Well then do something about it!

From the maker of the Diagonal Path(lol), comes a way to make your water rides(water coasters, log flumes, etc.) empty out into lakes instead of above them! :D

FIRST: You MUST have Soaked! and these options.txt cheats:

AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1
AttractionSceneryAllowSceneryIntersect 1
TrackAllowSameTrackIntersect 1

I'm not sure which one of them allows this, but one of them does. PLUS, they're all really handy!

For more information about the options.txt cheats(where to put them, and so on...) go to this thread in the veteran's discussion forum: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=453395

There's only 5 steps! Isn't that great!?

http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/4389/step14jb.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step14jb.jpg)
^First: Create your water ride so that it is ALMOST touching into the lake.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/2789/step27zs.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step27zs.jpg)
^Second: Up the land so that it's one more tick away from the water. Use the tool highlighted.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5387/step37kq.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step37kq.jpg)
^Next, use this tool highlighted to raise the land about 40 cents worth. Or for you people across the pond, raise it so that it's almost touching the water, but not so that it's above. You wouldn't want the land showing, that would ruin it all!
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5212/step43uv.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step43uv.jpg)
^Step 4: Repeat. Simple as that.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/8852/step56ib.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step56ib.jpg)
^Step 5: Build your track! Of course the boats won't splash in the water, so you'll have to put a water track with the water coaster.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/9708/step67or.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step67or.jpg)
^Finished! No more ugly track above the lake!
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/2362/step76pc.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step76pc.jpg)
^The water coaster in action!
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/7825/step85tv.th.jpg (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=step85tv.jpg)
^You can see the boat a bit better in this one. See? The water doesn't spill on top of the boat, and it's not too far under! It's perfect! :D

Good luck with your next water creation! Hopefully this will help your water ride be even better!

Very nice Y_N_H. I have not played around with the new rides yet (been working on my waterpark mostly), so now you've saved me a lot of work on how to do this.

THANKIES! :D

Your welcome!

I found this on accident, lol. I hope it's useful. It certainly will be for me! :p

Actually, it will be very useful to me too. One of the rides in another park I am requires a drop into a lake, so this will be very helpful. :D

You can also put some barrier walls to make it look even more realistic! :D

Ahhh! I knew about this but I never thought of taking it this far. Great find! This is awesome! I know someone who will find this VERY useful! Thanks :D

P.S. It's the AttractionSceneryAllowTerrainIntersect 1 that allows this to work.

Ive never heard of those options cheats before, so i read how to do them and i tried, but i think i did it wrong because nothing changed. could you give a simple explanation of how to do it?

   good stuff, it can also be used for the fact that the water in the water coaster "splash tank" looks like crap.

Except if there's any way to get rid of the excess terrain, I'd be sure to use it.

There's a link in the first post to the thread that explains all about it. It's well worth looking into, the possibilities of the game with these are endless.

Your_Name_Here,

Can you do this trick with the splash boat and log flume tracks too then, or just the water coaster you used in the screenshot guide above?

I haven't tried it with them, but the mechanics of how it would work say that yes, it will work with ANY type of coaster and ride. Probably even flatrides!

Also, there is a problem with reflecting water, water will reflect everywhere EXCEPT the lake where the log flume/ water coaster enters into. Thanks to disneyland255 for this info. :D :(

That's a shame about the non-reflective waters, but nevertheless that's a terrific thing you've uncovered. Well done! I'm really hoping Frontier will finally make legitimate submergible flume and splash boat tracks in Wild.

Has anyone found the solution to the excess terrain? Maybe you can just adjust the land around it to make it look better? But then you wouldn't want the area around it to be too deep.

I don't really get what you were talking about with the reflective water, do you mean how it doesn't reflect if it's at different elevations?

excess terrain? No terrain is poking up above the water, so you really can't see it unless you look really close.

And also, you can add walls around the "splash zone" to make it look like a sort of barrier so that you hide the land a bit more.

Oooh! Nice :D will have to try this sometime!

BTW, like your pic milkdud!

Yeah, but since it's soaked, you can go underwater and you might have underwater stuff around it.

I'd stick to the method of smoothing out the surrounding terrain.

Has anyone tried this method with Wild!? It worked for me when I just had Soaked but I tried doing the same technique after installing Wild and it didn't work. Any thoughts anyone? I'm DETERMINED to get this to work!

Another old thread gets bumped lol.

Anyways, to answer your question, I hadn' tried this with wild but there's a possiblilty that when you installed wild, it removes the stuff from the options.txt, go figure.

I guess the water trick doesn`t work anymore because of the advanced tunneling in wild! At least I don`t get it to work anymore. I`d prefered if they just kept the old tunneling.

I may be wrong... Can anyone confirm that we can`t submerge the rides with wild?

It doesn't change any of that. My text file is the same as I've left it back in Soaked. I've still got all three active. Tracks just don't go through the terrain anymore. At least I've not been able to get them to.

Moved to tutorials board. You shouldn't really resurect threads that havn't been posted in for over a month, but this seems relevant so I'll leave it open for now.

I'm in this situation too, my water rides with soaked were all done with this cheat and it looked great. But when I installed Wild, and re-opened my "work in progress" Park, all of my work was destroyed. The tunnels I had done have also been modified. I don't understand why they keep modifying everytime the way tunneling works... I find no "improvement" for tunnelling in Wild.
I also want it to work! If anyone have a solution for this...

It should be stated at this point that any options.txt cheats are not supported. They exist only for internal test purposes only, while it is great that some people have made use of them, they are not a feature of the game.

I have tried to get this to work for ages now.
I didn't quite understand before, is it because I have wild?

I f so, can't I disable the autotunneling feature and then do it?

^ My memory's a tad rusty, but I'm sure the options listed on pg1 (the terrainIntersect stuff..) must be in the Game's options.txt from the Program Files\Atari directoy and not the one in the My Documents Directoy - I've herd people placing the options in the wrong file and then they don't get the options (I admit, I;m being lazy to look at which one has to hold the options in the options.txt file :) ) -somethin' to check out...

Ok, I'm a bit less-lazy - here's the post
