View Full Version : Spanky's Structures Thread - renamed for my new park-project

I start this new thread in thge structures-menue, because I show here only a few buildings, that I have designed for my next park project.

If you maybe know, I have build "China" and "Paris" in my last park project. Unfortunatly the game crashed, because of the lag, a major problem in RCT3.
But I have learned my lessons: I build any part of my parks on seperate smaller maps. This make it also easier to handle. I also build most of the buildings for my park as seperate models, that I can place into the landscape like I want it. Because I know about the size of the finished models, I can make a plan on paper and see how I could place the buildings later in the real park. It could happen, that you see buildings from different maps in this thread.

Okay, lets start. One section in my next park project should be my country:

- GERMANY -

This is a typical house, that you can find in a lot of older german cities, with a medieval core.

^ Thanks to Eezee for the weathercock. Also many thanks to Shyguy, The_Cook, Iceatcs, DasMatze, Aceana and Lucky Girl for their scenery.

http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/6784/germany002wa5.jpg

^ A view from another angle. All pictures show just the unfinished version. A few details are not finished yet.

http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/94/germany003mc6.jpg

^ A view on the detailed framework. The beam with the clam-decor is part of my upcoming Wild West Additions-Set.

Comments are always welcome.

WOW! Love it Spanky! Very impressive. I did the exact same process on my current park too, much easier to build something on a lag-free bench and then save it and add it in one swope to your park. Looking forward to what you come up with on this thread!

Oooh, somebody has actually used the curved and rickety beams...

From a engineering realism perspective the ground floor bay window needs something to support that entire corner of the building. I would also have expected some small windows at floor level to let light into a cellar, but I don't know if there are the scenery pieces within ShyGuys sets to do that properly.

All in all, a really impressive piece of work.

I don't think, that it could have problems with the static. As you see on the picture below, a lot of this old houses have this form :) :

Thank you very very much for this constructive words. First of all, your curved and rickety beams are a more than useful addition. I just think, that a lot of users here didn't know, that they exist. Personally I would like to have some more beams like this, especially for curved towers (hint).

Could you explain what kind of supports are needed for the bay-window? Maybe in a sketch or pic (PM). I agreed with you also about the small windows for the cellar. I think, to make them by myself. I have also an idea to build them with another released set.

I have made also an rusty iron decoration part, that I will add in the next days.

The bay windows themselves don't need support, but from a structural perspective they wouldn't be strong enough to support the stone and timber above, especially given the additional weight that the jettying would put on that corner. If you were building this in real life you would need some form of pillar in the corner where the two bay windows join to support the weight above, either stone or heavy timber.

I don't think, that a windmill look cool. I will add a windmill later to this set and you will see, how a real windmill must look to be look cool.

I have added some supports to the window bay and some windows on the floor for a little light in the cellar.

Hi Spanky. For some reason I only stumbled upon your previous Spanky World thread today as I was browsing. I am very very impressed, especially with your China areas. The main street was outstanding, but the China area really shows the thought and research and creativity that you put into your building. I had the impression that most people thought Chinese buildings were just a lot of red walls before stumbling upon your thread. I'm glad you proved me wrong.

And it seems that your genius continues in this new thread. Very detailed and very real. I can hardly wait for you to put everything together into a park.

I wasn't really satisfied with the gatehouse, it doesn't breathe that medievil touch, that I want. So I have build a new gatehouse, inspired by a picture from a gatehouse in Rothenburg o.d. Tauber in Germany.

http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/1367/germany007xo5.jpg

^ The new gatehouse match also the style of the old winehouse.

http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/1686/germany008tf9.jpg

^ Peeps can walk on the gangway and have a better overview over the place. The entrance to the gangway is the small brown door.

http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/1217/germany009qf3.jpg

^ Another view on the new old gatehouse with the big clock.

I'm really satisfied with this gatehouse, hope you like it too.

Thank you once again for all the kind comments.

I have the pleasure to test eeZee's Haunted Mansion. Most of the parts in thi set are diagonal pieces, so it's a perfect set to fill a corner. I have create an townhall building with this set and I'm very satisfied with the result. Hope you like it too.

I would also like to thank The_Cook for his diagonal pieces in his vaulting sets.

I really cannot comment much ... It's almost perfect.
It's wondeful to see what can be achieved with the diagonal parts.
Lets just hope more diagonal bits and pieces will become available soon, so you can have the same amount of detail in the diagonal building(s) as for your "normal" absolutely spanky-tastic buildings.

Thank you too. Your wish is my command. Here's a little update:

A new old building for another corner. This is now the final entrance-building for the planned ride in my next park.

http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/6563/germany014lw5.jpg

The entry on the right side of the buiding is the entrance to the queue.

http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/9910/germany015jd2.jpg

The entrance-room (ignore that little picture on the wall, it's only a placeholder ... but maybe a little hint for another upcoming project too)

http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/729/germany016us8.jpg

The peeps can only left the ride through this little shop in the left part of the building.

http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/2851/germany017ej5.jpg

This is the small room for the later queue. In the background you can see the test-ride

http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/4536/germany018qm7.jpg

The park-inspector on the way to the ride.

http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/5098/germany019vq6.jpg

A little overview of the old german village. Unfortunatly the large door to the first floor (see first pic in this post) from Shyguy's Alpine Village Set 3 disappears very fast, when you zoom out. Maybe Shyguy can fix it someday.

http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/2667/germany019jk3.jpg

This is a WIP-picture of a fountain, that I made for the place.

Thank you very much. The reason, why it isn't in the parks forum is, that the buildings are currently just structures. That means, i have build each building seperate and can use this builduings like models in my upcoming park. The picture you see above is not the version how it will look later on in the park. It' s just a testscreen, to se if the buildings are work together or if I must change something.

Thank you very much. I want give you the compliments back for your graet MGM-Studios. I really love how you create the buildings so close to the real ones. I hope you have nothing against it, when I use some of your ideas for my next Shrek Park. The game crashes always when I build on too big maps. The maps are always loaded, but they crashed when I try to build a little more. Sometimes I think, if any RCT3 user would pay 1 Dollar for Frontier to pay them to fix the engine ... that could help with all this game crashing bugs.

BTW: I can announce today, that I have start to build my new park (which will include this buildings). I have played around with all the new sets and I'm more than satisfied with the results. Pictures soon.

Yes, that's right. But that's a special date ... on this day we celebrate in Germany the unity of West- and East-Germany. And that's a little hint for the park too.

Absolutely fabulous. If somebody had shown me these pics elsewhere without the RCT3 peeps, I would never have guessed they were taken in RCT3.

Was the diagonal building made with Eezee's HM set? Has that set been released yet? And what happened to Eezee, anyway?

A little hint? As if we didn't know you were going to make a germany-themed land in your Spanky's World!

Thank you very much. It's really astonishing, what's possible in RCT3 and I'm always surprised too, when I playing around with all the different objects, walls etc.

Yes, that's eezee's HM-Pieces. I'm happy, that I could test them, but unfortunatly he hasn't release this set. I've didn't hear from him too and I hope he's fine.

So eezee, my dear, if you read this, give us a lifesign, please.

Oooooh... okay. :D

Maybe .. we will see. But your homecountry is also on my list for an area in Spanky's World.
