2. So having the guests "arrive" on a boat is the best way to do it in my opinion.
This is a shot of the basic layout of the park:
Yellow=The Two Piramids
Brown=The Diamond Mine
Blue=Pirate Cove
Teal=The Town Square
White=The Launch Point
Red=Clocktower Centre
Green=Raptor River
Pink=Monorail Track
Purple=Skyway Track
none(but the Skyway does pass by it)
--------Harbour House
--------Harbour Inn

The next part of the park is the fake entrance. This just adds to the illusion that the guests actually arrive on a boat.

After the fake entrance, the guests enter the park under a Monorail Station and into...

-------Observation Tower(unnamed)[blue]
-------Monorail(unnamed)*[the track is light green, stations are dark green]
-------Food Court(unnamed)[brown]
*The Monorail actually is only inside of the Town Square. It just takes you to the entrances to the other two thirds of the park.

The guests can go two ways after visiting the Town Square. If they go left, they enter:

ADVENTURE COVE(subject to change)
Adventure cove houses three mini-sections of the park.

Northernmost is:
The Two Piramids(subject to change as well)
-------The Tomb of Tukuhankamun(blue)
--------The Oasis(red)
Other Information:
The Tomb of Tukahankamun is a LIM Launched Coaster fully indoors in two piramids.
The Two Piramids is regarded as one of the hardest places to find, the pathway almost perfectly blends with the ground, which can be seen in this screenshot:Click Here (http://img93.exs.cx/img93/1826/ctmappyramidhiddenpath8rc.jpg)
In the middle of Adventure Cove is:
The Diamond Mine:
-------Diamond Mine*[red]
-------Diamond Diner[blue]
Other Information:
The Diamond Mine is a mine cart coaster. Not a mine train like so many would think. Nope...mine cart...Yeah...

At the very bottom of Adventure Cove lies:
Pirate Cove:
-------Revenge of Blackbeard(still in planning stage)[red]
-------Pirate Cove[white]
-------Coaster Town/ The Great Adventure Skyway[green]
--------X(still in planning stage)
--------The Treasure Chest[blue]
Other Information:
Revenge of Blackbeard is a Swinging Pirate Ship that might not be incorporated in the final plans.
Pirate Cove is a boat ride similar to POTC at Disneyland.
X is a gift shop that also might not be incorporated into the final plans

*The Diamond mine used to be called The Aztec Temple. Due to complications, it was changed to Diamond Mine. The Aztec Temple was originally planned to be an Indiana Jones ride, but again, due to complications, it was changed. The Diamond Mine might even change again. Keep that in mind.

But, if the guests choose to go to the right after the Town Square, they enter:
The Halls of Time
This is another third of the park that contains four mini-sections. This is the deepest part of the park in terms of planning.

The northernmost part of this section(and the whole park for that matter) is:
The Launch Point(highlighted in white)
-------Escape from Mars
-------The Lunch Point(very subject to change due to stupid name)
Other Information:
Escape from Mars is a mini coaster with cars in the shape of rocket ships. It is an indoor coaster that is actually meant to be ridden in the daytime.(you'll see what I mean when I release the park/screenshots)

The next part going south is:
Clocktower Centre:
-------Super Mice[red]
-------Skyline Terrace[yellow]
-------Super Mice Gift Shop[green]
(the small blue square is where the clocktower will be placed)
Other Information:
Super Mice is a spinning wild mouse coaster that races through the buildings of Clocktower Centre.
Skyline Terrace is a restaurant in the tallest building of Clocktower Centre. An elevator will get you there or you can choose to climb the stairs.Click Here (http://img25.exs.cx/img25/3954/ctmapclockcenterbuildings0jy.jpg)
Only half of the buildings were placed so that the map would be easier to comprehend.

In the murky mist as you go southward, your neanderthal instincts check in at:
Raptor River(Subject to Change)
-------Raptor River Run[green]
Other Information:
Raptor River Run is a river rapids ride that sends you back in time to visit the dinosaurs.

