QUICK GUIDE:

Add the following text to "C:\Documents and Settings\[your Windows username]\Application Data\Atari\RCT3\Options.txt" to disable scenery-terrain, scenery-scenery, and track-track collision detection:

AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1
AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1
TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

JohncJ's easy-to-use options.txt editing program here.

------------------------------------------------------------

Important Public Service Announcement: '"LevelTerrainUnderTracks 0" appears to disable the auto-tunneling feature of Wild."'

------------------------------------------------------------

Someone apparently figured out how to get rollercoasters to go through mountains and said to add "AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1" so that rollercoasters could go through terrain in:

C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\Atari\RCT3\Options.txt

I figured he must have gotten the "AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect" stuff and searched the RCT3.exe file. I found a BUNCH of options that are NOT in the options menu in game, and many that are as well.

The most DECEIVING ONE is "RidesDontBreakDown". It actually makes your rides more reliable, but when they DO break down, you need to delete the ride and rebuild it... the mechanics will never fix them, only inspect. (only happens with flat rides, I think..... I might be wrong)

Here are the three lines that I added to my regular options.txt list.

AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1
AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1
TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

Here is the entire list..

Swaying3dTrees 0 could be a good one...

Very interesting. For those people who are always complaining about scenery collision detection, maybe the "AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect" setting would be useful.

Heh-heh, the "TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect" sounds like it could introduce some real mayhem!

Elukka

Oh yeah, i only put ''Advanced Physics''. Silly me. :p

RCT4me

Thanks for the list, it really helps, especially with collision detection problems. Let's just hope no n00bs use the "TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect" to waste peoples' time, of course, this will definately be used by those imaginative ones who want things like railroad crossings for their rides, lol, it's funny just to think about them.

hmmm, TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect sounds like fun - i can make a train go around in a circle again and again...

not sure exactly what AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect allows, but new structures can't intersect with anything still :(

It means that if you build a ride or a single piece of scenery it can go through the scenery

That's all it can really do though. But muiltiple circuit runs is rarely needed (whenever it is, I believe it's provided in the ride operation options.)

Agamemnus
03-06-2005, 11:47 AM
er... he means having parts of the track repeating, not multiple runs.

Great find dude!

I am having loads of fun with the TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect trick. It helps with unrealistic collision detections that I come across every now and then. Heh, I just made a ride where it looks like you're about to hit a train coming at you, but you block brake, the train S-Bends out of your way, and you continue along.

Fun stuff!

Oh man this is awesome! The TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect will help alot with my coaster track sculptures!
By the way does the no break down thing also work for stall? If so, then this will be very useful as well!

Oh and SkipBannerSequence & SkipStartScreen!? Woot! :D

Oh and TrackEditBackwardsLikeRCT2 sounds very intreresting....

03-13-2005, 04:29 PM
Can we have a screenie of what it looks like? I dont think it'll have an the actual tunnel bit, will it? Or the path/coaster just go straight into the ground?

Agamemnus
03-13-2005, 08:12 PM
RidesDontBreakDown 1 will make rides break down MUCH LESS OFTEN (95% reduction), but they will still break down eventually, I've found.

the scenery scenery intersect I'm not exactly sure about yet...

AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1 is the correct path to list for building underground rides.

This list has some amazing options. About this AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect thing - if you save a park with this "on" - will anyone downloading the park have to change this option on their side for them to see the same results (or will their RCT3 just weird out or something? Man this function will be amazingly useful!

I was wondering if the option.txt file was the one in C:/program files/atari/rct3/options.txt., or if I needed to make: C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\Atari\RCT3\Options.txt.
for this to work mine only goes toC:\Documents and Settings\[your username],. I don"t have:\Application Data\Atari\RCT3\Options.txt
thank you.

thank you. You probably have Windows set so it doesn't show hidden files and folders. To change this:
- Open up the 'C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\' folder.
- Select 'Folder Options' from the 'Tools' menu.
- Click the 'View' tab.
- Find the line 'Do not show hidden files and folders'.
- Select the option just below it - 'Show hidden files and folders'.
- Click OK.

You should now see a faint-yellow folder called 'Application Data'. The above sequence works with WinXP, earlier versions of Windows may be somewhat different but the same general process applies.

Hope this helps...

