How will you manage with Hydra? With the lack of elements in the game, will you put your own style to it?
I love this park, please make it good!!!:D

07-26-2005, 09:05 PM
I have been experimenting on Hydra due to the lack of availble track pieces. I have come up with many possible track layouts. Will post screens soon.

Here you go, even more screens:

Any comments on Talon and anything else?

07-26-2005, 09:58 PM
Looks Good, but my only suggestion was that make the first loop on talon bigger.

07-26-2005, 10:59 PM
Hi Jrnck97, the park is looking good so far.
I have been to the park a number of times and would be more than happy to help...just let me know! I highly recommend these websites for some info:

Just a suggestion...towards the end of Talon, instead of having the inline twist you actually want to have a corkscrew...looks like it will fit if you just make a 180 degree turn right facing the station and corkscrew it over the 1st drop track like in real life.

I am working on a Hersheypark remodel ( http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=483867 ) and found webshots and themeparksonline to be a great help. Unfortunatly my computer is a bit old so I had to put a hold on my Hershey project...once the parks get to a certain size they just create way too much lag...if u need any help let me know!

I love DP&WWK! I like Hershey better though! I can't wait to see it finished!

Looks good so far...I'm going to Dorney Park next week! I love that place!!!!:D

Hey, Dorney Park is my hometown park and I live 2 miles west of the park in my mothers house since I was born! I was born in 1974 and have been going to DP since about 1980. The park really changed alot since Cedar Fair took over in 92, they tore down some older rides (Journey to the Center of the Earth boat dark ride-mill chute by Thunderhawk, Rocket ride by Thunderhawk, the Iceberg where the Patio Pizza is now, the old Thunderhawk entrance building with bumper cars, the sky ride, water skooter boats by Zephyr train) But, they added alot of new rides. In 83, after the park closed for the season in Sept, there was a terrible fire that burned the old carousel and a dark ride called Bucket O' Blood. I met one of the former owners of Dorney Park who ran it between 1967-1984, Robert Ott at a table by the carousel at the main entrance, he was signing the DP history book available at the gift shop. I tried doing DP, the current version in RCT3 but gave up, I have a few of the coasters, and the train track, not much else. I would like to see how yours turns out.

07-28-2005, 12:33 PM
I have just completed Thunder Canyon and Cedar Creek Cannonball. For some reason, the entrance/exits on both the rides does not seem to work. I have a cleared area for the entrances and exits for both, but when I move them over the square, it turns red? Can anyone help?

Anyway, here is an overview of Thunder Canyon and Cedar Creek Cannonball

How did you change the water color?

07-28-2005, 12:53 PM
You don't own the land, rebuy it then you can place the entrance/exit.

07-28-2005, 12:59 PM
Thanks everyone!

DJ Atomica - I dont know. I just changed the color of the ride and that's what I got!

Tmul - Thanks for that tip!

I also have started to plan out the areas for White Water Landing, Hydra: The Revenge, Wild Mouse and Camp Snoopy.

07-28-2005, 01:28 PM
Your doing very well! All the rides are almost acurate!

07-28-2005, 05:07 PM
Do you have Soaked? Then you can do Wildwater Kingdom! I have Soaked. Most of the flat rides that Dorney has are in RCT3 like the Enterprise, Wave Swinger, Scrambler, Monster (Soaked), Hang Time, Revolution, Sea Dragon. There's only a few missing, like the Musik Express (closest thing would be to enclose a Wipeout ride), Apollo 2000 (there's a swing ride in Soaked), and kiddie rides (you can make very small car rides in a semi-circle with the smallest possible station and have multiple rotations to simulate kiddie rides)

07-28-2005, 05:16 PM
Thunder Canyon is now complete! Here are some more screens:

My next big hurdle will be Hydra: The Revenge. The grid system in RCT3 can make building some rides very difficult. Hydra is an example of one of these rides. It will also be difficult because the log flume and Steel Force all converge in the area surronding the back of Hydra. I will post screens when I hopefully finish this area.

07-28-2005, 05:55 PM
on talon instead of that inline twist put a corkscrew... Everything else looks good though.

07-29-2005, 01:01 AM
Very Nice, cant wate to see Hydra.

No, the ending inversion on Talon is more like a twist instead of a corkscrew.

07-29-2005, 02:11 PM
Finally, I have completed Hydra: The Revenge. It was very difficult designing this roller coaster. The station was easy, but the hardest area to design is the place where Steel Force, Thunder Creek Mountain and the backside of Hydra all converge. Here are some screens:

Looks Great! But I think you should use the "Hyper Coaster" for Steel Force instead of the "Hyper Twister" coaster.

