Hello I'm making a CFR of Zamperla Demolition Derby

Here are some pictures

I don't know how to animate and also don't know how to make a ride of it but I hope i will learn it fast.

Also textures need to be done which also is a bit tricky.

:haha: foolish mortal

have you ever even imported normal scenery at all? by the looks of it although i have never seen the ride) it would be hell to animate anyway.

since it is a disney ride i doubt many people would use it anyway, unless it is for recreations, so in other words, not very much at all.

it seems you do not have any understanding of making rides at all so dont expoect anyone to jump up and help you learn :haha:

Well i do know how to import and I've already done that sometimes, but those scenery was just for myself so i never posted it, I have done a lot of animating but never did it with blender, I used to make 3d movies. For creating the ride itself it wouldn't be my biggest consider because I've read the tutorial from belgabor.

You said nobody would use it because it is an disney ride and it would only be used for recreations but i will make it pretty generic, you can only see it is from cars because of the eyes on the windscreen. The ride wil just be a Zamperla Demolition Derby which is found in many other themeparks aswell, normally also car themed.

I'm working on the textures at the moment so you will see how generic it is when it is ready.

I'm currently also looking for an animation tutorial from blender to know how this works :P

By the way Stu, I really like your madhouse :P

belgabor i didn't think it looked that easy from the pic lol

*watches YT video*

OMG thats like, impossible isnt it?

anyway, who would put that in their park lol? however genric it is :haha: i wouldnt really call it a flat ride as such.. its half crossed between a specialist ride and teacups..

no offence whatsoever, but i hope you are good with textures;) the cars seem to look a lot like boxes with seats at the moment

i dont think the ride really needs the box at the bottom or the circles, the floor would do

I've ridden one of these (only 2 turntables- Tea Cups at Seabreeze), and I would NEVER try to animate. And are you using SketchUp? Good luck, though.

sketchup and blender

If you finish this, you're master of animating.

wel you sure have my respect, we were recreating the Efteling but we kind of stopped it because of the lack of some rides, now you make the most important missing one available.

*edit:

Well I'm someone who can learn very fast ;), already taught myself how to animate in blender. You are forgetting that I have a lot of experience but just not with the programs needed for RCT3 CS.

*edit again:

Only discovered the problem that some faces aren't showing anymore when it is imported in Blender, can someone help me with this, Blender looks a little confusing to me :bored:

How did you export/import?
I suggest using my ase script and then import with Goofos ASE import (google it). Then select all vertices and "Remove Doubles".
To get the lighting right, use the EdgeSplit modifier (mini-tutorial on my Blender CS tips page, see signature).

Completely agreed! ^^

I too have ridden this and another 2 rides of this criss crossing tea-cups attraction and it will be a right pain to get this to animate. Although i thought of a way of using 2 bones per car to make it work maybe but that would possibly loose the car spinning:noob:

Also- I wouldn't advice making cars race rally. How many of peoples parks would really want a disney ride with this perticluar theme in it and (FYI "Cars is a copyrighted character) . I would say change the cars to something more generic.

-Edit- I just noticed on your model i think you have two many cars. it should be an uneven number or they will crash on the switch. And The turntables could be sqaures with alpha circles instead making them loose the octagonal appearance.

should be impressive when it's done, will the cars be more generic than obvious Disney ones? texture wise that is.

To be honest, I think most people wouldn't like to have "Speed Racer" written on the car. It would cause the same problem as the RCT3 rides like the Rotor that have lettering already on them- if you don't want to name your ride "Rotor", you can't really use it. It's your choice, though. :) Looks great!

I actually think the same but the ride was pretty plain when we had it removed.

Is it possible to ad a billboard to the ride, this will solve this problem?
and I found an other problem, when I imported my model in blender my textures are missing is this ok?

I don't think anybody tried yet, so you'll have to test.
The missing textures are no problem, just open and reassign them in Blender if you need to see them. You'll have to finally assign them in the Importer anyways.

so it's possible to create in sketchup and animate in blender? because i know some blender with animation now and would love to make a CFR someday. but if i can model in sketchup than it will be easier for me to do

That's basically what I've done, you'll have to do SOME editing in Blender first though.

I was wondering if there were different types of animation because in Belgabors tutorial and imagineer john mentioned in this forum, a way of animating with effect bones. I'm animating without effect bones and stuff but with keyframes, I followed this tutorial on how to do this, hopefully this is ok because it isn't that hard to animate: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=FAZFfLmbD2k

Thank you in advance,

Markmarkje

*edit:

I was also wondering how you can make multiple animations, like te rest, startup, loop and ending animation. will that just be one file or should I save the animations all to different files.

yea, like I found I had twice of some of the seats in exactly the same place when I loaded my CFR into blender :bulb: and adding Armatures....

^Effect bones are for the peeps, and insepction points e.t.c, they're a MUST.

No, that's object animation, this type of animation will not work. Review the flatride tutorial, the correct type of animation and how to do multiple ones is written there.