The southernmost part of the Halls of Time and the whole park is:
-------The 13 Ghosts of the Haunted Manor[black]
-------Coaster Town/The Great Adventure Skyway[green]
--------The Graveyard[brown]
Other Information:
The 13 Ghosts of the Haunted Manor is a haunted hotel ride.
The Graveyard is a restaurant that overlooks the graveyard behind the haunted manor.
*The Distortion section of The Halls of Time is implied as a distortion in time, which goes along with the theme of the section.

Another Update will come soon, I just finished a Demo layout of the Boathouse, Harbour Inn, and Harbour House. As soon as I edit them and host them I will update you guys.

Harbour House Grill:30%
Harbour Inn:90%
Harbour Boardwalk:0%

Entrance Stalls:50%

Let me know what you think, any thoughts about improvements will be greatly appreciated!:D

Let me be the first to say that the terrain you have done seems impresionant. All that colours and info you have add says me that this park can be awesome. Want to see soon your future coasters, as that is what you are going to mainly do. Why not calling the park The Great Coaster Adventure, gives direct info of what your are going to found in your park and also is like a more park to be themed around it.
What i can say for now is that the terrain looks awaysome, keep up with the good work.

12-18-2004, 05:13 PM
Wow very nice! Very organized (which I love). Can't wait to see this park progress. I love the layout very much. Also, I think you should name it the Great Adventure. I think it suits the park better than Coaster Town would.

And 1 more thing, I don't think you should changed the name of The Lunch Point lol. I think thats a PERFECT name for a food court in the launch point. It may sound corny but I think its perfect :D

12-18-2004, 05:20 PM
Wow, I didn't think I'd get such great comments! Thanks!

I'm still debating about The Lunch Point though... all the pros and cons and piling up day by day. One thing is that it's really corny, but on the other hand, lots of stuff in theme parks are corny...hmm...I'll have to give it more thought over the break. I just hope that I get the game for christmas so that I can start in January after I've experimented with some stuff.

I thought the terrain wasn't that great actually. It's all flat except for Raptor River Run which shoots right up into the air...I'm going to have to think of something. Oh, here are some more screens of some stuff:
This is the logo that would be if it was called Coaster Town, but now it might be a G A for Great Adventure... I'm still thinking of which, but right now I'm leaning more for Great Adventure.
This is the sign for The Halls of Time. I might take it out, pending on how it fits in with the rest of the park...

I'm pretty sure that by terrain he ment the layout of the park. :)

I'm still thinking of which, but right now I'm leaning more for Great Adventure.

Ooh good cuz so am I :D

And lastly, that logo looks super cool ;)

12-18-2004, 05:55 PM
Thanks! I like the logo also.

Here's some screens of what the boathouse/harbor area will look like.
^This is the HarbourHouseInn
^Here's the BoatHouse
^More Pictures of the BoatHouse
^Green=The BoatHouse
Yellow=The HarbourHouse Restaurant
Blue=The HarbourHouse Inn
Red Arrow=Entrance to Park
^A Screen of the whole Harbor. In the park there might be some more buildings in front of the lake.
^Here's the HarbourHouse Restaurant

12-18-2004, 06:04 PM
Very nice! Those buildings are so realistic!

Btw, how are you doing all this if you don't have the game? Are you using the demo?

12-18-2004, 06:06 PM
Yeah, the demo isn't as worthless as you think...;)

The next update will be tomorrow.

12-18-2004, 08:13 PM
Wow, this is only with the demo????
Thats an awesome work, want to see some of your work when you got the whole game.
BTW I love harbor area, you did very realistic buidings there and with only the demo, incredible.
And how are you going to put so many coasters, the demo has only two types, and you couldnt save???:bulb:
Well keep such a good work up!:D

12-18-2004, 08:20 PM
wow, i couldent even play the demo cause i was getting 1 fps. Cant wait to see what you do with the full game!

I'm going to build the full park in the full game when I get it. I'm just building bits and peices of what I want the park to look like when I make it. If that made any sense at all...:bulb:

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Minor Update: The Lunch Point in The Launch Point is going to be a large 1950's style rocket ship pointing towards the sky with the loading dock right next to it. At the bottom near the engines are where I'm going to put the shops. Off to the side there's going to be an enclosed patio where the guests can sit down. The side pointing towards the rocket is going to have a lot of large windows on it, so it's like the guests can watch the rocket "take off". It'll look good, trust me on that.