07-29-2005, 02:47 PM
Jrnck97, u should make the hill for Thunder creek logflume bigger, because, I sware I could of thought when I went there last year it being bigger then that! And wheres the waterfall that u go through on the logflume did they take that away

 :weird:

No, the ending inversion on Talon is more like a twist instead of a corkscrew.
Actually it's more of a corkscrew inversion. However, B&M had to elongate it because of its placement around supports and nearby track....a corkscrew would remodel the inversion more accurately as seen here:

07-30-2005, 02:21 PM
Hydra looks awesome. It looks acurate also...

and steelforce is the wrong type of track. steelforce should be a hypercoaster not a hyper-twister...

If you really look at it, it's a twist angled like a corkscrew, but they call it a "Wing Over".

It's also impossible to recreat or make any real life coaster in rct.

07-30-2005, 06:49 PM
Right, but I think it would look more realistic in RCT with a corkscrew than an inline twist...

07-31-2005, 05:33 PM
Are you doing anymore??

08-01-2005, 05:45 PM
jrnck97 are u going to finsh this or not??

08-03-2005, 07:24 PM
Just to let all of you know, I am planning on finishing my recreation of Dorney Park. I have been very busy lately and have not had any time to work on it.

08-04-2005, 10:56 AM
Not a bad job on Hydra... That's a very difficult coaster to recreate. (I have about six different versions I've tried). The one thing I missed in your version is the twist to the right in the main drop. I wish there was a way to do that huge overbanked turn after the drop. That's the part that gave me the most problems.

Anyway, I've been having fun watching your work on DP. It's my "hometown" park, as well. (I live about 20 miles away in the Pottstown area. ) Keep up the good work!

08-07-2005, 07:10 PM
I hope you get to finish this. Dorney PArk is one of my favorite parks, and I may be going there sometime this week. Good luck on the completion of this project.

08-15-2005, 01:18 PM
are you getting anymore done don't forget about this topic i would love to see this!

08-15-2005, 01:22 PM
you should use the hangar 51 buildings for the Hydra Station building!:)

08-15-2005, 09:18 PM
Just to let all of you know, I am resuming the construction of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom. Thanks to the release of Stuk71's Hangar 51 set and Pumpers Steelworx custom scenery, it gave me more ideas to improve and finish the park. I am planning to replace all the supports on Talon, Hydra, and Steel Force to make them look more realistic. Thanks to Hangar 51, I will be able to make a more realistic station for Hydra. I will post screens very soon.

I think u did a great job on hydra. It's super hard to recreate with that Inclined Dive Loop after the drop. I rode Hydra and it was AWESOME/BEST FLOORLESS I'VE RIDDEN. It looks just as good.:( :bored: :) :p :D

08-16-2005, 02:47 AM
Hey, do you have any shots of the Thunderhawk area? And I'd love to see how you will do the Zephyr train, guess you have no choice but to use a steam train and color it purple, unless you use something like a monorail and do the merge track trick and have it run on train track. And how about the Whip? It seems the best way would be to use the haunted hotel ride in an oval with a roof over it. I grew up with Dorney Park and saw it morph over the years, I get very sentimental at the Thunderhawk area because there used to be a boat ride in the dark there next to Thunderhawk called Journey to the Center of the Earth with a lift and drop at the end. But, Cedar Fair got rid of it after they got the park in 92. I was on it for the final time in August, 1992. I graduated from high school in 1992 and that was the same year Cedar Fair acquired the park. Since I bet most of you haven't been going to the park that long you probably knew nothing about it before. There was another unique ride that Cedar Fair trashed, it was called the Iceberg and was located where the Patio Pizza is now, it was a cuddle-up ride in the dark with strobe lights and loud music. Cedar Fair changed the park alot since they acquired it from family owners. After the removal of the Iceberg, called Meteorite in it's final 5 years, Dorney Park no longer had any "dark rides" between 1994-1998 until HalloWeekends came along. There are a couple of websites showing the old Dorney rides of the past, like www.ridezone.com and www.laffinthedark.com Cedar Point also removed an old dark ride called the Pirate Ride in 97. I rode it two years before. It was by the Blue Streak. Well, good luck with the RCT3 Dorney Park! Oh, the Tilt-A-Whirl ride and a Musik Express-type ride and the giant Ferris Wheel are in Wild, so those rides could be added in later. Almost every flat ride Dorney has now is in RCT3. And if I was making Dorney Park I'd get creative and break away from reality and build a ride like a ride through haunted mansion which Dorney doesn't have but used to a long time ago. In fact I made a recreation of it, just the ride itself in RCT3 sort of as a memorial to it, it was a pirate-themed ride called Bucket O' Blood and it burned in Sept. 1983 when the original carousel burned. Today, since 84 the Musik Express has been on the spot where the dark ride was. If you want to see whet the real dark ride looked like, look at the article at laffinthedark.

