MGP: See...I envy how you use pieces. The pieces you used for the roof beams...I would never have thought to use those for that purpose. Is this a lobby? It's very nice. Library of horror...the sequel? haha.

Yes ,this is the entry lobby for renamed "Cypress Hill" The peeps will have to walk the balcony to get to the ride . And I may put in more vendors and coke machines. But yes it is Kinda like the L-of-H but I used stks hgr -91 for the curved roof , It came out sweet.

Nice picture Nesiro , but I got you figured out , You work on one small picture, then fancy editing . Its kinda like cheating for the best picture thread.

Nice Picture Swordsman!!

My first coaster with supports...took about 2 weeks. I'm currently adding lights to the towers.

Nes, I like that ideal of the cave. Looks...frightening.

Sorry to ask. But may i know what version of RCT3 are u all using to design? as i just recently resume playing this game. I am really interested to design liddat but i do not know how.

Rct3Mike
01-19-2009, 10:50 AM
Almost nothing in that picture is in the original Rct3, its called custom scenery which can be downloaded here: Custom Scenery List (http://www.rct-theme-world.de/rct-liste/complete-list.htm)

KageTouRyuu

@MGP: The lobby that you posted looks very nice! What did you use for the wood planks in the ceiling?

Terry

That was from stuks hgr 91 or one of his latest sets.

Sjakie.... Cool MGP, and the peeps can actually walk there?
Yes , The med lab is going to be the que line.

KageTouRyuu ...Sorry to ask. But may i know what version of RCT3 are u all using to design? as i just recently resume playing this game. I am really interested to design liddat but i do not know how.

I have platinum , and a ton of Custom Scenery sets, plus designing is all about imagination .Nothing is by the book you have to be creative and try to adapt what is available to your own needs.

Welsh Boy ...Just a quick question: When you all make these amazing places, do you leave the park open or do you keep the game paused so that you can build the whole thing?

Like it was said , Both , I usually leave my parks open . I like to have peeps in them so I can see the entire effect. But on big projects, I will shut it down .

KageTouRyuu
01-19-2009, 11:43 AM
I understand what u are trying to say. But When I look at almost all the pictures from the 1st page, What i can see is that I thought u guys just made those stuffs according to ur imagination. And some1 just told me it is a custom scenery. And I do not know what is a custom scenery. So is there any1 kind enough to teach?

Rct3Mike left you a link. I suggest you look in the Parks Forum to see what is being done with different sets.

--Griffon--
01-19-2009, 12:13 PM
Custom Scenery are objects you can download and put into your game made by other people, and are usually more flexible to use, and make your game more creative.

That creates the reason that non-cs users are more popular because it is really hard to make stuff unique and creative with the scenery in-game.

Aaaaand... now here's 2 more pics from a project I might and might not release.

MaskedBandit: That ride looks very well themed and the foliage looks highly layered which should make it a pretty intense ride overall, nice lighting as well.

Deadstar: That coaster looks stunning and the terraforming looks so realistic, you really should post more of these projects.

PB&J: The area you've built looks really eerie and quite rundown, that single light is quite interesting and imo highlights the isolated feel the image has.

Nice pic HW. I would suggest enabling vegetation outside of the park. I also feel that the angle does not accurately depict the beauty of the environment that you have created.

On a related note, you may want to modify the letters as the font is a little too small to accurately display the name.

When can we expect more from it??

HumanWreckage

Thank you, It was the best angle I could get without showing unfinished areas. I really like the idea of a panaorama shot of the mountain, so I will most definately do it once complete again.

I noticed, I was mad when I saw how photobucket resized it, it is much more readable on my computer. I am going to have to redo this shot, let's just call this a rough draft.

Hopefully tomorrow I have enough done for an update.

There is a Custom Scenery forum in the Exchange. The stickys located in there should asnwer your questions about making CS. Yes, you can make nice things utilizing only the in-game scenery. Search through the Strategies and Tutorials forum for tips and information.

Well... I won't comment on my own shot... but...

Nesiroo: I like the use of the set, and the realism, but I feel it's a bit too barren and needs more detail.

Infiniteblue: Looks really interesting... but I'm a bit confused by the water jet from the rock formation, and the colored rocks just seem out of place.

MGP: Spectacular as usual, but I feel it is lacking the effort and attention to detail shown in your other works.

Gibbss: That is one of the most powerful silhouette shots that I have ever seen. Nice job.

LoneWolf: The color scheme seems a bit awkward to me, but I love the tunnel effect that you created by the turn.

Honestly , I didn't spend alot of time on the detail here , because you are just going to fly past this one time pretty quickly , so at 20 MPH I don't think you get a chance to study the details, this is just 2-3 sec. of an 8.5 min. video.
But maybe you can find a few details in this Shot.:p

Really? ...really? It seems that you create images just FOR the best pictures thread and to be honest, it's not a great pic. It's an image of Spice's new asian set, but beyond that there is no artistic flair to it. There is nothing in my mind that warrants this as a best picture because it's completely forced. It's an attempt to gain exposure and to fish for compliments and when you don't get them, you place the blame on the members of the community instead of stepping back and wondering why they didn't compliment you in the first place.

