View Full Version : Caldera Park Challenge

Awfully quiet in this section. Here's a little scenario based on an extinct island volcano. This scenario requires the Soaked expansion.

Do you have another link to use for download?

Temporary outage as I move to a new host. I should have it back up later to night. The RT3 stuff was kinda low on the priorities. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Files are online for the moment. As my new host and I sort out some problems, these files may be intermitently available for a day or two.

Dont double post
But looks ok.

02-19-2008, 02:23 PM
If you read carefully you would see that I didn't double post. The second was an update.

MajorEvent, thanks for the update. I got it just a minute ago so I'll be trying it out today.

RaptorKid, don't be rude.

Greetings Bizzy!

Hope you like it. This particular scenario I considered more of a physical building challenge and so there aren't a lot of arbitrary goals to it.

I've added a top page to http://rct3.kdroberts.com also. I'll post links to all my RCT3 downloads on the top page. Contact the webmaster (it's me) if you need a host for your own RCT3 files. My {KART} download (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=500399) has been available since 2005.

Looks interesting. FYI, a double post is where you make a post, followed by another post with no one else posting in between. In general, double posts are frowned upon, what is recommended is to edit your previous post.

I think I will check this out, terraforming looks pretty good.

Greetings Lazslo!

FYI, a double post is where you make a post, followed by another post with no one else posting in between.

Here's the definition I use, from the Urban Dictionary: A double post is two posts in a row that can be made into one post, but the person decides to post it in two separate posts. IOW, disregard for the Edit button or a bump.

Then again, I could argue definitions too. Another definition (from the urban dictionary) is two posts, in succession, in a forum topic created by the same person that say the exact same thing.

Still, as far as you go, I agree. But, you don't really go far enough. It's really a matter of whether the second post is a revision of the first. And, I would argue, time and importance is a factor too. Important changes or ones that occur significantly after the original should get a separate post. I simply felt the update was important enough to separate. My judgement and I stand by it. First post: files not available, second: available with exceptions.

Why either of you would bring such a thing up is beyond me. In a section that has so few posts, it's hardly an issue. You should both be ashamed to even bring it up. It's downright unfriendly.

I haven't had a chance to play yours yet but I promise I'll get to it. I've been working on my newest scenario that I'll be releasing over on Vodhin's site once he reopens it so that's been consuming my time for the most part.

I do have 2 scenarios that I relased recently. If you'd like to check them out I'll send you the links for them via PM.

Greetings Bizzy!

I noted your Hells Fury scenario posted in this section. You certainly go into a lot more detail than I did. Mine's mostly a fairly simple teraforming effort (and the high mountain can be a real PITA with the camera view). If it works out for you I hope you'll post a picture of your park using the scenario for me to see.

I hope you'll post your scenarios in the forum same as Hell's Fury rather than PM'ing but either way, I'd love to check out your scenarios. You're welcome to share your files from my webspace until your other situation is sorted out. (Just hit the webmaster link at the bottom of the http://RCT3.kdroberts.com page and shoot me an email and we can set something up.)

Looks really good. Your terraforming is great.
That was a double post. A double post is considered the smae person posting 2 times in a row without anyone in between. Its a rule here at Atari Forums that you dont doublw post. You may only double post in certain forums. Just to let you know.

Greetings simtanic8!

That was a double post. A double post is considered the smae person posting 2 times in a row without anyone in between.

I disagree. You add nothing new but your opinion and you left out part of the relevant section:

3. Double Posting: This is known as sequential replies, or posting two replies in a row. Please allow other users to reply before post again. If you forgot something in your original post, please use the edit function to avoid adding to the database.

I did not forget anything. the information changed and Bizzy asked for the file and would not have been notified of an Edit. An edit was not appropriate to the situation. A separate post was.

Here's another part of the TOS that could apply to your behavior: Trolling (Inciting flames) - Messages intended solely to annoy and/or offend other users by going against the clear nature of a board, topic or chat room are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: provoking other users to respond with flames; provoking fans of a particular system or game, especially on boards or topics dedicated to that system or game; making misleading topic titles; asking obviously useless questions; and posting false information as fact.

This topic is a scenario topic. Further posting on this off topic issue of whether I double posted in my thread will be reported as trolling. If I was out of line, I will be warned by the moderators, otherwise it's not the place of any other member to criticize me. You're entitled to your opinion but don't post about it here.

End of story.

Looking good  I won't comment on the posting :D just stick around, it'll stop soon :) I'll get back to you when I get a chance to play it.

02-27-2008, 06:51 PM
I sent you a PM MajorEvent. Let me know what you think.

02-28-2008, 10:33 AM

I won't comment on the posting

Thank goodness for that! ;D

I'll get back to you when I get a chance to play it.

If it works out, I hope you'll post a picture so I can see. (As you can see in the pictures,) I tried to keep things manageable by terracing the terrain in a spiral around the caldera.

I sent you a PM

Got it! I'll keep trying for the scenarios as Vodhin updates.

Major Event,

I finally had a chance to play your park and it's very nice! Keep up the good work!

I released a new park over on Vodhin's site. Check it out if you get a chance to get over there. It's not in the downloads section but rather in the new creations section of the forum. I haven't been able to upload any of my work to his site yet for some reason.
