Thanks for the kind words, entersandman144, Tmul, CoasterExpert, Milk, robbie97, bellowman & Bitter!

01-02-2005, 04:17 PM

I wish I had the skill you had. I'm not too good at architecture.

01-05-2005, 02:02 AM
I love the way the coaster goes down the creepy corridor... Looks good so far

01-05-2005, 08:19 AM
Thanks vgp & Regina

@Regina - I don't know what you're talking aboot... Pirate Cove is gorgeous. You've got the mad skillz!

I just posted a new pic of Cryptkeeper Castle that is closer to completion. It's up in the first post. I have 2 more buildings to build to complete the ride - one in Ghastly Gorge and The Stationhouse. I'll probably finish them tomorrow and post a few more screens before I go into video mode.

Thanks again for the great feedback!

01-05-2005, 09:34 AM
Excellent work!

01-05-2005, 05:00 PM
Simbolism!!! You are the building master. I bow down to your greatness. I wish my buildings were this good!!

01-05-2005, 05:53 PM

01-05-2005, 09:46 PM
It looks sweet....

01-06-2005, 12:25 AM
Thanks Teirmose, Milk, Griffman & jddietcoke. You all roxxor my boxxors!

I just completed The Cryptkeeper. I updated the first post with new pix. Check em out and let me know what you think!

Whew! That took a while to build!

The Cryptkeeper Stats:
Excitement: 8.22
Intensity: 8.91
Nausea: 6.96
Top-speed: 62.53 MPH
Ride Lenth: 02:46

I wish I knew how to get the excitement rating above 9. Coaster designing is not my strongest suit. Maybe one of you coaster gurus can lend me a hand after you see it run (I'm talking to you n747, entersandman144, Griffman, CoasterExpert, chrsharvick29 & others). I could use a few pointers. :)

And speaking of seeing it - I think I'm going to get started on the video. I have no idea how long its going to take, but I anticpate it being complete before the end of the week.

01-06-2005, 01:48 PM
I'm not sure how i get such good ratings. My rides just come natural to me. Try using very fast drops and lots of them. Make sure you have at least twice as many drops as inversions. Banked drops work very well. And of course lots of scenery!!!

01-06-2005, 03:34 PM
OH MY GOSH!!!!! That's freaking awsome!!!!!! What a ride!!!! What a castle!!!!
Thanks Teirmose, Milk, Griffman & jddietcoke. You all roxxor my boxxors!
No no no no no. YOU, my friend, roxxor MY boxxors! :p

Also, don't worry that your coaster doesn't have a 9 rating, that doesn't mean anything really. The game has a very crappy way of calculating the rides ratings. Usually the only way you can get 9+ rating is if the ride is a giga coaster, or if it's REALLY REALLY long and unrealistic. Trust me, 8 is a really good rating, don't you DARE say that you suck at rollercoaster designing b/c it's an 8.

I mean, you can make the ride go 300+ MPH and just go straight and the game will say its low exitement low intensity...lol. So don't base how good a coaster is by it's rating, trust me :p

01-06-2005, 04:06 PM
Holy cow that looks awesome:eek: :bulb: How long did it take you to build it. 2....................3.............years?

01-06-2005, 07:51 PM
Wow! Impressive castle, Simbolism. The lighting in the night shots is very well done too. Even the smaller buildings out back of the castle have a great "gothic revival" look about them.

Keep up the great work!

01-06-2005, 08:17 PM
Actually milkdud I can make twister coasters with excitement over 9 so thats not true wth the Giga Coasters. I can make rides that are 2 min long and have an excitement rating over nine. But you are right. Eight is a very good rating. And simbolism does make amazing rides. I just like to go for exc. of nine.

01-06-2005, 08:52 PM
Nice castle! Very nice! I'm going to add some more parks to my sig, and this will be one of them! Also, what is that font?

Have a nice day!

01-06-2005, 09:27 PM
Thanks again ya'll.

@Griffman/Milkdud - Thanks for the kind words and advice regarding the coaster-design. I can't help it though - If I know 9 can be achieved, I WANT 9, GOSH DARN IT! [edited for language]. What would be even more helpful would be to have the formula for what each track piece adds/subtracts to ratings at each given speed/force. I wish some sort of table existed... y'know what I mean?

@DisneyFREAK1178 - I actually started Frightmare and built the coaster in November - before I began work on Inspiration Park. It was a pretty good coaster-run (I built it just to see how it would look racing through the canyon) but I didn't have any vision for the theme of the park, so I started working on Inspiration Park - and soon found myself spending all my time on it (I  that park).

When Inspiration Park died last week, I opened this park back up to apply some theming - and in doing so, added the castle and about 45 seconds to the coaster (inside the castle). I'd say I've worked on the castle/coster for about 20 hours - and the rest of the park for about 20 more back in November, for a total of 40 hours. There are 2 other near-finished coasters in the park; "Wooden Stake" (Woody) and "Terrorgasm" (4D). I'll post screens of those other coasters soon.

