View Full Version : Nintendo Land - Orlando (MEGA update, page 2. 21st august)

07-23-2005, 01:07 PM

You've proably seen TM and Stayingdead's parks on this project, you can find them here:

-Nintendo land Tokyo (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=430960&perpage=30&highlight=&pagenumber=1) (giveTMachance)
-Nintendo world UK (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=483635) (StayingDead)
-Nintendo LAND Orlando (this one)

Basically, we're all making nintendo themed parks for part of nintendo's new holiday resorts. I'm working on the Orlando park, so in this thread I'll post any updates and news on progress.

In this space, I'll post links to any movies, pictures, or even files that I post.
Please note, the movies are in .wmv format. If you are using firefox, remember to right click andsave as, and also add the .wmv extention to the file name. If you don't, you'll just get a page of code!

These are from the old park! I'll get the new pics here soon.

RETRO ZONE - A tribute to the birth of video gaming. These classic games made gaming popular. Were it not for these, we porbably wouldn't even be playing roller coaster tycoon 3 today.

Lol....Tetris is one of the weirdest games. I'm interested to see what kind of ride this is. These Nintendo parks are some of the best things I have seen created in RCT3.

07-23-2005, 01:25 PM
ooh come on!!
Tetris offcourse!!! geez:rolleyes:

maz :D

TETRIS! WOW! You actually have the reall blocks used in tetris. Great work. Can wait for more.

07-23-2005, 05:08 PM
Great going with that great themed tetris thing. I can't wait to see what else is in store.

07-23-2005, 05:43 PM
Just a brief update, I've built the track layout and started work with all the theming... building those tetris blocks round the whole track is an incredibly slow process! But, I'm getting there... I'll post more pics when its finnished tomorrow.

07-25-2005, 11:15 AM
25th July:

Well, tetris is finnished.

Whether I'm pleased with it or not, I dunno. This is the first ride I've bothered to make look good with a building and stuff, so its pretty glitchy. Its not a thrilling track iether, its more of a wild mouse style if anything... I did put a vertical drop in though, as a slight hint to tetris.

SO... I've made a movie. Yes, my edditing sucks, I've never touched movie maker before. But, whatever.

HIGH QUALITY MOVIE (30mb) (www.mat.tloveland.com/rct3/tetrisvideohq.zip)

LOW QUALITY MOVIE (10mb) (www.mat.tloveland.com/rct3/tetrisvideolq.zip)

Make sure you right click and save as, especially if you're using firefox. You may need to add the .wmv extention too.

And one thing I didnt show in the movie is a picture of the roof...

And here'd a shot of the path up to the ride...

All i can say is WOW at the movie great tetris themeing someone has to show me how to make movies !

Thanks! I just used the "Thick slate slab" from the coloured walls set. I built it up with loads of white ones, then just oloured a few in black. Viola!

Those links to the movies take my to a bunch of nonsense. Nt the movies. :( Please fix them and is the colored wall set in Soaked?

07-25-2005, 02:28 PM
The movies are .wmv format. Firefox goes funny when you open these. There are 2 options:

1 - Download them in internet explorer.
2 - Right click, choose "save link as", and then add ".wmv" to the end of the file name.

And I have the coloured walls set in the original, I don't have soaked yet :(

DJ Atomix
07-25-2005, 02:31 PM
Is it a custom set? I'll look the next time I get on RCT3! I just ordered Soaked today and it should arrive within 10 days. But I think it'll come within... 8 Let's see if I'm right!

Anyway, thanks for telling me how to get the video.

DJ Atomix
07-25-2005, 02:36 PM
AHH! The video still doesn't work. Trying again.

07-25-2005, 02:58 PM
I'm reuloading them in zip files. If you still cant work it, check back in about half an hour. I'll have updated the links to .zip

DJ Atomix
07-25-2005, 03:00 PM
OK, Yea, It doesn't respond for some reason. I think it's because of a link. FF doesn't usually do this with wmv on my comp.

the video was ok, the ride needs some work, Try Banking the turns, and possiblr make the ride have, not so many chainlifts. uhhh, the muisc somewhat fits the ride. but overall it looks pretty good.

DJ it is the gneric colored wall sets from the original RCT3

DJ Atomix
07-25-2005, 03:07 PM
OH! I never used those before! Now I know what set. Thanks!

07-25-2005, 03:20 PM
Try the video now, I've put it in a .zip.

Thanks for the advice. I know the rides not great, like I say I'm pretty rubbish at this. I'll try banking the turns, But there isn't really much else I can do now its stuck inside that building :(

07-25-2005, 04:33 PM
Can you PM Me with details on how to make a movie and the ride music rocks.

07-25-2005, 05:20 PM
Wow! That movie is great! I wish I knew how to make one.

07-25-2005, 09:25 PM
that ride was awesome but you need to bank your turns..

07-25-2005, 10:35 PM
But Tetris wasn't really developed by Nintendo, it was Alexey Pajitnov. ;)

DJ Atomix
07-26-2005, 12:11 AM
Does it really matter? NO! And I had to reinstall WMP. It was acting up with music after awhile.

Yeah, but no one ever played it until nintendo got the rights to it and bundled it free with the original gameboy. (hence the roof)

Ok, I want you all to help me out on this one. The corner where the Tetris ride is is going to be like a classic game area. It'll have tetris, pac man, space invaders, and maybe even pong somehow :D.

I know they arent nintendo games, but they're my tribute section, like TM is doing a rare tribute section.

So, I've built a pac man ride.

Yay or nay? I know its pretty crap, but if you guys like it I'll keep it.

It really needs some custom cenery.. can any one help me out there?

EDIT, I've just made some slight changes:

Very Good, i love pacman. For custom scenery you could download them off skippers "RCT Desktop Tool" found here.http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=474101 :D

07-26-2005, 10:16 AM
I'm moving out of the classic corner for now. Over the other side of the park, I've started construction of a big mountain, just for the hell of it. I don't really know what I'm gonna put there yet, I've ust got a few ideas...

However, I'm going to make the lower part of it "DK's mountain". Right on the cliff face lurks this monster:

200 feet in the air, with a maximum speed of over 75mph, this thing is rated "extremely intense" from test results.

I'm going to assume you can tell which game this is based on... right?

DJ Atomix
07-26-2005, 10:27 AM
WOW! That's great! Maybe you want to put that devil think or something at the top as DK. And you might also want to color the cliffside. Just some ideas. Great Pac Man ride by the way.

07-26-2005, 11:49 AM
I hope you know I was just joking with you about the Tetris game. :)

The Pac-Man board is kind of cool. I'd just go ahead and keep it. After all, you got it modelled after the actual board, how could you not like it.

Donkey Kong of course.

07-26-2005, 12:54 PM
I like what you're doing! you're full of inventive! and your tributes for the "N" games are very well done!:D

07-26-2005, 02:25 PM
Thanks for the comments guys! makes it seem worth the work :D

07-26-2005, 02:27 PM
I'll have to admit, seeing all these Nintendo parks (and my love of Nintendo games) has really got me inspired to make one of my own as well. It would be so fun. :) But, unforuntaly, I have so much other stuff to do, like summer school. :( That I wouldn't really have time. I agree, I like what you guys are doing too.

Keep up the good work.

07-26-2005, 10:26 PM
The Donkey Kong one would look fun to ride, but I'd be a little scared. :D I can see why it's a little intense though, the turns need to be banked to make it easier on my brain when I ride it so it doesn't crash into the inside of my skull.

08-06-2005, 10:20 AM
I supose I should let you all know whats happened....

Basically, I've lost everything and had to restart. Yipee.

But, work WILL continue. I've been playing around with soaked, so now its going to have loads of the new features.

Best of all, I've got a new helper. Nesdude is going to be designing lots of rides for me.

Main reason of this update is to let you all know I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks. When I return, I will have 2 weeks left of the school holidays, so I intend to get LOADS done. You all have A LOT to look forward to, especailly with nesdude's support.

See ya'll in 2 weeks!
- Mat

(did someone say "new park enrance"?)

08-08-2005, 03:41 PM
Hey everyone, nesdude here. Just wanted to say hi, introduce myself, and best of all, show a teaser screenshot. I will be working with vgmusicrevived to bring you Nintendo Land Orlando. I really enjoy making realistic roller coasters, and judging by my name, NES is my thing. So, making coasters is basically what I'll be doing. Of course, there may be a sneek peek video of some of the coasters in the near future... *wink* *wink*

And now, what's ahead. Now, I won't give it away by name, but I will let you know this. It goes From ZERO to 70 in 3 seconds. It's Big. And it's Blue.

Coming soon.

I'm back!!! This is a pretty bitg update, so bare with me...

I took a laptop on holiay with me, so work started again in spain. I have returned with several completed rides...

Firstly, DK's jungle.
This is the jungle themed section of the park, with a nice variety of rides, for thrill seakers and people who like to sit in little jeeps pretending to drive.

Here's an overview of the jungle:
http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/6914/shot00066ed.th.jpg (http://img392.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00066ed.jpg)

The rides in this part are:

Jungle Jeeps - fearuring jungle japes as the music (da-dum-dum-ch), This is one for the slightly less brave riders. This has a building, which I just built for a bit of variety. I couldn't think what to put inside, so I just set it on fire.

Treetop launch - A big launch thingy. Pretty intense, only the bravest peeps will dare ride it.

DK's Jungle cruise:
This water coaster starts with a nice gentle cruise section, before heading up the side of the mountain. Another gentle bit with a stunning view of the park is shortly spoiled with a break section through a watrerfall and a steep drop down, inside the mountain. This splashes down in the middle of a valley, surrounded by waterfalls.

Believe me, you WILL get wet.