Tried some of the options out all last night - in a fresh sandbox (didn't want to screw with the current park). I thought one of the options would allow objects to be combined/placed next to each other (no grid detection)- but that wasn't the case. However, these options are quite cool....I posted the three that are mainly being referred to, and their function:

TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1 - Removes detection of coaster/train track boundaries, so track parts can overlap and run side by side much closer to each other then before, or even intersect with each other. See Bitter Jeweler's great sample above.!

AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1 - Removes detection between scenery and coaster track. This allows coaster track to be placed closer, or even directly through scenery. This can summon up a lot of ideas, but I found, you have to have the scenery placed first, THEN the track can mow right through it - I wish it were the other way around (placing scenery after track).

AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1 - Removes detection between terrain and track. Track can go underground without being stopped by landscape. Great for building underground or even "make-shift' tunnels (don't expect a cave-like visible entrance/exit, though.
:)

Thanks for the grand list Agamemnus!

Help! More than half of those options arent in my file! Only the terrain intersect is the only intersecting one out of the three in there. It is already set to1. (I was wondering why i could build my go karts into some green hell) Any help on why this stuff is missing?? Can someone pm me a copy of theres that has all of those options. I feel left out right now.

JCat
03-22-2005, 02:23 AM
Hazard1367 - that's correct - the big list in the first message contains a lot more options then you normally have listed in your options.txt - you have to add the ones you want yourself. Simply copy and paste them to the options list, then add a 1 (if needed) to turn that feature on.

Hazard1367
03-22-2005, 11:04 AM
Thank you for that. I really wanted to have the track intersect and the scenery interssect with track things. Now I can.:D
EDIT: Oh, its on the first post saying that some aren't. I geuss I should read the whole post instead of the list and how to activate them.:p
EDIT AGAIN: Hmmmmmmmmmmm... I tried to make a corkscrew coaster intersect with itself after I copied the trackallowsameintersect to my file and added 1, saved it but it didn't work.
EDIT: Yay im finally a veteran!

Any help? I've got some cool ideas, but the track intersect and scenery intersect things won't work? Is there supposed to be no squarew thingy in between them, because I put them in between like the other ones. What did I do wrong? I can't figure out what I did wrong.

Hello... I need help here... Does anyone ever come onto the veterans discussion...?
EDIT: Nobodys been in here for almost 5 hours. Thats messed up, this place is REALLY REALLY unpopular.

Furthermore you need to restart RCT to get them to work.

OK, you're missing this one:

TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

^^ That's the one that allows track to cross each other (no boundries), and the one you need, to do that track thing you mentioned.

You only have the terrain one listed, which is for allowing track to go right through the terrain (ground, mountains, etc..)

Your're also missing the one, which lets you build track directly through scenery - which is:

AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1

Agamemnus
03-23-2005, 07:45 PM
1) Don't include enter characters between them. It has to be one long line.

2) It's automatically sorted after you use it once, so things change places.

Hazard1367
03-23-2005, 09:17 PM
Oh, I put the squares in between each one. I will try again without the squares. And Pumper, I know they're missing, I added them, then they disappered. (sp?)

JCat
03-23-2005, 11:03 PM
OK, so based on what Agamemnus said, you should be on your way!

Oh, by the way, I typed them up at the bottom of the list using wordpad (notepad displays one big line), and I actually hit return after each one --- and after saving, and loading up RCT3, the program put them in their proper place and all 3 options worked.

I just discovered that this cheat doesn't just work for coasters! You can now also place shops/stalls on squares that are already taken up by walls! If you were to place a stall, then tryed to place walls around it on the same square, it woudn't let you. But now with this cheat you can! So long as you place the walls first. Woohoo!

KoasterKid23

Nice discovery Milkdud! This helps a ton, I hated how you used to have to make giant buildings in order to put only a few shops inside, now that fixes that annoying problem!:D

I'd type them like this:

FirstTime 1
AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1
SkipBannerSequence 1
GuestsRideUnratedRides 1

And if that still doesn't work then type what I just did in the options.txt. file in the application data folder: C:\documents and setting\YourName\Application data (make it so you can see hidden folders)\atari\rct3.

@KoasterKid: Yeah! Hotdog stalls were thw worst! :p Heheheh.

Milkdud

If you can see hidden folders then go to C:\Documents and Settings\YourName

In that folder you SHOULD see the Application Data folder. The icon should be a little lighter colored than the ordinary folders. If you don't then you don't have the "see hidden files and folders" option on. So now click the "tools" button on the top of the window, then foler options, then click the view tab and look for "Show hidden files and folders" click the little circle to check it and hit ok. So now you'll be able to see the Application Data folder. Click it and then go to Atari, then RCT3, then the options.txt folder will be there. Tada!

If you fail to do this then you can still use all the cheats with the options.txt file in C:/Program Files/Atari/RCT3

Yes, you did it wronge. Like Sullivan said, you need a space before the 1, and you also need to put them all in one row, right after each other.

You didn't read the thread properly! :)

Do not look for the options.txt in the folder where you installed RTC3, but look for C:/Documents and Settings/[Your Windows Username]/Application Data/Atari/RTC3/options.txt

Note also that not all the described options will be in there, either. Open it with the notepad, simply add what you like right at the end (don't bother with a new line) and save it. Better still, make a backup of the original options.txt first (right click, copy and then paste it somewhere else where you can find it again!).

Now I'd like some help myself: Which option (without trying them all out) might prevent additional trees to spawn outside the park when I'm placing some inside the park?

The best way of doing this I found:

1) Open the existing options.txt in Notepad
2) Select File->Save As and save it as "Options.bak"
3) Copy one of the current options (including the little square at the end)
4) Paste it at the beginning of the file. (don't press enter, leave it as one long line!)
5) Now, change the text of that option to the one you want in this list
6) Change the value (the 1 or 0 after the space, but before the square)
7) Select File->Save As and save it as "Options.txt" (it will say "File already exist Do you want to overwrite?" or something similar) click Yes.
8) Close notepad and open RCT3!

That way, if you screw it up - you can just delete your file and, after renaming options.bak to options.txt, you'll be back to where you were originally.

***THIS IS JUST ADVICE AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING ****

the problem is that in my computer the atari folder in aplication data doesn't exist. what happens if I add it on the other options.txt file? maybe it will work.

Set your folder options to display system files.
Make sure you're looking at the right user directory.

It must exist.

As Milkdud said earlier...

Tada!

Heh, that track intersect with track one is funny. Lol, I used the David Braben code for inf. launch speeds and John Wardley for inf. height and I built one of the coaster that allows steep chain lifts and went up so (beep) high that it would've made your head spin. Then you go down a steep twist in circles, and if that wasn't enough, you went around in circles at the bottom. Heh, I think I made like 100 circles and even that wasn't enough to slow the cars down. Then, I made some straight section, and the cars flew off that. Lol, my cat was watching the cars go around that spiral. *looks left then right then left then right...*

Rofl, I should've saved that as an image.

The correct options file to edit here (which I believe was mentioned earlier in the thread) is roughly...
C:\Documents and Settings\[USER NAME]\Application Data\Atari\RCT3
(This is on a WinXP machine, so foldernames may have some variance. [USER NAME] refers to the username that you log into your machine on, for a single user setup, it should be fairly obvious.)

The Application Data folder *is* hidden by default, simply select the View Hidden Files/Folders option in Folder Options to be able to see it.

Is exactly how my file looks (minus the bold formatting). It is all on one combined line (though automatically gives line breaks when pasting to a more advanced form, i.e. this text window). The bolded portion is the cheat itself.

strange side effect from this...

I entered only the "AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect"

I still had a 9K debt! Has this happened to anyone else?

I want to thank everyone for this thread, I now have something to do to kill the next couple of weeks till Soaked comes out.

Here's one thought though. When Soaked does come out and you already have the options how you like them, make a copy of it because I have the suspicion that Soaked will overwrite it. In fact, it may change some of the format, but I'll worry about that if it happend.

And so the 3d trees still sway, and I can't intersect scenery with rides (doesn't matter which one I build first). Also, whenever I go to game options, it clears up the stuff I already typed in. If it stays in the file, that means it worked. Does it have to be placed in a certain order?

Kind of funny that the same track intersect one used to work. And BTW, they're all in 1 line, it just rearranged them like that when I copied it. Oh yeah, here's the options.txt I get after I open the options window in the game.

What? There's no rectangles on my keyboard.

And in wordpad, it displays the predone stuff in rows, while in notepad, it's all just one long line. I'll try making it in rows in wordpad.

Just tried it out with Paradise Island.

