View Full Version : ~ SagaLand ~ (coaster OUROBORUS RIDE-DOWNLOAD!!!)

06-30-2005, 11:22 AM
Welcome to the first park I`m posting in this forums - SAGALAND!

The first coaster just got finished, and you can DOWNLOAD a video and the parkfile at the bottom of this post.

ItŽs called OUROBORUS like the mystic snake that devours its own tail - a symbol for circled energy and eternity. When the park takes shape over time, OUROBORUS will be part of an area called THE LOST VALLY which will feature other mystic themed rides...
So, before I tell some of the story behind the ride, here`s a first teaser pic: (more pics can be found in the newest posts throughout the thread)

Overview from CARRIBEAN CABANA, the waterpark in the middle of Sagalake

The ride takes the curious visitor on a tour through the Lost Mountains (of course in the LOST VALLEY), which - according to rumors - is the resting place of the mystic snake Ouroborus. The legends mention that watching the movements of Ouroborus very closely, will reveal the secret of eternity to the careful eye... But only few have a will strong enough to withstand the furious roar of the giant monster! (yes the snake is angry - cause being destined to live forever can really piss you off...)
Only one man - an old hermit - dares to live next to Ouroborus. He built his small cottage in the mountains from where he can study the snake moving through its terrain, hoping to one day discover that creatures secret and gaining immortality...
Brave visitors of SAGALAND will also soon have a chance to follow the trail of OUROBORUS!!!
...That`s if you dare...

OUROBORUS video-preview now available:

(the file also includes soundfiles for your MyDocuments/MYMUSIC/RCT3 folder)

Lol nice idea.

Work is going pretty well on the centerpiece of SAGALAND! That`s why IŽll now show you the first serious pictures.

There`s still some theming to be done, but I hope you enjoy...

I love this pic...

So, what`s waiting for the visitors on this magical shore in the heart of SAGALAND?

It`s CARRIBEAN CABANA - heartpiece of five different areas to come in the future

We even got al little group of musicians for entertainment...

But what would it be without pools???

...and waterslides!

to be continued...

I would be happy about comments! Thanks!

Well, I ment more along the lines of buildings, but plam trees are good too.

Thanks for your comments!
There really was a lack of scenery... But I didn`t plan on leaving it that way. So here`s an update with added scenery:

Uhhrrmm... Sorry for the bump...

Suggestions, opinions?

One more little pic...
And: I love the speaker-objects. Now the band actually plays some native drum music!

CARRIBEAN CABANA, the heartpiece of SAGALAND is finished:

Here ar the latest pics:

Comments would be nice and motivating... :)

Looks good, but it still looks like it could use more scenary/buildings.

07-02-2005, 11:05 AM
@ Tmul:
Thanks for the reply. But I think I`ll leave it that way, at least until I worked on some other part like the park-entrance and BUCCANERS BAY.
The reason for not having so much buildings is that it`s supposed to have an open beach/island-feeling. And it`s not to easy to theme pools while they won`t let you place scenery and building parts on them...
But be sure - since I`m a big darkride-enthusiast - that you`ll see large buildings, containing entire rides, in other areas of the park! ;)

07-02-2005, 01:10 PM
These are the last pics of CARRIBEAN CABANA that I`ll post:
(Have to go on with other things) Expect new parkareas soon...

As you can see, there`s lots of space for other things to be done!

No, it also works this way. I already tested it, and peeps are using it. And more importantly: they`re landing in the pool.
What I like about the ship is how it looks like it just ran into the island and got stuck there ... :D

I started work on the first coaster in SAGALAND!
It`s called OUROBORUS, like the mystic snake devouring its own tail - a symbol for circled energy and eternity...
The new ride is located on the shore of Sagalake next to CARRIBEAN CABANA. When park construction continues, the ride will one day be part of an area called THE LOST VALLEY.

Here`s the story behind the attraction, before I show you some pics:

The finished ride will take the curious visitor on a tour through the Lost Mountains (of course in the LOST VALLEY), which - according to rumors - is the resting place of the mystic snake Ouroborus. The legends mention that watching the movements of Ouroborus very closely, will reveal the secret of eternity to the careful eye... A night shot...

Onride-shot from the testing... It`s been affirmed now that the ratings of this attraction will cause no harm

Feel free to comment if you like what you see - or even if you hate it. Just remeber everything - especially theming and some terrain-editing are still work in procress...

08-20-2005, 02:27 PM
I see you've been turning down the detail levels... Don't you hate when you have to do that? Parks tend to look so good at first but then you have to slowly turn down the detail.

08-20-2005, 02:33 PM
It is annoying, indeed. Although I could still play this park with full detail. I turned detail down to be able to have a look at some parks that I downloaded from people in the community. Just forgot to put everything up for the pictures...
But I know there will come a point when I`ll only be able to go on with very low details... maybe I should already get used to it.

Some more pics:

The view from the (also not finished) parking lot

...Looks like there is a loop coming out of that mountain

That must be the cottage of the old hermit...

hmmm.. from that cottage you got a nice view on the trail of OUROBORUS

Here is the last update in the current state. I`ll post more pics when some more theming and a station building is done...

An overview of OUROBORUS so far...

08-21-2005, 12:37 PM
I got some new pics, although hardly anybody replied yet.
But that`s ok, it`s the first park I`m posting here, and I`ll just keep it up, since I`m really starting to like how it turns out...

I now have the first impressions of the new station building and I added an animatronic to represent the old hermit mentioned in the story of ride (I explained the story some posts ago, but you can also have a look at the first post of the threat)

...the hermit, looking out for OUROBORUS

inside the station - notice how the entrance to the actual ride is supposed to look like evil snake eyes and a mouth with flames

Before posting some new pics, I`ve got to say that I love the costum darkride-set! Those pitchblack walls are very helpful!!!

So, enjoy the pics:
Comments would be nice... :)

Yo saskro!
I love the way your park is set out at the moment but the landscape looks a bit...bland OUROBORUS looks amazing how it is set up and i would love to download the park when it is finished

I really love the concept of this park. Looking forward to seeing what other attractions will be added.

The station for the coaster is fantastic. One of those scary launched drops that will make riders duck thier heads.

Everything looks great.

08-22-2005, 11:41 AM
Thanks mattioz and Joe! I`m glad you like it!

@ mattioz:
yes, you`re right I saved the theming of the terrain until the end. Just added some bushes and stones while constucting other parts. Tracklayout and buildings just were more fun. But once I`m finished with all buildings I`ll add more trees and stuff around the Mountains.

@ Joe Comatose:
I`m happy that you like the concept and the first drop.
Since you were curious about other rides, I`ll give away some of the concept for the future of Sagaland:
After I built the entrance leading into a main street area called PARADISE PLAZA, I`ll build a pirate themed area called BUCCANERS BAY. I`m planning on having two major darkrides there - "Curse of the seven seas" and "The haunted estate" (an old gouverneurs mansion.
Other areas will be OLD NUGGET TOWN, featuring a mine- train coaster and a log flume darkride. SAGASTUDIOS (movie-area) and THE RED PLANET (space-themed) are also scheduled to come, but maybe I`ll have to update my computer before that. And, of course, I`ll finish THE LOST VALLEY - the area where Ourobouros is located - a jungle-themed river rapids would fit very well!

08-22-2005, 06:22 PM
I added a brake to make the ride less rough from the onride-view and can now give you the official final stats of that coaster:

Excitement: 6. 97
Intensity: 7.10
Nausea: 3.38

plus 6 Inversions

Ride Duration: 2:05

Here are some more pics.
I`ll update when the the ride is completely done with all theming and the finished station building. If ppeople want IŽll see if can do a video with the ingame video-editor (...never done).

http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/4197/loop014xp.th.jpg (http://img77.imageshack.us/my.php?image=loop014xp.jpg)
I decided to do some shots of the train going out of the dark cave into the loop, since I especially like that part

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7753/hermit010cc.th.jpg (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hermit010cc.jpg)
And a little preview of the ending of the ride - if you read the story in the first post, you can maybe guess what the hermit is looking at...

Enjoy! (I figured that thumbnails would be better, since the the thread doesn`t take that long to load)

The station is not completely finished, but work is going well. Here are some pics of the entrance area and queue of OUROBORUS.

wow thats great dude !

08-23-2005, 05:28 PM
Thanks Sawyer!

I just noticed that the coaster-cam seems to be slightly slower. Maybe I get some slowdowns because of the new buildings or it`s some costum stuff that I installed. But that`s one more reason for me to offer the ride for download when it`s finished, so that people can ride without serious lag.
But first I`ll do a video in the next days!

08-23-2005, 10:47 PM
ItŽs finished! All buildings are completed, the queue area is themed and the last thing to do are maybe some trees around the mountain and the track!

Tell me if you like it so far...
IŽll try to make a video till the end of the week and then I`ll give you the download!

Here are some daytime shots. I upload some nightshots later...

This coaster is looking REALLY good, Saskro! I LOVE the station! I love the use of the bamboo supports on the track. Tell me, does the train launch out of the station over the hump into the snake's mouth? Or does it just creep over the lift hill? Either way would be thrilling because of the anticipation. I can't wait to see more.

08-31-2005, 01:19 PM
Thanks Fisherman,
Glad you like it!
The train goes slowly over that first hump. I prefered that moment of anticipation when you look into the red eyes and don`t know what`s coming next. I also added some cracking and burning lava sounds that you`ll hear from beyond while waiting in the station and when finally getting lifted. I also think that a slow start fits the theming better, because it feels more natural than an instant acceleration. I`d prefer that for a space, racing or some other more futuristic themed coaster...

Maybe I`ll do a vid next week!

08-31-2005, 01:55 PM
One of the coolest looking rideds I've seen, yet. Also, is the dark ride( can't spell it's name) the only ride there or are you going to add more rides than what it already has?

08-31-2005, 02:46 PM
Wow, nice you like it rct3freak! It`s more a themed coaster than a darkride, but I`m planning on doing some real darkrides soon.

Since you were asking, I took a picture of how things are expected to turn out:

This is the layout for Sagaland as I had it in mind! Expect two major darkrides in Buccaneers Bay. You`ll meet pirates and ghosts there, and if you survive, you can relive the Wild West in Old Nugget Town. The MovieStudios will offer a Studio Tour and a visit to Jurassic Park. The Red Planet is a very futuristic area that lets visitors be a part of the battle for Mars. The final area is the one which is already started with Ouroborus- The Lost Vally - a place of mytholocical and Jungle theming.

As good as this may sound, I now found out that it would be impossible to built all this stuff while keeping the rides big and detailed. That`s why I decided to save the blank map, and then do every area as a separate download. I think that`s a good solution, because people will hopefully be able to ride the rides without to much lag.
I`ll soon offer a video and parkfile-download for ouroboros as a kind of a teaser. Then I`ll start from the entrance-area Paradise Plaza and work my way from area to area, releasing them as standalone chapters.
Watch out for updates...

08-31-2005, 05:34 PM

09-11-2005, 10:12 PM
After taking a break from building this park, I now got an update:
Here`s a video of Ouroborus! It`s the first video I ever did for RCT3, so let me know your opinions...

If people like it, I`ll offer a parkdownload of the ride, before I move on to other areas of Sagaland when I get a little more time. I plan on doing all the areas of Sagaland as stand-alone downloads like explained in my post above...

09-12-2005, 07:07 AM
The video was pretty good, can't wait till you put the ride up for download.

09-21-2005, 02:11 PM
Thanks rct3freak!
I especially appreciate it because I literally had to fight with windows movie maker 2 to get the vid finished. That programm freezes faster than a pond in December... It almost got me insane!!!
I hope to give you a download of the ride around next weekend!

Edit: Did you like the way the video was done, or would you have prefered more onride-footage?

If anyone is interested to DOWNLOAD the parkfile with the ride, here ti is:
Sagaland (http://rapidshare.de/files/5368165/Sagaland-Ouroborus.rar.html)

Have fun!

Hey.........as you may or may not know, my pueto uses ginormous amounts of water.......so what I did is marked a water hight with a certain land type, and while constructing, got rid of the water. Then when I got ready for taking pictures, I put the water back in! It helps with framerate a ton.

10-21-2005, 06:05 AM
Nice themeing Ideas so far. If you donŽt mind, IŽll use some of them for future projects... :)

Looking forward to see the next pics.

10-21-2005, 09:23 AM
wow, someone brought my park back up! Thanks guys!
But I`m not sure if I wil continue this. I like how the ride turned out, and it gave my a good chance to practice some ideas, but I guess I`ll never be able to build this project like I planned to. At the moment I plan to go for a smaller park that would still be playable even if it`s build with detailed themeing. Maybe I`ll also do some standalone darkrides, because lag probably won`t allow to add more than one in a park.
(but be sure that all the rides and themed areas taht I planned here will reappear in some of the smaller parks I`m about to start)

@drsheep: That`s a nice idea! I`ll have to try this. It could help if the water really is responsible for a big part of the lag.

@beletto33: Glad you like the ideas. I guess your talking about the layout plans for the park. Just use whatever you want. After all, it will end up being your own version and not like I planned it. So that`s no problem. And somehow I have also been stealing (or inspired) from Disney Parks, just changing some names and using a lake instead of a castle... :)
