Professor Von Soaked, famous architect and imagineer, has been hired to head the design department for Wonder World! His first job will be to give the park a major face-lift, to be followed by new major attractions.

When interviewed, he bragged, "Yes, Mr. Wonder has done a nice job with Wonder World so far. But I can do better! My design team includes some of the most talented people around...Klinn, JCat, Marnetmar, and Caffeen, just to name a few. And I'm always looking for new designers to add to my team."

Already, work has begun on the park. The most noticable is the massive Space Port that stands at the entrance to Wonder World.

The M Brookes cheat is activated. The short, curved, light blue base is a tall curved wall sunk into the ground. And the orange, curved piece is from the new city scenery set. For some reason, there is no collision detection set for this piece (and the other office roof pieces) so it can occupy the the same space as other pieces. Too bad there isn't a cheat to turn off ALL collision detection.

And to everyone esle...

Thanks for the nice comments. It's always great to hear from you!

I didn't read everything but was wondering if everything you used in these screenshots is available in the game. Did you create any of this stuff? I don't have soaked so I don't know what is possible in it yet.

Also was the ability of adding words to building added in soaked or is that custom scenery too? This just looks too amazing to all be in game stuff to me.

PARK'S BIGGEST ATTRACTION TO BE BUILT IN ALPINE VILLAGE!

The biggest attraction since Expo 3000's Space Port is being built in Alpine Village. It, along with the refurbishment of Alpine Village, will be the largest expansion in the Phase Two development of Wonder World.

Walter E. Wonder..."The walls around the village are being redone and the mountains surrounding the Wizard's Castle are all being re-textured to match the themeing of the new attraction, Rumbling Ridge. It will be the most expensive ride we've built so far."

you also have alot of patience. i try to build a building, and if i dont like it i either forget about it and tear it down, or leave it because im too lazy. the good thing is that your patience really really shows. how many hours a day do you play RCT3 anyway?

Everything looks amazing, but could you maybe form little ridges around the track so it doesn't just look like its floating. In certain areas the track looks like its part of the mountain, and in others it just sticks out. Not sure how possible this is, but maybe.

Other than that, perfect atmosphere, architecture, and terraforming.

Oh, one more thing are you going to give the station a building, because I think it needs one.

I can't feel my head! I think it was bashed into a wall one too many times :p. It was a great concept but the coaster isn't very smooth, man. Some of those turns would have the peeps slammed into the side of the car alot. Hate to say this though 'cuz it looked so awesome. But I just felt I had to be honest. But I could understand why the coaster is how it is. It's a pain in the butt when trying to get the coaster to fit so well on a mountain. It's not easy. The park is still one of the best though!

shyguy
07-10-2005, 02:28 PM
Yep, Milkdud. I agree with you. But I had to make some compromises to get it to fit right. Remember, this is a recreation of the model I designed years ago. So I tried to remain as close to the original design as I could, which meant some sections weren't perfect. But the peeps didn't seem to mind, though.

They are awesome! I don't quite know how to teach someone how to design a building. the best way for you would be to just study the pics or download the park and study the buildings up close. Oh, and sorry about that concussion.

A Marsh is like a swamp. Most people will use the vehicle in the second one for those types of places.

1st pic - Nice scenic trip. A Safe trip.

2nd pic - Your not inside on this boat. You are outside. The wind is in your hair and it is almost an adrenaline rush as you go through the marsh.

I feel that both would work. It just depends on what type of ride you would like this to be.

*I love the second one*

07-13-2005, 03:15 PM
So far, I'm thinking I agree with you guys. At first, I thought #2 cause it's the kind of boat that would be used for places like the everglades, swamps, etc., and Catfish Cove is supposed to be an old southern town, probably somewhere in Louisiana or Florida. But I think #2 looks a bit too high tech. I was hoping for something that looked more like an old keelboat, but no such luck.

Am I the only one who voted for the second one? Oh Yah....It's My Birthday! I still like the 2nd one too. I think if you just changed the colors to the rustic brown and yellow and green it would work. But that is just my opinion though. Hey Shyguy, can you take a pic of the two different boats going along the track to see how it fits in with the rest of the ride and scenery? Maybe it would give people a better perspective on the 1st or second. Good luck. I can't wait to see how this turns out!

larry241
07-13-2005, 04:05 PM
Muskrat Marsh name implies swamp. You could really make it look swampy - I mean with trees and bushes actually in the water and offer Swamp boat rides. OOOOORRRR, in my opinion, the OTHER boats look like and could be glass-bottom boats - hint, hint. The water is MUCH clearer in SPRING (HINT, HINT) fed rivers and lakes.
Anyway, just remember everything is in a name.

I put a second station (with no entrance or exit, just one dock section) near the very end of the circle. Then, it completed the circle with no problem. I never thought it would work. Kudos to Frontier for making this work so well. Only problem...the peeps never get off. They just stay on the boat and go around and around...

I don't know, I'm not sure I like them shooting at those types of boats...

1. doesn't seem safe
2. the boat ride looks more like a peaceful ride you'd take your grandpa with a bad leg on. The watershooters would probably make oldy types not want to go on it.

I agree with the statement of Mr. Wonder. If Catfish Cove would excist in real life I'd ride Muskrat Marsh Expedition, but not if there were waterguns pointed at me. They just don't seem to fit in the environment of Catfish Cove.

Phil
07-17-2005, 07:02 AM
Yeah the waterguns would be a bit annoying. Perhaps you could do a mini flume going through the alpine mountain thing and just coming out of the waterfall one side and going back in through the other one? Just a short ride thouhg with like 1 drop.

Great work, ShyGuy! The buildings and docks just look 'right'. You always come up with innovative touches that make a scene look great, like using the tree stumps for dead trees in the swamp area. And the shooting gallery was an inspired idea - maybe Frontier should put in carnival 'mini-games' in a future expansion? Just so long as they give you royalties... ;)

shyguy
07-17-2005, 01:36 PM

I downloaded the first Wonder World and although the park was outstanding, framerates were horrible. It took about five minutes to scroll across the whole park. Okay, I'll try to answer all the questions...

My computer is pretty top of the line. It's a Pentium 4, 3.6Ghtz with 2Gigs of Ram and a Radeon X800 Pro graphics card. Wonder World has no lag so far. Installing Soaked improved performance, especially when using the ride cam. My framerates are in the teens, until I let the peeps in. Then it drops to around 5-8 fps. Slow, but still playable.

And here's a pic of the model, which pretty much shows all of Phase 2 except the Space Port. But I've posted pics of that already.

And I thought I could build models (of course that was for school) - you have got to be one of the best I've seen.
How old are you? Do you work or are in school? I'm really in total awe. I mean, thats Imagineering quality.
Do you have a website or something?

larry241...

To answer some of your questions. I work. I built the model while I was in college, many years ago  . I don't have a website.(haven't got a clue how to make one) Don't know what else to say. It's just a hobby. I LOVED theme parks as a kid, especially anything Disney. I HATE riding coasters (They make me ill) But love watching them. The whole idea of a park that is a fantasy world where you can go to escape the real one has always been such a wonderful concept to me. I guess that explains my fascination for theme parks.

larry241
07-19-2005, 04:36 PM
Well, that really is good work. You should take a look at building model coasters. There are some great websites out there. I understand about riding them. I love to ride, but I've got a blown disc in my back. Now I can only ride the ones that keep you from moving at all in your seat.
Thanks for sharing with us. Can't wait to see what's next!
