OK - all done.

FIRST don't forget to DELETE the old Pumper-Steelworx folder in your Themes directory.

You can either download the self-installer version, or the straight forward zip version. I'm not going to go over all the detailed instructions (due to lack of time), but you can refer to the original Steelworx thread if necessary.

All object ovls are the same, so I'm assuming you can load your old parks up which used Steelworx, and it will work (crossing fingers).

There are however, a few new additions/changes:
- The Catwalk rail bars are now vertical, which look more realistic.
- A New Lift Top Catwalk piece has been added - this is simply a horizontal Catwalk for the top of a lift hill. It's a single object that can be rotated and connected to either the right or left angled catwalk.
- Along with the angled Tunnel, there is now a Horizontal Tunnel with matching Brace.

DOWNLOADS
SteelWorx (Wild) Automatic Installer (it's set for Drive C as Default) (http://www.trackworx.com/Pumper-SteelWorx.exe)
SteelWorx (Wild) Manual Install Zip File (http://www.trackworx.com/Pumper-SteelWorx.zip)

The Darkride set and Blox will be updated soon...

thanks pumper. I have been looking foreward to seeing this set in wild for awhile.

off topic: could you send me a .sid for the 1/4th tile vertical bar. I really need it. my e-mail is robertalisoviejo@aol.com

JCat

Sid? Or do you mean the model itself which is an MS3D file?

DarkRidePerson
11-04-2005, 03:23 PM
no, just the .sid

I am in need of a template for one of my objects because I don't know how the unknowns and the flags work in jonwil's editor.

JCat
11-04-2005, 03:30 PM
I have one saved sid which is universal for all objects in steelworx - let me look it up when I get home.

1. Yes, you'll have to uninstall the old version before installing the updated one. Just delete the Steelworx folder in the Style/Themed folder & install the new one when it's released.

2. Yes

As I posted above, yes you'll need to delete the old folder before installing the new theme & yes they will still show up in the parks that used the previous version.

Pumper, the beamdiagnal.ovl file doesnt work in Wild! (it doesnt have the bug fix).
EDIT: I can see a beamdiagnol.ovl file in the latest zip but not a beamdiagnal.ovl so I assume beamdiagnal.ovl is obsolete.

Thanks, Jonwil - let me fire up my lap top again and see what this is all about. I have so many pieces, both in and out of Steelworx that I have to see which one that is.

Jonwil -
I checked, and Beam Diagonal is the second object on the list when in-game, and it appears to be working fine. It was redone for Wild, as I saw the newly converted file was made yesterday. Are you getting any failures on it?

hillibilly
11-05-2005, 07:39 AM
I get an error while trying to deleted the old one saying "Cannot delete aframe.ovl:Access is denied" Than at the bottom it says "Make sure the disc is not full or write-protectedand that the file is notcurrently in use" ? What do I do? It won't let me delete custom tuff in that folder.

BTW- Are you ever going to make a updated version ffor the new track elements in the game now?

Noobie
11-05-2005, 08:30 AM
great, but all i need is Wild!

11-05-2005, 12:02 PM
Woohoo! Thanks the update Pumper. Glad you were able to find time to re-build all these elements - that's a lot of work! But I think your pack is the single most popular one out there (just look at all views of your old thread) so you've made a lot of folks very happy.

Hillbilly: make sure you aren't running RCT3 at the same time you're trying to delete the files. If that doesn't help, try restarting Windows in case there's a left over file lock that isn't being cleaned up. Hope this helps...

The extended coaster uses the same track as the Inverted, Steel Twister etc (but with some new parts like the dive loop, inclined loop and zero G roll)

Maybe Pumper will come up with a new set containing supports suitable for the new elements on the Extended coaster.

Thanks for the comments :D

Yeah, as Marnetmar mentioned, work has me nuts -- 4th quarter craziness...

The Dark Ride set re-import process is almost finished as I started last evening. Unlike Steelworx, I had deleted the ASE's from the DarkRide Set (who knew?) - but luckily, I had all the original models so I've been converting them through Bitturn first. It's one extra step per model then Steelworx, but of course the Dark Ride Set has only 1/4 of the amount of objects, so it's not too bad. I should have it up either tonight or tomorrow for sure. In case anyone's missed it, Marnetmar's Dark Ride objects have already been converted as well.

One of the main reasons I wanted to get Wild!, to install your supports. Thanks :)
EDIT: I'm having a problem, it's installed and all (used the self installer, and didn't change the path) and it's there in the folder, but it won't come up in game. And yes, I have wild, and it's a new park so I wouldn't have to invent it. It's under walls right? I looked there and in the scenery but I didn't see it.