@Klinn - Thanks for the comments regarding the architecture & lighting. I wish I could pick the colors on the lights. And wall sconces would be handy, too. Floating lamp-posts look kinda funny. I've found myself building balconies on some buildings just so I can light the upper floors and not have it look goofy :bulb:

@Belloman - Thanx :) The "Frightmare" font is called "Buffed". The title font is called "PostCrypt"

I heartily agree - actually, I wish we could pick both colour and intensity of lights. I was recently lighting the inside of a structure and wanted a light on a path right beside a wall (sort of a faux wall sconce :)) but the default intensity of the light source blew out the texture of the wall.

I also wish there was an extremely simple generic lamp - just a globe on a pole. In one area I needed something like that. Even the existing 'generic' lights were too ornate. I ended up using the Miner's Lamp just because it was the least intrusive.

The Cryptkeeper video is now complete! You can download it in the first post.

This is my first try with the flying camera editor. All comments are welcomed!

01-08-2005, 10:27 AM
That video was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Great job with the attract sequence editor in the beginning. The castle and scenery was just breathtaking and the ride was wild! 20/10!!!!!

01-08-2005, 11:50 AM
OMG!!!!!!!! 100/10 this is amazing. And you called me a coaster guru?!!!

01-08-2005, 12:30 PM
I'm currently getting the 33meg version of the video right now Simbolism, and if it even half as good as those screenshots you put up...I know I'm in for a treat!

Man...I was right! that was truely an awesome video Simbolism    Definately worth
the 15 minutes it took to get the better quality version.

01-08-2005, 12:57 PM
PLEASE show me how to use the cntrl+shift+O thing!

That looked awsome!

01-08-2005, 01:03 PM
holy ****, that is a ****ing amazing coaster

01-08-2005, 01:26 PM
Brilliant! Absolutely amazing! So the real question now is whats next?

01-08-2005, 03:56 PM
 Oh my goodness! I wasn't expecting that much great feedback. <blush> I'm very greatful for your kind replies . You all are the reason I keep creating new stuff and coming back for more. You're the best!

I just posted the uber-high-res version of the video. It's 100 MB for those with fast connections and/or lots of patience. It's available in the first post up top.

@ElBlufer: Tikitiki posted the page on how to use the CTRL-SHIFT-0 thing HERE (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=440933).

@Go_Go_Go_RCT3: Until the next update is out, I'm going to continue work on Frightmare. I'm working on "The Wooden Stake" right now :)

Thanks again for the outpour of comments! Best, SIM

01-08-2005, 05:01 PM
Wow - a great video and a great ride. Who cares what stats RCT3 gives it, I give it a large quantity of thumbs up! :) The loop around the large skull was a cool touch. Your castle is impressive enough from the outside, but the careful design that must have gone into it to integrate the coaster, well... <whew>

BTW, your title sequence was very good too - I've always had a soft spot for the Electric Light Parade music.

Took me a little while to D/L even the medium quality video - your site must be getting hammered by enthusiastic visitors. :)

01-08-2005, 05:37 PM
A tad long, but...... WOW!!! Gret stuff here, Simbolism, I get the impresion hough that you cut it a bit at the end from the abrupt finish? Really goo use of the music and editing!!

01-08-2005, 08:51 PM
You put any coaster I've built to shame.

01-09-2005, 05:17 AM
Whats "The Wooden Stake" ??? :D

01-09-2005, 05:22 AM
Thanks Klinn, Skipper & Anselm

:) "The Wooden Stake" is Frightmare's Wooden Coaster. It has a vampire theme, of course. I should be done with it in the next couple of days.

Actually, the coaster used to be shorter. My wife said that it needed another building in the canyon. Who am I to argue with her? She's only seen the back of my head for the past 2 months since RCT3 came out. :D So, I added all of the elements between the loop and the lifthill after the original ride was constructed :) Total ride length is 2:46, but a good 15-20 seconds of that is lifthill and brakes up to the launch.

Wooden Coaster Contest BEGINS!!! Let's start seeing those entries!

[edit] This post announced the Wooden Coaster Contest, which is now closed. Several posts following this one are in reference to the contest. See Milkduds winning coaster about 10 posts down

01-11-2005, 04:53 PM
Oh yeah!!! I've been waiting for an event like this! I'm going to get started RIGHT now! :p

Edit: Hey SIM, can the coaster go over the redish terrain or does it have to stay inside the white only?

01-11-2005, 05:12 PM
Got one problem with that .dat file of yours... Every time i finish my coaster and put the final piece in, the game goes back to desktop and i lose all the progress i made... :s

but as nobody said anything about it yet i guess i'm the only one with this problem

Please stay in the white/gray area and do not build over the red border! I've updated the rules above to make that clearer.

I don't know what's up with that, Xe0 :( This is the first I've heard of the problem and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it. If you'd like, you can create your own scenario and see if it helps. The area is 50 tall, 50 wide with 25 taken out of the bottom-right corner.

I'm looking forward to your entries!

01-14-2005, 12:40 PM
Thanks for your entries, Milkdud & Xe0!

Only 2 days left! Get your coaster in today! (see rules in first post)

01-15-2005, 04:50 PM
I didnt send mine yet as i totally forgot about the contest and im not home untill tomorrow :/
so i dont think ill be able to send it in on time but ill do my best

on my other (much slower pc (1.4ghz)) i can complete the track so ill have to design it on my 3.2ghz, then complete it on 1.4 and then test it on 3.2 again (so much work :s)

01-15-2005, 11:39 PM
Woah, how did you do the camera into the castle like that?

01-16-2005, 08:47 AM
Did you get my entry? :)

01-16-2005, 01:54 PM
Entry received, DaBug!

Today is the last day I'm accepting entries. Get yours in before midnight PST tonight!

01-16-2005, 02:02 PM
I just finished my ride and i've sent it 1 min ago :)

Wow! Congrats on winning the title MilkDud. Very nice coaster. Feel free to use my coaster Simbolism, and thanks by the way for the contest. I'm looking forward to see the final product of frightmare.

Congratulations again MilkDud

01-19-2005, 04:46 AM
Sim--- the Cryptkeeper is FANTASTIC!!!!

I can't wait to see what you do with the Wooden Stake.

I also can't wait to download and take a ride through one of your completed parks...
But then, who am I to judge? LOL. I have at least 7 parks started and only two that've ever started a thread...

:D Keep up the great work!!!

01-20-2005, 09:42 PM

Your workmanship on Cryptkeeper is breath taking. I Loved the building. Your use of scenery is outstanding. How long did it take to build the entire ride with scenery?

I really like your work. :D

01-20-2005, 09:53 PM
Thanks Phantom & Terimose :D

When Inspiration Park died between patch #1 & #2, I opened Frightmare park back up to apply some theming - and in doing so, added the castle and about 45 seconds to the coaster (inside the castle). I'd say I've worked on the castle/coster for about 25 hours total. Add another 5-6 hours to create the video for Cryptkeeper.

I'm moving the contest announcement here to try and clean up this thread a bit

January 18, 2005
Wooden Coaster Contest WINNER ANNOUNCED!

Wooden Coaster Contest Winner! Milkdud's Wooden Stake before inclusion in Frightmare. Click to big it up

Congratulations MILKDUD on your winning coaster! $5 bucks is yours along with the inclusion of your Wooden Stake in Frightmare with a complete themeing treatment and video production! Expect to see the video completed by this weekend.

Along with having the highest excitment rating of all entries (8.20 before theming!) it was also the most fun to ride and proved to be the best use of the space provided! It kept its speed up through the duration of the ride and had the best "headchopper" I've seen in a long while.

What a great response to the Coaster Contest! And each one was a treat to ride! Thank you to Milkdud, Xe0, daBug, kalei, sniper1263 & BASSOFeeSH. While Milkdud takes the gold, there were some great rides submitted.

First Prize: MILKDUD for overall greatness
Second Prize: Xe0 for the best single drop
Third Prize: daBug for unrelenting speed

Honorable mentions:
Sniper1263 for a fantastic compact layout (I'd like to use this coaster in another park, with your permission)
kalei, for the best out-and-back
And the winner for the longest train (17 cars - and backwards to boot!) goes to BASSOFeeSH.

Judging was based on track creativity, use of the space, RCT3 ratings, and overall enjoyability by Simbolism and Mrs. Simbolism. All judgements are final :D

Thank you to all participants!!! Stay tuned to this thread for the themed Wooden Stake video - coming soon!

"Wooden Stake" transplanted! + teaser

Just finished the import of Milk's "Wooden Stake" into the park and landscaped just a bit.
Personally, I think it looks pretty sweet from all angles. Here's one of them:

Milkdud's winning "Wooden Stake" successfully transplanted to Frightmare - Before theming - Jan 20, 2005. Click to big it up

I can't wait to wrap buildings around it. :D:D:D

TERRORgasm is a 4D coaster that still needs some major tweakage. Talk about a tease, huh? :bulb: No ETA at this point.

[edit] Also, with their permission, I'm going to be posting the contest runner-up .TRK files shortly

01-21-2005, 12:18 AM
Man. that promo pic looks sweet! And you're right about milks coaster looking great in there. Can't wait to ride those coasters in there Sim!

Pfth, the pleasure is ALL mine!!! :p I'm very glad your enjoying yourself, makes me feel all tingly inside

01-21-2005, 10:26 PM

01-23-2005, 10:28 AM
Wow! You made that one coaster into that! WOW!!! I can't believe it! BTW Milkdud, great coaster! Looks excelent! That launch looks AMAZING!!! I love your themeing abilities Simbolism!

Put a smile on!:D

01-23-2005, 05:19 PM

Thanks Milk, Griff & Bello!

Thmeing is coming along slower than expected but ideas are starting to come together!

The video will be delayed a few days. Thanks for your patience :)

01-23-2005, 05:25 PM
Woo-hoo! Great stuff! The colour scheme you pulled together really enhances the theming you've done. Can't wait to ride it, props to you too Milkdud!

01-23-2005, 05:30 PM
Geez look at those stats! :p Too bad the intensity got alot higher as well. You must be theming the crap out of it! :D I can't wait to see more! It's incredible what you are able to do with this coaster!

Oh and thanks Klinn for the props :p

01-23-2005, 06:03 PM
You got some cool stuff there! Of course, I'm not a big fan of woodies, they remind me too much of the demo, which I had to play for 4 months before getting the actual game.ugh...

But, it looks great!

01-24-2005, 07:13 AM
That is a seriously high excitement rating...

What was the rating before theming?

Also, whats happening with Terrorgasm? Ive been building heaps of really good multidimensional coasters myself and I cant wait to see what Terrorgasm is like.

01-24-2005, 03:15 PM
The excitement was 8.20 beofre theming. So far it's gone up 1.52 points.

01-24-2005, 05:34 PM
Wow... 1.52 points... wow! Once again Milkdud, great coaster!

01-25-2005, 04:22 AM
You are all fantastic

I'm having tons of fun working on The Stake & construction is moving along...

The tower is nearing completion!

You might notice that I changed the color scheme of the stationhouse. I thought it looked too much like a dollhouse before. Personally, I think these colors are a tad bit spookier :weird:

Also, I want to thank circleVision for providing some inspiration on the tower. The Stake's tower wouldn't be the same if I hadn't seen your work on Sleeping Beauty's Castle. If you haven't checked out Adventure Kingdom, you're missing out on one of the best parks in this forum (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=441035).

There is still TONS to do! I've got a bunch of little projects spread out all around the coaster. Overall, I'd say things are about 1/2 done.

This thing is GIAGANTIC!

I think I'm going to enclose the lift hills next (there's 2 of them).

Thergothon: Terrorgasm is still in need of a major overhaul. It's WAY too fast to be enjoyed by anyone sane and the rotations are way off. I'd say an update on it is at least 3 weeks away. :(

Happy building to you!

01-25-2005, 07:17 AM
Sweet! I do like the new color scheme! ANd also I do see some circle vision in the tower (the slate mixed in). Gosh I can;t wait for the finished product and the movie!!!!!

01-25-2005, 11:49 AM
Looking Good!

I can't wait to see it when it's finished.

I had to watch that video twice to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Absolutely fantastic use of both landscaping and scenery, as well as flawless theming paired with innovative ideas. Just a pity I missed out on the coaster building contest! Will there be more?

01-25-2005, 10:43 PM
That ride looks awsome! Can't wait to see more.

01-25-2005, 11:15 PM
Wow..... This is coming along great. The increase in the coaster ratings is mind boggling. I'm very impressed and you are not even finnished yet.

01-26-2005, 02:51 AM
@Milkdud - Thanks man - Nice avatar ;)

@satriales, @DarkSim, @Tmul - Thanks :) I appreciate the kind words and the time you spent to make them.

@Terimose and others talking about the ratings - I wish I could take credit for the mega-boost in excitement ratings. Milk's coaster went from 8.20 to 8.75 during theming. The boost to 9.7 was due to "low friction" being turned on. After riding it both ways, the low friction ride was pretty exciting, so I left it that way. I hope you don't mind Milk!

Oooh so that's what it was! :p Oh, and of course I don't mind!

Edit: Oh and thanks for the comment on my avatar! :D Lmao, that thing is so ugly! I've been looking everywhere to find that image and finally found it simply by typing in 'ugly' in google and BAM, it was the very first result!

01-26-2005, 08:34 AM
 GREAT work Simbolism! You're the Best!

01-26-2005, 02:56 PM
Hey SIM, when you mentioned my avatar were you talking about the ugly face that I have now or the willy wonka ones? I was tyring out Willy Wonka ones before I finally chose this one...Just wondering, cuz i might change it back to the willy wonka one...

01-26-2005, 05:23 PM
wow Sim that looks awesome. I can't wait to see the vid for wooden stake. You sure have talen man.

01-26-2005, 07:26 PM
just wondering when do you approximate the vid?!

