After getting bored with the park that I was originally working on (See the Cabrakan thread (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=445968) ), I started working on something I began way back in the early days of RCT2. Revisiting some old ideas, and reinventing them in the 3D world is taking quite some time, but I was excited to get some feedback early on.

The park is just getting started, the problem lies in the slow process of scenery building in RCT3. There's much, much more to come... but comments, suggestions, criticism are all welcome in this stage of the game. Take a look, and please leave your ideas!

Without further ado:

Download The Promo Video:
First Look: Six Flags Gotham City (http://rapidshare.de/files-en/464790/Six_Flags_Gotham_City_Promo__1.wmv.html) 2Mb File - Low Quality
First Look: Six Flags Gotham City (http://rapidshare.de/files-en/465517/Six_Flags_Gotham_City_Promo_6MB.wmv.html) 6Mb File - Higher Quality

I actually said "Hell yeah!" outloud when I saw the bat symbol.

The video looks friggin sweet! And the park looks friggin better than sweet!

01-28-2005, 09:34 PM
WOW!!! Gotham City looks SUPER DOOPER!!!! The bat symbol is sweet! :p And I got so happy when I saw you used my rollercoaster tunnel idea :D GREAT promo video, it gots me itching for more!(if that makes any sense)

Oh and btw, Rapidshares file limit is 20 MB not 2

01-28-2005, 10:25 PM
Okay, I'll admit I can't count the zeros  I added another file, much better quality at a 6MB download.

I wish I wasn't on dial-up or I'd offer up the original 29Mb video file... ::hangs head in shame::

But, thanks for the feedback so far! Inspires me to continue working on the park! Thanks guys! :D

01-28-2005, 10:36 PM
Very nice!

Is your Batman modeled after a real-life version? I looks similar to the SFOG one, but not quite. I'm looking forward to the video!

01-28-2005, 10:44 PM
Nope, the Batman ride, I call this one Batman: Dark Defender, is a completely unique design. I just used a similar color scheme, for obvious reasons.

01-28-2005, 11:29 PM
Yeah, it just wouldn't be a Batman ride without Black, Grey, and Yellow.

Bitter Jeweler
01-28-2005, 11:56 PM
Very cool! Milkdud track tunnel trick looks great in action!
I loved the lauch tunnel as well.

That "Wicked Twister" coaster....makes me scream like a girl, I hate going backwards, but I loved the ride better than Top Thrill(at Cedar Point).

The Batman coaster looks very fine, like a must ride, when you release the park.

01-29-2005, 12:13 AM
Thanks for the encourangement so far guys! Especially coming from all of you... Bitter Jeweler, Milkdud, Simbolism... all of you guys have some amazing work! A lot of it has been inspiration for me to start working on Gotham City again and dig it out of my brain from way back to early RCT2 days.

01-29-2005, 01:05 AM
I just finnished watching your video......wow..... that was great.
The transistions were well timed. The entire video was a joy to behold. You timed the music just right.

As for the park, man.... The coasters look great. The one were we twist straight up then fall backwards reminded me of the scene in the batman movie where Batman flies the bat plane up thur the clouds and falls back to earth.

It is a shame your on dial-up. I have been there, I fell your pain.

01-29-2005, 01:21 AM
Holy kick-a%$ vid batman! I agree with the rest of them, you did some great work here. I can't wait to see all the stuff you have not been able to post until recently. Keep it coming! :D

I finished the station for Batman: Dark Defender this evening after getting so much positive feedback in such a short amount of time. This really helps motivate me to keep working on this project.

The SF:GC Logo

An Overview of Batman: Dark Defender. I want to keep this area pretty much as is, with just simple trees as far as scenery. This part of the park will be the grounds surrounding Wayne Manor.

Wayne Manor serves as the station for Batman: Dark Defender.

The back side of Wayne Manor, and exit from the station. The cobra roll wraps itself around the lift hill. Those stone lions provide quite a nice 'footchopper.' The small building on the far right behind the exit staircase is a temporary housing for an on-ride photo booth. I'm unhappy with it's current state, and it will be changed soon.

Another overview shot of Batman: Dark Defender at dusk. I really like how the station turned out with the amber-colored glass. And yes, that barrel roll is threaded inside the vertical loop... another insane 'footchopper' moment.

Things still to work on in this area:

The entrance of the ride (Well, to the queues, actually) needs something dramatic... right now, there's just not a whole lot going on down there.

I'm thinking of someway to 'fake' the BatCave, underneath the overbanked turn (Underneath the first drop). The overbank makes for such a perfect shape to do something like that underneath it. However, with the terraforming tool being how it is, making a 'cave' just isn't possible. I've just started toying with land/scenery combos to see if I can somehow fake that into looking like something decent. If you've got any ideas, let me know.

01-29-2005, 02:10 AM
Nice work, added to my site.

01-29-2005, 10:36 PM
Thanks Dean! I love your RCTPyro site... what site will you be adding this to?

01-29-2005, 10:40 PM
Looks good! Can't wait to see more!:D

01-29-2005, 11:02 PM
That ride looks freakin' great! I love the fenced-in queve area. I actually love everything about the ride. The coaster as a whole looks great, along with the awesome station building, queve area, trees, terraforming (is that the word for terrain painting?), EVERYTHING!

Oh and the site I believe Dean is refering to is RCTVisions.info

01-29-2005, 11:51 PM
Y'know.. being a ride operator at Cedar Point for two summers has that effect on you.... you end up making sure that your coasters have low-zones in the proper places, that they're fenced off, filled in with gravel (The terrain-painting you referred to). ;) Just little details like that, that I had to look at day in and day out for two years just stay with you. But, in this case, I think they just help create a more realistic experience. Or at least... that's what I'm hoping for!

Thanks for your comments... they really do keep me going! :D

01-30-2005, 12:00 AM
Wow, that ride truly looks incredible. I cant wait to see the finished park. Keep up the good work.

01-30-2005, 12:04 AM
Thanks! Check out the video (First post in this thread) for a sneak peak of a little bit more of the park!

01-30-2005, 04:08 AM
Dark Defender is simply stunning! Very realistic! And superb landscaping and architecture with Wayne Manor. Bravo!

01-30-2005, 05:08 AM
I have one word for you : Amazing!
I'm loving that tunnel. Very original!
Th enterance is also looking great. Can't wait to see more!

01-30-2005, 08:54 AM
I was looking at the logo and have to say it is pretty cool!:D Love the theming and keep up the great work!

01-30-2005, 11:54 AM
Dark Defender is going to be an awesome ride! The queue line reminds me of a hedge maze, which is perfect for a manor!

01-30-2005, 12:42 PM
But, in this case, I think they just help create a more realistic experience. Or at least... that's what I'm hoping for!
Oh it does! Trust me :D

01-30-2005, 12:47 PM
WOW

Good job on Gotham City!

01-30-2005, 01:52 PM
I'm hoping to have an video specifically for Batman: Dark Defender ready for you guys soon. I've just got to work on the entrance and exit a little bit, and do a little tweaking to the autospiel.

Yes, I said autospiel.

Just wait... the fun has barely even begun. :D

02-02-2005, 06:50 AM
Sorry about the lack of updates. I haven't abandoned this project... not by a long shot. I've just been really busy helping a friend of mine on a project he's getting ready to release. This thing takes what you can do with the limited scenery in RCT3 to new levels. Be sure to keep an eye out for Diablo , it should be released soon!

Anyways... I'll be getting back to this park soon. I've been working at it a little bit here and there, just nothing major to update here yet. I just wanted to let you know that this has only temporarily been put on the back burner.

02-07-2005, 05:03 AM
Now that the Diablo project is finished, I've been able to work on Gotham City some more. I'm pretty sure I've got ADD when it comes to this park, because I find myself bouncing around from ride to ride, doing a little bit here and there, so in most of these screens, you'll see unfinished buildings, scenery, paths, etc. I just wanted to give you a look at what's been going on in the park as far as ride construction is concerned.

As always, comments, suggestions, and constructive criticism are welcomed! On to the screens:

The entrance plaza still needs a lot of work. I haven't touched that building since this all started, but expect to see that thing grow. Cosmetic work around the gates hasn't begun yet.

Mr. Freeze : Chill Factor, A twist off of the original. The Gotham City Cryogenics Facility which houses the launch tunnel still needs to be completed. At night, the strobe lights bouncing off of Milkdud's track-tunnel look excellent. I'm not sure if I like the skyscraper behind the tower. I just threw that in there to try it out and see how it looked. If it stays, more buildings need to go around it so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Two-Face, just your standard Invertigo ("Face/Off") shuttle coaster. This was in the park very early on, and the station is extremely simple. Doesn't really fit the 'Gotham City' feel of the rest of the park... but as of right now, I've no idea what to do with it. Haven't touched it since it's original build.