People are telling you something when they don't respond to your images in the best pictures thread. But for some reason, you feel so entitled that you hound people when they don't give you what you want.

Oh, and don't say that you were kidding because you added a smiley...the fact is you still wrote it and there is a deliberate reason for it.

Gibbs - Beautiful silhouette shot of the castle - the colors are really subtle, but so powerful.

Really?

Okay, look, countless numbers of people have said something similar to that before in this thread, so what makes it such a difference when I do it? Second of all, that picture I posted was just a simple test, a small little teaser, like all my other RCT3 pictures were. So, of course it would be simple.

End of discussion.

^Then why post in the "best pictures thread?" It's not the 'tests, concepts, ideas, trial pictures thread.' I'm not saying you're the only one who uses this thread for advertisement, but I firmly believe that this thread should be used to showcase outstanding work...you should take a few minutes to ask...is there something here that actually makes this a great picture? Simply posting for the sake of posting isn't one of those things that makes it a great pic...

...but you're free to do as you wish. Just don't go fishing for compliments. If your pic comes and goes without comment, it certainly wasn't passed unnoticed. I have no pity for people who are so starved for attention they complain when they don't get it.

EDIT: Sorry...no more off-topic! :(

1. It's already happening here ;)

2. I agree. Posting, whining about no comments, and ESPECIALLY adding a post to the next page, moving your picture to the top of the of it, just because you we're unlucky enough to post it at the buttom of the page before.

Especially the latter is a clear sign of attention-wanting.

I agree with what was said, I love the concept you are trying to make, but you are just short of making it, not to sound rude. The supports need some fixing, I would suggest using half sized ones so it can look more realistic, also don't make it flat, like mentioned. I would also get rid of the gray things, they don't really fit on a wooden structure. If you expand out, then you won't have a purpose to place them on there.

Looks good gluesniffa, but the metal pieces look out of place on the wooden walls and the wooden supports don't quite fit with the steel coaster. It just doesn't seem like it would be stable enough.

Wow......was it necessary for everyone to bash away at him really? I mean some forums are known for everyone being jerks. So can we not let that happen here. If there is a problem can we just let the Mods take care of it?

How is calling someone out on their faux-pas being a jerk? The fact of the matter is that he made a decided effort to get compliments by bullying people through his words. Maybe you don't see it, but I can sense passive aggressive behaviors and it's not healthy to the community.

Nesiroo - so...like MB said - it's the best pictures thread..not the 'here's what I'm currently working on, but I don't have a thread dedicated to it yet' thread. You know how to take good pictures, I've seen it...so why not use the same techniques in the game? Unique angles, compositional basics of design, interesting crops, and along with the editing you do - better lighting. These are the things that make BPT pictures pop. I don't want to start a community rift, but it does get tiring when the pictures in the BPT aren't all that they could be...especially from someone that has been behind a real camera.

Ok, I'm gonna drop it from this point here on out. :)

Even though it's all criticism, I'm quite honored half the page was about my picture. :)

Just to defend everything:

I always planned on adding stuff in that shot, I just liked how it looked already. I have done some terrapainting and added some rocks, and it looks much better now. Without the metal pieces it looks incredibly bland, but I will look for a substitute. The wooden supports are actually suppose to look flimsy, I'm supporting this whole coaster with different scenery objects, and that turn and another turn are the only parts that actually have supports on it. I believe once I add a roof and maybe a couple more shrubs, and rocks, it will look top notch. I'm taking everybody's criticism to heart though! It's much appreciated!

How is calling someone out on their faux-pas being a jerk? ...
There's nothing wrong with that at all imo, but it isn't just, Nesiroo, others have done the same even though, Nesiroo's, are more obvious. By the looks of things it's not going to solve anything on the forum anyway seeing as some people don't listen to good advice when it's being given, as you will know already.

There's an example on this page even after you've talked about not posting any old image of a project, but I'll stop ranting now and hope that at least a few people have taken notice of what you and others have said.

-- --

MGP: The way the water and foliage looks at night in your image is so realistic and from the ripples in the water to the great lighting inside the entrance of the building, it all looks very well built.

MaskedBandit: That image is again, so lifelike and it's nice to see a fresh and creative take on mixing scenery with the new Asian set to create a highly built up area, with the beautiful landscaping and foliage adding to the peaceful atmosphere you've created.

I love looking at all these terrific pics!! You are all so creative - these are all outstanding!!
After finally weeding through my nearly 500 RCT3 pics and changing those that I like to jpegs, I wanted to share - I hope this works. I do not have any CS or anything fancy; I just like to build blank parks and open them up for the peeps. Been a long time player of RCT3 - and humbly admit it is my one true weakness (i.e. is it REALLY 1:00 AM and I'm still playing this game!?!?). The first pic is a sample of the landscaping - I like to use mountains and elevations to divide the themed scenery areas - some generic, some spooky, etc. It works and no one :) ever complains about mixed scenery.

