So, I'm a Vegas-a-holic, as I play a ton of poker...

Anyways, although my newfound addiction to RCT has taken pretty much all of my time from my work (poker), I've decided to mess around and try to build some of the hotels from Vegas, eventually possibly doing the whole strip...

This is Bellagio, both buildings, all done from whatever comes with RCT, Wild and Splash or whatever the expansion packs are called. I have no idea how to import scenery or anything like that (any help would be appreciated, I'm pretty computer-retarded)...

Anyways, let me know what you guys think:

It's just the outside shell at this point, obv, and actually my first attempt at ever making a building.

Edit - Obv I have a few areas to fix up, the front cylinder, most notably, and some detail on a couple of the levels as seen below.

Also, the 2nd building isn't pictured, but trust me, it's there :D

Cheers.

Gonna go read the stickies now (I'm actually a mod at a poker forum, so I hate people like me who don't do that first, lol, but I digress). I made it a bit smaller anyways.

I go by the same name on most sites, but don't play on Stars much anymore.

Thanks for the welcome.

Very good job, especially since you are using the in-game scenery!

If you'd like to try downloading custom scenery - which will allow you to take what you've done a lot further, check out the stickies in the custom scenery forums. If you have problems installing it and getting it to work, feel free to post questions of even PM me, be glad to help.

Looks really accurate, good to see someone doing it, i really want to go to Las Vegas. After this try the Mandalay Bay or the MGM Grand. Good work though!

I am in Vegas, working. Currently I am on the north side of the Wynn, doing his new project. I went and watched the Stardust come down that night at 2:30 in the morning.

Skipper, I am sooo jealous!
I've been to Vegas twice and absolutely love it! I bet it was a pretty neat sight to see the Stardust come down. Though it is a little sad to see the older ones go....

Memories......

I've only stayed at Excalibur and the Hilton. I'm hoping to go back again, but being on the East Coast its hard to pick up and go...

Anyway this is a good idea! Maybe you should get a CS maker to make a Paris Balloon. You should try and make the fountain show using the waterjets (I know that would be really tough, but cool!)

For the record, I've only had this game for like a week, and suck at computers, lol. Most of the stuff is going to be way over my head. I haven't even bothered to learn how to import CS yet. I'm workin on it though, meh. I don't even know where to start. I know there are stickies, but there's so much out there that I don't even know where to start for what I'm looking for.

EDIT - Most notably, I need to know tricks to build stuff higher. I vaguely remember seeing the with CTRL or something somewhere, but I can't find it for the life of me now.

Mini update for anyone who cares:

I'm still having TONS of trouble getting anything up high (i'm using the module method outlined in a tutorial somewhere on here, mostly).

I managed to finally get the Mirage done though, at least the outer shell. Most of these casino/hotels do actually have a large flat layer where the actual casino is, and I may end up adding those when/if I build an actual park, but for now, I'm just focussing on the hotel part, the most recognizable part.

Still using only the in-game scenery, so this is a little crude.

All feedback is appreciated:

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/5941/mirageps3.jpg

It really all depends on lighting, the Sun needs to hit the building for the white and the gold to show properly. I haven't figured out how to add lighting other than path lights yet either.

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/8623/mirage2in8.jpg

As you guys can see in this one, the colour just isn't the same without the good lighting. There is a way to add lights, etc, right?

Also, since I'm using only the in-game scenery so far, I couldn't do the diagonal section. The hotel, from the top, should look like a Y, with the front being a 90 degree angle, and the 3rd wing shooting off with a wider angle on both sides. I had to do it like this, and I'm not very happy with that, but not much I can do at this point, I don't think.

http://www.hotels.com/hotels/LAS_MIRA-exter-1.jpg

Best pic I could find, but it shows the front section best.

Again, all feedback/help appreciated.

Oh, also, there should be a lot of cool stuff that can be done with the Mirage once/if I actually build a park, as there's a dolphin show, and I'm sure there's something I could use for the dome thing at the front, as well as a lot of scenery that could make a perfect volcano show for the front.

Cheers,

- Zach

UH those look nice Zach. But they have a rule you can't post twice in a row or 3 times. I got my knuckles hit with a ruler when I tried that so better get ready, That is some great work , To get things up high try hold left shift , Then push forward mouse. You really should start a thread in the parks section or one of the moderators will move this there.Keep working and the custom scenery stuff can realy improve the options for realistic pieces that you will find you need

Welcome to the forums Zach...
Since there are a lot of stickies around, I would advise to just start reading them. Though you already know how to post images, I would look at this (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464091) sticky. I've pointed several members to it because being in the Main CC it is often overlooked...

So you've only had the game for a week? Your buildings already look better than mine did after a couple of months...

Yeah, someone move this please, I'd rather not start a bunch of new threads, which is also the reason I posted 3 times in a row or whatever.

Thanks for the feedback, anyways.

Does anyone know if there's a casino themed custom scenery set anywhere out there?

I did just go through everything in the sticky in the CS forum, but wondering if anyone else had any ideas?

I am pretty sure that there isn't a lot of casino stuff yet. I think that moby made a couple things.

Ya, that's all I've found at this point as well, but it doesn't look like he's actually released anything. =/

I was working on the interior of the Mirage today, and I'm hopin I can find some stuff somewhere, as I have absolutely no ability to create my own, lol.

Check out Moby's arcade pack, the V1 Download is up! He has some arcade games, 5 different slot varients, and other things. If you need some help putting together the casino, I'm going to attempt it a little later, and I'll PM you on how it turns out.
