I am currently attempting to create a mixmaster show inspired by the Animusic (http://www.animusic.com) series. I hope to have a simple example of what I am attempting. For those of you with good imaginations. . . try to imagine a firework show where, instead of watching the fireworks go off in the air to the music, it appears that the fireworks/lasers/fountains actually are making the music. Each one coresponds to a different note. And eventually there will be different intruments that will all join in on the show and create (hopefully) an as yet unparalleled audio visual expierience.

There are other similar projects in development by others on the boards, I actually had the idea for this quite some time ago, but only recently pursued it. This is not an attempt to copy anyone elses hard work.

Very cool idea CoasterNut, I'd like to see what you come up with for this.

This is an excellent idea... but use some caution in choosing the music. A single firework 'creating' each sound... that could quickly add up to a LOT of fireworks going off at once, bogging down your machine, and making it near impossible to continue. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea... just, think a little down the road when you start.

Thanks for the support. Animusic is pretty amazing stuff.

Here (http://rapidshare.de/files/16975847/Sync_Test.wmv.html) is the link to a very early test to see how well the sync would work and how believable the effect would be. The music is Chim Chim Cher-ee by Mannhiem Steamroller. As you can tell the camera movements make it a little hard to tell which way the "instrument" is oriented.
The finished product will feature several different "instruments" that will create the music. They will of course look much better than this rather plain one.

One of the main problems I am running into with the instrument design is that one of the scenery is aligned to a quarter tile. For example in the song I am working on, I would like to use chimneys to produce the notes, however they aren't quite lined up correctly. If anyone has any ideas for instrument designs or has any fireworks that would work well as a brass or woodwind sound. Please post here or PM me.

I don't think I'm familiar with Animusic. What I'm imagining this to be is if Blue Man Group went pyro. Like with their big tube drum thingy that they use in some of their shows, but with fireworks shooting out of the ends of the tubes as they hit them.

hmm, the problem with this is it seems that none of the fireworks are "producing" music - rather, they are just acting because of the music - which is just an oversynced show - so first things first - the launchers have to act as an instrument would - and that means translating something like 88 keys on the piano to launchers in RCT. this is not an easy task to try and get the fireworks to look like they're playing and i wish you luck man.

n747: that is somthing that I am currently working on. When I am eventually finished I will have a wide assortment of insruments that will have clearly defined high and low sections on them. Now I don't know if I am crazy enough to attempt an entire piano, but I'll have to deal with that when I get there.
I am quickly realizing how complicated this whole project could very quickly become:downcast:
I'll try making some good looking instruments today, hopefully I will have screens tomorrow.