Is this a new sandbox park? If it is & you can't see them, you might go into the Style/Themed folder & delete the Steelworx folder & try reinstalling it & see if that helps.

he posted a self-extractor kit download on some other thread, don't remember which one, which pretty much installed the SteelWorx. it worked for me, and i've been enjoying his beautiful work since day one. the installer's probably on the original kit thread. P.S., just download the file and save it under Program Files/Atari/RCT3/Scenery/Themed. that should work; then just use the extractor kit and get ready for some beau-ti-ful supports. :D

so far as i can figure, the self extracting download creates on to many folders under the style/themed folder or RCT3
when i looked under that folder, it had a main folder title jcat's steelworx, then in that ANOTHER folder title jcat's steelworx, and inside of that was the ovl's and all necessary components for this to function in game
the program would not access the extra sub folder for them to work in game, altho they appeared on the list of available scenery, so use the manual download, hope this helps

hey pumper, just another thought, if you do ever decide to creat another set, or update this one with more peices, here is a view of the best possible peice to create to fit with all of the new elements on the extended coaster, as well as some other elemenets that we already have, this would jsut fit better i believe http://rcdb.com/ig2498.htm?picture=8
and i think that i have mentioned it before, but i cannot recall
the box frame loop support would be wonderful to have on the diagonal now, as well and the lift hill catwalks, and regular brake run catwalk

i was alos searching around and found some other things that may work well also, not sure how they would look in game, or even if you would attempt them, i know that these would take a LOT of time to do :
for the regular looping and LIM type coaster tracks a loop frame support like this http://rcdb.com/ig130.htm?picture=1 or even this http://rcdb.com/ig13.htm?picture=3, it obviously does NOT need to be as complex, but maybe two beams lining up just outside of the track, then a central spine oustide of those and avery so often so connector supports between the three
the same goes for a corkscrew support http://rcdb.com/ig13.htm?picture=4

thanks for all of your hard work on these supports, they bring so much realism to the game, and make everything look so much better!

I am having SERIOUS trouble with SteelWorx. I own RTC3 Soaked Gold Edition and I downloaded SteelWorx to make my Roller Coasters look better... but whenever I try to use it, the game freezes, and a box pops up saying something about an sid. When you click okay The Game Quits reporting an error report and ALL MY DATA IS ERASED How in the heck am I supposed to fix it?

coinich
10-11-2006, 08:25 PM
I doubt that all data is erased; almost all CS users get that error at one point or another with no loss at all. It simply means that there is an extra folder in your Style/Themed folder effectively hiding the scenery from the game. Try looking in the stickies for more info.

billseitz

billseitz - Inside the Themed folder you should have a folder named Pumper-SteelWorx inside that folder there should be another folder that says JCat's SteelWorx & 2 ovl files named style.common.ovl & style.unique.ovl
Make sure that this is how the files are in your game & it should work fine.

If I may add, what you have said is very true about some downloads do create unnecessary sub-folders that cause confusion in the game --- and result to game freeze. Some are easy to detect and solved by just deleting the extracted files and do it again.

It's a whole lot better to extract the files in the folder you created for CS downloads because once files are extracted you can check if there are unnecessary sub-folders created and remove it before you moved the CS file to RTC3 style/themed folder.

Okay, I have a compressed (zipped) file called Pumper SteelWorx, but when I open it, hundreds of ovl. files pop up. I think one of the problems is that I the AUTOMATIC INSTALLER didn't work on my computer, so I downloaded the zip file. But the zip file contains not 2 but over 100 ovl. files. The supports are in the WALLS section, you have to get rid of the orginal supports first. You can do this with the 'support killer' that comes with the set

Then you just put the supports in the right place

like this:
this is my directory:
C:/program files/atari/rollercoadter tycoon 3

this is the one it installs to:
C:/program files/atari/rollercoaster tycoon 3(r)

you need to remove the (r) to install

There are no catwalks in JCat's set for curved sections of track. I believe someone else was working on a set like that, but I don't think it's been released yet.

Yes ATH was but is now on hold due to some muppets annoying him! Should be restarted though once he gets back on top of real life as its being bit of a b!tch at the moment!

People must have the CS installed to view the CS in your park. If you release your park for d/l, make sure to list all the CS used so people can get it that need it.

2 things: does this require Wild, or can it be used with plain RCT3 (patched)? And the links provided in the first post are dead.