02-07-2006, 07:16 AM
When will the park be finished? Can't wait to see it! Would we be able to download it??

02-07-2006, 08:02 AM
Very nicely done. Can't wait until I see the completed park.

03-20-2006, 08:30 PM
I think i might make my own Dorney park.

03-20-2006, 10:18 PM
I think Hydra Needs a little more fixin up, especially with the first drop and the first corkscrew.

03-21-2006, 04:07 PM
I use to go to Dorney Park all the time but unfortantly I haven't been there for a few years, but your recreation is looking pretty good... Keep up the good work..

Yes, a pointless ressurection from someone who seems to enjoy breaking the rules a bit.

04-24-2006, 12:14 AM
I am working on my own version of Dorney Park based on the current version. Mine will have the actual ride signs for most of the major rides using the billboards from Wild and will include Wildwater Kingdom. And I am using custom scenery for some of the buildings and the railings/fences from the Circus set because Dorney Park has metal fences just like that, with square poles going up and down like this- IIIIIII. Mine will probably be the most accurate recreation. I live 2 miles from Dorney Park so I know it well. I've been going to the park since the late 70's (I was born Jan 1974) and have seen it morph from a small picnic park to a major player ever since Cedar Fair took it over. I know one of the former owners, Bob Ott who ran the park from 1967 until 1985 when he retired. Then Harris Weinstein ran the park for seven years, during that time Wildwater Kingdom opened (1985) and Hercules (1989). Finally Cedar Fair bought the park in 1992 and started making changes in 1993 including old ride removals, new rides, etc. I have DP brochures from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Some I got on Ebay. I downloaded a Dorney Park RCT3 from here http://rctgrotto.coastergrotto.com/file.jsp?argId=161 but most of the coaster's layouts are just plain wrong! And the Zephyr train is going the wrong way, counter clockwise! It runs clockwise! And some rides are missing or wrong. Now, with Wild almost every flat ride that Dorney Park has is available in the game, including the Tilt-A-Whirl, Monster, Enterprise, Musik Express (use Thunder Bobs), Sea Dragon (Swinging Pirate Ship), Revolution, and so on. I will be using the most correct rides as possible. What I need are some midway games, skee-ball, and arcade games but I think there are some for download already. How about some Pepsi, M&M, and Aquafina machines?

04-29-2006, 09:54 PM
When is your version comeing out?

04-29-2006, 10:18 PM
hey people- this thread is dead. Stop posting in it, its just knocking good threads off of page 1.

Good job...

4 stars.

08-15-2006, 11:21 PM
that is hot how u did that

08-16-2006, 09:13 AM
thanks for bringing back an old topic

06-03-2008, 03:23 PM
Don't want to revive old threads, but here is my DP in RCT3. http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dprctos3.jpg and http://img110.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dprct2ko9.jpg I'm trying to make it as accurate as possible. I'm also including HAUNT attractions including the new Club Blood. I live 2 miles west of the park with my mom, younger brother (29, I'm 34) and her man friend of 14 years my father passed Mar 8 1986, and I've been going to the park since 1976 at age 2. I should know Dorney Park. You can clearly see the new ride Voodoo in my RCT shots. The park will have loads of custom billboard images. Excuse the unfinished areas, it's still a WIP. It will take me a while to finish this.

06-03-2008, 04:27 PM
if i can help with the layout i have pictures of it so you can create

06-03-2008, 10:05 PM
I'm using Windows Live satellite map to help me with the layout. I might also do Wildwater Kingdom, too. Steel Force was really hard to do, I started with a downloaded recreation and had to redo it to fit my park. I had to build the middle section on an angle so that it would go over to Thunder Creek Mountain and Hydra. And I built Thunderhawk's lift hill on an angle. Part of Talon is on an angle (the part returning to the station behind the midway buildings) to fit. The hills are there, but take a long time to do. Most of the flat rides are the same, except for Musik Express I used the Thunder Bobs, and Apollo the Aileron, (Apollo is really a Swing Up ride but Aileron is close enough) Meteor the Double Swinging Inverter, and for Zephyr I used a purple steam train since there's no diesel streamliner with a slanted front.
