I see the moel in that Hydra thread, and now to see it in RCT 3 it looks even better! I see some tiles arent covered, so we cant make totally different staions :D Downloading the preview as I type. Doesn't TTD has a station like this?

Now I have seen the video (which was extremly well made) I can actually say, WOAH!! You've included, generators and such, this is awesome! We can finally have realistic stations!! Looks like all that other scenery can be used on other things, as I could really use those arches for my studios, top notch work!

Wow. When you first started posting pics of this set I was excited, but I had no idea how flexible the set would be. Seriously, this thing can construct hundreds of different buildings and stations.

Excellent job! I'm anxiously awaiting the release!

Just so you know, stuk71, a place where aircraft are brought for repair and storage is called a HANGAR, while the things in your closet are called HANGERS.

Woah! I really like these! AWESOME WORK stuk71! I can't wait for the release! I like the video too! How did you build the structure without the cursor? And did you use FRAPS or did you do that 1 FPS?

live_the_thrill
08-02-2005, 09:19 PM
It was done by pictures, likr animation, he placed a piece, took a picture, placed another piece, took another picture, etc.

Oh! That makes sense now! Sorry for my being an idiot!

stuk71
08-03-2005, 04:32 AM
Correct live_the_thrill, It was done by using screenshots, like 'step' animation...and very time consuming! But the end result was worth it. The 'David Walsh' cheat was used alot for this. Imported with video clips and audio into the very simple Microsoft Movie Maker.

I have just finished a metal flooring tile which is perfect for raised coaster stations, especially inverted coasters.

Dude! You do know that you rock!? LoL this is going to be the best custom scenery yet. The little barrels or what ever, that were under the inverted coaster make it look way more realistic. They make it look like its for the pistons for the air gates and so on. Very very cool! When do you plan on releasing it???

stuk71
08-04-2005, 11:00 AM
I do plan to release this set this month, I am away this weekend though, so no work will be done at all. pretty much everything is final, apart form one roof piece which is proving to be a pain in A$$ where textureing is concerned.

Its alot of fun to play with. Actually turned out alot better than I had imagined it would...

updates and info. after the weekend.

FINISHED!

Thank you to everyone here and all the great comments - kept me working! - It was not all plain sailing - a couple of times it was down right frustrating and very time consuming - hopefully this will have paid off and you will enjoy the set.

It does take a little longer to get to grips with the building style compared to the stock themes in the game, as the parts that make up these Sheds/Hangars either overhang the RCT3 grid system or fall short of it, this might be a bit frustrating to some. I believe its because of this that an interesting look can be achieved with the set.

Expect it here in a few days, after some testing :)

You Rock! I love how you made it so you can put little roofs over the entrances and exits. The ones that come with the game are just plain ugly. How about you release it today! Nah jk you don't have to if you don't want to. But I'm sure the community would love to test them out for you. Since you said you had to test them.

Stuk's going through some final testing on the set to make sure there aren't any wierd bugs, bad textures, misalignments, etc left over.

It's much better to release a clean and polished version to the public, rather than having to update the pack and make them all reinstall it. (I'm guilty of that myself when I did those letters).

Patience is a good thing, and I'm sure he'll be releasing them soon.

stuk71
08-09-2005, 04:04 PM
Thank you very much and well said, Caffinated.

Sorry guys. It IS coming. I promise!

As I said before it is not as straight forward to use as the other themes in the game. There is a learning curve in getting parts to line up, I'm sure with bugs in there to the set would have been a complete headache [ I hope by adding pictures and the video. It would give some idea of what can done and how to use the various parts - how they can be fitted together, etc ]

I see testing as an important time - I have really enjoyed creating this set and learnt alot in the process too. I want it to be Perfect for you.

These pieces provide a whole new style to bring to our parks, while also including elements like the cross braces that can be used with regular RCT3 building blocks to add unique touches to a scene.

Excellent work! More  's to you! ;)

stuk71
08-11-2005, 08:21 AM
Thank you very much for all the positive feedback. :)

My aims were to make it quite different from the stock themes, but still be able to mix with them - and to keep the poly-count down to a minimum.

One thing I do wish it had was the ability to use the 'group deletion tool' as it can take time if you need to delete elaborate framework and panels. I toyed with collision detection [flag 33] But as you can see, some of the parts share the same grid space ie. frames and roofs, so that didnt work out too well at all, also not being able to put a path or coaster through the supports would have been a let down too.

There are a couple added bonuses with this set.

1) The arch of the full hangar (Steep - Cap - Steep) matches very nicly with Klinn's Large Arch. It's almost the exact same curve, and it is the same width and height.

2) The "Banner Supports" are also aligned perfectly to throw my Standalone letters right on top of them. While you can only fit 2 letters per support, this can make signing a coaster a little more flexible as well.

I said it before, but again, excellent job on this one Stuk :) I love these pieces to pieces :).

Now we can make sorta 'barrel vaults' that a coaster runs through, framed at either end (and intermediate points) by the arches. I'll have to try this tonight.

Edit: Nice sample, Stuk! Feel like making some brick-texture "roofs"? :)

In-game, when you place them on a path the piece turns red since it can't be located there, but you wouldn't want them floating up in the air anyway. Instead, Shift-move it down one notch so the game thinks it's under the path, but in reality you've placed in the proper spot. Kind of an awkward 'solution' and not the most intuitive action, but all I can think of right for now. (other than using Soaked's new cheat)

Stuk, what would go very nice with using the pieces for a Railway Station would be some bits to make a workmans hut or a signal box - wall with a door, wall with long windows and a flat tin roof. Would that be possible?

If you have the zipped version you will need to upzip it first, say to your desktop.

This will produce one file, which is a .exe file called stuk71_hangar51 that is the installer all that remains is to double click on that file and follow the instructions....just as you would installing any software. nothing else needs to be done, you wont have to go through your PC file system looking somewhere to put it.

Any problems come back here, I and many others will be happy to help

Freakout, sounds as though your initial installation of RCT3 was not in the default folder: try this...Hopefully you are using Windows XP

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2379/windows5ze.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

1. Left click the 'Start' menu and then left click 'Search'

2. Left click 'All files and folders' in the menu

3. Search for 'Themed'

4. A list of files/folders should come up in the window - search and look for the one that has 'Atari\Rollercoaster Tycoon 3\Style\Themed' in its title

5. Double Left click on the folder icon next to it. In the small window [circled in picture 5] you will see the correct path for this folder. you can then highlight the complete path [left click], copy[Ctrl C] and then paste[Ctrl V] this path into the installer program for Hangar51 when it asks for the folder path string.

Your version of XP may look different and the search for themed may find different folders - If RCT3 is installed on your PC - then it will be there

SK-Hangar 51 has not been totally installed because of the following reason:

Can not create the following file: C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3\Style\Themed\SK-Hangar 51\SK-Hangar 51\Banner.common.$$A

Im still getting this message after a few times of trying it.

Hi TwisterII, This does not sound right at all. I am assuming that a file has got corrupted in transfer, did you download from this thread?

Maybe you have tried this, but I'll go over it anyway.

1. Do you know where you Atari\Rollercoaster Tycoon 3\Style\Themed folder is..? If so, open it and delete any folders of 'SK-Hangar51'

2. Download from either link at the head of this thread. 'Download Site 1' is a zip file containing the .exe file, 'Download Site 2' is the straight .exe file.

I am guessing that some of the files have been corrupted in the transfer download - as Banner.common.$$A is not a valid file name, It should be Banner.common.ovl

3. If the path to your RCT3 install is C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3\Style\Themed the installer will place it in the correct place.

I really do hope this will work - I can imagine it is frustrating. If still no luck with this. I suggest you PM me your email address - I will send you a zipped version of the files you need. Which you can place manually into C:\Prog.......\Themed.

Jonwills Importer program is a stand-alone program, which does not need RCT3 to run.

Unzip it [jonwills Importer Tool] to your hard-drive, say 'program-files' or even your desktop. I believe you should have a folder called 'RCT3 Tool' inside containing a few different type of files.... look for 'RCT3 Tool.exe.' this is the aplication file, double left click on this to start up jonwills stand-alone importer program...Now to use it is a different story - But I found EVERYTHING I needed to know to build Hangar51 in this thread (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=460482)

Hope this helps

lee2by4 - I do understand you are very new here and to RCT3.

My advice to you as a new member would be to read/scan through a few posts/threads to get the general idea of how things work around here before making your own posts/threads.

Please be aware of the forum rules which are posted as 'stickies', at the head of each forum, labeled 'Attention:'
You can find general discussion rules here (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=425889) and Exchange Forum rules can be found here (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=482369)

This thread was started a while ago for the sole purpose of promoting and for the distribution of the Hangar51 custom-set. A place where the set could be discussed and any problems sorted out.

Think of these boards like a fantastic ride attraction that only slows down momentarily for you to get on... you will need to learn the cycle before you can jump onboard. There alot of great people riding - but no-one likes getting their toes stepped on - Have fun and take your time - ;)

Sounds good larry241 I do want to revisit Hangar51 again. It has been interesting to see how people have been using it, I have a few ideas of what can be done to improve it - though i have absolutely no time scale on this at all, crazy work just now and off on holidays in a couple of weeks too.

things I am interested in designing:

Doorways
Skylight/windows
Corner frame work/roofs [though i can see that could be a texturing headache to match up the wood paneling....]
Clean poles, no footers,

I have also been scratching my head thinking about a couple of other 'station' odds and ends to go with, match up with the Fuel tank and generator#

[i]<<edit>> metal side panels to go with the current front panels

What ever happens it will appear here....some time ;)

How about curved supports + covering, or maybe new fences with chicken wire and maybe barbed wire at the top, that would fit in.

You're working on some great stuff.
I don't care for the fans. Good parks try not to show stuff like this; I mean the real parks. Yeah, it adds realism, I just think effort should be placed on "real" stuff for rides, wall types, and scenery, not air conditioners and fans. Like this guy's doing - http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=7028819#post7028819

Each to there own...

If everything was the same out there, then there would be no style. I like the deconstructed, bare bones look, [I'm sure I'm not the only one] it has its place.

After seeing how the fuel tank and generator were well received I thought I would produce some more items - the picture was just a preview. I have been working on full walls, with doors etc too

The footers stick out too much, so when you stack them it looks stupid.

Could you add walls then which are in the same shape as the arches, so we can fill in the sides and not leave them blank?

n747 and Sawyer, it may of been rude, but it is what I thought, why would I lie, he has now improved them for the better, so let it rest, besides it is old news, and please dont spam this thread anymore about it.

Stuk .....I like the fans .I don't think I would use em on a ride par se but I definately would use em for other details .Little things like that just add more realism to otherwise plain looking buildings.

As far as I am aware, this custom set does work for most people with Wild!

For the planned update, I would make sure it all works for Wild! [please be aware I have no time scale on this as yet]

The set does work with Wild......the game will tell you if it doesn't........load a game with the pack if you have already used it and see what happens....better yet just put some pieces down on a new sandbox and test on your comp......it works..don't be afraid to try it , whats the worst that can happen ? Losing what you didn't save ?

Hey Stuk ....I would love to see those generator fans in the next update

Stuk, i have a suggestion for the new update. How about a glass-like roof cover? It would be cool to build monorail statoins with a glass roof.

I like the idea of a new glass roof covering too, possibly with a new style curved sides. I am looking forward to updateing this pack

Actually, I'd almost give an arm and a leg to have some solid and glass infill panels. From either this set or the sci-fi.

Hi commissioner, Thanks for your interest. I would hope to update and extend this pak. But... do not have access to my PC...It's been too long now, and I will have to wait at least another month. No RCT3 for me :(

I don't have a date to give you on when this could happen - but it is on my list of things todo. Very much enjoyed making up Hangar51 and using it. Look forward to making new parts and extending the life of that fantastic game.

Cheers

This looks fantastic but i cannot seem to install. My RCT3 is on a different partition without internet. Is there a way to download this like most of the others with the .ovl files and without the auto-installer?
Or maybe I could 'change the installer'?
Little help?

Moby, I suggest going for HGR71 instead of Hangar51 It includes everything you see on this thread and much. Also I have a link for a folder containing just the .OVL files you speak of.

This set is not obsolete if you want to view parks that have used its pieces. It is obsolete if you want to use it yourself, though.

And there is a download link available, just check the complete list of custom scenery for that.
