Would it be at all to imitate the functionality of billboards, or, if that isn't possible, Queue line TVs? I wish to add Televisions to ride queues and buildings. That would be so Ace. If possible, LCD with hang from roof & wall please :D

OK. Well, i wondered because Battor made those speakers, when no-one else had tried (IIRC). Perhaps this needs to be added to a Jonwil wish list? ;)

Actually, with the latest importer you can set the flag that says "this is a billboard mesh" and I release SID files for the billboards.

I have no idea how to get them to work in-game but try them out and experiment :)

Not sure if this is helpful, but someone did say the billboards could handle WMVs up to about 2MB. If so, you might find an appropriate size billboard for it.

I know, they can also handle avi. That is the main reason why I'm asking. Wouldn't it be cool to have screens over queues that show clips from the ride or other things? Or even just a static logo. I think this would benefit everyone, from me to skilled park makers :)

just tried it, and the scenery shows up as usual in the scenery list, and is coloured black. it dosn't show in the BB list and no texture can placed.

Also, it is only placeable on the ground apparently, and always 'sits' perfectly on the ground.


I have the sid files but the billboards isn't with them, or i can't find them.

I know we shouldn't bump threads, but made some progress on this (better than starting a new thread).

Still trying ot figure out the texture problem... . Still at least it shows in the list.

maybe it needs some eq. of the recolourable alpha texture to work properly? to define an area for the texture to show?

That's excellent news ;) Progress is progress! Can you show us what happens with an image on the billboard, say for example the screenshot you posted?

i did, that is the image. Obviously it dosn't work properly, i don't know why that is.

I just don't think this is possible at the moment without a new scenery importer.
somehow we need to tell the game where to place the image on the mesh i think, its not possible now as far as i can tell.

Also, depending on the mesh used, it was very laggy when zooming out (although fine close up). something that needs to be looked at maybe.
