I think I'm starting to get the hang of modeling now:D After reading through this tutorial (http://www.modstothemax.net/games/ultimateride/tutorials/coastercar101/wf01.html) it's made it alot easier for me to understand.

If I get better, I'm thinking about a Snow-Themed scenery pack with snow shoveled pieces for pathways and so on...

Here's what I've got so far...(Im using Milkshape)

Still need to smoothen it out obviously and add the texture and what have you:p

Oh jonwill, the Link for your scenery importer doesn't work...

Comments and Ideas would be great btw;)

Nice work so far -[A.S] Fanie-  I'm glad you found Whiteflash's tut helpful. The link in my sig for "RCT3 Mod Tools" has the newest version of Jonwil's importer listed on that page.

Good work! That's a nice piece of modelling, I use anim8or for mine, but the importer crashes when i import the .ASE files!
So I just play around with 3D modelling but don't acually use them for much... Apart from stuff i need in DarkBasic...
A snow-themed pack sounds great! Atari and Frontier really should have brought that across from the previous 2 games....

Ok right now I've added the "snow" Texture, but i'm stil having trouble smoothening the edges out:confused:

Anyone know how to do this in Milkshape, the tut above doesnt mention anything about smoothening out edges...

Heres what it looks like at the moment;

Jonwill (or anybody who has delt with custom-scenery) - Where do I get the ASE. file converter thing-er-madjiger:weird:

You'll need Biturn Version 0.68a3 (The newest version)... Convert it to a 3DS max ascii (.ASE) format and it'll be ready to use in the importer!
It's also good for viewing other people's models that are in milkshape and other formats, you can convert them to your program... (I say milkshape because i use anim8or and you can't import milkshape stuff, so I convert em to .3DS first)

A quick search on google and it's not listed, only the old version with no .ASE conversion... Parknovice sent me the version that can convert to .ASE, so if you PM your email i'll send it on to you...

Should be on its way to you now!

You should have PMed it to me, it can be used for spam harvesting now you've put it up like that... If you post your email put it up as Ebitsua16_at_AOL_dot_com.... people should know what you mean, and it isn't picked up by harvesters...

You don't have to use the newest version, I'm still using v0.85 & it works fine. There's a link to the Biturn site in my sig.

You can convert the Milkshape ms3d files to ase files with Biturn, no need to export them as 3ds files.

-[A.S] Fanie- What part are you trying to smooth out?

Check to make sure your texture file is square & is either 128x128 256x256 etc in size & is the size is ok then it's probably not saved as an 8bit bmp file. You can open it in Paint & save as 256 color bmp & that'll fix that.

That's exactly the same problem I have! I've PMed Jonwill about it, hopefully he'll get back to me as i've never done custom scenery before and i'm working on an FMA pack with walls and stuff...

Good work so far! You're really going through this fast, which is great! Can't wait to see the finished product in RCT3!

Ok, I have finally gotten this object imported into the game, lined up perfect, perfect size, perfect position.

The only thing wrong is the texture....

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/5252/untitled2hx.jpg

TOO DARK!

It's supposed to white not grey:( Anyone know how to solve this:confused:
