Coming in the not too distant future, some new "goodies" to play in the sand with ;) This will be just for decorative purposes. I plan on having a "ride through" pyramid also in this new theme, along with at least a couple of buildings & some new wall pieces & things for you to make your own creations with.

Thanks for the compliments guys :D That one is kind of small, it's mainly just for decorative purposes, I'm planning on making a big one for coasters to go through also, along with some columns & some new wall pieces & hopefully a couple of premade 1 piece buildings for everybody to play with. I'm not sure what all will wind up in this, I'm just getting started with this stuff.

Don't forget oblesks, columns (with seperate crossmembers), etc!
I love the egypt theme idea! Modular pyramid bits would be cool because we can then run paths/q's thru it.

Perhaps you can have matching "ground" pieces and "ramp" ones so we can build "underground" into the pyramid/temple/ruins...

Thanks for the compliments, ideas, suggestions & enthusiasm for this theme :) Did someone say "oblesks"? lol I still have to get this one sized & in the game, but that won't be too long. I've added the texture in the bottom of the pic so you can see it better. It's hard to see the detail in the big pic of it in Milkshape.

Thanks Klinn, I have no idea what (if anything) the heiroglyphics say or mean. Cool idea though, I might have to d/l some fonts like that & leave some "messages" in something lol

Man, I can't wait!!!!!
That is some really great detailing! Not sure if you can do it, but the Egyptians used a lot of flower symbols in their decoration - lotus flowers, papyrus, palms, etc. It might be hard, but it would make things look more intricate. Also, try big long blocks that can span the tops of the columns. They used them to support roofs and created rows of columns.
Wow - that's so cool.
Thanks

Great. The textures are fabulous and decorations too!!! But you are planning to release different size of columns like the arabian set or only this big one?

marnetmar
05-28-2005, 12:13 PM
There will be different column props & different sizes also. The one pictured above is a bit too big still, but I haven't gotten the size & a few other things finished yet.

I'm hoping to keep people from having to stack a bunch of parts together with single piece columns, which will hopefully help at least a little with the fps issues with the game.

One question though:
With all this new scenery being created around here, will we be able to import a park that has new scenery in it without downloading the new scenery separately?
That's what I most liked about the older versions.

After on of my systems crashed and I had to recover my files the things I had created in my parks using marnetmar and Pumper's dark ride set and klinn's Electroshock set were just missing those pieces until I downloaded and reinstalled the custom scenery.

What might be a good idea for people who use custom scenery in their parks is to list what they used when they post a link for download and possibly just give the download link for the right objects. People will just have to decide if they want to add the custom scenery or not.

I haven't actually tried that but i know that a savegame does not contain any actual scenery material but only references to them in the games library.
I think remembering that someone posted that in such a case the custom scenery objects would simply not be loaded and are just missing in the park.

marnetmar: That looks just great and will certainly add to RCT3
I have to agree with larry241 though that especially the decoration on the top part looks somehow weird. I hope you get a chance to incorporate some of larrys ideas.

Well keep it up marnetmar! I hope to see those columns appear in my parks soon :D

Thanks for all your kind words, none of the props I've posted pics of are final yet, there's still issues with sizing/textures/etc. but I'm glad to see so many people are interested in having this theme to play with. I'm hoping to have enough "goodies" in this to keep everyone busy playing in the "sand" lol

larry241-I'm not sure about a park to go with the new stuff, I'm not the greatest park builder lol not to mention making all this stuff doesn't leave me a lot of time to build either. I'll see what I can figure out for something to show off this stuff for release though, Thanks for the idea.

iseppi-Yes I'm going to make some changes in those textures on the column. I like those, but they didn't exactly turn out like I had planned.

Your_Name_Here-I can't take credit for this model, it was made by Whiteflash for the Indiana Jones theme for the Ultimate Ride game, but he was kind enough to give it to me for this project. It needs a little resizing still.

Nice Anubis, but I'd make him taller.

Make sure you add plenty off wall pieces so we can build rides inside "tombs". I've seen a great imitation so far of Egyptian scenery with the Tomb Raider ride cam, and want to make sure that we can use Egyptian indoors as well as out.

That's frickin awesome! I suggest that you make it much larger, and perhaps all gold? Y'know, for the whole statue bit. With maybe some of the stuff filled in black and a murky green perhaps. Maybe it's just me, but I think that'd look awesome. :)

Well BB, If you like reading a lot, you can check out this thread about Jonwil's Importer & all the trials & tribulations we've all had in getting things into the game lol Over 1,000 posts & still growing.

Or, you can check out Potter's condensed version at the following link

http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=468638

YNH-It'll be bigger when released, but I'm not sure about changing it to all gold, I'm planning on having some other gold stuff for putting inside the buildings/tombs whatever people build with it.

CK-No need to worry about walls, there's going to be plenty of wall/roof pieces to build with & some floor tiles also, the only thing with them is you'll have to place your path before the floor tiles if you want peeps to walk through your building because we can't make our own paths that the peeps recognize yet.

Are you going to be adding any benches, lights, and trash cans? I know that Miss O got custom trash cans to work, not sure about the other stuff. But if they're just for show, that would be cool, too. I miss the old Egyption lights in RCT2....:(

marnetmar
05-31-2005, 08:12 PM
I had an idea for a bench, but I hadn't thought about the trash cans. Thanks for the idea YNH  I have no idea what the lights you're talking about look like, but they would have to be just for decoration, since we can't make our own working lights yet. The bench would just be for looks also, unless we can figure out a way to make them work fairly soon.

RCT2 doesn't allow you to zoom up any closer than that, sadly.:(

edit: also, will you be adding a version of that same sarcophagus(sp?) but lying down? or laying down....whatever,who cares? It would be a useful addition, and it would be easy, since you could just use the same design just change it so that it would be lying down.

That's too bad about the "view" in RCT2, Oh well, no biggie, I'll just have to find a few pics on the net for the "ruins" & I'll add a "horizontal" version of the Sarcophagus also for everyone too.

If you want some cool Egyptian ruins pics you should look at these from Montu at BuschGardens Tampa Bay:

I still have a few textures to get fixed/figured out & a lot of wall pieces to complete, plus I haven't started the "ride-through" pyramid yet. That one is going to be some work I believe lol

Phantom523-You just might be getting a PM one of these days, Thanks ;)

I should have a few more progress pics in a day or so for everyone.

Thanks Marnetmar! Can't wait to see the updated pics!

The best pieces of scenery of the others RCT will appear again with all their splendour and much more cortesy og the egyptian god Marnetmar. :D
Thanks a lot for making this scenery, because it was really need. With this scenery I can do my beloved park Terra Mítica.

You could add egypt vegetation to your pack

We really need the cover of the sun (dont know the name in english) things like in the shop of the photo.

You could add the typical park signs as this anubis that acts like a meter for look the size of the children so they can enter a ride.

Wow! looking really good!
The pyramid needs to be bigger though. Click on the picture to see how you can build it.

Only using 3 objects you can create a huge pyramid.

Agree with Wagwell, that way you could also have a Pyramid Entrance object.

Must say, looks brilliant. Greaat job.

I thing Wagwell is right, like this we couls do different sizes of piramids instead of haveng only one. BTW I love the block with the inscriptions, its totally awesome.

Wow, this stuff just keeps getting better and better.
Have you thought about large, long blocks to put on top of columns? Or some block walls for buildings?
Thanks again for supplying our "Egyptian cravings".
Later!

Wow! That's so neat! My favorite peice so far has to be......that tablet with those egyptian peoples on them. It's hard to pick favorites, but that one has so much detail! Great work!:D

Yes, i also agree with wagwell, we should be able to make them as big as want and as small as we want.

This looks Great! Very detailed! Can't wait till these come out!

Maybe you should add slanted pyramid walls so that you can build things inside the pyramids.

marnetmar
06-17-2005, 02:15 PM
Thanks everyone :)

There will be a big ride/walk through pyramid when this is completed, so no worries there. You'll be able to use it for an entrance or to put some of the other props in or to just have a coaster cruise through it. That one's going to be the biggest amount of work probably for this entire theme.

Also there will be plenty of wall pieces, columns etc. for making your own buildings. Right now I'm just having a few texture issues on a few things, but that'll be solved very soon.
There will also be some of the "ruins" type wall pieces that someone asked for like the ones from RCT2.

Thanks so much marnetmar!
By the way [a]WsOmE, the inside of pyramids don't have sloped walls. They were vertical. Only the outside stones were cut. And usually the very outside stone was a separate polished stone; which is why the pyramids you see now look jagged. The outside stones were stolen to be used as finished material for other buildings later.

Good work!
I like the stuff you've done so far and I dig the idea with the 3-part pyramid with extra enterance piece. (+1 or 2 extra for cool effects? Luxor-style cap piece?)

Keep it up!
Perhaps you could offer some texturing advice/walkthru? YOu seem to have it down pat. I'm kind of confused how to work out the UVs right now.

Thanks monkeygecko, when I get time, hopefully fairly soon, I'm going to make a basic Tutorial for using Milkshape for people to help get them started. In the mean time if you click on the RCT3 Tutorials link in my sig, you can check out a very good Tutorial made by Whiteflash for using Milkshape. It was originally done for the Ultimate Ride game, but will help with making & texturing models for any game. It's an 8 parter, but well worth checking out.

Thanks Teirmose & everyone for the continued interest in this project. This is still in the works, I've just been busy with a lot of things lately & after awhile of steady working on this I got kind of burned out on it & rather than try to force myself to make stuff for it, I figured I'd let it rest for a bit until I felt like working on it again. I know it'll turn out much better this way, rather than rushing to get it done.

I haven't heard from Miss O about her theme set in quite awhile, I hope to see/hear something before long on that, it's really a wonderful pack she's got going.

Since it appears from this week's Wild! screenshots that there will be some Egypt themeing in the Wild! expansion pack, I feel the need to temporarily put this project on hold until the release of Wild! since I don't know what all is going to be in the new expansion & there's no need for me to spend time making things that might already be included in the game.

No need to worry though, no matter what's in Wild! there will still be room for most, if not all of the things I've already made & some other stuff too ;)