Also, this ride has the DK rap as its music. Hell yeah, you know you love it.

"DK, donkey kong,
He's the leader of the bunch, you know him well,
he's finally back, to kick some tail!"

Rock on.

The station:

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/1103/shot00013rq.th.jpg (http://img198.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00013rq.jpg)

Everyone's favourite ride inspector, clearly thrilled by the exciting ride:
http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/8285/shot00024ig.th.jpg (http://img388.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00024ig.jpg)

The cruise section (and a bit of jungle jeeps):
http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/965/shot00033ra.th.jpg (http://img392.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00033ra.jpg)

The top of the mountain... ooo, the suspence...
http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/5374/shot00041vn.th.jpg (http://img388.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00041vn.jpg)

The boat emerges from the tunnel, into this. Prepare to get SOAKED.
http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/9006/shot00056ky.th.jpg (http://img388.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00056ky.jpg)

I may add to the jungle, dependant on if nesdude will build me a minecart ride. I'm sure he will.

I know that wasn't too nintendoey, so heres something for you:
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6046/shot00084ac.th.jpg (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00084ac.jpg)http://img327.imageshack.us/img327/4955/shot00101xy.th.jpg (http://img327.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00101xy.jpg)http://img327.imageshack.us/img327/4372/shot00080yt.th.jpg (http://img327.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00080yt.jpg)
Lets play a game... first person to guess the name and type of that ride can... um..... request a ride for me to make a movie of, either excite bike or jungle cruise. Tricky, isn't it?

Voila, the result of a holiday in spain. (it doesn;t stay on the plain all the time, so it would seem.)

Comments please!

Note: I deleted my thread about this, because I now know vgmusicrevived is back.

Don't blink, because you may miss it. This bad boy goes from 0-70 in less than 3 seconds. Goes through a mind boggling 17 inversions. It's big. And it's blue.

Welcome to Bigger Blue.

Now, for a bit of history. This ride is loosley based off of the track(s) "Big Blue", that came from the game F-Zero, released on the Super Nintendo Entertaiment System (SNES, for short). F-Zero was then updated and released on the Nintendo 64, known as F-Zero X. And after the Gamecube's release came F-Zero GX. Big Blue's tracks have been known for wide sweeping curves and many inversions. So, when vgmusicrevived asked for my help in building a F-Zero themed coaster for Nintendo Land Orlando (check my sig), I knew what I had to do.

And thus, Bigger Blue was born.

This shot shows the twisted part of Bigger Blue, basically everything right after the launch. This track is sorta hard to follow, but I think you can figure it out.

A more clear shot of the twisted part. Note the straight track-that's the launch.

In F-Zero, you could run over purple/pinkish colored parts of track and re-energize your sheilds. The hill is for pure airtime, and a break from the inversions.

But after that nice hill, it's back into inversions.

Now, this little yellow thing is actually a break block, but it is used as a booster, sending the train up to 60 mph. There are actually 3 of these boosters, one in the twisted part, one after the airtime hill, and this one. These yellow boosters were used in F-Zero.

After that booster lies another airtime hill (you FLY over it!) and this long speed zone, for lack of better words.

And there you have it- Bigger Blue in all her beauty.

Dramatic shot... wah!

So, yeah. Here it is. My first coaster that has actually turned out to be good. Hope you enjoy it, and look for other work coming soon from nesdude Productions.

08-21-2005, 03:04 PM
nesdude, check your PM's.

I really can't wait to get that monster in the park :D

08-21-2005, 05:24 PM
man, these coasters r awesome! might i suggest a metroid addition to the park? I might be able to make a Metroid fusion coaster...

Tch! Sega Land will kick Nintendo Land's butt any day! :D

Heh. J/k

Has anyone ever been to one of those Sega World indoor theme parks? Went to one in Sydney which wasn't bad but very small and expensive.

But yeah if we had Sega parks, we could get some old-school rivalry happening :)

I was playing around with ideas for a metroid coaster. I think im going to put a "brinstar" section in a big hole. The problem is, the closest I can get to lava is the fire generators... It may actually look pretty cool. I dunno.

What I'd really like is a way to change the water's colour. Then I could have orange "lava" waterdfalls and stuff. That would rock.

I may not have much time to work on the park for this week, I'm at a music summerschool thing every day from 9-3. Just so you know.

08-25-2005, 09:26 AM
you should do a mario 64 thing were you gotta go up that spiral hill. I know its not from the NES(one of the best systems ever created) but it would be good. Same with a Mario Kart go kart track. PLus with th pack man thing maybe someone can make coloured ghosts to put as the ghosts. great park!!! I'd make one if i had patience. I might make a ride or to but thats about it.

09-09-2005, 03:07 PM
I hate to say it but the pictures of bigger blue are a woodie.

Nintendo Land UK Thread up soon, im half way through N Plaza. - Main Plaza area.

man, this park is gonna be awsome, dont let this thread die!!!!!!
