View Full Version : How can you save a custom building?

I saw that you can open pre-built buildings and put them in the game. There is also a Save button I think on the menu. But, how do you 'select' the building to save it?

Also, I have built a nice Food Park, and was wondering if I could also Save it as a 'building' so I could use it again in other parks. Is this possible???

I have not tried to save buildings yet with items in them, so I am not sure if it is possible to get everything. I know it selects any scenery in the area, but I am not sure about food stalls, paths and the like. That one I'll have to let someone else expound on. :D

As for selecting your building: Under the custom building button, there are three choices. Save, Open, and Color.

When you click the save button, a small information panel opens up with only two buttons on it, an X for cancel, and a Disk for saving your building. While this is up, you simply select the region to be saved in the same way you would select the area for your janitors to patrol.

I recommend selecting an extra line of squares around the entire building to make sure you have everything. This serves two functions.
-1: It shows that you have selected something. you cannot see the selection under the building, so you cannot be sure you have everything highlighted.
-2: By having that buffer zone, any walls that are not placed correctly, or scenery that may be added, will be selected as well. I have made selections a couple of times and realized I had a misplaced wall that I now have to place again because of not doing this.

Hope this helps!

To save a building you create, open the custom structure icon (looks like a matchstick house) drag and highlight all the squares you want and choose save.
Recommend at that point to "re-load" building once to make sure it all appears. If not, just re-save building selecting a one tile "zone" around it as well. (Not always needed) and re-save.

To delete the "test" building, just select the trash can and then the multi can tool and highlight as you would to save, then delete it.

Note: This will include all scenery objects inside that are "non-path" items.
it will not save stalls, paths or rides.
To save WITH a ride, use the save ride tools instead, which in Soaked saves all scenery items as well, including the building.

Thanks guys. I'll give those tips a try. Too bad I can't save my food court for future use. Would save a lot of time. ;(

You can, just screenshot the interior design as you go for future reference. Have found the interior easier to do each time I do it.