Robin : Vertical Vengeance, Double Twisting Impulse. Another one that went in the park very early on. The station is simple, but I like it how it is. I'm toying with the idea of removing those trees behind the ride, and building a cityscape there instead. Would help it fit in to the park better.

Riddler's Revenge, a B&M Standup that's inspired by the original. I finally got a ride design I was happy with after several attempts. This is the first version of the station that I just finished a while ago. I'm not sure if it will stay like that... I need to look at it again when I'm not half-awake.

An overview of Riddler's Revenge. You'll notice parts that are similar to the original, but I've decided to put my own spin on things.

That's where we stand right now. I have a LIM-launched spaghetti bowl of my own design that's loosely based on the off-the-shelf versions that will go into the park as Joker's Jinx soon. My next mission is coming up with a design for Catwoman that I'm happy with. I've spent several hours working on the design. As of yet, however, I haven't come up with anything that I'm satisfied with. If you're following this project, thank you for checking in from time to time. And a big thank you to everyone who's given me such positive feedback so far... it really helps to know that all of this work is appreciated!

02-07-2005, 12:38 PM
Stunning

I love the unique style this park has - you made it feel like a batman park

02-08-2005, 02:34 AM
Thank you!

I've done more work on Riddler's Revenge today. The ride now runs through a run-down 'warehouse district' of sorts. I've just started on it.

Most of my time I set aside tonight to work on the park, however, was eaten up by drooling over screenshots of the expansion pack. :D I can't wait.

02-08-2005, 03:09 AM
Entrance plaza = WOW - great use of the theater, superb architecture and awesome landscaping

Mr. Freeze = WOW- Can't wait to see that one in action

Two/Face = WOW - It may be a standard, but yours is very well executed

Robin = WOW - I dig the stationhouse

Riddlers Revenge = WOW - Your twist on RR looks outstanding - I can't wait to take it for a ride. Riddlers Revenge is my #1 favorite coaster IRL - and you've done it justice

In a word... WOW.

02-08-2005, 03:25 AM
Beautiful theming job on your coasters! Even the ones you're not particularly happy with look awesome. Can't wait to see them looking even better as you add more!

02-08-2005, 07:21 AM
Awesome work... Those coasters are some of the most realistic looking designs I've seen on here (I think this is mostly due to the little detials, like fencing in the dangerous, peep-smashing parts..lol) Your experience of working in a real park shows...

And they definitely convey a good sense of Batman and Gotham City...

So, you've worked at CP? Do you live around here (I'm from Norwalk)? Not that it matters, but it's always nice to see a local "face" on this great big, world wide web...lol

I had a brainstorm concerning your Two-Face ride... Perhaps you could find a way to add "double-sided" scenery along the ride? So that peeps facing one way see one type of theme, and the peeps facing the other way see a different theme? Like build some thin buildings (two tiles thick), with one side looking all dark and ominous, and the other side bright and cheery? lol

I like the idea of adding a cityscape behind the Robin ride... There's probably not much else you can do to it to make it fit in with the rest of the park... Perhaps throw in a Circus ride nearby to show Robin's background?

02-08-2005, 10:48 AM
Wow! This looks amazing! Keep up the good work.

Also, the video was strung together very nicely

02-08-2005, 11:13 AM
I don't know what to post here... no really, those buildings are stunning esp. the one at the entrance with the bat symbol... and the coasters too.. I really envy them coz I could never build like that... talk of building, I couldn't have even imagined them...
P.S. I really try building realistic structures and coasters but I just don't seem to get that right recipe... I think my imagination level is low...

02-08-2005, 11:47 AM
Your park is awesome. I have started construction on a park call The Justice League. One of the 7 sections is dedicated to Batman. In no way am I attempting to step on your work. My Batman section could never match your beautiful Gothem City. I just wanted to give you a heads up. I love your work.

The Robin : Vertical Vengeance looks great. I think it is my favorite so far.

After seeing the chess peices in front of the ride, it somehow jogged my memorie. If you start to run out of Ideas for rides or shops, you could alway do one on the The Royal Flush Gang that fought against the new Batman. You would have some scenery that might work well with them. How about Harley Quinn, will you include her?

Anyhow I am looking forward to your next Update.

02-08-2005, 01:08 PM
That entrance is abosolutly fantastic, I love the Batman sign in it (My mario face is not so rounded as your beautifull sign:up: ), and the coasters look very real. Good job.:D

02-08-2005, 03:37 PM
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I hope to get more work done on the park again today. Look for new screens tonight... hopefully.

@ Teirmose: I took a look at your park, I really like the front of your Great Hall. The back of the building is kinda blocky and could use some more detail, but the front windows are awesome! I was toying with the notion of using Arkham Asylum to enclose Joker's Jinx... but I don't want to step on your toes there. It might show up in the park, just in a very different form. Harley Quinn is one of my favorites from the series, but I don't know if she'll be included. Poison Ivy will be getting a coaster -- the hydroponics buildings make for too good of a station to pass up!

@SSGX: I'm trying to go for realism with just a touch of fantasy here. I want this to look like a place that could actually exist. Thanks for your comments... makes me feel like I'm starting to get there! And yep... I'm in Sandusky. :p Great idea with the Two-Face ride! I'll have to start toying around with that and see what I can come up with!

@Simbolism: Once again, you're too kind. My buildings aren't nearly at the quality of yours.. but I'm trying!

@i_feel_sick: I couldn't build a square box to save my life when I first started. Taking a look at what can be done with the pieces available, looking at what other people have done, looking at actual architecture and attempting to recreate it, and looking at the available pieces for totally different uses than what they were intended for really helps me out. I've still got a lot to learn. There's several people on this forum who build much more outstanding structures than myself, but I keep trying until I find something I like. I can spend hours building and destroying until I'm happy.. and the same goes for rides. Keep at it, and you'll eventually get the hang of it! :)

@ElBlufer: Thank you! That's only the second video I've done so far. Lots of room for improvement. Learned a lot more with working on Diablo, and have a TON of ideas for Gotham City.. once I get more construction completed.

@ Everyone else: Again.. I can't say thank you enough for your comments and suggestions with this. It really, really helps push me along in continuing to work on it. Thank You!!!

02-08-2005, 04:44 PM
This is going to rock the socks off of everyone in the forums. The time spent on this project will far outweigh anything I have seen thus far. The level of detail is fascinating. Keep an eye on this thread for great things to come!

02-08-2005, 06:17 PM

Please use whatever you want to use. You have an entire park to build. I just did a section in my park. I don't have any paten on this stuff. I would love to your version of Arkham Asylum. Poison Ivy sounds like a great idea. It should be fun to see your use of hydroponic building pieces.

02-08-2005, 11:54 PM
Well, I've done some more work on the "Warehouse District", home to Riddler's Revenge. There's still plenty more to do in this area, but it's starting to shape up quite nicely. The ride is a LOT more interesting weaving through the new scenery rather than just over flat grasslands. I can't wait until the whole thing is complete. Took a long time to figure out how to get a 'warehouse' look with the limited scenery pieces... it's not quite what I had wanted, but this is a great compromise. A special thanks to CP_Diva for pointing me in the right direction with the buildings! :D

Just a few screens this update:

Just a shot of the lift threaded through the loop, and the start of scenery at the bottom of the first drop.

The corkscrews over the midway, with the new water tower and warehouse placed inside the overbank between the corks.

An overview of the area so far. Still a long way from being complete, but a far cry from where it was in the previous update.

02-09-2005, 02:00 AM
This section of the Gotham City will be very unique. Something that I haven't really seen done at this level of detail often. Best of luck to you and thanks for the shout-out! Keep up the good...no excellent...work!

02-09-2005, 08:31 AM
Ur Riddler's Revenge looks brilliant,
just like in Six Flags MM..

Gotham City Skyscrapers will be challenge then, so are you gotta to build that?

i've booked this thread as subscribed

Cant wait see more

iceatcs :P

02-09-2005, 09:19 AM
Hi, ytivarg. Your Riddler's Revenge looks fantastic, I love the corkscrew that goes above the peeps:D . Has to be fantastic be there. And the warehouses are very good. Keep up the good work with this park!!!

02-09-2005, 10:18 AM
As said above, this version of Ridlers Revenge reminds me of Magic Mountain so much! Thats how well designed your ride is. Keep up the good work!

02-09-2005, 07:59 PM
Thanks guys! Unfortunatly, I had to work all day today, so no new work got done. But, I'm home now and gonna spend some time in the game. If I come up with anything I'm happy with, you'll see a few new screens late tonight. (For all you insomniac RCT'ers like me)

02-10-2005, 12:45 AM
Construction crews worked late into the night in the Warehouse District at Six Flags : Gotham City. The following shots show the progress around the park's B&M Stand-Up rollercoaster: Riddler's Revenge.

A panoramic shot of the construction site at night.

The entrance to the queue for Riddler's Revenge

A view of the station from atop the entrance building

From the ride's mid-course brake run. The station is just to our left, queues to the right. Straight ahead is the current construction project: a warehouse that partially contains the ride's switchback and figure-8 finale. Sure to be an exciting conclusion to the ride, with the train entering and exiting both the front and the back of the building in quick succession.

02-10-2005, 12:49 AM
RR is looking hella sweet. Superb work on the architecture. Particular faves are the station and the water tower. Fantastic!

02-10-2005, 05:02 AM
I love the entrance of RR, and the shoot in panoramic looks fantastic. Are you going to add scenery to the qeue zone?
Very well done, fantastic!!!

02-10-2005, 02:05 PM
Thanks! The queue hasn't even been touched yet, but it won't stay looking like that. There's a lot more to do, just not enough hours in the day! :D

02-10-2005, 04:43 PM
Brilliant design you got out there,
nightshots are fabs!
Custom Water Tower looks fantastic!
i would like to see the all the way what you have done.

Good work!

02-10-2005, 04:47 PM
Un-REAL is all I can say. This is turning out spectacular - many objects put to clever use! Can't wait to explore this park!

02-10-2005, 11:37 PM
Thanks again, guys. I had hoped to get more work done on the RR site tonight, but I just haven't found the motivation to do any work on it. Perhaps I just need a night away from the game and let my brain refresh itself.

I'll update again when there's more to see. Thanks for checking in, and all of your positive feedback.

02-10-2005, 11:48 PM
Absolutely stunning! I actually got a rush from that video. Looks great so far:up:

02-12-2005, 12:32 AM
Okay, maybe I need two nights away from this. Actually, I was abducted by my friends after work tonight and dragged out to dinner with them all. Apparently, I've been too anti-social lately for their tastes. Expect more work near the end of the weekend.

02-12-2005, 03:29 PM
How did you do all that neat stuff with the Staion and and the Entrances? It looks awsome. How did you do the station for this rideRobin : Vertical Vengeance?

02-12-2005, 08:07 PM
Using the various scenery objects, walls, roof pieces.. and a lot of patience.:haha:

02-13-2005, 10:56 PM
:haha: Very very nice.... I'm still humbled....

As a form of flattery, I've included a pic of this park and the link to this thread in a post on the SimCity4 site I visit as an example of the great things users are doing with this game. The link is here, http://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=47060

I included yours in with Inspiration Park and The Wooded Stake (along with two meager ones of my own), so I hope it's ok, and yes, credits were given. I just couldn't use mine, as they suck:rolleyes: :haha:

Again, this is terrific stuff here, can't wait for more!!

02-13-2005, 11:30 PM
Holy Mother of.. I love your park, just speechless.. Your rides are perfect and choosing the ptack layouts makes it a match made in heaven for the names.. I only have one question though, will you be creating a Penguin ride? For some reason people have forgotten about the Penguin.. But in any case love your work and the vid.. its just amazing.. but i did think to myself that the vid would have been more stunning if it where at night to create the real Batman theme.. but thats just my thought.. cant wait for more updates..

02-13-2005, 11:36 PM
oo, you could make the ride a water ride :) you know penguins>>water O.o

02-14-2005, 12:05 AM

Well, it worked... I'm officially flattered to have someone else pushing my stuff underneath people's noses other than myself. :haha: Thank you very, very much! That's the best reinforcement I've got so far! *blush*

That video was the second one I'd ever created, and I was just getting used to the process. Once this park gets a little further along, expect to see much more professional looking stuff. In the mean time, please check out the Diablo link on my signature. I had a hand in the creative process for the ride's scenery, and did the video production for it. This is a much better example of what I'm up to. And yes. The Penguin will be included in the park. I could never forget him. :D

You're a step ahead of the park's progress. As I said above, Penguin will be included in the park as Penguin's Plunge. But thanks for spoiling it for everyone! :haha: j/k!

@ everyone else reading this and looking for more updates:

I've reached my ADD limit on Riddler's Revenge, and need to start working on something else for a while. (Now, to be completely fair, I told you guys I like to bounce around here and there just to keep my interest! RR will get finished... eventually  )

I started working on Joker's Jinx tonight. A spaghetti-bowl LIM-launched coaster that will be enclosed inside Arkham Asylum. I had the land raised up in mountain peaks around the asylum, but I just wasn't happy with it and scrapped every bit of work I've done. Over an hour's worth of work down the drain. But, that's how I function with this game. I'm not going to keep working on something that I feel is sub-par.

So, that's where I am right now... I just scrapped everything I've done and quit the game... still a little bitter over losing that work, but... coming back to the forums to read all of this made it all better. (Awww! )

I might get back into the game again tonight.. but I'm still a little frustrated at the moment. We'll see.

02-14-2005, 03:22 AM

Truly superb work all the way around! This park is looking friggin amazing!:D

Just one quick question: how were you able to take that fantastic panoramic shot of RR??? That's really cool!

Looking at a park like yours with all of the excellent scenery and detail work makes a park like mine look practically empty! (I will be putting in a lot more detail in my park, but I don't expect that it will ever reach the bar that you've set!)

Once again, you are doing some fantabulous work here! Keep it up!

Your friend in gaming,

The panoramic shot is easy. Take a shot that shows off a wide shot of the area, zoomed out further than you normally would. It'll have way too much sky, and way too much foreground. Simply go into an image editor, and just crop it. Voila... you just took an Advantix camera to your park and set it on Panoramic. :D

Well, thanks. But don't be fooled. The park is still pretty empty. Just certain areas have been themed to this extent. Looking at the park right now as a whole, you can't help but think "That's it?!?" This project is a long way from being complete.... it's just about only showing what you want to be seen. ;)

Okay, so I scrapped the entire idea of working on Joker's Jinx right now... nothing I'm coming up with satisfies me. Instead, I've turned my attention back to the opposite corner of the park, where Two Face : The Flip Side rests. The coaster has been torn down and rotated, making room for Gotham City Harbor. Imagine your standard boardwalk, Gothamized.

I'll be posting screens as soon as there's a bit more to look at, but for now, it's time to go spend time with my valentine.

riddler = very nice, especially the station

02-15-2005, 06:04 AM
Amazing, Astounding, Absoloutely Stunning!

For a Park maker like me who loves realism this is the best work I've seen yet in RCT3 - Five Stars

I can't wait to download this park! :D

02-15-2005, 08:50 AM
Wow !

Do you know Tim Burton Studios ?

So beautiful, and I have to make a Batman Coaster cause Batman and Batman returns were made by Tim Burton...
I'll be very pleased if I could use your batman ride (with wayne's manor) in my park !
If you accept to let me use your coaster (and scenery if possible, excellent job !), your name will appear in the "credits" !:p

I know I'm a little late to your party 'ytivarg', but I've been viewing this post for a while and you've been the source of inspiration in my own park, encouraging me to be creative with various building materials and techniques.

The landscaping around Batman Dark Defender feels very natural and realistic. The trees and terrain is how you'd expect it to look in real life - varied, somewhat random, yet conforming to a unified look.

I so enjoy your tasteful combination of old with new in the Wayne Manor by using the Sultan's Palace elements, along with lots of glass.

Your entrance plaza is grand and lavish. Love the double staircases, but haven't been a fan of the colored brick. However it does add a texture contrast to the building it introduces.

Adding the warehouse and awesome watertower gives your park that nice "back lot" feel, combined with the mixture of the oil derricks.

And lastly, on the entrance to Riddler's Revenge, I love your use of the chess piece as a stand for the foliage. I've seen that used before in a water pool - maybe it was in another one of your parks, or by another creative person as well.

I've so enjoyed watching your park grow, and it looks just marvelous at night. Well done. Keep up the great work.

02-15-2005, 01:52 PM

Better late than never! :) Thank you so much for all your feedback. It's been a process to get things where they are. I'm such a perfectionist, and I'll spend hours building and deleting until I finally either find something I'm happy with or just plain give up.

