After viewing some of the impressive work people have already done, I thought I'd post some of my Magic Kingdom shots. I've gotta take more pictures of the park, but here is a side view of the castle with part of Space Mountain. As you can see in this picture I really only did work in Tomorrowland, while now most of the park is complete (more pictures to come later).
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Castle1.jpg

I have videos, but i really don't know how to add sound and compress them (the Splash Mountain video is aroudn 200 mb).

You are gonna theme up tomorrowland...right? Right now it looks like you just placed a bunch of flat rides with no scenery however (besides space mountain)

RSoxNo1

I really haven't done much in the way of extra buildings and stuff. The framerate is already pretty low as it is. I have however added more stuff to Tomorrowland as you can see in this park overview.
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Park1.jpg

In the bottom left we have Space Mountain, which will be redone now that I've downloaded the dark ride set. Partly off screen on the left side is Jungle Cruise, which will be aided immensely by Wild! Next to that is Pirates of the Carabbean... pictures of that will be added shortly. Going around the park edge, next we have Indiana Jones, River of Doom. I wanted to add an Indy ride, and I hadn't used the new rapid ride so I opted for this approach. My guess is after Space Mountain is re-done, I will enclose this more so the bazaar/walk way from Adventureland to Fronteirland (the one with all the blown glass and things of that nature) will actually be underneath part of the Indy ride. Splash Mountain is next (pictures below). And then next to that is Thunder Mountain (pictures below). The smallish building in front of Thunder Mountain is a make shift Haunted Mansion. Thunder and Splash were really the only rides that I tried to rigidly stick to the ride layouts, I did loosely for the others.
The gray mountain on the right side of the screen is Fire Mountain. It's an attraction that had been rumored to fill the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea area. The idea has been relatively dormant (unlike the volcano I topped it with), but I thought it would be fun to do considering the new fire effects. I'll post pictures of this as well. Lastly, the building to the Right of that is an overhead tram ride I turned into Peter Pan, I really dislike the ride vehicle, but I couldn't think of a better one to use.

It looks good.... I like the splash mountain alot... (maybe you can cut frame rates by destroying the building of SM and use terrain to make it go via tunnels....just shape the surface terrain... just a suggestion...

BTW do you a haunted mansion.... i would like to see it!! (i love dark rides :) )

RSoxNo1
08-17-2005, 03:32 AM
I really like what I did with Space Mountain, so I wont' be getting rid of it. I will however be taking the roof off so I can make it dark inside. I made a haunted Mansion, but it's more or less a slow moving ride with spooky scenery and the Haunted Mansion song. Slight delay in uploading more pictures... Pirates, Tomorrowland and Fire Mountain to come...

it was just a suggestion to cut frame rates :)
do you have indiana jones? i love that ride (if this is the DC MK)

Pirates was the first detailed ride I built with Soaked. Most of the interior walls are terrain (the ride is sunken). On the right is the Stone wall with Cannons that's immediately after the drop. Off screen is a Pirate ship with the village approaching straight ahead

http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Pirates1.jpg

Another shot of the village.
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Pirates2.jpg

In theory... the 3 guys singing and a donkey... in reality a horse and some guys with swords.
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Pirates3.jpg

The burning village looks much better in the game, I'll have to get another picture of it.

These will be the last photos of the night, which should be fine considering nobody is up at this ungodly hour except maybe the occasional vampire.

Here is the top of Fire Mountain... If someone can explain to me how to cut down video size and add music I'll post my Fire and Splash Mountain videos.
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Fire1.jpg

The beast of Fire Mountain (unofficial title... slightly better than the weird Red Dragon thing). I'm probably going to be changing that curve to a 45 degree angle as opposed to the 90 degree perpendicular curve
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Fire2.jpg

Tommorowland underneath Rocket Tower Plaza... and Yes, those are cables for the old Skyway...
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Tomorrowland1.jpg

The Camp scene of Jungle Cruise... this ride has been set up so that Elephants, Gorillas and other animals can be placed in very easily.
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Jungle1.jpg

Exterior of Space Mountain... I really can't get a good shot inside where the arcade is. Is their a code to enter "Peep Mode?"
http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/Space1.jpg

I had a version of Indiana Jones using the Monster Trucks in an old park (I actually put it in a Universal Studios Park). In this version because it's modeled after Florida's Magic Kingdom I decided to make my own Indy Rapid Ride. I mention it in the picture that has the whole park in it.

Well, so far its only an OK from me, Your buildings look to block and the park looks unrealistic, no i know your new (i think). But it does need work. Coloring and blending terrain. Varyation of vegitaion (Splash Mountian!) and there are other touches that give it the disney feel.

Checkout Brotherbones Disneyland, and JASaxman_cm Disney parks.

You get a 100% for effort and creativity, it looks great for the skilld that you have, and i guess for me i dont like it cause of what others have, It will take somework but i know you can do it.

Sorry to be a downer.

I'm adding more scenery and buildings around tomorrowland. If anyone has any good mainstreet pictures for me to go off of i'll rebuild that... but i'm working on rebuilding Space Mountain right now.

RSoxNo1
08-18-2005, 04:16 AM
I rebuilt Space Mountain (And also made a bit of a station for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority) I don't want to add too many extra buildings because it slows the game down tremendously. Space Mountain is taller now. I did this so that I could fully enclose the main room of the ride in a black box. Below are 11 pictures of the new ride. Again, if someone could post help for condensing videos and adding sound it would be greatly appreciated.

Use windows movie maker to make videos. you can import music right into it. it should me in the start menu under programs then accesories and somewhere in there. they upload them to a site like rapidshare.de... Also to get custom scenery just search for it at the botom of the forum...
and btw to get into peep cam just rename a guest jonny watts...

It looks quite good.
However a little unrealistic.
Space Mountain,Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain
are all brilliant but other parts of the park
arent so good.

In my opinion, I think you have completely butchered Disneyland and all that it stands for.

There is almost no themeing in the exterior of the park. Just a bunch of rides and stalls. Disneyland is not a park like Cedar Point, where you can just plop down some rides and stalls and it'll be a recreation. You have to use plenty of walls to hide the stalls, and use as much scenery as possible. And where are the trees?

On to this "fire mountain". I don't think that Disneyland would do anything like that. It looks extremely unrealistic and way to intense to be a disney ride.

But I guess I'm way to much of a Disneyland fan, so I really scrutinize all of the Disneyland recreations.

My God, calm down. You butchered a post that could have been a good piece of advice but since you think it's awful why don't you just not post in this thread anymore. You are not a Disneyland fan, you are an obsessed Disneyland fan, this person isn't even done the park yet and you trash it. Go make a useful post elsewhere.

Anyways to get back on the real topic. I think you did a good job. I think your Splash Mountain looks very nice and your Space Mountain isn't exactly what it is on the outside but you made it original. Plus it's hard to get scenery like that for Space Mountain. I think your Fire Mountain is also very well done, I can see it fitting in Disneyland, I wouldn't find it any scarier than Toad's Wild Ride and Snow White. I'm sure you will add more trees and detail when your done the bulk of the park and I'm sure the lag would be awful too. Don't let these trash talkers have an effect because I'm sure the only Magic Kingdom they would be satisfied with, is the real one in Florida or in Anaheim. Good Job!

that was really constructive critsism, ive never been to a disney park before, but ive seen some of the disney recreations, and they are stunning, but i think you problem is that you rush things, people spend as much time on one ride, as you probaly do on your park, i know simbolism use to take 5 hours theming one ride in his parks, and they are some of the best park i have ever seen, my advice, take your time, and keep practising:D .

I agree with YNH, it is bare, the terraining just looks way off, lack of scenery, etc. Work more on it, it is Disney, not Flamingo Land (or whatever it is). Also what is up with the castle, when did it become blue:confused:

Wow... i'm really torn a new one on here... lol.

I've looked for in depth maps, but most of the extra building construction really slows down my game. I tried to focus more on the rides, but with a lack of custom scenery I really can't do a lot. Splash Mountain took me quite a bit of time. I re-did space mountain in about 5 hours, but that's largely because I hadn't used the dark ride set in an area that big and I really wasn't used to having now seams to differentiate between walls and ceilings. I appreciate constructive criticism, but I made the park initially with no intention of doing all the buildings and such... However, after perusing these forums and seeing the amazing recreations (especially the MGM Studios recreations), I'll be going back to refine the park even further.

To me, the rides are the biggest things in game. I'm a huge disney fan and I appreciate the tremendous themeing and attention to detail in all the parks so it's not like i'm batting a blind eye at them. But my initial contention was that rather than constructing a bakery to house the Cookie and Ice Cream Stands, I can just place the stands and work on the rides. Now that I've seen what people have done with "simple" mainstreet usa recreations I'm tempted to try my hand at it as well. I'm tempted to re-do my Indiana Jones ride before anything else, but seeing as I have room around the Main street area if I can get a nice map to use as a guide I'll work on that.

Perhaps RSoxNo1's worried that too much detail will effect the fps and if he puts too much scenery in he either wont be able to finish it or people wont download it because of the fps

RSoxNo1
08-24-2005, 12:11 PM
I haven't put the park up for download yet. I redid the castle so it has the carrabean adventure stone (instead of blue brick) and blue spires instead of yellow.

I have an Athlon Radeon 9600 card and a 1.6 ghz processor and the park lags. I fear that if I add too much more the only way to experience the rides will be through things like the video that I made.

I really hope that Wild! brings sound to the videos because the onboard music that I've placed in my main attractions really works well (Pirates of the Carabbean, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion)

RSoxNo1
08-24-2005, 12:42 PM
Right now, while navigating the park my FPS rarely gets higher than 6.9. When I'm on a ride it's around 4.9.

I haven't really tested it before this, but I'm gonna see what I can do in terms of eliminating programs that might not show up on the start bar, but are still running the background.

It's just annoying when I see that other people are having FPS rates much higher than that and my computer should be more than capable of handling this. I can only imagine how some older computers handle this game.

RSoxNo1
08-24-2005, 09:04 PM
Does anyone have any tips to improve my FPS?

RSoxNo1
08-27-2005, 10:26 AM
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective), I accidentally saved over this park and lost everything. I'm starting over from scratch in hopes that by the time I'm remotely finished Wild! will be released and my frame rate problems will be a thing of the past. I'm trying to do all the buildings as people have requested, but in many cases I need a bunch of pictures. If anyone is willing to help I'm starting from the beginning of the park so any pictures of main street, city hall, the train station, and what have you would be greatly appreciated to get me going on the right track. I'm modeling this after DisneyWorld's Magic Kingdom. Although it's a little ways down the road, if a mod is capable of making a Gigantic Tree for the Tree of Life, I'll be making an Animal Kingdom recreation when Wild! comes out.

It looks bare.. maybe some landscaping and theeming here and there.... I'm not an expert but, I try. I still have trouble but practice, you'll get better. Maybe some lights inside space mountain. So it gives off a cool effect a night? That's just my 2 cents.

Disney World's Magic Kingdom is in Florida. That's what it's modeled after, but as you can see in the previous thread, I saved over the park so it's lost forever. I'm rebuilding from scratch so I'm looking for photos of main street. I just did the train station:

The photo above was meant to be City Hall, but I think I may have screwed up the placement of it. I think when you ented the park City hall is on your left then the character greet place, then the fire house, then the door for the parade. I think Exposition hall is on the right. If anyone has any wide angle shots of this town center area I'd appreciate it.

RSoxNo1

Ok... I moved the City Hall to the opposite side (but actually kept the one on the other side as well... I may use a similiar layout for Exposition Hall). I would really appreciate any shots that show buildings in relation to other things in the park, so if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it:

lol j/k...can't wait to see more :)

RSoxNo1
08-28-2005, 03:29 AM
Someone else is doing a Matterhorn recreation that will undoubtedly trump anything I could do. My old Splash Mountain was the best ride i've built... the video is in this thread on page 2.

As for Indy... I made an Indy rapid ride, just because I've only been on the real Rover vehicle twice and don't remember it much at all.

By the time I get to building any rides Wild! will likely be out. The plan is to build Mainstreet up to the castle, then work my way around the perimiter, Crystal Palace, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Pecos, Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain. I've got my old Thunder Mountain template, and Splash, although difficult to do, has been done by myself before. It's just a matter of getting to that point. I'm going to DisneyWorld in November and I could take all the pictures I need, but I'd like to get the bulk of the scenery done before then.

Below is another picture of City Hall. The character meet and greet has a few entertainers in it, and the green brick room is meant to be the offstage area, as is the wall next to it. Perpendicular to this will be the fire station, the barber shop and then the emporium on the corner. I would really appreciate a good picture of this.

http://members.aol.com/rsoxno1/Kingdom/New/CityHall3.jpg

Also... if anyone has an American Flag that I can download, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi RsoxNo1,
I've been following this thread. Your skills have improved quite wonderfully. It looks like you're really picking up ideas quickly.
Although, I like what you're doing, I'm afraid it's not accurate.
It doesn't matter to me; it's not my park. But if that's what your trying to do, download some pictures of MK and print them out while you're working it. It really helps. Your train station is not right. I know how difficult it is to use what was given to us, but I've seen more accurate recreations done. Also, the barber shop is located right next to that white glass tower you made by the fire station, next door to the gift shop. I know, that's where my daughter got her first hair cut and where I waited an hour.
I always recommend people not to make recreations unless they are okay with tough criticism. Original ideas don't get the scrutiny a recreation will.
Good luck and keep up the great building.
Thanks!

Nara Dreamland is a japanese park, which is a really cheap and nasty version of Disneyland (no offence) and was once described bye Rob Alvey (i think it was him) of www.themeparkreview.com as "Disney's Ghetto Land"

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I've tried to adapt things a bit, to fit the game. I like the office walls set, so I've used those in areas where it's not entirely accurate (City Hall, the facade next to the confectionary, etc). I actually do have the barber shop tucked in next to the glass tower thing, I'll have to put up a sign to indicate what it is/resemble the barber poll.

As for the train station, with the lack of diagonal wall pieces (save the atlantis design) I can't really cover the back stairs very well. To me, that's the biggest structural difference, I'm aware of the others (The towers for example are obviously different).

Finally, not to get all defensive. My original park shouldn't have been placed in the special olympics category. Splash Mountain for example was as good as any other one I've seen, especially the interior. I just didn't concentrate on buildings that much/at all. Then I saw what people were doing on here and thought... hmmm... I could probably do something like that as well.

I feel bad now, that I rated this park with a low rating, if only I knew what you were capable of, I wouldnt of been so harsh on you. Sorry pal:up:

It's been a few days, but I've done some more work on the East side of Main Street

The light brown building with the overhang is the Main Street Cinema. I've sunken the 3D Theater so that it will fit comfortably under the roof.

At the end of the strip is the Uptown Jewelers

Good work. Ignore the haters.

However you really should consider downloading the Pumper's Dark Ride custom object set. Their black walls would go much better in the PotC ride. Would also come in very handy when you work on the graveyard on the Haunted Mansion ride.

mike... all the rides that you see are gone. I accidentally saved over that version of the game. I have the dark ride set (as you can see in the Space Mountain photos). I just don't know if their is other Disney custom scenery available. I've searched for it and havent' been able to find anything.