Yipee! This weekend! Yay! Your welcome for my patience...

Put a smile on!:D

01-27-2005, 12:54 AM
Here's two more screenies of progress on Milkdud's Wooden Stake:

I'm going to name this section of the park "Transylvania"

There's a new transport ride at Frightmare called "The Night Train". You can see it departing Transylvania Station above.

Can any Special FX Wizard help figure out how to get a foggy mist arcoss the cemetery?

@Milkdud - I was talking about the ugly one - YIPES!

01-27-2005, 07:26 AM
Yeah! Mist! I wanted to know how to get that - it would be perfect for my spooky park. Speaking of which, I think I'll start it now. I'll try and get some screens up when I've got it looking how I can picture it in my head.

Great work so far Simbolism - that big grey tomb with the pillars looks cool - I bet it's great with the coastercam :)

01-27-2005, 07:33 AM
 WOW!!! That looks SO awesome!!!! So what's inside Transilvania Station?

01-27-2005, 01:23 PM
If you want mist, there's a neat little trick I know of. Go to Ride events, and select the volcano. Hold down shift and lower it underground until you can't see it anymore. Place it and wait for a few secconds. The smoke from the volcano will be appear above ground! This trick can be used to creat things such as hot springs, or just to add a creepy feeling to your rides.

Hope this helps!

01-27-2005, 01:42 PM
Thanks :)

@Milkdud - Transylvania Station contains a bit of Wooden Stake, A "Night Train" station (you can see the train in the pic above), an info booth, a soda machine, a small restroom, and an ATM machine.

@Mulefisk - I'll need to test that out - thanks for the idea!

01-27-2005, 02:56 PM
OOOH ok, sorry it was too early in the moring so I didn't read the text...hehe.

01-27-2005, 04:25 PM
Transylvania looks so awesome! Can't wait for more!!!

01-27-2005, 04:28 PM
I know this sounds repetetive but
Ur arcitecture is amazing. The building's are so detailed and have well thought out interiors. That's why I was begging you to let me make you a coaster (which you did. TY so much)     :D :D :D :D :D

01-27-2005, 04:37 PM
I've gotta agree with you Griff. That's why I joined the contest, because it would be such an honor to have simbolism theme my ride if I won and I did and so I knew my coaster was in the right hands :D

01-27-2005, 10:10 PM
You guys flatter me too much

@Mulefisk - Check out the mist!!! Thanks for the "killer" idea!

The only downside is that it moves too fast... wish I could slow it down a ton - so it looks like its just hanging there... slowly drifting,

Oh well - beggars can't be chosers

01-27-2005, 10:13 PM
its just so...so...creepy!!! Amazing use of specfx!! I'm on he edge of my seat for the vid

01-28-2005, 01:51 AM
Truely amazing work there, Simbolism! 'Tis really something what our minds have thought of doing with this game. Everday I am astounded. An now, after seeing how great the cemetery looks, I stand in awe of your work yet again (and to @Mulefisk, of course)!

:D Vodhin

01-28-2005, 02:10 AM
WOW!!!!! I've been seeing a lot of great coasters, parks, and videos over the past few month, but that cemetary image is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

This is by far the best screenshot I've seen yet. Mind if I use it as wallpaper on my 'puter?

I've been following "Frightmare" for weeks now. You're doing a GREAT job. Can't wait for the next update!

I have a few tricks that I'm working on now using the APE. Fog/Mist is definately in the list. So are ghosts/ wandering souls and smallfires/bonfires. (Yah.... the Spooky theme is a favorite of mine, to!)

If your interested I'll post here when they're done :)

01-28-2005, 07:34 AM

WOAH!!!! Now that fog looks incredible!!!!! I've used the volcano trick a few times, but it never looked THAT good! :D

01-28-2005, 08:32 AM
WOW!!! How long did it take you to build all that?

It takes me half a hour to build a small castle.

Great work!!!

01-28-2005, 03:21 PM
Are you going to take off the "low friction" option for the movie? (I would prefer that you do) I think the flow of the coaster is better with it off since I designed it with it off :)

01-28-2005, 03:24 PM
Great mist trick! I'll be sure to use that in my park...

01-28-2005, 03:30 PM
Thanks again everyone!

I'm almost done! Here's a pic of the lifthill

Wooden Stake - still left to do:
1) Cursed Forest
2) Terraforming tweaks
3) Building tweaks
4) Lighting
5) Landscaping

Sure - I'll record it with low friction off. :D

01-28-2005, 08:48 PM
Oh my god!!! Every single screen you post makes me want this video even more. Milkdud's ride looks amazing. This ride/with the theming is the best coaster on the forum!!

01-28-2005, 09:16 PM
OMG the lift hill looks so....spooky! I couldn't even recognize my own coaster at first :p. I can't wait to see more!!! :D

Mind if I use it as wallpaper on my 'puter?
Hehe, just tryed that out and it looks so awesome! Do you mind SIM?

01-28-2005, 10:51 PM
The smoke/fog/mist is a great effect to the graveyard scene. I've never tried it myself, but it looks like it adds a lot.

Anyway, it looks great!

01-29-2005, 12:43 AM
Wow, this is looking amazing, man am I jealous. The link to the Shift+O link isnt working can anyone fix it? I really could use it.

01-29-2005, 02:30 PM
LOL... I've been finding myself checking back every couple HOURS hoping for an update!!!!

The lift hill looks AWESOME!!!!

01-29-2005, 03:49 PM
omg simbolism, I've been watching this ride from the start, and I'm so impressed. I wish I could learn to theme like you do. Maybe you could make a tutorial. PLEASE

01-29-2005, 04:17 PM
Very cool. definately cant wait for the video on this one.

DJ Atomix
01-29-2005, 08:25 PM
AWESOME! I like all the different effects in this ride. I can't wait until you finish it and make a video!

I need help with where to get/make an avatar. If you know of a place, please PM me.

01-29-2005, 09:18 PM
feedback = :heart: Thank you!

Terraforming is nearing completion

@fromthestart: Thanks for the compliment :D The best thing I can recommend is to think in terms of "scenes" . Lifthill scene, graveyard scene, station scene, exterior scene, etc. Study architecture books to get inspiration for your srtuctures. Try to convey a certain mood with your landscaping, buildings and scenery... And get to love your shift key :P

@Phantom: Thanks  You're nearly as obsessed as I am! I'm flattered you guys are using my screenie as your desktop! <blush>

@TheButcher: Thanks - I'll check on that link

@YNH. @Milkdud & Griffman: Thanks gang :D

Just a few more tweaks and then video production begins!

01-29-2005, 09:23 PM
That is looking awesome with the new terraforming Simbolism. My meeger attempt on my 1st build coaster is like a drop of water to your floodgate of talent. Can't wait to see the new video.

DJ Atomix
01-29-2005, 09:25 PM
Whoa! It...It...It...It...IT looks awesome. And did you say almost time for the video? I...I...I...I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

01-29-2005, 09:46 PM
Your use of building pieces is absolutely amazing. I marvel at your architecture every time you give us an update. You are a master at creating building that fit the mood. I like the fog as well.

01-29-2005, 09:53 PM
thank you so much simbolism :) I can't wait for the vid, I know it'll be awesome. I guess I'll have to go find architecture books lol. I really am inspired to try making a ride, I think I will :)

01-29-2005, 10:06 PM
Two thumbs up, man.

Although I'm not that big a fan of that haunted house scenery item you got on one of those mountains...It looks too cartoony in my oppinion.:bulb:

Great jorb.

DJ Atomix
01-29-2005, 10:10 PM
Yes, I agree great jorb! HAHAHA Sorry, it just sounds too funny!:haha:

01-29-2005, 10:37 PM
Very nice! Can't wait for more!!!!!!

01-29-2005, 10:50 PM
Thank you everybody! And have fun building, fromthestart! :D

I agree YNH. The haunted house doesn't fit in with the rest of the architecture. That last screenie I posted was a "helicopter shot"

I've taken precautions to ensure that peeps don't see the spooky house except while on the ride. The paths, landscaping and buildings all play a part in "hiding" The Stake's best "scenes"

Peeps will never see the creepy house from the park:

01-29-2005, 10:54 PM
All of your pics are am azing Simbolism! Can't wait for more! (yes I say that about your park a lot!:D )

01-29-2005, 10:56 PM
All I can say is: I can't wait for the video....and those are some HUGE buildings....and the landscaping is incredible.....and OMG!!!!

01-29-2005, 11:02 PM
Nice job SIM, be sure to give those construction workers a raise for all that increadible work they did on the buildings.:D: Also great job on the wooden stake Milkdud, can't wait to visit the rides.

I'm overclocked and ready to RIDE.

01-29-2005, 11:04 PM
sighhh..... I hate how I want your design abilities lol Very well done as usuall :D :p

01-29-2005, 11:11 PM
Simbolism, your buildings are absolutely breathtaking. You've definetly raised the bar time and time again.

Pair that with your unmistakable eye for terraforming... and, well... I've got nothing more to say.

And, if you knew me at all... me being speechless doesn't happen very often. :haha:

Simply AMAZING work!

01-30-2005, 01:41 AM
Thanks again for the superkind sentiments - i'm positively glowing :D

And, I'm having soooo much fun :D:D:D

I can't get enough of this giant skull prop. Expect to see lots more of it around Frightmare!

FX Courtesy of RCTPyro.com (http://www.rctpyro.com)

Video production starts tonight!