I noticed that "RidesDontBreakDown" stops the mechanics from inspecting or fixing rides unless you call them. Result is the reliability of all rides deteriorates even though the rides don't break down as often and you win the "Best Reliablity" award. Doors still get stuck and Restraints still fail - only with this option set to 1 you have to call a mechanic or the repair won't get done.

The option that allows you to intersect rides and shops with scenery is cool, though. You can set shops into a cliff face or hill with their fronts showing on the path and they function fine.

Tried "GuestsRevisitRides" but I can't say that it has any effect. Rides more than a year old still get few or no guests. Guests who say they want to go on a ride again still don't repeat the ride even with this option turned on (VIP visitors excepted, but they already did that). This is my biggest frustration with the game - having rides you invested time and thought into just sit there wasting space and running up costs after they are a year or two old.:sulk:

mackay_tt

I think I have the latest update. I am running version 3.0.12.73 and my exe file is dated Jan 5, 2005, while most of the other files are dated are dated 2004 or earlier. I only purchased the game about a month ago and ran the update at that time.

I'm having trouble getting into the options.txt. How do I do that, I went to documents and settings, then my username, but applications wasn't there, can anyone help me. I'm trying to use the trackintersect cheat.

Sullivan123

Go to "C" drive, then "Documents and Settings" folder, then "Owner" folder, then (make sure that you can view hidden files, as this folder is hidden) "Application Data" folder, then "Atari" folder, then "RCT3" folder, then "Options" text and make your added item "trackintersect 1" on the second line (as it will automatically locate in the first line later.

Please Make a backup copy of the Options text folder first.

Good luck.

Vapor99

thanks, I'll try, but how do I enable the hidden icon?

Sullivan123
07-06-2005, 03:56 PM
Go to "C" drive, then select "Tools" on the top menu row then select "Folder options", click the "View tab", scroll down on the "Advanced Settings" until you find "Hidden Files and Folders". then Select "Show hidden files and folders".

Click "Apply", then "OK".

Now that hidden file "Application Data" and all of its subfolders can be viewed.

You can then go back to the above and turn off hidden files viewing or keep the viewing active.

Good Luck

thanks sullivan123, that worked, but when I typed this into the Options.txt folder... "TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect" and then loaded the game, it still doesn't allow the track to intersect, do u know why? Sorry if I'm bothering you with all these questions.

Sullivan123
07-06-2005, 04:16 PM
I think you forgot to add the number "1" after your statement.

try ""TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1".

the space "1" is important.

"1" activates the optopn, "0" deactivates same.

Good Luck and Happy train collisions or with 1 train no collisions. :bulb:

You have to arrange everything into rows, remove it from being in 1 line, and as usual, the spacing should be right

Here's a fake sample to show how it's done.

BlowUpPeepsWithMouseClick 1
CoasterExplosionWhenClickBallons 1
HorribleLagOnLargeParks 0 ( :p )

Help! Hello there everyone. I am trying to get the AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1 edit to work. I place it in my options file and save it, but it doesn't seem to function properly. I still cannot place scenery on other scenery (walls, etc.)

When I go into my options.txt file, it does not have all of those options listed on some of these posts, it has quite a bit of other stuff, but not that. Is there some specific order they need to be in or something like that? I would appreciate anyone's help.

I can't seem to get AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1 to work with Soaked. I'm trying to place a tree on the inside area of a curved track. Normally, I'd place the tree first and then the track. When I do this with Soaked intalled, the tree disappears when I place the track. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

I'll need to check some more with Soaked!

Currently, I have made these additions to my Soaked! option.txt file:

AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1
AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1
TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

It does everything I want it to do in RCT3 except:
*intersecting scenery
*unlimited flat ride height
*turning off the rides breaking down "feature".

They look kind of weird IMO, the whole tree shakes around, and though it lacks experimentation, the vertex shaders used to drive the swaying probably remove enough fps. (most of the time you don't really see them anyways, but if you turn it off, it won't really be affected by light sources during the night time)

Bloom makes it really shiny, and WaterBump, I believe allows the water to be more realistic(i.e. shiny surface, reflecting of enviorment)

Waterbump probably turns on the bumpmaps for the simple water. (technique that makes the water appear sort of 3d) Reflective water automatically uses it.

I want to make a railroad with reversing loops at each end so that there is one track between the loops (actually two tracks merged together to form one track going opposite directions)

Why don't people actually go through the thread and read the solutions posted?

Ok, I put the TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1 right after Language "English" in options.txt but when I try to merge tracks it doesn't work. Does this trick work in Soaked? The tunnel trick for the original version before Soaked worked for me. I tried rebooting the game, nothing. Is there another way to merge tracks together like make zero collision detection or is this the only way?

What exactly does your options.txt look like? You have to seperate it from lines into rows, then when you open the game options window it will arrange it automatically. (I usually add new things to the end of the string)

Ok, this is what it looks like-

TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

Is that what it's supposed to look like?
Is TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1 supposed to be after Language "English"? Is it supposed to be in rows like that?

I got it to work now!

This is a long thread so I admit to not reading the entire thing so I am sorry if this was already asked.

What happens if I use these in a park and then put my park up for download? What happend to people who haven't changed these option, will everything work for them properly?

I think they do work. Because I've downloaded some park by Plokoon that had a Hop on Hop off train overlapping itself. And it opened.

I have a question though.

I haven't read the whole thread though, but has anyone discovered a variable that controls whether a coaster can go underwater? I would like to create a ride, other than a log flume that is half submerged in water. I'd like to raise the water just over the track. Is there a variable to control this?

It was suppose to be that way in the game but then they changed it at the last minute. You can see in screenshots before RCT3 was released they did this.

Does anybody know an answer to my question?

I only have one. Use the one in the Application Data. And if it's hidden, then go to Run and type %AppData% and press enter.

Ummmmm......once I put in the trackallowsametrackintersect1 thing it just dissapears after I close it.

Can someone help me?

Do you have a space in between the 1?

Also, Does the options.txt have to be in order for it to work properly? (I dont think so)

No and I think the problem is that you didn't save it.

Hey,

I've used the track intersect thing and it works perfect but I was wondering if there is one that makes you able to put ride entrances underground?

I have an underground subway but it won't let me put the entrance anywhere. :(

Hey yall, I did everything, and it worked perfectly. But now, they game is incredibly darker, I put the brightness and contrast up on my screen, but it still makes it very dark, and most of the text is blurry.

I think the one in the application data folder. I've asked this question a couple of posts back, but I dunno.

Also, does someone know how the LOD works?

You have to put check mark in that box. An a bunch of options appears under LOD. I really don't know anymore than that.

:( Sorry if can not help any furhter than what I said here.

Yeah, I have no clue why they put it under a checkbox now. All it does is cause inconvinience.

No, Im talking about in the options.txt. They got those two variables like 2.100000 & 3.50000, or something like that, and dont get how that works!

Hey! Your back! YAY! Anyway, I don't bother about fixing the LODs in the options.txt. I just change them in the game! ;)

RCT4me
08-26-2005, 09:04 PM
Well I'm not sure either, maybe higher values mean higher LOD levels. I haven't experimented though.

But I did remember I messed up the brightness setting a bit and wanted it at the perfect balance, so I set it to .5 or something and it was perfect.

Edit: I took a look, 3.0 seems to be the highest LOD value you can use, so just use numbers in between to specify it.

ok has any body figured out how to put scenery next to the paths so they intersect. i seen it mentioned in here but not a clear answer for it . by the way this is for soaked. thanks

Like you guys said earlier, which txt do you use to make it possible for the rollercoasters to go into the water.
I think Ryboxl1 has the solution, i think it was in his Matterhorn Recreation. Also, in the pinball map, which txt. do you use to make two completely different coasters intersect? (for example, when the corkscrew coaster goes inside the booster slide tube)

Hi! For coaster intersection like in my Pinball park add this 3 line:

AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1
AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1
TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

Bye!

Tikitiki is cool, he can't stay away from us for long.

LOD options are the Level Of Detail on objects. The 10 variables listed in the text file...

GuestLOD 2.500000 3.000000
AnimalLOD 2.500000 3.000000
VegetationLOD 2.500000 3.000000
FenceLOD 2.500000 3.000000
BuildingLOD 2.500000 3.000000
PathLOD 2.500000 3.000000
SceneryLOD 2.500000 3.000000
SupportLOD 2.500000 3.000000
TrackLOD 2.500000 3.000000
RideLOD 2.500000 3.000000

...are just the corresponding values that are located in the LOD options in the settings menu inside the game.

If you want to adjust the bar while in the game, you can, but in this file you can get them exact if have to have it that way. The first number appears to be your current setting, the second number is the max. I doubt changing the numbers above 3 would make a difference.
