Excellent work, Skipper. Sadly, I extracted them into four different folders and thus the last images in part 4 won't load. However, that's just cause I didn't follow your instructions! :) Apart from that I have to admit, before I saw your tutorial I thought it was too hard to build something nice - and after your tutorial I still think so! But just maybe I'll give it a try...

Just choose one of the folders to use, then copy paste all files from the others into it. Or you CAN just open each htm separately, avoiding the linkers.

I have the same problem. I have done your instructions and all, but it seems your zip file does not have the photos there. It is from Screen Shot #86 and on that I cannot see.

Any help would be appreciated to see how you completed the mall.

Thanks

TheSkipper

All the images should be there. It was independently tested. Are you sure you downloaded ALL four pparts, because some images were moved prior to posting to even out the file sizes.

Look in the folder you created, and see if images go up to "tut92.jpg" and has four named jpg's "The Lodge" "Alien Station" Taj MaMall" and "Mall Marinarus" If not, check to see that you have 4 zips also in the folder. Let me know, k?

If everything I mentioned is there, open the "page" and right click to refresh, or on "missing" images, right click and choose "show picture"

ajc
03-09-2005, 02:26 PM
If anyone is missing pictures, be sure to check and make sure you downloaded all 4 zip files. To make sure you got a good d/l, right click each zipped folder and select 'explore'. This opens the folder to view its contents. I just checked mine and all the pics are there. If you think your d/l was incomplete, just re-d/l and try again.

Abso......, good point, AJC, and thanks for the addition. !

Well, I unzipped all the files into their own special folder and it worked.

I tried unzipping the 4th one again, just to see what it would do, and it would not give me the last photos (from #86 on). Really weird.

But, I do have it now.

Thanks a ton for doing this, Skipper! It is really neat to see how you make your buildings! :)

Hi Skipper, I'd just like to say that I have to revise my judgement. Or rather, maybe (even though your tutorial includes all that) you (?) should make a smaller tutorial just showing the very basics of building something (simple houses that peeps can't enter and then saving it properly). After I figured it out myself - or rather, there really is very little to figure out, but simply the need to overcome the fear of pressing that custom buildings button! - and recently re-read your tutorial it makes far more sense to me now! There's really a lot of helpful stuff in there that I should have read earlier rather than painfully discover it myself...

TheSkipper
04-15-2005, 12:05 PM
No problem, rizzla, my intention was to have the basics for "shell" buildings included, as that alone would be almost too little to bother with other than in a post. This way you or anyone could grasp the concept and see what is involved in making a structure that is functional and add appeal to a park.

Glad it helped:D

gonchar, that looks really nice.

Did you use custom scenery for the floors, and if so, where can I get them?

Though the question wasn't directed at me I'll answer no custom scenery. The floors are the standard paths, the nice red which I personally also like just being the raised version of the other floor you can see in his shots.

wow you like it , thats all I needed to know. It was a very hard project.......12 + hrs. I had to drop this ride down very deep just so it would fit . I went with the glass theme on the top just to give it some space and to air the monster out. I will have a vid of the ride soon. The ride is called "Time Warp" ...........but to you American hot rodders out there it is "Hemi under Glass"

How do you get the stall on the upper floor?

gonchar
02-17-2006, 05:09 AM
Sorry guys, lost track of this thread. 10 months isn't too long, right?

No custom scenery. I don't use custom anything, ever. Call me a purist. ;)

Haven't really played RCT3 in a long while - too busy with real life stuff.

Just shift and drag to raise things to the second floor. Once you get one lined up the rest are easy.

You can download that big square looking indoor monstrosity that the screenshots are from HERE (http://games.coasterbuzz.com/FileDetail.aspx?GameFileID=6025)

A couple simpler indoor rides are:
Cosmos Commando (http://games.coasterbuzz.com/FileDetail.aspx?GameFileID=5957)
Gallow Rapids (http://games.coasterbuzz.com/FileDetail.aspx?GameFileID=5966)
Dr. Morbid's Haunted Castle (http://games.coasterbuzz.com/FileDetail.aspx?GameFileID=5951)

Those are all older files (well, over a year old), but the basic idea of doing an indoor thing is there. Maybe I'll find the time to take another try at it. And I apologize - you'll probably have to register to DL those files. Sorry, I don't host any of my stuff on my site. It's cool, they won't use or sell or screw with your info. It just takes a second.

Screens for those last three:

How do you get the stall on the upper floor?

locate where the stall will sit on the ground level, then hold shift and drag mouse up. If another shop or object interferes, shift will raise it to the first space it can go "blue" and be placed.

TheSkipper

Create a directory called tutorial or building tutorial then save them all into it. Next chose to extract here on each one. Now when you get to the end of part one, just click the link at it's bottom to continue....

Angelsims2
06-19-2006, 03:54 PM
So where do I put the extracted files into? I did make a file in my documents&settings/owner/RCT3/Building Tutorial1 etc. that I created. Is this good what I did? Thanks.;)

TheSkipper
06-19-2006, 08:48 PM
Just extract everything into that folder, and then just open the first html. When you get to the link in the first, click it and two will open.

Daniohs, you do know what a zip is and how to extract it, right?
Get all four zips into one folder, and on each, right click and choose "extract here".
When done, you just click on the htm for the first, and at the end each will open on the next click.

daniohs
07-31-2007, 12:40 AM
Yeah, I know how to extract files, but I think the zip files themselves are damaged on the forum. Only the first 3 (or 2?) seem to be damaged, I was able to see your other tutorials (which were great).

I also redownloaded the zip files but it still said the same thing when I tried to open them.