01-30-2005, 02:13 AM
The Wooden Stake looks awesome! Frightmare is a great park :D

01-30-2005, 08:28 AM
Just one word describes it SIM....Awesome!

01-30-2005, 08:35 AM
Can't wait for the video!!!!!!:D :D

01-30-2005, 10:01 AM
Ahhh, so that;s RED SMOKE! COOOOL! :D I saw the red smoke in another pic and was wondering what the redness was...That's super cool! :p

Also, I was playing with the advanced particle editor to make some slow moving mist, however, all I was able to make was fog that covered the bottom of the ground. it was pretty eerie in the APE, but then when it became a firework, it looked bad because it was too short but I think I know how to fix that problem. BUt my comoputer froze in the APE and when I restarted my computer something odd happened with the monitor's display and I can';t open RCT3 :(

01-30-2005, 01:27 PM
That smoke looks awesome

I've started playing around with the particle editor, but i was wondering how you get the smoke ect to be there all the time. If i set it as a firework then it will play it once and then not again til the next day :(

Can't wait to see more :D

01-30-2005, 02:14 PM
Cool! The red smoke is a nice effect. Makes everything even more eerier than it already is.

I definately can't wait to see more work from you. Every detail in your rides adds a much needed and often overlooked aspect into a rides experience. I look up to you in my creations and can't wait to see more from you in the future.

02-06-2005, 06:02 AM
yet another awsome park in the works Sim.. I always look for new updates from you.

02-07-2005, 01:31 PM
Thank you for the kind sentiments!

@satriales: The "smoke" show starts when the park opens (at 7:45 PM) and lasts until the park closes (2 AM). That way, there is always fresh smoke coming up.

@Phantom: Thanks for the gift - we'll have to get something going together very soon.

@cp_diva: Thanks mate, it's a great compliment coming from one of the Diablo creators.

It took a little longer than expected, but the Wooden Stake video is finally complete!

Download Wooden Stake Video (http://www.simbolism.com/RCT3/FM/woodenStake_640.wmv) (36 MB)

A special thank you to Milkdud for producing such a fun coaster to theme.

And to Mulefisk & RCTPyro for providing some special effects ideas

And a nod to the Diablo crew for inspiring the title sequence

and to Bello & Griff - who are waiting patiently in the wings

and to you all in the community who have given me tremendous support

CP_Diva and I have been waiting and refreshing the forum all night for this... and now I'm really intrigued! Can't wait to see what this is all about.

Except... our CURSED dial-up connection has set a 2-hour download ahead of us. I'm sure it will be more than worth it! :D

02-08-2005, 03:06 AM
Fantastic work guys - great coaster, MD and wonderful visuals Simb! The combo worked out wonderfully - excellent video, and professional opening sequence. Bravo!

02-08-2005, 05:33 AM
Finally finished that download.... *whew!* :weird:

The opening shots were great. Really showcases how much work you put into theming what peeps will see before the ride. I only noticed a few shots of the theming around the actual track. This is my only bit of constructive criticism on the vid. You can only see so much during an on-ride video, and it's difficult to concentrate on both the track layout itself, and what's going on outside the actual ride. I would have liked to see a few more shots that showed off the amazing theming that you are flying past on the ride too fast to appreciate.

I understand not wanting to show off too much of "what's in store" before the actual on-ride video. Perhaps a few 'closing shots' after the on-ride. I know how much work goes into the theming inside the ride area, and you've done a great job with it. Show it off a little more!

The ride was fun, and disorienting... always a good thing! Theming was excellent. Video production was great.

Simbolism does it again! Great job!

02-08-2005, 06:28 AM
Bravo once again Simbolism.

The intro was spectacular. Your logo and Milkduds looked top notch. I loved the way you did the credits at the beginning.
The fonts that you use just blow me away. Where do you get them all?

The scenery was very nice. You and Milkdud finally made me like a wooden coaster. The ride is one I will take many time in the future.... I saved it to my hard drive ;)

At the end, was that increase in the light something like maybe the sun coming up? If so, my hat is off to you.

Oh... the guillotine at the beginning, wow what a mood setter.

Oh... Oh... the king chess piece in the grave yard was a smart way to work a cross into it.
I mean what is a grave yard without one, cross that is?

There is a lot more I could say but I will leave it to others.

02-08-2005, 06:34 AM
What a spectacular ride! The music was fantastic too, a real mood setter. I love the way you can see hills and dips going over as you climb the lift hill, it's a really nice idea. Bravo to Simbolism and Milkdud!

02-08-2005, 07:38 AM

WOW Simbolsim, WOW. That was absolutley amazing! The beginning credits gave me goosebumps, and the music was perfect! I got goosebumps about 4 times through-out the video :p. The scenery was BREATH TAKING and...and...BRILLIANT! I'm going to go watch it about 5 more times now :haha:

02-08-2005, 11:01 AM

WOW! I shall forever worship the almighty.....Simbolism!

