Welp I wipped out my 3D proram and putting together some Startrek Themed Scenery...

I just started tonight, these shots are concepts of what I'm looking for.

This is an arch I have an idea for, and I plan to make one for klingon and perhaps borg (maybe more).

The shots are from the front and side, I've tested the model in RCT3 and it's smooth and the game seems to handle it as well.

I have a lot of ideas to include this package, not just walkways, but hallways, bridges, ships, buildings. I'm also going to create path walls specifically detailed to the cooridors of the starships.

Will update!

http://dreemaze.com/parks/starfleet/arch1.jpg
http://dreemaze.com/parks/starfleet/arch2.jpg

*~*Update*~*

Well I had to reduce the model polygons, however I used this in advantage to give it a more technical look. However the arch is going to be without words, allowing you to use different signs and insignias to represent your different species.

Currently I'm trying to find a way how to get the words up there without having it dissapear when you zoom away in RCT3 (words take up quite a bit of polys).

I'm also working right now on the star fleet style cooridors and walkways. I should post a picture hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

*~*Update*~*10-27-05

I've created a federation style hall set, that you'll be able to tile and create something like these screenshots.

I also will create adition federation wall styles:
-Red Alert Status (The Red will be more brighter with the walls being darker
-Access Panels
-Damaged
-Borg Assimilated (SP)

The textures are like off and everything, because for some reason when I hit undo on my program, all my textures went berzerk. I was soo irritated, thus I quickly mapped the textures back on without precision. So rest assured, the final model will have better alignment.

http://dreemaze.com/parks/starfleet/hall2.jpg

*~*Update*~*10-27-05

I've completed the walls for the modern federation class hall walls, and am very pleased of the outcome for the walls. Better detailed textures and mapping.

All together I've came up with 14 wall pieces (mixed regular, damaged & 1 plain ) I haven't created the borg walls yet nor the earlier federation and alien based halls.

You can click here (http://dreemaze.com/parks/starfleet/halls) to view all hall pieces. Below I've attached the walls put together, to give you an idea of what this will look like.

ENJOY!

*~*Update*~*11-02-05

I've added 6 different wall pieces for the cargo bay allowing you to create all kinds of architectures. I'm going to make these available asap since you been waiting so patiently. Plus I do appreciate your comments and ideas.

Look great, but remember if you want to import in RCT3 without any problem, you might need to remodel to reduce the number of polygons. I have found put the limit of polygons is about 300. If your model has fewer than about 350 polygons then it should be work all the distance view, otherwise it will disappear after 10 square away which it is be not useful for long distance snapshot..

I wonder if it would be possible to make a low polygon version to use for exteriors and the high polygon version to use in interior spaces where you would usually see it up close or through your peep's eyes?

Sure looks sweet! Great job on it!

wow, that archway is impressive, there is a LOT that you could do with this, after all, from 5 series, and 10 movies, there are how many repeating alien species?
Borg
Klingon
Romulan
Kardasian
B'Jorn
Vulcan
and the Ferengii are the heavy hitters
can't wait to seee what you come up with, i know i will be watching this thread closely

Yea, some nice minitures of the ships would be nice scattered through the park, seeing as there are 5 series you could have 5 themes, eh ?

I need your opinion on texture styles... I've managed to bring it down to 8bit 256 bitmaps, but it gives me two ways of creating the image...

The differences between the both is one (top) is pixelated and dithered making the colors blend more naturally, the other (bottom) is more tone seperated, making the colors visually seperated...

BTW: These are the textures I'm using to create for the damaged walls. This is one of them I slapped for a burned panel, however this one looks more like mud was splattered on it =P.

So please choose which one you would most likely pick so I can keep the textures concistent.

I was going to pick that originally, howevr didn't want people to complain saying (It's pixelated) cause it's hard to have an 8bit texture without some beautiful gradients =P

This is coming along very well. It looks like your Startrek scenery will look better than the scifi scenery that came with the game.

Are you going to make any windows with stars and planets in the background?

This looks like it will be a must have pack.

Hey guyz, I haven't posted anything yet, however I will be pretty soon. I've been out and about recently for the holiday (Holloween party)

However I did create corner pieces for the hall ways to get some angles going on, and working on some door ways as well.

Other items that I'll also be working on are:
-Model ships (Federation, Borg, Klingon...) PLUS these ships will also be damaged as well.

-Signs and arch ways

-Cargo holds, rooms etc.

-(try) characters. I'm not good at creating character models, let alone faces within a texture. However I will do my best ;)

Have a safe Holloween.

Great looking models and excellent textures! Your Prime Directive is to finish this set as soon as possible! ;) Just kidding, I had to work a Star Trek reference in there somehow.

If you had some 'cargo bay' type sections (double or triple wide & high) that the corridors connected to, we could have battle scenes (with lasers of course) going on as the peeps ride by. I'm glad you're including versions with damage showing, that adds a lot of possibilities.

Keep up the great work!

I added doors to the piece set. Enjoy!

The piece with the borg head is just a concept, I plan to have the borg head as it is, but with a better damaged look on the door and hands prying through door. I will also have textures punching through the door as well.

Enjoy!

Hey guyz, sorry for the delay on any updates, I was out of town and had major nightmares trying to texture map this shuttle. I had a square 512x512 texture wrapping around curved corners, thus making weird shapes out of my textures. It was a headache, but I overcame it.

This is just one shuttle, I'm planning to make some more as well and add a bonus non Star Trek shuttle which I'm sure you guyz were praying for a while...

These parts are great, they will fit both with Star Trek rides and with rides that arent specifically Trek (i.e. just "sci-fi")

These are much better than some of what passes for "sci-fi" in the frontier set :)
Oh and how about some roof and/or floor pieces that would fit with the existing wall pieces (including for example, roof, floor and/or wall pieces (and accessories too) to represent shuttle bays (including whatever doors or shields or whatever it is Voyager uses to seperate shuttle bays from the vaccuum of space).

Just an update...

I'm still working as much as I can with these Star Trek pieces, however I did run into some problems in the process.

First off, for some reason the axis are not correct in my modeling program, thus the RCT3 lighting will not interact with my objects. So I'm going to have to figure that out as to how I can fix the coordinates (although I have an idea how). I use Caligari's TrueSpace and for some weird reason I have to Lay the object on it's back in order to get it to stand upright in the game. So I might have to import my finished model into Milkshape or 3D Max and fix the axis, thus solving this problem. It's a few extra steps, but I feel it's way worth it.

I model with Caligari TrueSpace, because it's an extremely user friendly thus powerful modeling program.

Second everytime I create the objects and import them into RCT, they look great! The scenery is aligned, the sizes are great and the textures come out clean. However when I reboot my machine I get an SID error which is very fustrating, which then in the process slows me down in my creativity process.

I appreciate all your comments and feedback on my pieces as well as your extreme patience! I will work hard to get these pieces ready for you, and with pleanty of scenery models to enjoy and create with!

Groovdafied
11-10-2005, 11:01 PM
I'm looking for someone who can help me test this. Someone who successfully created objects within RCT3 that reacts to light. I've been fooling around with my program, and I need someone to help swap information as to what I'm doing wrong with my objects for it not to react to RCT3's world lighting.

What I need is to give you an object + texture, you will then do what you did in order to get it to properly appear in RCT3. Then we share notes.

I will also let this person try out the other items I've created thus allowing me to make any changes within the process.

The sooner I can find someone to help me correct this problem I'm having, the sooner I can finish up this pack.

marnetmar
11-10-2005, 11:12 PM
One thing you might try Groovdafied, I'm not familiar with True Space, but if you can select all the verticies of the model & then "unweld" them & re-import into the game that might fix it. I first had to make duplicate "sides" to the wall pieces & then delete the original ones to get the correct lighting in-game, but if this way works for you it would be a lot easier. I know it's no fun to copy each "side" of a simple wall, much less something with very much detail.

