Hey.... It's been a while since I posted shots of projects I've been working on so here we go..........yes, another park to add to my many unfinished parks pile. It's getting big.
But, this project really started to flow and I tried to capture it's progress in screenshots but I'm afraid I didn't do such a great job. Well, here's what I got so far.
Hope everyone enjoys.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31156001-M.jpg
Construction began on The Ledges Hotel despite the down pour.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31156003-M.jpg
The color scheme changes constantly, I can never make up my mind. Even the mountains keep changing color. In this shot they are green.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31156006-M.jpg
Brown in this shot.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31156010-M.jpg
Voooaaala! We have a pool and a coaster. The coaster is a lim launch racer and is called Dragon Fly. Dragon Fly launches up the side of hotel.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31155999-M.jpg
Aquariums occupy the fourth floor of this world class hotel. Aquariums are still being scaped.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31155260-M.jpg
Inside The Ledges Hotel Aquariums. Early previews give guest a sneek peek at whats to come.
http://doppio.smugmug.com/photos/31156000-M.jpg
As with everything else, Dragon Fly's colors keep changing too.

I will have more in a little bit.

CV your back!!! I'm so happy!!! :D

Dude, this park is absolutely gorgeous, as we've come to expect from you :).

The Ledges Hotel is such a site to look at. It's very tropical. It looks like a modernized Mayan temple! I love how you encorperated the racing coasters into the Hotel, with the lifts hugging the sleek curve of the Hotel. The aquarium inside the hotel reminds me of the Atlantis hotel in the Bahamas.

I just don't know how your head could always be so full of ideas. My creative juices have been running on empty lately. I wish I had your imagination :p.

Anyways, it's GREAT to have you back. Can't wait for more updates.

Welcome back, CV! We missed you!

I absolutely LOVE the look of that hotel... that's one I'd want to stay at... as long as they didn't start the morning test runs of Dragonfly too early... :haha: I'm NOT a morning person! :D

Excellent idea incorporating the aquariums into the hotel... I never would have thought of that. I honestly took one look at those aquariums when I first got soaked, went "Enh, I'll never use those!" and packed them away to never see the light of my moniter again. Again, that's what I love about your parks, you challenge all of us to take another look at what building blocks we have.

Again.. it's great to have ya back!

This, my friend, is why this entire community looks up to you.

The detail is enormous. You make sure that nothing ever looks plain. If there's an empty space, you fill it.

It's like everything you place is ment to be there. Every lump in the terrain was placed on purpose, every tree was ment to be in that exact spot. I'm dazed by your talents.

I also love how at night, the green glow of the trains resembles an insect, a dragonfly.

[edit] Woah! So may more screenshots have been added while I was typing! I'm in heaven!!!!

Cool! Looks like I'm not the only one who digs trees down to form bushes :D. The yellow tree was a good choice, fits in beautifully with the surroundings. I can't wait to see more of Cicada. I know it'll be stupendous!

Now what everyone is saying about the train size, it would make the coaster more realistic, however, when are CV's park ever realistic? CV's parks seem to always be very fantasy-like and imaginative. Their like dream worlds. No need for him to be realistic. :p

You've got a gift when it comes to realitic terraforming. All the terraforming in this park looks so incredibly natural and real. Does this ability come naturally or do you like study real photos of mountains and such to understand how to simulate it as naturally as possible? Not only do you sculpt the land beautifully but you paint it so perfectly too. You blend the perfect textures together and create such a realistic look.

It's pure magic.

The best thing about it is because it uses alot of terrain buildings, theres not alot of lag:D . Very cool, is their any tuts on how to do the curved terrain? Also your not arrogant about your parks, like some people would get.

Those structures are just amazing. That tower is incredible. I love all of the floors and glass.
The one thing I've never seen in your parks though...peeps.
I bet they wouldn't have the same reactions. They'd probably whine about how there's not enough restrooms and how tired they are walking between rides.
Ha!
Keep it up!
Thanks

Pull scenery up to ground level.

I started using terrain as scenery while building Adventure Kingdom II, my fourth park. I wanted to avoid lag, figuring that the more land I used instead of scenery pieces....., the better the performance on my game.
It worked!
So lag forced me to think differently about this game.

To do the curved terrain, you use the single-tile terrain tool and raise the edges and corners of the tiles to make a smooth curve.

Oh yeah, here's a link to my Disneyland's 50th Celebration pictorial. I should have thought about posting a trip report here. I love Disneyland. Not Walt Disney World, just Disneyland. The park Walt built. We got up at 2:00 am on July 17th to get into that park. Oh my Lord, there were over 10,000 people waiting to get into Disneyland by 3:00 am. Just plain craziness but I would not have missed it for the death of me. It was friggin' awesome and so surreal. By 5:00 am all us crazy nuts had filled Disney's California Adventure to the gills. The crowd control was amazing, Disney always knows what they are doing and this was no exception. Like I said before....amazing. A thousand or more castmember lined Main Street that morning to greet us and welcome us home. Very overwhelming and it made my Mom cry. It made me cry seeing her cry and before you know it...all eight of us were crying. I guess you had to be there, I don't know, but it was truly magical.
Space Mountain is even better than before.

CV: All your work is truly original and unique! Your ideas and methods for creating details areas of your park using simple items are truly insperational. I love how you use the metal pathways as shadding for your gathering areas!

I'm new to the community and am still learning the ropes as far as park creation. I have played alittle with terran-shapping like what you do with your park and I must say you have alot of patience to be able to shape the land like that!