I as originally planning on working over to Adventureland first, but since Wild! won't be out when I get over there, it doesn't make sense to build Jungle Cruise w/o animals. I'm going to build up to the castle and then be forced to adapt the perimeter of the park because of size constraints. Space Mountain will likely be the first big attraction I build (re-build). The exterior will probably be identical to the pictures I've posted of the old one. I saw a version where someone had made the stars going all over the place... if someone can find that for me or point me in the right direction I'll put that in my version as well.

I've added a little on to Main Street. I'm already sensing that I'll be running low on space here, so I may cut out a few buildings in the last block. Also, because of space (I only have about 30 tiles to the right of main street) I'm going to be moving Space Mountain from the right side of the park to the bottom right corner where it's 25x25 tile area is less intrusive to the rest of the park. You can see in the second picture where I have sunken Space Mountain. The exterior of the ride will be virtually identical to my old one, unless of course someone has done a better job in creating walls for space mountain.

Haven't done much work on this lately because I've been busy. I'll try to put space mountain up soon and then I'll see where people want me to go next. Suggestions are more than welcome.

Why not try and remodel the castle with MaxDC custom scenery pack version 3

Have you downloaded the file?
Do you have RAR?
If no RAR then you can download it from Winrar.

Let me know.

The file you extracted, did you just extract the exe from the rar into the game?

If so, you need to cut/paste it from the Style/Themed folder to your desktop or someplace that's easy to find & then double click on the exe file (I believe) to extract it into your game. I don't know what program MaxDC used to make the exe with to give you exact directions on this.

I opened the exe file, and it asked for a destination folder... i used:

C\program files\atari\roller coaster tycoon 3\style\themed\

When you say you can't find the file.
Do you mean actually in 'my computer' or or you can't find the tab within the game???

RSoxNo1

Both... the tab isn't in game, and I can't find a folder that says something to the effect of: MaxDCSet

I'm putting the Magic Kingdom on hold in favor of a new park for Wild! called Animalia. The park is 200x200 as opposed to the normal 128x128 templates in sandbox mode. I felt this would be necessary due to the amount of large attractions I have planned. I've done quite a bit of work on the parks 8.4 excitement roller coaster. It's Dinosaur themed and called Costa Saurus. It begins with a slow crawl through a mountain into the time travel chamber. In the chamber, lasers, fog effects and a double barrell roll simulate going back in time as guests barrell through the tropical rainforest, swirving to hit waterfalls. Guests than decend up a hill where a T Rex awaits them as they narrowly miss getting eaten alive. With only the three dino animatronics currently the remainder of the attraction's theming is relatively unresolved, but does include two large loops that are intersected with a small banked curve. I will post pictures of the ride later. Below is the main entrance:

Some shots of Costa Saurus:

An arial shot of the straight away after the time travel tunnel. You get wet on the helix as waterfalls hit you from 3 sides.

This is looking in the time travel tunnell from the area pictured above. As you can see, I used fog, lasers and barrell rolls to simulate the passage of time.

A view of the tunnel from the other end, entering from the inside of the mountain.
http://members.aol.com/RSoxNo1/Animalia/Saurus3.jpg

The view while inside the tunnel:
http://members.aol.com/RSoxNo1/Animalia/Saurus4.jpg

Just as you exit the tunnel you're totally immersed in a rainforest type atmosphere. When Wild! comes out, I will probably find room for some herbivore animatronics in this area.
http://members.aol.com/RSoxNo1/Animalia/Saurus5.jpg

The T-Rex attack right before a drop to safety.
http://members.aol.com/RSoxNo1/Animalia/Saurus6.jpg

The ride has quite a bit of unthemed track right now. I'm waitin for the expansion to be released so I can figure out how best to use the new Dino animatronics. I'll probably use more water as well, basically because I like the way coasters look on water.