02-08-2005, 06:10 PM
that was so awesome. Words can't describe it!

aewsome video, btw. unfortunately it stopped for me at 3:51 and started buffering again, or whatever.what program(s) do you use for editing?

02-08-2005, 07:31 PM
Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@FkTheDuck: Hmmm - have you tried right-clicking and "save target as"?

@rct addict: Open/Close is on a 24 hour clock. Anything PM is time +12. So 10:30 PM would be 22:30. The settings are in your Park Options dialog

@Terimose: Yes indeedy - the day/night cycles are timed to one full circuit of The Stake. Did it by accident, but liked how it turned out :)

02-08-2005, 08:03 PM
Congratulations Milkdud on an impressive coaster design! Very intricate and well-paced. Catching glimpses of other sections of the track built up the anticipation, wondering how it was all going to fit together.

And the theming, landscaping and building... wow, you keep pushing to new heights, Simbolism. I played the clip a number of times, hitting pause in several places to enjoy the view. I wish that skull with the cool red smoke was about 4 or 5 notches lower so I could have enjoyed lookign at it for a longer period of time as the coaster heads towards it.

Definitely my favorite ride video done so far!

Edit: Dang, forgot to mention how nice the intro credits were. That spooky graveyard with mist effects really turned out superbly!

02-08-2005, 10:05 PM
Wow, it is a dream,
good thing, i've found some advanced RCT users on this forum then,
i really love the fog effect and milkdud's wooden coaster, it is a long trip around, love everything but not much same compare to first one, cryptkeeper because crypt have more scenery around than wooden stake, but it is fun ride esp with firework effects around.

Hope u will able to do on 3rd coaster. :)

02-09-2005, 12:31 PM
Simbolism, again I have to take off my hat. Also, very well done Milkdud, impressive coaster.
What can I say more:
-Excellent coaster Milkdud.
-Excellent use of scenery and special effects simbolism.
-Excellent video editing.
-Excellent park.
-Excellent all!:D
You are one of the best park makers of this forum, well done. With your parks you make people, like me, to continue doing better and better our park, you are the one that inspires us. Well done.
A question: Which movie editor you use?, because its a fabolus editing.

Great job Simbolism and Milkdud!

VERY AWESOME VIDEO!!! Great coaster Milkdud!!! I would've posted this sooner, as in yesterday, but I was having forum problems (e-mail- typed in the wrong one and it got mad, but it is fixed now:)).

I can't imagine what you will... oops said too much.

Great coaster Milkdud, and Top-notch theming as usual Simbolism!

Put a smile on!:D

Hats off to Simbolism and Milkdud! Beautiful work from the both of you. Thanks for keeping us so entertained!

Clean out your pm box!:D Things are getting a little "twisted" around here. (Download that same video again before you do... It's been updated)

02-11-2005, 06:40 PM
Simbolism does it again! Another brilliant job themeing a ride that isn't even yours. I would think it's difficult, but he takes us to new heights. From the rumors I hear around the mill, the next production from Simbolism will hit close to home and be even better than his first. Keep up your excellent work!

02-12-2005, 03:54 AM
I'm excited!!!!!! This park is coming along so great!

>>>BUT<<<, I hope it's gonna be more than just a few videos....

I don't care if it's a full blown "scenario" or not, I just can't wait to try your parks out on my own computer!!!! While a scenario would be great, I hope you'll share the parks with us once you're happy with them!!!

Keep up the GREAT work!!!!! to Sim and his incredible theming/park design, as well as his "elves"!!!!

I know it's redundant, but now you "owe" me an update!!! (LOL)
Keep up the great work, everyone!!!!

02-12-2005, 04:02 AM
By The Way....... (sorry for the double post).....

I did a search and looked back a few months.....
I got a real kick out of it when I recognised some of your earlier designs, and put them all together with your current stuff....

You've been having a ball with RCT3!!!! (How's that for an understatement?!?!?) :D

You're earlier designs were VERY good, but you can definately see the difference between then and now!!!!

Hi gang,

Long time, no post!

As it appears that I don't have the same copious amounts of free time that I had back in 2005 when I was making Frightmare, I have decided to put up the .DAT file of the park in its unfinished state. By downloading the file, you can check out all of the little details that didn't translate well in the screenshots and videos.

So... go ahead and download and have fun. You can download the file HERE (http://simbolism.com/rct3/fm/frightmare.zip).

Happy downloading and hope all is well with you, my long lost community.

Wow. It's an honor to talk to you, Simbolism. Your name is just what you are. A symbol to all of us of a supreme user of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. Without your parks, many of us would lack inspiration for our parks. I'm not sure what else to say besides... thank you.
