How do I add a ghost square to my custom scenery?

Fixed
mmmkay, when I try to open my game to test if the custom objects that I have made work, I get an error that says:

-----does not map to overlay file ---------/style.---------.ovl

Can anybody tell me why this error occured, so that I can see how I may fix it.

Fixed
mmmkay, How do I fix this

The lighting is all messed up. It works ok for one half of the object, but it seems to get all wonky (wonky, is that a word?) on the other half.

Here is the original, inside milkshape, where the lighting works great.

I'm not sure, but it might be an error with the icon texture. Can you post the exact message, that might help.

That's a new one on me yoshiyyy, have you tried to remake the ase/ovl files & reimport the model back into the game again?
I've had some oddball errors before & usually remaking those files seems to fix things. Hopefully someone else will come along that might have had this type of error before & have a better answer for you.

ok, here it is.

relocation data entry 0x6cb(19/34) doesn't map within the overlay
'style/themed/indianajones/Style.'

this error has been sent to debug log

ok <attempt to continue> cancel <exit>

That's good to hear you figured out the typo. What did you import the model as? Like a wall piece or scenery piece.

I'm not certain, but I think that's a icon texture error, you might double check your icon texture & remake the ase/ovl
files for the model if the icon texture seems ok & see if that fixes it.

There's a link to the original Tutorial Klinn made in my sig, it's a little old, but most everything is still the same. I don't have the other one.

i re-made all the files and now i get that error again, im makeing my scenery with rhino 3d and then converting the file would that have any effect on it working or not?

It shouldn't matter, I'm not familiar with the Rhino program. Are you saving it as a 3ds file before converting it to ase?

I fixed the error, it turns out that I was trying to use more than one icon texture when I was only supposed to use one. I am feeling a combination of stupidity and laughter at the same time... :haha:

About your new problem, the lighting: Try to separate out the object faces so the front is not attached to the side polygons etc. When they are connected and part of the same 'Smoothing Group', then the game tries to sorta 'round them off', i.e. blend the lighting from one face to the other. Great for curved objects, not so good for sharp edges. ;)

BTW, I think 'wonky' is a delightful word. :)
