View Full Version : The Riverwalk (Revived 7-26-06 with new layout and pics)

First, to all of you, I appreciate the many hours of work you do on these projects. I have several videos plus a few of the parks offered here.

I have messed around with RCT3 and Soaked. When RCT3 first came out, I experimented with a "Riverwalk" amusement park. After more practice, I've decided to try a new Riverwalk project. I made a portion of the entrance already. It is actually patterned after a city landscape and I will need to add buildings to it. The peeps walk up one city block to where the roads intersect.

Today, I worked on the park some more, but forgot to save any of it. So, I lost a couple hours worth of work. But it allowed me to reconsider the size of the project. The main portion of the park was 25 X 128. I think I'm going to increase the width to about 35 to allow a little more space for rides and widen the river.

One problem I had was with putting rides underground (Riverwalk was depressed about 36 feet below ground. I couldn't put a coaster in there because it was difficult to get the ride all the way through. I tried a Haunted House, but it wouldn't let me go to the top of the track. I tried a Log Ride, but it had a weird feel to it. That, and as some of you know, the lights come on, and it gets really bright.

Anyway, I'll show you some pics a little bit later on after trying again. I think you'll like it.

BTW, I know the real Riverwalk is in San Antonio. While this park is inspired by it, it certainly won't retain the feel of the actual Riverwalk.

EDIT: Here's the first five pics. So far, I have a Merry Go Round, a boat ride on the river, and an Aquarium (which I've made a building for.)

I've not done much scenery except to create the Aquarium building. I'll do that last. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open.

Sorry, just bumping this back up. Otherwise, it'll get lost.

Ooohhhh.... The Riverwalk I went to in San Antonio had Boat Tours. I love the city scene (I'm a sucker for cities :downcast: ).

It's been many years, but I remember doing the boat tours a couple of times. They've been represented here as the rowboats. There were a couple of nice hotels at the turnaround (not pictured yet, but will be.)

I'm open to suggestions for most anything. Remember that scenery will be added near the end.

BTW, my family has discussed taking me to the Riverwalk in San Antonio in a few weeks. I could take picturs and use that as a basis for the park.

7-19 Update: I have held off on further work because of my San Antonio trip next week. I plan to take a lot of Riverwalk pictures and adapting them to the current park, or completely start over on another version of Riverwalk.

New pictures from a new version of Riverwalk Park. The first pictures involve the first restaurant, which happens to be a KFC (and a pretty upscale KFC to me). The first one shows in the inside of the two level restaurant. The second and third one show exterior shots. The second is riverside and also shows an exterior dining area beyond KFC's sidewalk dining. The third is streetside. The last one is the current layout.

A couple of notes:

The last picture shows a blue building near the bottom right corner. It's named Roto Riculus (after the former SFOT ride). The Thunderbobs ride is inside. I may change the look of the building. I don't believe it will work as it stands. Also, something you may not be able to see well is the tour boat ride on the river.

Landscaping is by no means done, and will largely be done once rides and buildings. There is a long way to go on the project, but I am open to criticsm. I want this to end up being one of the best in the forum.

Considering this is an update to a year old park that's being redone, I have no problem with the added update & I don't see why anyone else should either.