BTW: There was one factor I didn't take into consideration that might be causing the error during the transfer... biturn.

I've always been using biturn, which seems to do ok when it comes to translation from one format to the other. However it might be messing up how the model should originally be.

I'm testing different converters to see what avenues of success I'll come up with. Again thank you all for your patience!

Hey Groovdafied- I have Truespace (v3, as a freebie), but no time to figure it out! I do know that it seems that all the 3D model programs need to have the objects rotated 90 degrees before you use the imported program.

I am at square 1 with truespace, and have no models to play with. I'd be happy to play with a simple block if you got one!

Hey guyz! I'm still working at the scenery, however I've completed a lot of the cargo bay wall tiles. I was having a lot of alignment problems and had to take it a step at a time.

I must admit that importing these objects into the game is harder then modeling them. If not the proper size, then it's all out of wack. I'm trying to make individual tiles instead of a premade building, thus allowing everyone to create what they want. However making a tile based structure available in the game was the trickiest part. Making rounded corners was just as difficult...

However here are some ingame screenshots of a completed cargo bay. I'm finishing up the accessory pieces as well... (door, shuttles, floor, ladders, etc.)

As for the other images, I do appologize for lack of availability. My server is down, and working at getting it back up.

Enjoy!

Great looking work. But unfortunately since I installed my newer FX-5200 videocard My TS 5.0 crapped out on me and now I have no way to do the 3d stuff. But the work looks greate old buddy, and I am sure it will provide beyond just a Star Trek theme. It could be the inside of a Space Mountain or other futuristic things.

You guys are just so amazing, just wish I could join you all. I need to talk to Caligari's techops and see if I just need an upgraded TS...I know they have a newer version 7 just came out. Might be worth the upgrade.

Anyhow you and the rest of the gang are all doing awesome work. Now if we can just get many other things out of Frontier, it will round out the package :D

the ingame scenery is too over animated for me, the textures on the walls are a bit overdone. I'm currently thinking of what i can do with this scenery once it's released... i may recreate the landing bay of the death star and have that as a station for a 'tie-fighter coaster'

Quick update...

Again I appreciate your patience, currently I'm working two jobs and it's hard to complete this project, but I'm working as hard as I can.

I just created the Cargo wall set, and emailed a few volunteers to test out this set, just to see how it performs on different machines, get inside opinions and such.

The guy is working two jobs and still willing to work in what little spare time he has left to make something to share with everyone, free of charge, and you post that you're a 'little mad' because you haven't got it yet??? :weird:

Now I've heard everything...maybe you'll want to edit that before other members read it and tell you what they think of that statement.

Geez, im sorry, Why are you always bothering me about things. I didnt know he was working two jobs. Your getting on my nerves, you have a problem with everything i post. Just leave me alone. Im not mad, im disapointed, your proably gonna come up with some smart aleck remark about that one to.

Supercon007, I don't even know you, so I'm not sure how I can be bothering you all the time, nor do I understand why you think I have a problem with everything you post, when did I ever do that? Send me a pm if you think I've done something to you sometime because I quite frankly don't know you from Adam, so it certainly isn't anything personal.

I'm sorry you didn't know he was working two jobs, but he had mentioned that several times in his thread. You have to admit that when you said that you were 'a little mad' that it wasn't done yet that probably didn't sound good at all and could be taken the wrong way. Let's just consider the matter closed, okay? I am sorry you feel that way.

Right now I have version 1 of the Cargo Room set ready for you to play with. Its compatible with RCT3, Soaked & Wild.

Soon I'll have available the accesories and some other stuff I want to add as well as hallways.

Enjoy!

