View Full Version : -Star Tours- New update awsome new screens!

05-12-2005, 09:28 PM

A few months ago I got the idea of doing somthing nobody has ever done before on RCT3. Remaking the actual movie of a motion simulater ride! My first idea was STAR TOURS! I began construction on the video and got about 1/8 through before my brother rebooted the computer because of a virous problem. Dont warry we solved the problem by getting a new anti-virous and rebooting the computer. Everything was gone! All the progress on the movie was gone! From the RCT files to the Windoes Movie Maker Files. GONE! I was devistated. Well, because of the great reaction I got from Soarin' Over California. I am back and ready to give it another shot! If you liked Soarin' Over California, you are going to be blown away by this!!!

Any comments about the ride idea?

05-12-2005, 10:16 PM
Not too much to see, but... WOW nice set for the Death Star. You're going to make a coaster through it, right? Simulate the flight of the X-Wing Fighters? This would be very cool!

Yeah I am going to use coasters to simulate the flight of other star tour ships and x-wings and tie fighters.

Im going to use the camera for the flight and que it using actaul footage. I was concitering using a coaster for it but a coaster would be somewhat restricted and wouldnt remake the the camera shots of the real ride as well. Plus it doesnt simulate the topsy turbyness of the ride as well. But im working on some of the sets now and finishing up on the death star.
Im planing on using custom fireworks, vortexes Everything I possibly could to make this ride the best I could do. And do it in less than 3 shots in my goal (and blend them together).

But ya I am really pumped up about this ride, and I will keep you guys updated with screens and stuff.

that looks great! you must have a great computer for all that scenery and such!

Are you joking? lol
I have a compaq, a Radeon 9000. 1 gig mem (and i have not a single clue on what im talking about because i just read this post 4 months after i have made this post (5-12-2005) and that was the stupiest thing ive ever said). pretty basic.
Im not going to do it with just 1 sandbox, I'm thinking about using 3 or 4 and blend it together.

05-13-2005, 12:09 AM
that was cool

05-13-2005, 04:11 PM
Ok I haven't seen the video yet. I'll edit when I do. But I tried to recreate it but I wasn't commited enough to it. Good luck with it. I'm watching Arachniphobia first. brb.

Ok just saw. Dang that's much better than mine by FAR!!!!

05-13-2005, 07:53 PM
I know that this video is going to take forever to make...

Im planning on doing a Sorin' Over California remake somewhere in the mix while I still have the flight camera thing in my head. I know sombody already made a sorin remake, but its just to get an idea of the camera angles and the flight. So expect that in a week or two.

Expect Star Tours in a month or two...

Did you make one building then duplicate it over and over?(First Pic)

I do that all the time.

Looks really cool.

05-15-2005, 12:02 AM
Very cool idea k_peek, it looks like you're off to a real good start with it so far. Keep up the good work

Guilty  :(

lol, that second pic triggered some fun gaming memories of one of the X-fighter games final deathstar attacks :)

I wish you could chop off that laser gun of the laserbattle ride and install a few of those there.

05-15-2005, 09:29 AM
Woah, thats huge!! Cant wait for this, but there isnt any birds in space!

05-15-2005, 02:49 PM
Um those arn't birds..... There uhh...um...Tie Fighters! Ya! Tie Fighters :noob: . Anyway here are some more screens on how the entrance is going, Its not done yet but it looks good.

I dont know why it did that but whatever. Im testing some different coasters to represent ties and X's. (this isnt going to be easy :( )

05-15-2005, 02:53 PM
GASP THATS SO COOL!!! i am SO gonna be watching your progress as you get this done. And the first link doesn't work.

-[A.S] Fanie-
05-15-2005, 03:04 PM
lol jus use a flying coaster, they look like space ships :p

05-15-2005, 03:12 PM
and bring track and support draw distance to zero and you got yourself an ultimate space ride.

05-15-2005, 03:13 PM
I agree with EBITUSA16. Just use different coaster types, make the track visibility distance equal 0, and have them flying at the camera.

The death star looks super great right now! I like the low-graphics-quality that make the textures smooth.

I like that ride, Star Tours. I'm looking forward to seeing the video.

05-15-2005, 03:46 PM
It's huge... How about changing all the green stuff to grey?

05-15-2005, 03:50 PM
That city picture... does your computer render graphics differently, or did you do that in a paint editor?

05-15-2005, 05:55 PM

What I did was I used 2 different types of items, for the dome thing. I used a peice from the Place scenery, that main color is a whitish grayish color, and I used Blocks for the bottom and painted them gray. Then set textures to 0, and they are different colors. You cant really tell the difference at night.

I decited to use the Flying coaster for X-wings and maybe somthing like the Rotating Seat coaster (forgot the name) for the tie fighters.

05-15-2005, 06:06 PM
Thats it!

Edit: Fixed top pic, kinda!

05-15-2005, 07:01 PM
Hey, that`s an interesting project!!! Really like your work on the death-star, so far. It`s always exciting to see what people can do with this great game... I`m curious how this work will turn out!

05-17-2005, 11:00 PM
Hey guys!
I just finished the official trailer for the ride. It is nothing like the old one. I really like it. Its basicly the first minute of the ride.
Its just a taste of what you will soon get. Except the final product will be 1000000 times better and it will have scenery!!! You guys will like it. CHECK IT OUT!!!!

(Link at top of page)

05-18-2005, 11:32 PM
So what do you guys think of my video so far?

05-19-2005, 12:11 AM
Awsome, can't wait!

05-19-2005, 09:20 AM
HOLY COW THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!! I'm only assuming that there will be no coasters but just one long camera sweep?

05-19-2005, 09:40 AM

Yep but prolly not 1 camera sweep. Maybe like 3 or 4 because i need like different sandbox's to make different places and u know, just find a way to transition from 1 sandbox to the next.

05-20-2005, 10:03 PM
Looks Great!

05-20-2005, 10:57 PM
I got an Idea, If your going to make a giant comet like on the ride, use marnetmars and pumpers darkride scenery to imitate space by using the pitch black walls.

05-25-2005, 01:42 AM
I have some ideas for this. I just hope my ways work  . Anyway If you havnt already heard, All of my progress on Star Tours has been deleted, So i am either going to start back up on it this weekend or just forget about it and make the ultimate movie.

05-28-2005, 01:48 PM
Hello K_peek_2000
I have all the soundtracks for all 6 Star Wars movie. I was thinking about doing a fireworks display but I need some help with it. I could do the music but I need someone to help with the fireworks display.

06-06-2005, 10:30 PM

06-07-2005, 10:18 PM

High Pointer does this answer your question?

06-13-2005, 06:30 PM
Ok people I want this forum post closed. I have no intention of redoing it right now. Im cought up with a bunch of projects maybe i'll do it towards the winter. Kay thanks!

06-13-2005, 06:57 PM
You can just delete the original post: just click edit on the original post and then look for the delete option in the upper right.

06-13-2005, 11:48 PM
well how about this, Dont reply, IM going to do this just not anytime soon.

06-15-2005, 04:23 PM
k_peek_2000, I'm sorry about my wanting to get this done so badly. I can't wait till winter, so I've started it on my own. But it won't be anywhere near as good as yours. Check the forums in the next week or two to see mine! And I won't post on this forum until winter.

06-21-2005, 07:37 PM
I am going to start remaking Star Tours. theres not much i can do with Electrical Parade, So here I go. Hope you guys are looking forward to the return of Star Tours!!!

Hey everybody,
Here is a breif update on the epic Star Tours. Things are going incredably well for the making of Star Tours. I currently have people all over the country scrambling to get this worked on (not like the actual movie, but with profesional titles, in-ride videos, and sounds). The movie I am going to make. Its like they are going to put the iceing on the cake. This is going to be a incredable movie expericance and my number 1 goal is to make it feel as if you were in disneyland riding the actual ride smelling the actuall smells and seeing the actual sights! I will keep you updated.