Yep, I've been keeping tabs on your park. It looks great so far! I love Tim Burton's work. My first project when I got RCT3 was a fireworks show done to "This Is Halloween" -- I never finished it, it's really close, but not quite yet -- perhaps I should revisit that someday and finish it out. About using Batman: Dark Defender in your park. The ride layout will pretty much be staying the same, I think. I might have some tweaking to do on the track here and there, but the scenery/station/etc are far from complete. I still have my little perfectionist touches to tweak here and there before I release the ride.

@Digicub and bosox05:

Thank you again for the positive comments!

@Everyone Else:

I'm still working on Gotham City Harbor. Penguin's Plunge has been installed, and I'm starting to do theming around the area. Having trouble trying to make this area look a little differently than the warehouse district, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to put together color schemes now. Black, Grey, Purple, Yellow... just keep popping up all over the park. I kinda always knew that this would happen in the back of my mind... but, it's starting to show, and I need a solution quick.

Work's been going slow lately, because I've been doing SO MUCH building and then deleting. I'm feeling rather uninspired with everything right now. I apologize for the lack of updates... it's not that I'm not working on it every night, because I am... just, nothing that strikes me as the 'right' thing yet. *sigh*

Regardless, I hope to have more work done on the harbor tonight. Maybe screens tonight? Maybe not... who knows?!?

I can so relate. I feel I spend more time building buildings and laying out the landscaping than I do putting in rides. However, I do find great joy in the building possibilities since it makes the park come alive.

But I do miss the rides. Of course, I'm a perfectionist as well, so building a ride is just as time consuming as stacking walls. So many times to just "enjoy" the game, I open up a new sandbox and create a rollercoaster to just ride and scream with joy along with the peeps with no regard to landscaping.

But creating that yet-created park and showcasing it here in the forums is half the fun and joy. Stay at it, but make sure you have fun first.

Well, after a bit of inspiration... due hugely in part to Simbolism's suggestion (Thanks a million!), Penguin's Plunge has found it's 'frosty' home, bridging the gap between Mr Freeze : Chill Factor, and the new area: Gotham City Harbor. A ton of work still needs to be done to finish this area out... but now that I've found some schemes I'm happy with, I think the area will fall together nicely. Just a few screens tonight, because I've got to get up early for work... but, I've got the next day off... so expect a lot more work to be completed tomorrow night. Enjoy!

Two-Face finds it's new home at Gotham City Harbor. The entire ride is as yet unthemed, the station hasn't even been re-built from the transplant. You can see the edge of Penguin's Plunge at the far left of the screen.

http://img23.exs.cx/img23/2703/penguinsplungeoverview2rh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
An overview of Penguin's Plunge. The ride is far from finished. Station house still needs to be built, along with buildings alongside the left and right sides of the lift/drop.

Penguin's Plunge makes an 'icy' splashdown underneath the famous bridge from the opening of Batman Returns.

02-16-2005, 12:39 AM
Whoa - excellent, just pure excellent (love the Penguin's Plunge). Good tie-in name, delicious icy screens!

02-16-2005, 10:18 AM
Chills go up my spine in excitement! I so enjoy your approach to having the lift hill go up on an angle and cross over the plunge hill. It's that attention to detail that makes a good park great.

And that bridge...wow! Great use of the broken wall segments. Can't wait to see how you "fluff" the area.

02-16-2005, 10:56 AM
wow, those pics of penguin plunge make me feel cold just looking at them. I like the little half destroyed bridge too that goes over it.

Thanks everyone! The ride is based off of Snake River Falls at Cedar Point, hence the figure-8 design with the lift crossing the drop. I hope to have more work done on this area tonight & tomorrow. Expect more screens soon! :D

02-16-2005, 09:35 PM
....what everyone else said.....just plain wow!!!!!! this is some great stuff!!!! I love all the great names and themes of the coasters!!!!!!!!!

02-17-2005, 04:50 AM
So, we all know where the Penguin called home for so many years. What better station house than the Gotham City Water Treatment Facility?

Enjoy your romp in the sewers, kids! :D

This isn't a finalized station. To be honest, I'm not even sure I'm gonna keep it. Just thought it was a fun idea to start with, we'll see if it stays, if it grows, or if it gets scrapped with the million other things I've tried. Whatcha think?

02-17-2005, 05:01 AM
great !
love pinguin plunge station !
and love your whole park so far !

02-17-2005, 07:46 AM
As one of my favorite songs says: "Things just keep getting better..."

The use of the round roof pieces as "sewer pipes" is oh so clever. By far the best use of scenery pieces for a park. Keep up your excellent work (even if your sleep gets the ax)! ;)

02-17-2005, 11:47 AM
Not sure you're going to keep it? It's simply incredible. The entire look and theming of the area feels like it came right out of the movie. It's a keeper in my book.

One downfall with the game is when you want a ride to go through a structure, it seems rather blocky having to leave a wall out. Maybe by using the 180 curved roof piece from the Mars Station set (unsure about the name, the same set you used in the building), that would start the tunnel effect, as if you're entering a giant pipe. Just a thought.

02-17-2005, 01:18 PM
Keep up the great work on your park. Riddler's Revenge is my favorite by far. Your themeing is excellent!

02-17-2005, 02:41 PM
The station turned out looking fantastic, ytivarg! Love how you extended the pipes outside the building :)

02-17-2005, 11:08 PM
Well, a silly thought at 4am turns out to be a good thing, I suppose. :haha: I'm glad you all enjoyed the station, I guess I'll end up finishing it. There's much more to be done in the area, and I didn't get much time to work on it tonight to do the social events of the evening (ie: dragged to a local bowling alley and several pitchers of beer later  ), but I'll be working on it more the first chance I get!

02-19-2005, 11:51 AM
OMG, the Water Treatment Facility looks great.. cant wait for another update.. keep it up..

02-19-2005, 01:07 PM
All I can say is WOW! I realy love your park Im a huge fan of the batman rollercoaster at Six flags here in Illinoise but man you have a whole park dedicated to batman (sigh !!) If only it was a real park I would definatly be a season ticket holder . AS soon as your done with your park I want to download it so please keep us informed !!!

02-19-2005, 01:51 PM
Coool that park rocks man :D
Keep up the good work ;)
Howe do you make a panoramic shot?

02-19-2005, 02:19 PM
I figured I would go ahead and save ytivarg the trouble and post this.

02-20-2005, 08:20 AM
Alternatively, if you know a little bit about image editing, you can take multiple close-up shots, and splice them together to make the long view...

Zoom in to whatever distance will show your entire ride's height (bottom of the coaster is near the bottom of the screen, top of the highest hill is near the top of the screen; you get it, right?)

Anyways, move your camera to one end, take a shot, move it down a little ways (leaving some "overlap" of what was shown in your last shot), take another shot, and so on until you reach the other end of the ride...

Open PSP (or Photoshop, or whatever image editing program you have), create a new image that is as high as your screenshots, but much, much longer...

Paste the first shot into it at the corresponding end... Paste the next one next to that, lining them up so they appear seamless... And so on until you get them all in...

Like I said, it does take a bit more imaging knowhow (and a bit more work), but it's not too difficult to figure out once you mess with it...

02-20-2005, 08:30 AM
Tnx ! :) Thats cool :D
Yes im a little in Photoshop! :)
Gonna try it tnx

Back on-topic! :)
Any updates?

02-21-2005, 03:11 PM
Meanwhile, over in the Downtown Gotham corner of the park, Mr. Freeze : Chill Factor stood tall while the final pieces of Catwoman's track were been bolted into place nearby. With both coasters in place, the 'city' can finally be constructed around the two.

http://img9.exs.cx/img9/4631/catwomanbegins9yr.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

02-21-2005, 03:17 PM
She looks wicked, ytivarg!

02-21-2005, 07:08 PM
That coaster looks amazing! I'd love to see a video of it sometime soon. I can't wait to see the city, too, as your theming skills are top-knotch. Keep up the good work!

02-21-2005, 07:57 PM
haha ytvirg... i love the heart in the middle of the coaster. you truely captured the essence of Catwoman by adding on the quick turns, dark design, and the heart adds in the feminine touch that Catwoman has. Really cool.

02-21-2005, 10:41 PM
Just a little more work done tonight:

http://img8.exs.cx/img8/6603/catwomancarousel9nd.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Construction of Downtown Gotham's buildings begins around Catwoman's high-speed carousel.

http://img8.exs.cx/img8/4490/catwomanclamshellstation5fk.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Catwoman gets a sleek half-clamshell station design.