Download Here (http://dreemaze.com/StarTrekCargoV1.zip)

By downloading this, you agree that you wont strip the pack and claim it as your own

Not to be sold at all...

All rights and copyrights are owned by Paramount, and that this pack uses the title Star Trek, but is not a part of Atari and Frontier. This pack was created soley sci-fi theme creations for RCT3 theme parks and for Star Trek Fanbase.

If you put these peices on the grid in the game, some of them are off center and do not lined up, some are bigger than the square. Could be a great set if reworked tho.

Did you decide to change the size flag at the last minute, say from Full Tile to Quarter Tile? This changes the offset at which the scenery pieces are positioned.

I can tell you that in the .ASE coordinate space a full tile scenery item stretches from (-2,0,-2) to (2,0,2) with the y coordinate being the vertical, ie. towards the sky. A quarter scenery tile stretches from (-1,0,-1) to (1,0,1) and a wall stretches from (-1,0,0) to (1,0,0) although I could have got my x and z axis mixed up on the walls since I'm working from memory. Therefore if you change the size flag at the last minute you'll find that all of your scenery pieces are shifted by (1,0,1) which will probably stop them lining up.

Note, different 3d packages interpret sizes and axis in different manners, for instance I'm lead to believe that Milkshape considers the y axis to be depth and z to be height which means that objects need to be rotate before importing them into RCT. Your mileage may vary, you should know how your particular 3d package behaves if you've got as far as getting the pieces in-game.

I'm sure you'll have it fixed up soon enough. Don't panic, take your time fixing the problem properly and don't let the other people on the forum pressurise you into releasing something before you're happy with it.

Hey Groove glad to see you back...missed you and a lot of the old timers.

Been trying to get my TS 5.2 to export walls, but it exports as a problem. Can you PM me at the rcthq forums where I can discuss the TS issues as you originally inspired me to use TS. I am using currently 5.2 and can model fairly comfortably. Thanks for the help if you got time. And thanks for all your hard work. Sorry about your pop. Hope all fares better for ya.

i dont mean to be mean.this pack is to good to be mean to. although, a nice texturing for buttons and maybe explosions might be nice for this pack.

Ok I have answers for these... I might've mistaken the explanation of the tile names, but here we go...

http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/9263/cornercritizize5lu.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
This is an inner corner and outter corner with bases on each one. These are two different corner pieces. If you rotate the larger piece (which is the inner corner piece) and match up the base line with the outter corner (smaller piece), they will fit. There are two corner pieces inner and outter. Inner is the larger corner and outter is the smaller corner.

http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/2743/doorcritizize7cl.png (http://imageshack.us)

These doors are placed backwards. If you rotate the doors they will align up the walls fine. The larger door is offset but still ligns up the wall. Both doors are to be placed on the side with the base facing out.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/5504/wallcornercritizize0ga.png (http://imageshack.us)

Same thing with this one... You're lining up an inner corner piece as an outter corner. Rotate them and they will match up with the walls. These pieces you are using were mostly ment to add heighth, so you don't re-use the wall with base ontop of each other, thus looking tacky.

http://img464.imageshack.us/img464/6785/wootyou0uk.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Ok this one you're using the outter corner on each other, so they line up ok. The ceiling tile you are using, is placed wrong... With the wall base placed as is, the ceiling tile with the sliced corner is to face opposite direction. Thus that side will line up with the opposite side of the wall with the base. (Does this make sense?)
although, these match up nicely.

I added a game save file with the a demonstration of the pieces setup, did you try that?

I have tried the link from vodhin's site, it works but I get an error when trying to unzip the file, I am using ExtractNow.. I say this because I don't think winzip always gives you an error, sometimes it just unpacks most of it and stops. I think it depends on the way its optioned at the beginning. I will have to test the scenery to see how it works, i am hoping the problem is with the unzipping process rather than missing rct3 data.

I am a little concerned cause I have seen this on numerous files and will try redownloading them or looking for other sources :160:
