View Full Version : Huge FPS reduction?

I thought it was caused by one piece of custom scenery but i removed everything and it still does this........

On an empty sandbox was getting 100fps+ but now only 45fps. Dosn't seem to be any reason for this - the game just started running much slower randomly.

Making it really difficult to keep working on a project.

Framerate is measured by fps (frames per second). Some people are lazier and just type in fps but really mean the word framerate. (you should've seen a lot of "it'll hurt the fps" type posts)

Anyways, don't compare blank sandboxes, the framerate changes on a park are usually much different, blank sandboxes tell you little, if not nothing on how well the park will run in general.

from 100 to 40 fps? a drop of 60fps is a lot for no reason. other people have had this problem too. Just hope it dosn't decide to decrease by another 60 fps!! :p

yea thats strange...but I'd love to get 45 FPS still, on a blank Sandbox I get around 30 or so, nothing bad, j/ a lil slow when I build a large park with a lot of scenery. I only have a laptop though, which doesn't have the greatest gaming specs, so I can't expect much more than what I'm getting.

weirdly its gone back to 100fps!!!!

Although every few secs it shows 45fps for a short time.

Not sure how accurate the fps counter is...........

BTW, with any kind of rides/scenery, it drops rapidly, as little as 15fps at night with a few rides. Lowest is 5fps i think but to me thats unplayable.........

You may have some programs running behind the scenes which could be causing you reduction in FPS. In other words you may have resources being used by other programs that maybe running that you can't see. I suggest that you check for spy-ware and the likes. Also test how your system behaves when you unplug from the net and turn off your virus protection program.

tried that. only main program i got running is zonealarm but its needed as i'm effectivly on a network.

any anti-programs, such as anti-virus always slow the games down, close it, and disconnect the net and play the game just like manuel book said.
also you are suppose to keep clean with your computer, like uninstall useless programs, scanning the computer, update drivers every week. if donít this computer are getting ill and will blow up within year.