12-19-2004, 11:29 AM
No comments? Okay...

UPDATE: 12/19/04

Plans for The Lunch Pad are complete! Here's some screens:
^The overall restaurant.
Yellow Arrow=Halls of Time
Red Arrow=Escape From Mars
Blue Box=Lunch Point Sitting Area
Green Box=Lunch Point Food Stop
^A nice angle of The Lunch Point
^This is a cool shot of the rocket.
^This shot includes the launch pad for the rocket.
^The walkway to the rocket ship.
^This is the sitting area where, if it was real, the guests can watch the rocket ship blast off without serious injury.
^The inside of the Sitting Area. Nothing special.

Oh, and one more thing. Let me know what you think of this logo for THE GREAT ADVENTURE:
It has all of the major rides(even the monorail!) with THE GREAT ADVENTURE at the bottom in dark blue. What do you think of it?

Please reply!

12-19-2004, 05:41 PM
Very very cool idea with the launch point. The logo looks great too, I sure can't draw like that on paint hehe.

12-19-2004, 06:17 PM
Thanks, man! Okay, I have for you guys ANOTHER update. I just keep updating and updating... anyway, this update is just adding on to another update. remember the boathouse? Well, here's the boardwalk that I planned to put next to it. (I had to build the boathouse all over again...:( )

UPDATE 12/19/04 6:00 PM!

Download Boardwalk Walkthrough (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/BoardwalkTouristVid.WMV)<---I made a video for the Boardwalk, not that bad.

Blue Box=Harbour House Grill
Green Box=Harbour Inn & Boardwalk Shops
Yellow Arrow=Park Entrance
Red Arrow=Boathouse/Park Exit
^A nice view of the Boardwalk
^The Harbour House Grill from a path.
^The Harbour House Grill from the front.
^This is a great view of the Harbour House, with the Inn in the back.

On the boardwalk there'll be a lot of shops and stuff, it won't remain that plain.

Please let me know what you think. Even replies such as ,"This Sucks!" are gladly appreciated. As long as you tell me why you think that way...:(

 ?..... ?

12-19-2004, 10:19 PM
! Very realistic.

12-19-2004, 10:24 PM
Thanks, that's what I was going for. The building will probably be changed in the full version, but it's a good prototype IMO.

Anyway, I've been planning out more of The Launch Point area. I've been trying out different ride buildings for Escape From Mars. None of them have caught my interest so far, but I'll probably have another update tomorrow.

So, any thoughts are always appreciated. I need feedback more than ever right now to get the theme park right. I want it to be as close to perfect as possible.(it can't be perfect because there'll always be some people that don't like it)

12-20-2004, 01:12 PM
Well, only thing I can think of that can imporve your entrance would be maybe some fences? close to the buildings/footpaths

12-20-2004, 09:09 PM
Fences is a really good idea! I'll have to try that out!
Okay, time for an update!

UPDATE 12/20!
Escape From Mars is done! Here's some screenshots with a new video! I deleted the old one, this one is a newer version.

Click Here To Download The Video (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/EscapeFromMars.WMV)

I think the music transitions were a little rough, but everything else seemed okay to me! Tell me what you think of it.

First, construction screenshots since this is an indoor ride:
^Here you can plainly see Mars.
^Say bye bye to the sunlight.
Now, screenshots of outside the ride.
^The Entrance Building. It turned out nicely.
^Here's the Lunch Point again.(yes, I built it again)
^Here's a new building. It's just going to have one shop in it. It had a balloon stall in it here.
^This is the whole Launch Point area. I didn't color the ground, I didn't want to mess up Escape From Mars. I make mistakes a lot.

So, basically the whole place is built around a certain building, that one gift shop place. I liked the curved edges with the large windows in the middle. It's pretty nice...pretty nice...nice...yeah...

Oh, and I gladly report no lag! That's one of the biggest things I'm worried about...lag...ugh...I hate lag...lague...however you spell it...

So, I would really like to know what you think of it. C'mon guys, I won't bite you...maybe...

12-20-2004, 10:41 PM
Man, I hate double posting...especially in my own topic. But just for a heads up:

I re did the boardwalk video. Now it has music, with some better intro and ending stuff. Enjoy!

Download New Video (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/BoardwalkTouristVid.WMV)

12-21-2004, 12:41 AM
A lot of planning has clearly been put into this project. I'll be sure to watch the progress of this park as it comes along. Can't wait till you get the full game.

12-21-2004, 03:41 PM
A ton of planning. Like, since the day I downloaded the demo...

UPDATE 12/21

I was thinking yesterday, and I realized that I had no idea what an aztec temple looked like. So, instead I'm replacing it with a western mine type ride called Diamond Mine. It's a non-indoors ride, so it's outdoors.yeah... And I have the third video I've made for the great adventure right about...
HERE (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/DiamondMine.WMV)
I hope you like it! I couldn't find any good music for the actual ride, that was the best I could come up with...:(
^An overhead shot of Diamond Mine
^The Diamond Mine itself(that big cone thing is a big diamond...:bulb:  )
^This is the most plain station I have ever done. But I'm actually happy with it, since it is a MINE ride and I have never seen a really detailed mining building. So it's not that bad...
^this is the first time I've ever done anything like this. I usually try to avoid it, I don't really like to make paths going over the ride...I don't know why. But it's pretty good...to say the least.

Hope you like 'em!

12-21-2004, 04:35 PM
Looks great! Can't wait to see your finished park.:)

12-21-2004, 05:51 PM
I love how on some of your rides you used the Fontierland Theme music and also the Test Track theme Music. That is pretty cool! Good luck on your park!

12-21-2004, 08:40 PM
Thanks Tmul, and disneyland255!

Yeah, I got the music from www.soundofmagic.com. It's a good source for in-ride music.

UPDATE 12/21

I've been busy today. Well, there's not that much to do today... Anyway, I made Super Mice. Of course it's not a wild mouse coaster, but it will be in the actual park. Since I have the demo only, I will just settle for the suspended coaster right now...

DOWNLOAD SUPER MICE VIDEO (http://www.nicksvideo.com/tycoon3d/uploads/Super Mice.WMV)
^Music in this one is from www.themeparkmoments.com. I think it's from Alton Towers. I want to go there someday...

^Construction shot of SuperMice. Buildings aren't built yet so you can see the whole ride!
^An overhead shot of SuperMice. Lots of buildings...
^A shot of SuperMice from an Angle. Wooooo....
^A shot down Clockworks Avenue. It used to be a old time town, the clocktower is the only thing left of it.

Okay, there you go. Hope you like it.

Take note: Supermice will be a spinning wild mouse coaster. That's why it's called supermice... also because it's in the 'modern' section of The Halls of Time.
 :D

12-21-2004, 09:01 PM
Really great job so far. All the planning is great. Everything so far looks super! :D

12-21-2004, 09:11 PM
Thanks Milkdud!

Just a little heads up, the next thing I'm going to work on is either Pirate Cove or Raptor River Run. I have the music all set for both of them, I'm just trying to figure out which one.

Both of them are water rides, so I'm going to have to cheat a little on both of them in the demo. Underwater woodies! woo!

12-21-2004, 09:27 PM
LOL! Man you are really making great use of the demo! What a way to improvise! Awsome :)

12-21-2004, 09:30 PM
Hey, thanks! All this time without the real game...gets you to thinkin of ways to do other stuff...yeah...if that made any sense at all.

I think I'll do Raptor River Run next, since I'm not in the mood for covering the rides. It's tough...:(

12-22-2004, 09:57 AM
When do you plan to get the full game?

12-22-2004, 09:59 AM
Christmas. Or I'll buy it with money I get from Christmas:D

12-22-2004, 10:34 AM
Wow all that rides look fantastic, i love the mars one, is as if you were above the planet, awesome!.
Ans the diamond mine is just perfect, I love the clock square. Im waiting to see all this rides in the real version of the park, if you can do this with the demo, with the retail game (and the patches) you will be in paradise.

12-22-2004, 11:19 AM
Thanks, TM!

Yeah, I can't wait to get the actual game and start building this park. It's going to be really fun.