I'm beginning to wonder if I've tapped out all the possible uses for those curved space walls. Oh well, they just 'fit' in so many places!

02-21-2005, 11:04 PM
Looks wonderful (as usual). Loving how you wrapped the carousel around the building. Was that planned or did it just work out that way? Anyways, it's turning out great!

02-22-2005, 12:18 AM
I always had it planned that Catwoman would go racing through a downtown setting, doing aerobatic maneuvers off of rooftops and such. When the carousel fell into the track design, the idea of it wrapping around a building immediately became the plan. :D

02-22-2005, 02:21 AM
MEOW! Fantastic color scheme on her. Kinda a combo between the 60's version and the Burton rendition. I'm really digging the clamshell station and the city is turning out splendidly!

02-22-2005, 09:02 PM
Okay, I'm home, and about to get into the game, with tomorrow off of work.

Methinks an all-nighter is in order... yes? ;)

02-23-2005, 01:20 PM
A HUGE THANK YOU to Firewurx over at RCTPyro.com

After seeing his fantastic new fireworks shapes pack a while back, I made a request for something a little more.. how shall we say, specific? :D

He came up with this amazing firework for me to play around with inside Six Flags Gotham City:

http://img176.exs.cx/img176/6128/batmanfirework7os.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

You can download the firework from RCTPyro here: http://www.rctpyro.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=540

Again, a HUGE thank you to Firewurx. I can't wait to integrate this into the fireworks show that I've had since this whole project started!

02-23-2005, 01:58 PM
OMG!!! That is so friggin' cool!!!

That looks amazing and I'm sure that it will add a lot of personality to your park.

After taking one look at TheProfessor101's Main Street screenshots at Buckingham Estates (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=449539), I had finally found the inspiration I was looking for in the Gotham City Harbor area. I had been toying around with these walls in the area, but wasn't finding what I was looking for until I had seen his screens. Finally, this harbor area will fall into place. Basic outlines for other buildings in the vicinity have been laid out, but aren't visible from these screens. The whole Harbor area will be a step outside of the darker feel of the rest of the park, but I think it's a welcome change of pace. I think it will still hold the same 'feel' of the Gotham concept, but offer up the chance to walk through another 'world' from the rest of the park.

http://img210.exs.cx/img210/5791/harbortwoface5nd.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Coming down the Harbor Midway towards Two-Face and Penguin's Plunge

http://img140.exs.cx/img140/5009/harborbuilding16ip.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The building between Penguin's Plunge and Two-Face. Houses a handful of souvenier stalls, food and beverage, restrooms, and an ATM.

So far, the areas of the park include:

The Main Entry (Gotham City Hall, perhaps?) - The building behind the giant bat-logo flower bed. Originally the home to a monorail station, I've all but forgotten about the monorail concept. I don't know if the monorail will ever find a home in the final version. We'll see.

Gotham City Harbor - Home to Penguin's Plunge, Two-Face : The Flip Side, Centrifuge (an Enterprise ride tucked into the corner of Penguin's Plunge), and a few other flats that have yet to fall into place.

Downtown Gotham - Home to Mr. Freeze : Chill Factor, Catwoman, and again, a few flats that will find there way into the area as construction progresses.

Warehouse District - Home to Riddler's Revenge, Detonator (a TNT Vortex flat.. the theming on the ride just fits too well with the area... yet to find a final home, but will be in the area), and the yet to be built Arkham Asylum, which will enclose Joker's Jinx, my own version of a LIM-launched spaghetti-bowl coaster.

Arkham Asylum - Yeah, I just mentioned this with the Warehouse District... but, I'm unsure on this as of yet. The asylum would fit nicely (space-wise) in the back corner of the park behind Riddler's lift hill... but... I think it might end up becoming it's own area. It will have a totally different feel than the warehouse district... so, I dunno.. that's all up in the air right now. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

The As-of-Yet Unnamed Area (Possibly The Outskirts, Dark Forest, I dunno... nothing I'm happy with yet... open to suggestions!) - Home to Robin : Vertical Vengeance (I originally commented how I might remove the trees behind this ride and put a cityscape behind the ride... I've decided against it as it would become a repeat of Downtown Gotham at the opposite corner of the park... plus, I need a way to work in the theming of...), Poison Ivy... The story with Poison Ivy... ugh, I've been avoiding this chick like the plague. I had a brilliant sit-down B&M twister design with a launched lift - similar to Incredible Hulk at IOA... but I scrapped it. I started looking at the park as a whole rather than having my face in one area at a time. How many launch coasters do I need? (Freeze, Robin, Jokers, and Ivy made 4.. too many for my taste)... So far, every coaster with the exception of Robin is an inversion machine, do I need another one? Right now, my current thinking is that Ivy will become an Arrow Suspended, swinging through the forest, over misty lagoons and such (Working at Cedar Point intrudes yet again... sounds a lot like Iron Dragon :D )... but, like I said, I've been avoiding working on it simply due to the frustration factor.

and finally...

Wayne Manor - The center of the park, home to Batman : Dark Defender. Still haven't touched this area since the first time you saw it, despite the fact that I need to work on the entrance to the ride. I think I'm holding off to see how everything else will fall into place around it until I decide how I want the final product to look.

So, there's your official play-by-play. As you can see, there's a million and three things still to be done. But, the important thing is, I'm having so much fun. Sure, it gets frustrating at times... but this is actually the first time that I've kept at a single park for this long. Usually, I'll get one or two coasters done to my liking, and then abandon the entire project. So, I'm rather proud that I've been committed to this for as long as I have been, and I owe all of that to all of you here... the feedback you guys provide keeps me motivated to continue, to improve, and to stay focused. Thank you!

Actually, I've printed out many of your screenshots which I use for inspiration in my current and future park designs.

That's the joy of our community here. I believe each of us learns from each other. Some break new ground and raise the bar, which in turn opens a whole new area of design; particle editing and terraforming come to mind. Then we take that new idea and run with it using our twist of creativity which reflects our style. It's not really about who thought of it first (though there is great honor in being the first to try something new), but the joy is just creating and sharing.

02-23-2005, 11:44 PM
Probably the best work ive ever seen! EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT!!!! God i wish i could be as creative as you are! Definitely keep up the good work! Wonderful theming and rides and names and everything! I'm speechless with amazement!!!

The version I had of Poison Ivy before was themed using the space plants, if that's what you're referring to. I'm not so sure about making it a log flume, however.

@darkb4dawn511: Thank you so much!

Haven't had much time to work on the park these past few days, but I certainly haven't forgotten about it. As soon as I find myself some time to sit down and get more work done, I'll post more screens. Thanks again for all the feedback!

02-26-2005, 11:58 PM
Penguin's Plunge started as a watercoaster, but I had a hard time coming up with a design I was fond of. Watercoasters are definetly not my strong point as far as realistic designs go.

But, why is everyone so stuck on the fact that Poison Ivy has water involved? Maybe I'm just not seeing the connection.

02-27-2005, 01:04 PM
I thought you would make it a dark ride an logflumes and water rides are really easy to cove there is no tie to poisin ivy and water(not that i know of) sorry about the confussion i should of said this in the first place

Work progress in Downtown Gotham has been a little slow lately since I've been working on the next Gravity Films / maXair Production: Rocky Mountain Rumble (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=450712). But, I've found a little bit of time to plunk in a few more buildings and scenery.

More to come when it's available... until then, here's a quick overview of the area so far:

Good stuff. You have a fantastic imagination and take beautiful screenshots. Magical all the way.

Thanks all! Especially to you, circleVision. Looking at screens of your park has me itching to finish this one and start on something highly terraformed. Gotham City has extremely little terraforming... y'know.. going with the whole 'flat' Six Flags thing. Or, at least.. that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. :D

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. Work on Gotham City has come to a near stand still as of late, due to my focus on getting Rocky Mountain Rumble off the ground. This is an INCREDIBLY *HUGE* project... please, take a moment to check it out, click the link in my signature.

Once RMR is finished, I'll get back to work on Gotham City. Just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't abandoned it at all. I've just been focused on another massive project with cp_diva. Just as a general idea: Rocky Mountain Rumble is the size of all of Gotham City, and then some. Yeah, when we set out on a project... we do it like we mean it. :D

Since the start of all this, I knew I had to add an amphitheatre for your typical "Batman Stunt Show". Granted, I knew I wouldn't be able to pull off a stunt show in RCT3, so I wanted to use the amphitheatre for a laser light & pyrotechnics show at night.