Crowheart

Make sure you're using the Direct link instead of the thumbnail one, that's what is causing the blur.

Nes - looks neat, but I think you're strangely obsessed with boab trees.
Become Wrath - That looks intense. I love the silhouette of the hills and the reflection on the dark water.
Orez - looks sweet, I love that structure made with the girders. Cool use of footers with the flags on top, and nice support work on the coasters in the background. The fences around the tables are cool, it's like your own private dining area while still outdoors.
Liamrocks - I like that blend of CS, very creative. I also like the diagonals with the fences and balcony thing. That coaster looks awesome.
BJK - whoah that's impressive. Is that new CS, or did you use ground tiles? That really doesn't look much like RCT at all!
CriskO8 - Beautiful! I love the lakeside buildings, and I love the way the roller coaster rises up from behind that beautiful restaurant. I like the terrace over the lake.
Doffy - great job of not using CS as always. Those stands are incredibly creative.
SimoDavid - the effect on that pic is nice, and I like the atmosphere.

Thanks, it is a new project of using Source SDK to retrieve textures from Half Life 2 and other Source games that look great using CS billboards in RCT3. All I need is a conforming billboard floor and the possibilities would multiply.

Interesting. I tried something along those lines (As in using a billboard ground using Shyguy's ground tiles) and it was pretty cool. What are you using for your billboard? And I agree, a conforming billboard floor would be very awesome, I'm sure I'd find plenty of uses for it!

Very nice detailed square Belotto !! I bet that took alot of time and work!!

dutcher
01-28-2009, 11:40 AM
TD3, that looks nice, but also plain, you need more variating trees and more playing with the terraforming, it now still seems a bit fake. Also you need to make differences in ground textures and maybe some water plants at the edge of the water to make it look even more realistic, the coaster does look good though except for the fact that I have this feeling that the overhang at the top is missing a support. Oh and yeah, you should've posted the first pic in the weird/cool pic thread.

Belotto, the first pic was really beautifull, it looks like I'm actually on hawaï or that kind of islands, I really liked watching too it. Your second pic though...is absolutely the best, it actually reminds me of a vacation I spent in Germany. In Trier it also had this busy very old and detailed building-style as you have put in that now.

Gadget, holy **** dude. Oké I normally don't say that but that first pic is just that. Really detailed for the fact that it is all custom made scenery. It looks as if you have been mixing up a rct-pic with the background of a real-life pic. THAT real! It also seems as if you deleted the whole grid system. Really amazing scenery with great textures and also well-put together. The second pic though, wasn't really the first pic, the entrance seems a bit fake IMO. It's not the lighting, really it isn't that, it's just what the fire lights...nothing. Well almost nothing, so it really still needs some work.

rctmore, amazing how much it looks like BTTF, really well-done.

RocknGuitar, I must say, that's some great architecture you've used there, nice use of the different colors on the same, plain texture. You really pulled it off really nice. Great shapes and a great building in general.

MGP, if the rock didn't came through the ride, it really would've been a great pic. Unfortunately I absolutely think that that little piece of ground ruins it too much, I also think that there ain't enough details in the pic, I know you can do a lot better then that, even though I like the idea of a rat race, you just need to work on it a bit more. The second pic though, really makes it up with the first pic, it's so crowded that I have no idea where to look at. Amazing lighting and nice use of the raft slide, it really makes it feel like the end of the suer.

Metalmaniac, personally I don't think the terraforming is that good, it has a shape indeed, but I also think that terraforming includes the use of ground textures, and I simply don't see that except at some pieks. Use different kinds on different spots, and place more trees and shrubs, this way it's not all about the terraforming. The ride isn't really that amazing either, for a coaster that is serounded with hills and waterfalls it still is too plain; USE THE TERRAFORMING, raise the inner ground of a corner, make a drop when the hill goes down and up when it goes up. Now it's just a plain ride on top of a plain mountain area. I also suggest that you use more rockwork around the waterfall, you've started it, so you need to finish it, now it still looks unfinished, may I also suggest using shy's rocks, it can make it a lot more real.

BJK, hmm, not sure, it is plain, which for some reason looked good at the last pics, but just not with this one. Expecially with that weird shape of buildings in the back compared to the walls in the front, as if you mixed two pictures at a completely different angle; making it look fake.

themerideguy, hmm, no. A good pic just needs more then just big red firy particles, it needs shape, it needs details, it needs something that you can hold on too. The only thing you can hold onto here is that wall, and that wall isn't just enough. This should have more scattered pieces, broken walls and damaged things then just that wall.

magicman, the park looks like it can be a good realistic theme park, but just not yet. And for an artsy pic, you really should've filled it all more, I can now look through the trees and see a huge ammount of too green grass and the horizon. It needs a bit more progress.

Deathangel775, and two more reasons why I wanted to nominate that park. Anyway, the two pics are absolutely beautifull. Can't wait to look at the update.

I know what you mean about the details , but that is really a preliminary shot , First of all though ,that rock is actually a waterfall!! I noticed the ground thing after I posted the picture , and not too many plants grow underground so I will have to get creative to find details to put in here.