One question though...do you build the cue-lines and stations for your rides underground? How do you accomplish this? Build the ride then raise up the ground over it or do you use the ground blocks that came with soaked? One thing I have learned to love is messing with the terran and trying to make it look natural, and if I could master how to build up the land over my rides more and make it seamless like yours are I think I could really make something spectaculer!

I LOVE it! It's so creative and unique and refreshing! Gosh, it's just so wonderful! I can't wait to DL this park!!!

im sure the only difference between me you him and everyone else is patience, he'll spend days on one little bit of his park, and in that time, we have made a whole park. It is still stunning though. Still havent figure how to do those curves in the land yet though .
Are you kidding me? What impresses me the most is how FAST he works. Not particularly with this park, but he's had to rebuild both Oceania and Adventure Kingdom 2, and did so very quickly! He rebuilt Oceania and then some in a matter of a few days. I was in shock because he was able to make something so out-of-this-world so quickly.

Anyways, can't wait for more CV :D Keep up the awe-inspiring work!

Circle. You can make a parking lot look astonashing. You are the single best person at making "fantasy parks" if not all parks. You are a master and I think if any of us have the honor to become sombody in the theme park industry. Wheather it be Imagineer or Coaster Designer or anything. It would definatly be you. I can guarentee you that if you can keep using your imagination and continue to just astound and astonish us with your work. You can really get somwhere when you grow up if you havnt already grown up.....

I havent posted in this thread for some time, but I think this is the most creative park here, but not the most realisitic. I normally dont like fantasy parks, but I love yours, I mean you dont have rides sticking out everywhere, things looking out of place, all of yours blends, and the use of terrain instead of scenery is just pure brillant. It looks so smooth, I love the entrance, looks like an updated IOA.

I'll either finish or restart all my parks currently under construction. I miss Rivers End, I think I'll jump back into that one after I finish Port Discovery. For some reason Port Adventure has performance issues, although I really haven't loaded it since I tweaked my computer. Maybe lag is no longer an issues. Then there's World Exposition, Electric Island, Tilted Gardens, Big City Adventure and, and, and.................Argh! See what I mean by AADD. I know I have it. ;)

Oh yeah, about Port Discovery's theme? It's a blending of Oceans and Insects. Sorta weird, I know. Kinda of like a hybrid zoo/discovery/learning center with some themed thrills blended in to convey the story.

I do have to respectfully disagree when you say my park is not realistic......all my parks, minus Oceania, could easily be built in reality, when you compare them to actual Disney parks, they built an enormous castle on swamp lands, a man-made volcano built on a man-made island, a scale model of Mount Everest and so on. These are all outrageous ideas and fantasies, but they all became reality.

I agree with you. This park could be built in RL, but maybe with the exception of the underwater tunnels on Dragonfly...well at least how you made them in this park. Anaconda at Paramount's King's Dominion has an underwater tunnel, however, it's not exactly underwater. It's more like a hole in the lake built with concrete walls that the coaster dips into then pops back out. Here's a pic:
http://img316.imageshack.us/img316/9976/anaconda15ca.jpg
But who knows, maybe true underwater tunnels are possible. I don't see any reason why they couldn't. Disney could probably pull it off ;)

Creating an edgeless pool effect all the way around the entrance/exit tunnels could be achieved. The water would just lap over the edge, into grates or drains.

Ya know Maddack, I just do this for fun, I've said it before.....I'm not looking for a pissing contest. They'll be ready when they are ready.
Yes, I agree, just flashy scenery alone doesn't make a park.......having just a bunch of rides alone doesn't work either. Look at Six Flags. They are bankrupt and haven't made money in years.

Milkdud

Yeah right! CV you can make a park with nothing but scenery and I'll love it just the same . Do you think I look at you track layouts or ride designs? No! I just look at all the beautiful scenery! The rides are just a bonus :D.

But, all these coasters in this park look a hell of a lotta fun! I want to ride them so bad! You should look into making a video :) That would make my day!

Love the update, everything is looking great CV. If you get a chance can you answer my question from my ealier post?

BTW: I am a firm believer that most of the parks here can be built (EDIT: in real life) with a little creativity and ALOT of money! (I'm sure some of the more crazy ones would pose problems :) )

I think when most people say "realistic" they are meaning that you don't have to be Bill Gates to make it.

What I mean is that this park COULD be built in real life. BUT, do you know how many billions, nay, trillions would have to be put into it? So technically, it IS realistic, but it isn't likely that it would actually be built in real life.

But great park by the way. :)

I am a bit of a quiet person on these forums, but when I look at your work, I feel as though I am required to say something.

I honestly, can not put my awe into words. You are able to do work in RCT, a video game, which is 100% comparable to the worlds most famous architects.

The wall girder and a few of the other non solid walls (such as the porch railings in the western set) cannot be placed on the same tile as a path, even with the M Brookes cheat.

The sad thing is that these are the walls I want to use on the same tile as path for my queues.

If Buckminster Fuller, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Howard Hughes were ever reincarnated together, the resulting soul would be Circlevision....

I dunno bout that but FLW is a personal favorite of mine and I did a art deco poster of Hughes that I haven't had prints done from yet.

Interesting notion about FLW, check this out see what you think of it compared to what CV does. http://www.arch.columbia.edu/DDL/projects/usonia/

And BTW yes this is a great bit of artwork CV. I always look at your parks like I would a painting or a sculpture and while I agree they could be built in reality if somenone took the notion to do it it really has an air of sci fi fantasy art or futurism that leans more toward fantasy that pure ralism.

One of the wonderful thigns about RCT is the differnt ways the same tools can be used to come up with countless unique creations.
