View Full Version : Wicked: The Fireworks Show To be put on hold for a while!

05-17-2005, 06:50 PM
Hello one and all.

For those of you who have not heard. I lost The Village file.

So I decided to start a fireworks show.

Here it is. It's not an in-ride pic but it's pretty good I say.

http://img263.echo.cx/img263/9091/wickedlogo48fe.th.jpg (http://img263.echo.cx/my.php?image=wickedlogo48fe.jpg)

This show will include:
Many pieces of most of the music of the Wicked Soundtrack

Ohhh, this might be interesting.:D

05-17-2005, 08:29 PM
WOW! I love Wicked and I can't wait to see what the big surprise is? :)

I bet this show will be "Popular". Sorry i couldn't resist. I love puns.

05-18-2005, 08:47 AM
I can't wait!

05-18-2005, 03:29 PM
Ok guys hope u like. it. No I don't have it I just have a question first

What should my fireworks show backdrop be?

05-18-2005, 05:58 PM
Hello everyone. I'm glad you all like the idea. So hear are the first couple pics.

http://img231.echo.cx/img231/3750/shot00011kd.th.jpg (http://img231.echo.cx/my.php?image=shot00011kd.jpg)
This is the clock from the first scene of the play. It'll serve as the "backdrop" for the first and half of the second song.
Yes, I will have multiple backdrops.

The fog rolls in for the beginning...

http://img288.echo.cx/img288/9017/shot00039pp.th.jpg (http://img288.echo.cx/my.php?image=shot00039pp.jpg)
Rotating spotlights and green explosions start the show portraying an important death scene of the Wicked Witch of the West. For those of you who have never seen the show, don't worry I didn't just ruin it for you.

http://img288.echo.cx/img288/8369/shot00061jy.th.jpg (http://img288.echo.cx/my.php?image=shot00061jy.jpg)
The green parachute firework kicks in as the fairies from hell start their business. As you all can tell, the color green will play a major role in the show.

http://img277.echo.cx/img277/1386/shot00081av.th.jpg (http://img277.echo.cx/my.php?image=shot00081av.jpg)
Three Pretty golden explosions.

The two musicals I heard on my New York trip were Brooklyn and Wicked. Although I preferred the Brooklyn music, the Wicked music wasn't bad either. And now we're sining "For Good" in our choir, and the women are do "Defying Gravity."

I'd just like to see what you can do!

Yep I should do that! as soon as I rebuild everything.
So when is this video coming out disney?

05-19-2005, 09:43 AM
well, hmmmmmmm. Not quite sure. Still TBA. This is the first fireworks show in which I'm seriously determined with timing of fireworks. Ok I really want to reveal this timing skill

See the spotlights? Well there's this one beat that goes bum bum in the time span of half a second. I timed both of the spotlights to both of those bums.

05-20-2005, 11:47 PM
ok guys here is a new, bright, captivating pic.

Let all of Oz be agreed, I've finished part 1. The next part will feature Chiz as a backdrop.

05-24-2005, 06:13 PM
Wow, it's been awhile. Well, I've been hard at work at parts 2 and 3 of the new fireworks show. But, I decided, I should give the folks in Oz something to believe in.

Soooooo I decided to show you all part 1 of the show. That's right, unedited, uncut, fully about 4 minutes long, PART 1!!!

Without furthur adue, .Wicked Part I (http://rapidshare.de/files/1962165/Wicked_preview.wmv.html)

Green = lyrics from the play I decided to incorporate into what I type.

05-24-2005, 09:56 PM
Whoa, no one replied yet, weird

05-24-2005, 10:37 PM
well, i can tell you why - its boring, but no one really wants to say so.

you have a good thing started...but there is no grandeur to the show. its a few spots...with a few sky shells. that is nothing to hold your attention. the music will keep you glued - thats not the problem - the problem is a lack of a real "show" it looks more like a high school production, than "WICKED"

when you set up this show, make sure that your stage is big enough for all the effects you wish to use. my ongoing show, "Blast", has a huge set and a ton of launchers. of what i can tell, your show doesnt. which will limit how many shells you can launch at once.

my advice is to redo the opener, and make it a huge spectacular, especially when the music breaks into full chorus. not some little dinky shell here and there. but multiple shells, and multiple blasts, and just a big BOOM. something to tie into the music.

at least, thats what i thought of it.

Where did you get the Northern Lights fireworks at--I loved that-keep up the great work!!!

05-24-2005, 11:34 PM
Well, I think it's really nice. It's not quite as "moving" as it should be, but at least I can read that it's only part one.
n747 has a good point that it could use some ooompf, but the timing is great.
Thanks - Larryb241

05-25-2005, 02:09 AM
I thought it was cute!!!!! I liked it. The only problem is that there are some times in it where u feel confused. Because you dont know what you are looking at and its just audio and no fireworks at some times. If you kept up a steady flow of fireworks the whole time. It would be amazing!!! Great Syncronization and Great Effects.

05-25-2005, 12:52 PM
Well DUH it's not as huge as you'd like it!!! It's only the beginning. Don't doubt the show just yet. There's a LOT to expect.

And don't forget, if the fireworks don't keep you glued, just note that there's a nice little surprise during one of the songs.

05-25-2005, 06:34 PM
Ok guys here are the songs that will be in the final show.

1. No One Mourns the Wicked - in
2. Dear Old Shiz - in
3. The Wizard and I - in
4. What is This Feeling - in
7. Popular - in
9. One Short Day - in
11. Defying Gravity - SO INCREDIBLY IN THERE!!!
12. Thank Goodness - in
16. No Good Deed - in
17. March of the Witch Hunters - in
18. For Good - in
19. Finale "Wicked" - in

Uh oh what do I do?

Here's a thought, just like they divide Broadway plays, should I divide my show?

05-25-2005, 06:40 PM
That's a good idea. You could have an act one and act two. Peeps could go get a drink in between.

I saw Wicked with the orginal cast--GREAT show!

05-25-2005, 07:18 PM
divide show up in to two sections have intermision

and nice work so far
I am interested in scenery and ride
two questions
1 when do you think youl be done
2 what is that thing suposed to be anyway

05-25-2005, 07:29 PM
1. lol not sure yet
2. Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise wouldn't it?

05-26-2005, 12:09 AM
I want to feel like im on drugs when I watch this movie. I want to be mesmerized! But I am sure you can do it.

And I want to announce on this forum because I dont want to announce it on mine. I've decited to dump Star Tours and make the greatest movie I can make. I really dont want to dump Star Tours because it was a good idea but what ever. You will me hypnotized and astounbed my movie. I am not going to release any info on it until it is done.

Anyway back to Wicked I am really excited about wicked! I am just wondering if you can use a different uploader thing than rapidshare because it will take over an hour for me to load a 40 minute movie.

05-26-2005, 11:00 AM
Ok, decision made

I will be making 2 (about 20 minute) videos for "Act 1 & 2)

Act 1 will end at Defying Gravity.

@ n747 - The reason my show lacks grandeur is for a few reasons. First, That's only the beginning my friend. Second, not all firework shows have to be like yours with a blast at every corner. Don't get me wrong, I love the show so far, I'm just doing something different. And last, I want to tell a story with my show, I'm not just finding music and putting fireworks in it, i want to somehow use the fireworks in a story.

Hope that answers your question.

But, the only thing I do realize is that I'll have to make my "stage" bigger.

05-26-2005, 09:31 PM
Hi. I like your idea and I have a few suggestions. I have never done a fireworks show myself so this is from a strictly musical stanpoint:

At the beginning during the spooky section, you may want to include some green fireworks, since this seems to be the ominous Elphaba section. And something majestic could work in the Galinda section (right after that before the obnoxious "Good news!" section). In the crescendo before the "Good news" section, try to make the fireworks symbolize the increase in volume and change in style with an increase and change in effects, then have a big hit when the next section hits. When "No One Mouns the Wicked" comes back in after Glinda's little section, the one firework you have there shoots up on the hit but explodes later. Maybe something colorful and larger could help distinguish the kind Glinda section from the harsh Ozian section.

Since you want to tell the story, some of these effects could help people who know absolutely nothing about Wicked to understand what is going on musically. After all, a musical is about the music. Just because it is the beginning doesn't mean the show can have blank spots. There aren't any blank spots in the story so your fireowkrs story shouldn't have any either. They don't need to be huge blasts or anything, but something going on under the grandeur of Glinda or the hatefull tonesof the crowd ould help bring the story to the viewer in a clearer way.

I've listened to the Wicked soundtrack countless times and even played it in marching band. Wicked is one of my favorite musicals. I'm really glad you are doing this.

Splitting a show of this length into two "Acts" could be helpful. Will they be released at the same time?

(Also, this show is making me think about reopening my idea of "Wicked: The Untold Story of Oz" the park, so thanks for the reminder!)

Happy gaming

05-26-2005, 09:34 PM
WOW!!! And you say you've never done a fireworks show?!?!

