View Full Version : RCTPyro Fix

AT_Mad
04-05-2006, 05:13 PM
Hi, some of you may have noticed that rctpyro is offline. This is because your internet provider has not reconised the new IP. For those who cannot access rctpyro here is a fix;

1) Enter this into run:
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

2) Choose Notepad from the list.

3) Add this line to the bottom of the notepad:
85.234.142.13 www.rctpyro.com

4) Exit then Save this text file.

This should now fix rctpyro and you should now be able to access the site again.

WARNING

Next time the ip for rctpyro changes you will need to add the new ip into that file or delete that new line.

Update

This fix no longer works. It looks like RCTPyro has been deleted from the host.

Update

RCTPyro is back online at www.rctpyro.co.uk so this fix is no longer nessisary

Thanks

1. You go into start,run.
2. You copy and past this into it and click run:C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
3. When it asks you to choose a programe, scroll down and double click on notepad
4. Then copy and paste 85.234.142.13 on a new line at the end of the file.
5. Finally hit the spacebar and type in www.rctpyro.com so it doesn't come up as a hyperlink.
6. Then go to file save and then close it.

It should work or at least it did for me.

Hope I helped!

follow the instructions of At Mad in the first post BUT: don't forget to make a space between the last number and first "w" of the address, this means after the "13" hit the space bar.It should work.

claudio37
04-11-2006, 10:11 AM
no it's working, it comes with that message because your computer is not recognizing the new IP.
Follow the instructions of AT mad
Go to start, then run, then enter the information c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (enter this information exactly like this)
When you type that click ok
A window will open with a lot of programs
click on notepad and click ok
now you will see a new window call "hosts notepad"
go to the end of that page and type:85.234.142.13(click space here)www.rctpyro.com
After that close the notepad window.
And that's it. It should work
Rctpyro is been up and running a while now....

Ive tried both the addresses given in the posts above. 1st one 85.234.142.13 says there's no site configured for this address. So I tried the 2nd addy 85.234.142.139 and got a british travel agency. Does anyone have the correct address so I can access RCTpyro again? Neither fix worked for me.

Guys.

You add this exact line to the bottom of the file, make sure it is not on the same line as ANYTHING else, it has to be on a line of its own!:

85.234.142.13 www.rctpyro.com

Press save, and close it.

I also have a fix for our Mac users! :)

For Mac OS X:

Find the run command, or find. (I am not familar with mac, sorry) Locate this folder:

/etc/hosts

Add the same line: 85.234.142.13 www.rctpyro.com at the bottom.

The hosts files in other OS's can be found here:
Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP Home c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Hope this helps. :)

i'm afraid to tell you brad, but this still doesn't work, i think it is my spyware, it denies me to change it, so even if i do change it, it goes back to normal, but says it has changed.......Sorry, will you try and get the site running properly so we can see it, the ones who can't thanks.......

Brad, the one major problem I've found , is that the hosts file can not be edited with notepad. (It is a read only file) you save it and it gets saved as a txt file (if you can that is)

Here's a thought, how about someone just post a working link to the site & that will help everyone.

But will that work? i just thought it still wouldn't work because we need to change the settings, in our hosts, although i have done that, so brad? are you trying to say that this won't get fixed? and we are stuck with no rctpyro for those who it doesn't work with:cry:

Jordan
04-17-2006, 11:46 AM
all the links do work, but our computers dont recognize the new ip address rctpyro has. this means our computers wont let us access the site.

stupid computers :p

deit: lewtheo, me and the rest of the rctpyro staff are working on fixing this every day, but we have not quite come to a conclusion yet on how to get it to work.

04-19-2006, 03:19 AM
well until now I didn't have a problem with the fix, but now is not working again.
when i go to www.rctpyro.com in my address bar it comes up with a page named cPanel saying "there is no website configured at this address"

lewtheo
04-19-2006, 06:33 AM
maybe that is because it was getting re-configured and has not finished yet, i will be happy when i can just go on it, bored without :( but that is life

04-20-2006, 07:20 AM
is there a new fix for this?
I tried deleting the fix but it's not working either so I put it back....

lewtheo
04-20-2006, 07:48 AM
No it is down overall, because my mates computer used to let him on it, but now saying "There is no website configured at this address" So it isn't just you, maybe they are taking it offline, to try and fix it, i dont konw but hope it is up and running soon :(

claudio37
04-20-2006, 07:51 AM
thanks for that...makes me feel better is not just me....;)
it would be nice to hear from them though, you know, sort of official word....

HALO2KING
04-20-2006, 01:09 PM
Well, I'll be straight with you guys, I have NO idea as to why it has suddenly gone down, nor do I know why the cPanel error has arose.

Here is the scary part, according to the links (http://www.rctpyro.com/forums for example...) all files have been wiped.

This may not be the case, they may have moved it to a different server or something of that nature.

I'm loosing the will to carry on with RCTPyro, it's give me nothing but trouble since we moved from our last host. Plus, my old host recently locked me out of the control panel - so we are stuck with the current nameservers, pretty much forever.

claudio37
04-20-2006, 01:23 PM
you mean that not even yourself can access the place?
it is completely down? for everybody?

lewtheo
04-20-2006, 02:37 PM
well it is glad to know, that it is everyone it is down with, why didn't you move to a relliable host? that would of made more sense, and i wonder why they have locked you out.........And if everything is wiped, you may just say to them it is end of site, and find new host, this happened to my mates website he had same problems, was paying for a site he didn't have......:(

HALO2KING
04-21-2006, 10:01 AM
I haven't started paying yet.

We moved from our hold host because we had $60 outstanding (No idea why, ask Dean) Dean couldn't pay for that, so we moved RCTPyro away from our old host.

Now that they have locked my old hosting account (That doesn't dicate whether rctpyro is up or not) I can't change any settings whatsoever.

lewtheo
04-21-2006, 01:59 PM
Ohhhh, so do you not know how to come over it with a "cure" and maybe your old hosts locked you out, because you have $60 outstanding.......

But i wouldn't why it has suddenly gone down again :(

how do you find the new IP address

AT_Mad
04-22-2006, 06:17 AM
you dont need to find the new ip its in the first thread.

This is how you do it anyway

Type cmd or command
Type Ping www.rctpyro.com

Update.

A friend of the host tells me that the host is a complete ***hole sometimes...

And has, for some reason, chosen to ignore me.

I fear the end of RCTPyro is closing in too fast...

Jordan
04-24-2006, 07:41 PM

joetomnj
04-24-2006, 07:46 PM
Brad, how big of a space you need for RCTPyro?

HALO2KING
04-25-2006, 08:35 AM
The space isn't the problem.

It's the fact that RCTPyro has likely been deleted, and due to my host completely ignoring me, I have no idea as to whether he has a backup.

HOWEVER...

RCTPyro is still loaded onto our previous host, but I've been locked out.

If I can someone gather the money, there is a chance we can (although maybe around month old) get it back

Dattu
04-29-2006, 12:09 AM
Which hosting compant did you use? That's really arrogant of them to do something like that.

I have NO fireworks whatsoever as of now. I really have no clue as to where they have gone. I would be very appreciative if someone could put their's up for everyone until RCTPyro is fixed.

Edit: Nevermind. I found someone who hosted it on RapidShare.
Here it is. (http://rapidshare.de/files/16326775/_bdc_Infested_Saturn_II_V2.zip.html)

If he doesn't reply to me soon, I'm going to threaten with Legal Action.