I've made several attempts at the amphitheatre stage several times using only available scenery pieces... but came up unhappy with the results several times. After seeing what amazing work Plunkie86 has done with sculpting the land to meet his needs in his Coercion Dynamics (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=452504), I think I've found the inspiration for a simple, yet stylish stage.

Granted, this is just a start, and the amphitheatre will definetly encompass more than what you see here, but it's on the right track, finally. That's the great thing about this community, because it's funny how much inspiration you can get from looking at one screen of other's parks... this time the thanks goes out to Plunkie.

Anyway... just to see how the fireworks show will look from this angle, I've put together a very small, unfinished pyrotechnics test footage reel. Downloadable here:

Download Preliminary Pyrotechnics Test Footage (http://uploadhut.com/view.php/35510.wmv) (Approx. 2Mb)

Thanks for checking in, once again. Comments, suggestions, etc... as always, are more than welcome.

Hey ytivarg,

I'm glad that you were able to solve your problem with the amphitheatre (the fact that you got your inspiration from me is just an added bonus!;)).

I checked out your footage of the pyrotechnics. Looks great so far! Everything was synched with the music well. Can't wait to see what the finished product looks like!

BTW... The scenery work that you are doing is teriffic! Catwoman really turned out great!

Keep up the awesome work!:D

The stadium seating levels are constructed, as well as the tunnel entrance to the amphitheatre. The backdrop of the stage recieves a second 'layer', complete with curved laser-light details.

http://img89.exs.cx/img89/7718/amphitheatrenighttime4qh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Basically the same shot, at night. The lasers make a vibrant focal point without detracting from the pyrotechnics. The two towers flanking the arch have also taken a change in shape, creating a little more interest rather than a simple cylinder.

03-07-2005, 05:37 AM
Lookin' good, ytivarg!

I like the effect that the laser fence gives.

Wait... that design you used for your towers looks awfully familiar...:p

Can't wait for the show!

Nice work on the amphitheater. The preliminary footage looks dazzling!

03-08-2005, 12:36 AM
Thanks for the feedback so far, everyone. The amphitheatre is nearing completion... (Wait a minute.. something COMPLETE in Gotham City? No, no it simply can't be! :haha: ) and I should have some screens up tomorrow night.

03-08-2005, 11:21 PM
Well, I didn't get it 100% complete tonight as I had hoped, but it's almost there. Just a few things to finish including adding the 'concession stands' to the right of the entrance tunnel to balance the existing ones on the left side, and smoothing out the 'tree walls' on either side of the amphitheatre itself. I originally planned to do more curved walls to enclose it, but decided against it, thinking that it might just look too 'boxy', even if the walls were sloped. Plus, the pine trees flow with the ones around Batman: Dark Defender and continue the 'Wayne Manor' section of the park quite well.

Fantastic ground sculpting, Y! Just awesome.

I hope (one of my mentions in the beta requests in the general forum) that Frontier gives us a larger choice of ground textures in the future - all of the RCT3 colors should be a solid ground texture as well. Sculpting ground with colors would be great, have to rely less on scenery objects which are the primary lag suspects. :haha:

Keep up the superb work! The amphitheater is super clever!

Agreed. The whole thing would look a thousand times better if all of the slate pieces (flanking towers on the stage, overhangs above concessions) matched the ground.... but, this is as close as we get for now. :(

03-09-2005, 12:25 AM
Nice! Very Very Nice, indeed. I'm loving the scenary and architecture used here. I am also liking the ride photos seen in previous pages! Hope to see more of this awesome park!:D

Your amphitheatre is very impressive. Great job. The lake is a nice touch.

03-10-2005, 04:42 PM
I really like what you've done with the amphitheatre, especially the entrance and how that creates a sense of mystery from the peeps perspective. All they see when they walk in is a sliver of the stage, and not until they reach the front do they see the full seating area and the scope of what they're about to partake. Creates a great sense of anticipation. What a great backdrop to create a light and fire show.

Again, thank you all for your comments so far. I, unfortunatley, haven't had more time to work on this project any more lately because of my screwed up work schedule, and something else that's been eating up my time lately.

But, when time finds itself, much, much more is in store for this park! And please, as I've said before... if you've got any input or ideas, please let me know! :D

03-23-2005, 04:56 PM
I would love to see more of your park when you get the time. I enjoyed seeing your updates every week. Keep up the great work!

03-27-2005, 08:39 AM
Alright.... I'm finally posting... You already know how much I LOVE this park from the IM's... but I just had to post to make it public...

It's truly amazing what you're doing with EVERYTHING in SF:GC..... and yes... the Ampitheater is AWESOME!!!! As is Wayne Manor, the custom bat symbol (jealous of that one ;) ), the Riddler, ALL the other rides, and EVERY OTHER THING in this park!!!

I can't wait to see what happens when SF:GC goes to Vegas....

Why so busy??? (LOL)

Feeling a little "windswept"??? A little green? Me to, But what fun we'll have!!!!! I already sucked the sounds out of the vid you just showed me and turned it into a screensaver :D <Singing> "I'm so Diz-zy...." Brilliant idea Diva/Grav!!!

LOVE the Amphitheater! It's so very Gotham-ish :p. NO really, it is. Looks GREAT!

04-12-2005, 07:39 PM
This whole project is absoluetly amazing... I mean, it is wonderful. I don't want to go overboard, but, you're a genius! Wow. Bravo...

04-12-2005, 09:26 PM
In an unfortunate series of events... my hard drive completely crashed about 4-5 days ago. I've lost everything, including Gotham City.

So, I will soon be starting over completely. Thankfully, I've enough pictures stored in this thread to effectively re-create most of the park.

On the bright side, this offers up a chance to re-do the things I didn't like from the beginning... but, it still sucks. :(

So yeah, it's back to the drawing board.

But, in a completely brighter note, when the service tech came to replace the hard drive today... someone messed up. My 160 Gig hard drive was replaced with a brand-spankin' new 400 Gig drive. WOO-HOO~! :D

04-12-2005, 09:49 PM
Almost like Circlevision. Now how does that happen!!!!!!!! Oh well Good luck starting all over again I hope it comes out even better than it already was.  I can't believe it

04-12-2005, 11:48 PM
Dear GOD! That's terrible... How in the H%*$ did that happen, dude?! That sucks sooo much @$$. Did you do something bad in your past life? KARMA?! Wow... I'm sorry!

04-13-2005, 02:10 AM
Now THAT sucks!!!

Sorry 'bout the news..... This always seems to happen to the creators of the best parks! ( *@$# it!) Knowing you, it'll come back even better!!!

I really enjoyed the previous version.... but like you said yourself... now you have the chance to make it even BETTER!!!

I can't wait to see where you take the new one...!

P.S. 400 GB?!?!?! you SUCK!!!!! (LOL) ;)

04-13-2005, 11:20 AM
Recommendation, partition your hard drive and hopefully your programs will be on a different partition and your documents (RCT3) will be on a different partition. Then backup your documents on a CD or DVD or a third partition.

Backup, Backup BACKUP

04-13-2005, 05:48 PM
I completly agree with Backing everything up. Especially when you've been working on it for weeks and weeks and weeks. I can attest that in this case it was a Diskette Seek Erro and would not recover if even on a different partition. Trust me, everything was attempted over the course of several days. But then again if you get a $700 hard drive for free then it has it benefits.

04-13-2005, 08:23 PM
I can never argue with Free.
It has a certain ambience
Hope to see the reincarnation soon.

Good Luck.

04-15-2005, 08:49 PM
It is a shame that you lost the park, but, your mind is probably FLOODING with ideas... I can't wait until you put out new screen shots... Perhaps a video? :D Don't rush things, man. Take your sweet time... I can't wait until this dang park comes out... It looks FAN-freaking-TASTIC... Well... I mean, it will look FAN-freaking-TASTIC... Yeah... Ummmm... I'll shut up now.

04-16-2005, 07:39 PM
When will construction begin again

04-16-2005, 11:39 PM
It's already begun, but there's not really much to show as of yet. Right now I'm just rebuilding the coasters you've already seen. Trying to reconstruct them from the pictures that are in this thread... so yeah, there's not a whole lot for anyone to see yet. Sure, I could post pictures of me rebuilding rides, but what's the point?

Rest assured, you'll see pictures once there's something substantial to see. ;)

04-18-2005, 01:14 PM
Well, among trying to reconstruct all of the coasters (and making a few changes here and there) I decided to start on some of the features I wanted improved. First on my list was the Amphitheatre stage. I thought it needed something a little more... how shall we say, dramatic...

http://img54.echo.cx/img54/5876/amphitheatrebatstage0zp.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

04-18-2005, 02:12 PM
is that.....The Batman Logo I See?

04-18-2005, 02:39 PM
http://img16.echo.cx/img16/3066/parkmapv11vt.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

Here's the current layout, including the major attractions listed for each area of the park. All is subject to change, and flat rides and the like aren't listed simply because they'll fall into place once all of the major stuff is reconstructed.

With the exception of station houses, Mr. Freeze : Chill Factor has been completely reconstructed, along with Penguin's Plunge (due to their simplistic layouts). Riddler's Revenge track was reconstructed, and fairly true to the original version, with a few minor tweaks that (hopefully) improved the ride. Just finished reconstructing the layout for Batman : Dark Defender today, and the ending (which I was never happy with from the start) has been slightly altered. I'm really happy with how the stage of the amphitheatre sets a nice background to the ride. I had originally planned to place another slab of curved land behind the stage to form the oval that encircles the bat-logo, but decided against it as it would just look like a big ugly slab from the back side.

The layout has changed since the first version. The Harbor has moved to the back of the park, and The Outskirts have been moved to the Harbor's previous location. Arkham Asylum now occupies the corner that previously held The Outskirts. Downtown, Warehouse District, and Wayne Manor locations have stayed relatively the same, save for a few 'nudges'.

All in all, I'm much happier with this layout than the previous one. Maybe this starting over will turn out to be a good thing after all.

04-18-2005, 06:27 PM
Oh my god! The new amphitheater is in the shape of a bat! Sweetness! Super coolness! Total awesomeness!

Lol, dude, I can't wait to see some more!!!!And I can;t wait to see you fix the seating area! :p Haha just kiddin' ;)

04-18-2005, 06:55 PM
Gah, so I've quickly realized that the amphitheatre stage needs more work. The bat logo doesn't have the tips at the top of it, just at the bottom. So, those'll soon get smoothed out.

04-18-2005, 07:01 PM
Jeez, the old park was great. Loving that new logo though, good luck on redoing it all :)

04-18-2005, 08:21 PM
RADICAL DUDE thats was verry informative cant wait for the finished product.

On second thought...

I tried smoothing them out, and it just doesn't look how I want it. The extra tips provide a little more backdrop for the stage... smoothing them out exposed too much of the coaster behind it. Besides that, there's at least a dozen different renderings of the bat logo, pretty much a new tweak for every movie (a MAJOR tweak for the new flick coming out)... so... yeah. This is my tweak for this production. Or at least, that's my story  and I'm stickin' to it! :D

04-18-2005, 09:50 PM
Looking good, man. Looking good...

04-19-2005, 02:55 PM
Okay, I was getting antsy to see something a little more than just rebuilding. So, I took the Advanced Camera Editor out for a spin and did something I've never done before, used it with Freelook cam. I quickly whipped up a short promo/teaser for Batman: Dark Defender. Download at your leisure...

AWESOME work with the new ampitheater!!!!! Great idea.

Love the logo's and effects you did in the vid, to!!!

Dark Defender looks incredible!!!!!! You're CP background has a sweet influence on your coasters. That ride looks VERY real when it moves around the track. I'm jealous... Wish I could do coasters like that. :(

Can't wait for more!!!! <high five>

Itís to bad you lost your old park but when ever some thing like that has happened to me I have always made it 100 times better.

I your new park is already looking better than your other one. May I ask wit video editor you used in that very good video?

04-19-2005, 05:00 PM
I'm using Sonic Foundry Vegas 4.0 for my video productions now. The early days (SF:GC's first video, and Diablo) were done using only Windows Movie Maker.

Movie Maker isn't a terrible program, but I think I had exhausted all of it's resources by the time Diablo was finished. Vegas offers up a whole lot more in the creativity department.

04-19-2005, 07:30 PM
Just a couple quick shots of some of the construction that's gone on today. The 'Downtown Gotham' area was my main focus. Various buildings around Catwoman have also been started, but nothing worth screenshot'ing yet. ;)

The creativity here is stunning! You've done so much in such little time. You're a true rollercaster designer! I'm in awe... It's madness!!! I can't wait until it "comes out".
P.S. How the H*** did you learn how to build scenery like that?! It's beautiful- Your buildings, skyscrapers and textures. Terrific. Nothing but applause from me:up:

04-19-2005, 08:11 PM
I was thinking, the dark defender, could you possibly have that a bit lower to the ground? You could mimick the batmobile riding up to waynes manor, going into a tunnel (when soaked is released) and flying out the batplane thingy bit and coming back. That would trully be a stunning ride.

P.S. That Mr Freeze is AMAZING. Trully brilliant, one of if not the best looking shots i've seen here. Very creative, i like.

04-19-2005, 08:19 PM
Cool video i loved all the fancy titles i wish i had a fancy video editor. *checks to see how much money he has* how much does sony vegas cost.

04-19-2005, 08:38 PM
@ Codackussel: Thank you so much! My scenery is due in large part to this community. Visiting other threads around here and adapting things that I see from others. I do a lot of poking my nose in threads around here (Granted, I'm really bad at leaving posts... I need to remedy that) and seeing things that I like, and figuring how to tweak it to make it right for what I'm doing. There are a TON of extremely talented people in this community, and I owe a lot of what you see above to them.

@Guybrush_47: I like your idea for B : DD, but I actually want to have this thing finished BEFORE Soaked! comes out. I've got a huge project running around in my head that's just waiting for Soaked!. Just like Gotham City, this is a project that I've been toying around with since the days of RCT1... but Soaked! will finally allow it to be what it was meant to be from the start. Thanks for your comment on Mr. Freeze... I really like how that shot turned out. And, completely unrelated... Guybrush... as in Monkey Island? Ha, I love those games... "I AM MURRAY!" :haha:

@Chickenselects3: Thanks! Vegas is a little costly, but is worth it once you figure out the ins and outs. I'd suggest deciding if you really ENJOY making movies like this before the purchase. Getting that much software just for a fancy title that lasts 3 seconds doesn't justify the cost! ;)

04-19-2005, 08:43 PM
Aye, named after the most known pirate in living history... appartently i'm a spitting image of him, (monkey isle1). The name just stuck :)

04-19-2005, 08:44 PM
That pick of mr frezes ride looks totaly awesome.
Hey I suggest you save your track designs

04-19-2005, 11:39 PM
Wow, impresive!

04-20-2005, 07:59 PM
I'm already in love with the reconstruction. Favorite is Mr. Freeze: Chill Factor's backdrop building. I just had a feeling your landscaping techniques would make their way into this park. So now it won't be as flat as your last one. This could be a great buildup to something good on Riddler's Revenge.

04-20-2005, 08:27 PM
:( Too bad that you had to start again...
isn't curious that this of starting again happened to three people now?? well one wasn't forced but he strated again look, first circlevision with his park oceania
then boris the fish with land of wonders (he wasn't forced to start again he wanted to have a bigger park)
an at last ytivarg with six flags: gotham city
Isn't sad? well but looking the good part, everytime they had to start again they made better things like the amphitheater that looks awesome:D:up:

04-21-2005, 01:38 PM
This park look greats!! I am half way in making my Gotham City, with Batman: The Winged Avenger, il post a teaser video for you!

Great choice on the setting, a park just about Gotham City, that My Freeze ride looks cool to!! Shame about your lose, as it was coming along great!

04-21-2005, 10:26 PM
Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone. Had to work a lot the past few days, so no more work got done, but I've got a few days off coming up, so expect more updates soon. (Tomorrow night around this time, hopefully!)

04-21-2005, 11:08 PM
Wow, cool park, I wonder why I haven't posted here before.

But cool park.

04-21-2005, 11:53 PM
Wow. Both the video and the screenshots are amazing. Seeing what you are doing here just proves I havent yet even begun to learn what I need to learn to join the great masters of park building.

love the new amphitheter!!

I have a question for you, ytivarg. The rafters for Mr. Freeze- are those pieces of GIGA COASTER TRACK?

04-25-2005, 11:07 PM
Yes, they are.

In the original version, I had used B&M track (Sit-down Twister, I believe) to make the launch tunnel. When it came time to recreate it, I was messing around with different track types, and really liked how the Intamin Box Track design looked... so I went with it.

04-25-2005, 11:09 PM
Sensational work, PERIOD. Mr. Freeze is the best looking scenery/ride combo I've seen yet.

I LOVE the launch tunnel!!!! can't wait for the chance to see it with the strobes working! (ie video??? when the time comes.... ;) ) NICE use of track as scenery!!!!

My two favorite villians are Clayface and Scarecrow.. so I gotta know.. what do you have planned for these two??

04-27-2005, 10:08 AM
Great job. You took your old park to the next level. Maybe it wasn't so bad your old park was lost :)

04-27-2005, 10:54 PM
Thanks for all the feedback, again! I'm still workin' on some new stuff... want to get it looking a little more 'presentation-worthy' before I release screens.

arkangel: Scarecrow has some sketchy plans at the moment... but, I really don't know if Clayface will be worked into the mix.

Just putting this thread at the top so other people can marvel at this parks sheer brilllliance

05-06-2005, 12:35 AM

Looking good.. :) Sorry to hear about the HD Crash...

BTW, Getting the Video's / Park file for Diablo, is impossible.. Fortunatly Klinn had the Video for the Rocky Mountain Rumbler (sm)...

Any chance of getting the park file, and/or vids for Diablo?? I might be able to mirror them on my site, depending on how big the total is, and how much BW they end up using.. but that Rapidshare.de is lousy at best...

05-11-2005, 01:09 PM
Diablo is currently being hosted at www.bitterjewelerfilms.com in the Community Films area, along with Rocky Mountain Rumble.

As for the park file for Diablo, I'd have to get that from CP_Diva... After the HD crash, I no longer have it, but he still does.

Cool!! Love it!! Im doing Gotham City to, im a bit stuck on trying to get the buildings to look the part!! I just released a video of my batman ride, if you want to see it, it is a great rollercoaster, its in the Warner Brothers park, etc.

Love those stunt towers, may have to copy that idea, for my park (all WBMW parks have 4 blast towers), but yours looks so cool!

05-12-2005, 10:10 PM
all i can say is that i am mesmerized. i hope to be that good. i got the game today, and i look forward to playing all night lol

Did you used the allowtrackintersect cheat?? or they are just pieces of coaster just lying there?

05-18-2005, 12:47 AM
This is gonna be great.

They're just coaster track.. no need for an intersect.

05-18-2005, 08:01 PM
ok because if it was part of the ride it will look weird that suddenly the train goes under the earth:noob:

06-14-2005, 08:05 AM
Are you doing the park with the normal objects or did you include custom, self-made objects??

Because that theater in the shape of the batsymbol is realy amazing...

And the coaster-tracks are cool... how did you get them up there to the 4 towers?? Just building and trying to get there with a bit luck? :D

dude, your park is going to get really cool! (Y)

06-26-2005, 05:57 PM
Thanks for the continued support guys... and digging this back up from "The Great Beyond" (AKA page 3 and up! ;) )

I'm currently taking a step away from SF:GC at the moment... I've just grown a little bored with it.. and I'm going to start on another project soon. I also am tinkering with the Tomb Raider : Expedition ride at the moment, too.

Honestly, I've just been playing with Soaked since I got it... trying different things here and there. Hopefully, something will click and I'll hop back into this. For the moment, sadly, this project has been moved to the back burner.

07-12-2005, 09:20 PM
Hey ytivarg, whats up with this park? You didn't scrap it did you!

07-12-2005, 11:58 PM
I'll pick this back up again when I'm done with Villain Valley. I grew tired of this one quickly.. I think it was because I was trying to do all of it at once.

I'm not gonna scrap it totally... it'll come back... sooner or later. ;)

07-17-2005, 06:28 AM
Wow! Great park.
Love the awesome terra forming!

07-25-2005, 04:38 PM
Wow, I'd really like to see this completed, it really is very nice! And, just as a suggestion, instead of Jonker's Jinx or whatever in Arkham Asylum you should maybe do something involving Scarecrow so it's more accurate to the Batman comics.

07-25-2005, 10:28 PM
When do you think you'll start work on this project again?

07-27-2005, 11:55 PM
Does anyone no how he got strobes in that tunnel for mr. freez and also do u no where to get letters ive seen people put on there buildings? thnx

07-28-2005, 12:02 AM
The strobe light effect is created by simply placing a bunch of ordinary lamps next to eachother. In this instance, there is a long stretch of land, the length of the tunnel, and one tile wide. Each tile will hold 4 lamps. Lamps are buried underground so that just the light is seen, and the fact that there are so many in one spot provides the strobing effect.

The letters are a custom scenery pack, search the Exchange forum for them.

And, again.. if I haven't said it enough already, I will continue this project once Villain Valley is completed.

07-28-2005, 02:53 PM
^ That's really creative!!!!!

When are you gonna start working on this again?:p :D :haha

People must not know how to read anymore

07-28-2005, 04:49 PM
What's reading?! ;)

07-28-2005, 05:02 PM
 exactly....

07-28-2005, 05:57 PM
The question was asked because I was wondering WHEN he'd be DONE with the other project...

07-28-2005, 06:06 PM
So you should've probably asked, 'When do you think you'll be done with Villian Valley?', not 'When will you continue with this?', because that question was already answered....geesh!

07-28-2005, 06:36 PM
I guess the way I asked it was incorrect. Sorry!!!!!:(

07-28-2005, 06:40 PM
W/e dude I'm not trying to be a *****, just pointing out that you shouldn't get all defensive and pissy when you said, what you said... I was jjust telling you that you should've been more clear

07-28-2005, 07:21 PM
I didn't mean to sound pissy. You don't sound like a *****- I should have been more clear. Sorry. Anyways, the park looks great- can't wait till the next photos come up!

07-28-2005, 07:22 PM
How about you two children stop fighting and spamming in some one elses thread.:sulk:

07-28-2005, 07:24 PM
How about you just... I'm kidding. I apologize for the little squabble (if you can call it that)...

07-28-2005, 07:41 PM
Yeah sorry bout wasting all that space... I'll remember to take it outside the thread next time...;) and I apologize to Codackussell as well.

07-28-2005, 10:30 PM
Hello ytivarg, I was looking at your Mr Freeze : Chill Factor logo, and didn't like it. So for no real apparent reason I remade it. So if you want to take a look at it, here it is. New "Mr. Freeze : Chill Factor" logo (http://photobucket.com/albums/a393/doomsdaydevice9/Random%20pics/?action=view&current=Mr-Freeze-Logo.jpg)

07-28-2005, 11:57 PM
Well, I don't like yours... it's too boring. Please stop spamming a somewhat dead thread.

07-29-2005, 01:42 AM
Man you are a genious. This park looks cool.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything (of course someone will have something to say, so before you say it, SHUT IT. I don't care what you think...), but it IS a cool logo. I like it. It looks good. Way to bring someone's self esteem down!!! (<--- Before anyone gets uptight, and says anything, I'm kidding...)

08-28-2005, 05:55 AM
Can i just say ...

Oh my days! Your park is sensational, superlicious, awe-some, stunning ......

Do you work for atari?!

Congratulations dude!

I will support you park all the way ( and i personally prefer your new park to your old Gotham City )

Robin: Vertical Vengeance gets a slight overhaul:

http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/4724/robin39ak.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

...and for some reason, I can no longer edit the subject of the first post to change the thread title. It just tacks on a subject line to the first post. When did that change? Mods? Anyone?

10-22-2005, 03:12 AM
the editing ability may have been changed becuasee they are moving all of the forums soon
SO glad to see that you have resumed this project...
I must say that six flags doesn't deserve this park though, it is FAR to good for six flags.

10-22-2005, 07:18 AM
What he said ^

Great stuff as usual like the batman ride best though lucks fun to ride im glad to see its back on track but can i ask one thing?

10-22-2005, 08:44 AM
Some people are never happy. :haha: If I went right back to VV after the beta ended.. people would ask where this one was.

Truthfully, I'm working on both of them a little bit here and there.

10-22-2005, 09:52 AM
WOO HOO Thats music to my ears truely!!

10-22-2005, 11:38 AM
Ooh, that's wicked! (pun intended) ;)

Glad to see your starting to work on your parks again, Grav. Can't wait to see some more, stranger! :)

10-22-2005, 11:43 AM
Very, Very nice, Can i just ask what background that is ;o

Hope to see some more on this, And as its been said this park is too good for six flags ;].

10-22-2005, 12:17 PM
Oh, wow! Awesome!

10-22-2005, 01:07 PM
I really really like this ride. The supports and the station are so realistic! Is there anything holding that glass roof up, though?

After working on Wicked Twister for a year and a half, you get to know how things look. I even included the electrical room with generators behind it. ;)

The glass roof, however, you called me out on. At the moment, it's just resting atop the launch track supports. On Wicked Twister, the glass roof above the launch run is literally attached to the supports, but doing it in-game I've found -- well, nothing looks right. So, yeah.. it's just kinda chillin' on top of the red supports.