I love the advice. I'll make sure to use it

05-26-2005, 11:54 PM
ahem, i didn't mean a blast at every corner! man, if i did that with my shows...they wouldnt be ... on my hard drive for long.

i think you took my post a little literal. but no worries - i like where wickedfan (haha, what a suiting name) was going. and thats what i was talking about. more crescendo, more decrescendo. pops where there are pops in the music. oh man, im about to go into a whole show right here. bear with me.

beginning fanfares - here you have an idea stared. the green explosions. but how about this instead - green spots in the back shooting into the sky - all different shades of green with a shell tower (just a regular steel structure with launchers on the top) on either side shooting a green spray of sparks...kindof like....

http://img265.echo.cx/img265/5605/wick0kh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

you know? it doesnt have to be HUGE - but bring more shells into your high points. a well done show will combine the ground with the sky, and there are a ton of smaller shells that can convey the same BOOM without looking the part. ^^this three second poof contains two flower bursts, two low level bursts, two green globe lights, 4 long spotlights, and about 8 green roman candles. most of which you can find on rctpyro.com.

which brings me to my second point - to get the show you want, you need to learn how to use the Advanced Particle Editor. just a simple recolor will give it that extra boost of customization. learn it, and you will be glad you did. any firework effect is at your fingertips.

so to sum it all up - use more than one shell for the high points. big, complete poofs look better than one single shell. and they arent huge.

05-27-2005, 09:24 AM
ok I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take it too literally.

But I like where you're going with it. I'm waaaaaaay too lazy to completely re-edit the first part but I will incorporate it into other parts.

The music is more how to say.....energetic in the rest of the songs.

05-27-2005, 02:38 PM
I have been following this post. All I can say is Nice work. A job well done.
I had an idea for creating a fireworks show using the music from "Phantom Of the Opera", the movie that was just out. If I put together the movie can someone help with the fireworks.
Let me know

05-28-2005, 01:12 PM
I have the soundtracks to all 6 Star Wars movies. I was wondering if someone wanted to help design a fireworks show I will provide the music.
If interested let me know.

05-28-2005, 02:02 PM
Sorry man wrong post to advertise

05-28-2005, 02:16 PM

05-28-2005, 03:16 PM
You didnt get that joke did you?

05-29-2005, 11:44 AM
3 things.
1.Delete some messages in ur PM box.
2. Use a different server/uploader than rapidshare.
3. Give me the link to the server/uploader.

My video is 74mb with only 3 mins and 20 seconds down and its like still missing 3 minutes of stuff.

Edit: You can delete this message if u want.

Nice! Dude you have fans. I wish I had fans :sour: .

05-29-2005, 05:43 PM
k_peek, are you referring to my screenname? (It was made LONG before this video ever hit the boards.)

DisneyFREAK, just for future reference, its Shiz University, not Chiz. :p (just lettin' ya know.;))

EDIT: I forgot to comment about the pictures! thye look nice, but I'm not sure what you are going for with the "makeshift Shiz" backdrop thing. It looks a little out of place.

05-29-2005, 09:53 PM
Yes I noticed the Chiz thing a little after I bought the book

Yes, I bought the book today! Really good recommend!

What do u mean out of place?

I was thinking about you!;) :D

06-01-2005, 10:25 AM

I wonder what that's doing at Universal Studios?

*grabs itching cream*

06-01-2005, 03:39 PM

06-01-2005, 06:33 PM
Okay, this show is to be put on hold for a while.

This is all my fault

I was stupid enough to make some of the fireworks show, and forget to save it.

Another reason is that I fell into the trap of overwhelming myself with projects. I will finish up my other ones and then get to work on Wicked once again

- Stay Wicked

06-24-2005, 03:03 AM
That ad was at Universal because they are a backer/producer. Marc Platt (who's with US) is one of the primary producers for Wicked..... just thought I'd answer your question!

06-26-2005, 03:46 AM
This is AWESOME!! It's really nice to know I'm not the only one obsessed with WICKED!! I also have been playing with Wicked songs and the fireworks mixmaster. I have just recently finished my first fireworks show ever and I did it to The Wizard and I (my fav Wicked song). Keep up the good work!!

07-01-2005, 08:40 PM
I myself am working on Defying Gravity. The last 2 minutes are done. I am completely lost as to what to do for the beginning...

Anyway, will post a vid shortly...

09-26-2005, 08:00 PM
Is this going to start up again soon, it looks REALLY cool!!

I am also going to see Wicked tommorow night, I can't wait!!!!

09-26-2005, 08:04 PM
lmao. you have NO idea how lucky you are.

Ok, I started a spree of finishing some of my recent projects that I never finished.

I realized I can't possibly put all songs into this so I will only pick a select number of songs.

YOU"RE GONNA SEE IT?!?! where?? in NY or a local theatre. ITS FANTASTIC!!

09-27-2005, 06:32 PM
I am going to see it down in Denver, I am getting ready right now...................I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

09-28-2005, 05:27 PM
HAVE FUN!!! ITS SO COOL! Keep your eyes open in the Defying Gravity scene!

09-28-2005, 07:18 PM
Well, I didn't have time to say this last night, but AWESOME!!! I loved it!!! My favorite scene was the Defying Gravity scene, soooooooooooo cool!!!

09-29-2005, 07:45 AM
lol glad you liked it.
