ĒYouíve seen the movie, now ride the rides!Ē

Howdy Folks - Iíve finished turning the Ďsetsí used for my Agent Peep movie (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=444854) into a fully functioning amusement park. Now you can follow in the master spyís footsteps and explore this heavily terraformed jungle paradise.

Download Dr. Deathís Island Lair (http://www.designamatic.com/RCT3-IslandLair.html)

An overall view of the park. Guests enter at the docks in the bottom-right before deciding which way to head along the Main Promenade.

OK, I'll be kind now and switch to thumbnails. Here's a shot of the Promenade at night, with a number of rides to tempt peeps before they head off to the main attractions. Paths use The Skipperís construction tricks to get more benches in the center sections. The extinct volcano in middle of the island looms ominously in the background.

You may remember the River Run splash boats ride from the first version of this park. It attempts to give patrons the feeling of careening down a fast moving jungle river.

Hereís a small airfield, home to the Jet Fighter rollercoaster. Certain sections of that coaster are deliberately landscaped to get rid of the ride supports, all in an attempt to enhance the feeling of flying.

About a third of this Car Chase ride is hidden within the jungleís trees. The Pit Stop set of buildings to the left house the ride entrance and a few facilities. Too bad I couldnít get somebody waving a start flag from up in the timing tower!

Youíll probably recognize this submarine base from the Agent Peep movie. The game has some issues with water rides which have multiple ride stations, but it still works. But you may see one submarine clip right through another as it heads out of the base.

...continued from the previous post...

Itís a bit of climb to reach the ride building for the Volcano Velocity rollercoaster, so there are some refreshment stands along the way.

But once up there, you get a grand overall view of this side of the island. Thatís the exterior of the sub pen over on the left.
http://www.designamatic.com/Graphics/RCT3-ILPark09-Thumb.jpg (http://www.designamatic.com/Graphics/RCT3-ILPark09-Big.jpg)

The coaster will take you up and over the edge of the extinct volcano...
http://www.designamatic.com/Graphics/RCT3-ILPark10-Thumb.jpg (http://www.designamatic.com/Graphics/RCT3-ILPark10-Big.jpg)

...and then it dives down into Dr. Deathís hidden lair. You can get some idea of the scale of the complex by comparing it to the small size the coaster track.
http://www.designamatic.com/Graphics/RCT3-ILPark11-Thumb.jpg (http://www.designamatic.com/Graphics/RCT3-ILPark11-Big.jpg)

This last shot is a big one, but itís worth it. A panoramic view of the far end of the island, created by stitching two screenshots together. Yeah, there are a lot of trees and bushes, each carefully planted by hand. If you have Internet Explorer set to auto-resize images, be sure to click the 'Expand to regular size' button that will appear in the bottom-right corner.

Now that hopefully youíre all pumped to download this park and check it out, one caution: It is very demanding of computer power. On my average-level 3GHz system it runs at about 10 - 15 frames per second. Certain areas with large quantities of building elements, e.g. the Sub Pen or Dr. Deathís Lair, run at the slow end of that range. At night, the frame rate dips into the single digits. The park is initially closed. If you open it up, over 1000 peeps will pour in very quickly and the frame rate will slip to about 7 or 8 FPS. Lots of AI calculations being done, I suppose. Interesting side note: I saved the park both with 1000+ peeps and when it was empty. The park file with peeps was over 1.1MB bigger than the other one! Yow.

I suggest that you keep the park closed at first. Use test mode to sample the coasters and other rides and enjoy the scenery. Once youíve had your fill, open up the park and have fun watching the peeps do their thing. Turning off the water reflections will sometimes help the park run faster, but it just isnít as pretty. Oddly enough, the large quantity of foliage didnít seem to have very much effect on frame rates. YMMV.

Have fun!

Oooo yay, I was waiting for this... Your island looks great!
Your my main competition - hehe :D:up:

But then again it looks more like an island theme park so I'm still blown away. Did I miss the full agent peep movie? because I've been away for a very long time, oh, I'll download that right now.

I'm gonna try the park out soon, really, really scared of the performance Iím going to get FPS wise on my system if that what you get on yours

Edit: WOW, I never realised you do so much designing (looking at website) you really are talented in wide range of media. and you picked out RCT3 to continue, good choice I would say, this game really is creative, bah... THE MOST creative game out there! You really showed it off!
good stuff! :up::up::up::up::up:

It's surely nice to see the island in which you filmed your movie. :D

Good job!

Absolutely beautiful! No, stunning may be a better word. I love the idea of an island theme, and how it appears the peeps have to arrive by boat (nice touch). The Promenade looks like a lot of fun, and I'm just thrilled with your airfield - what a great idea.

But what really makes me ooh-and-aah is the interior of the submarine base - it has such a relic World War II feel to it. I downloaded the park and will fire it up tonight. I know this is one building I'm going to be hanging out it to watch the action.

Your park has such a wonderful feel to it. Thank you so much for sharing your creation with us to enjoy as well.

What a gorgeous park! Well, from what I can see from the screens. I don't think I will be downloading it as I'm sure it will lagg like creazy on my mahcine, but I can see by the screens that the park is utterly amazing. What a great job you did with all the terraforming. One of my favoite aspects of the whole park has to be the station house for Volcanoe Velocity. That station house up high overlooking the park is just awe-inspiring! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

Pretty cool island there! What's more surprising is, I had hardly any lag at all - 30+ FPS during the day, and about 20-something at night (3.4 mhz laptop x6800 ati pci express 256). I think that fact that you did not use too much "glass" helped? It's a keeper for me!

Xalias, Elukka, DuzzyGirl, and Aoshi67 (and everyone) - thanks very much for the kudos - they encourage me to keep on going and see what other parks I can dream up - there's certainly lots of inspiration on this forum coming from all you talented builders!

TheProfessor101 and ShyGuy - I thought everyone would be so sick of the submarine base after seeing so much of it in the Agent Peep video, I almost didn't include a screenshot of it!

Pumper - glad to hear the park runs well on your 'pumped up' laptop. :) Besides more CPU power than me, you've got a video card that is at least twice as fast as my old ATI 9800XT. Your results give me hope for that kind of improvement when I upgrade my system in 6 months.

Griffman - the park I put up for download is already empty of peeps, so the frame rate will be OK (I hope) until you decide to open up the park.

Milkdud - thanks for compliments on the coaster station house. Here's a screenshot from a different angle that shows it off a little better:
