i am fairly new to RCT 3 and i have never been good with making parks in the first to. I really want to make a spectacular park but without ideas or park planning skills.. i cant. Any tips for making a park.

That's my one gripe with RCT3, there are no basic pre-set 'layouts' to build a park around. This is a big problem for those (like the person above) who find it hard to build parks from scratch. I would say the terrain is a major factor in this. A pre-set layout including such things as the odd waterfall/lake/hilly area etc. would be a large help to a number of players.

Basic things you need before you start:

-Have a layout in mind. You can get ideas from Disney's "wheel" design. Make it unique though.

-Have themes for different lands of your parks. You don't have to conform to RCT's preset themes. Make up your own. Like I've done time travel, racing, prehistoric, egyptian, etc.

make alot of building. Parks look very tacky and cheap without buildings. Also add foilage, they make a park look finished.:D

Don't make a lot of buildings, rather make buildings that have appeal, fir your theme and the setting it is intended for. Don't do like many and have a park that looks like several large piles of lego blocks sitting in a field.

More importantly, don't rush into it, quality takes time. Go to the echange forum, go tho the back end first, work forward seeking out parks you'd like to open from their previews.

Use what people here have created to assist you in becoming the Park Designer of tomorrow.

Take a circle, cut it into pie slices and designate each slice as a different theme.

I'm working on a set of 'default' maps for folks to download. These will be simple scenarios if you copy them into the scenarios folder or sandbox parks if saved in the parks folder.

I'm also using these parks to build a tutorial set on making parks. You can see the tutorial in developement by clicking here (http://www.vodhin.net/HowTo/Island/index.html)

Planning ahead for a park has always been a problem for me as well. I prefer to build as I play (I don't use the sandbox, because I want to see whether my park is profitable or not). So I created a scenario with no buildings, just landscaping. Since it was my first park (and the only one for that matter), I made it as big as the game would allow me, because I thought it would be better that way, naive that I was. Anyway, it turned out an extremely difficult scenario (for me, at least), but not impossible to solve. If you are interested, I could send it to you, so that you use it as a basis for your park - you can very easily scrap as much of it as you like in the scenario editor (or sandbox mode, if scenarios are not your cup of tea). It could serve as a rough layout for further development - as lgarcia in the second post suggested.
