"This is almost a restaurant"

How to do a cafeteria "feel" food service area. In this case, okay, it's burgers.
First set a checkerboard path "floor" as you see in image one, and do all the seating, lamps, etc.
http://img40.exs.cx/img40/2430/resttutorial3xk.jpg

Next put two shops the same inside, or a mall type "court" along one side. This is just an example.
Note railings are just "filling in" for walls, etc. entrance and exit, you decide, but leave one "Sort of" path through for exit.

Next place the rest of the path files to fill in the space completely and viola! You now have an almost real rest. food court area. Note the 2 bathrooms off to one side.

Does having a bathroom next door to a food stall affect the food stalls usage? Just out of curiousity because I know in real life I would probably avoid the food stall that is next to a filty bathroom which is what most bathrooms are in *some* parks, so i've always avoided putting bathrooms right next to food stalls.

Or does it not make any difference?

I have few comments about this setup.

1. Overall Good Setup and idea!

2. Seperating Bathrooms and Eating areas tends to help with traffic conjestion. I would place a bathroom nearby but on the opposite side of a main path so traffic to and from isn't as intermixed. You want as much room for groups waiting for people to eat as possible if you have groups waiting for people to pee also the space becomes more conjested. Oh and I get the concept of including the bathrooms for realism just pointing out how the game makes it less practical.

3. I would make the entry path go straight to the stalls without anything in the way. This will help peeps get there easier. Possibly bring it in from the side like the exit path. (i might have the entry and exits reversed) if I do I would clear the path to the exit.

4. If you want to create enter and exit points use the no entry signs just make sure they're on the right block facing the right way.

On a side note... I've been placing transportation ride stations just off of my main paths. I then place 2 paths on either side of the station and they go behind it. In the area behind it I setup an area similar to the one discussed here. This way peeps coming off their long monorail or chairlift ride are able to get a drink and some food right when they get off. My eatery areas are slightly bigger than this one but I don't have seating, which I'm going to add next time I play.

In this case entry is by the drink stand, exit out center front. Guys, these are just to show, bathrooms, stalls, anything, put wherever you want or layout however you like. This was just to "show" the abilities and possible arrangements.

Also remember this would end up "indoors", the railings are just to control "space"

I like this. How does it play out with Peeps stopping by? Can they get into the sitting area and eat. With the benches on all four sides, are they able to walk between the 'wall sides' of the back of the benches and sit and eat their food?

Cool look though.

Yes, the benches don't "block" the entire "side", neither do lamps or bins...

This layout just screams for picnic benches. :haha:

I have a bit of a different take on this restaurant idea ... in one of my parks I used some of the scenery to create a food court area that has the feel of a greenhouse, and rather than do the square idea, I ran it as a rectangle.

That's nice. The restaurant in my tutorial s just a bsic design to display how you can create seating, no walls on purpose. I have done far more than just what you see in those pic's.
For example there's this:

This:

And then there's the three story mall shown here:
http://img246.echo.cx/img246/4352/mallfinal5hk.jpg

All are multi floor, fully operating as well as four others. Alien Station is a small mall/food court, Mall Marinarus has all shops from generic and sci fi themes in it.

For a thread of this type, it's not a problem, new peeps come along all the time.... Glad he did, or I'd have missed that those images were "lost"

TheSkipper your building are well thought out as most of your ideas, I wish there was a building exchange so that we would be able to download some of your designs. Good job in helping and showing the community how you’re able to bring these things together. One of the new features in Soaked is new modifications or improvements in the building tools. In an interview it was mentioned there would be improvement for laying out roofs.

Can't speak as to what may be in an expansion <cough> However, all these buildings ARE free to use by all, cause thay are all in my parks, and going to get the building tutorial, you can get that park as well.

Oh, might want to delete your double post? ;)
