View Full Version : [WIP][HLP]CFR Mini Himalaya Hopefully Coming Soon :) See Post 36

08-21-2008, 06:54 PM
Hey everyone, I said I would never post any projects on here again for personal reason but as it seems I have been very inspired to try my had at CS and at CFR. This will be my very first project like this and I plan on taking my time on it. I see alot of great projects out there and I finally wanted to contribute instead of just doing parks. So please be very patient with me as well give me good imput. I am open to ideas....remember I am keeping it simple as I am learning.... So here are my first 2 photo's of hopefully soon to come "Mini Himalaya"... I have already started working my way around with textures as well but like I said I am taking my time as I want it to come out right. So here ya go and enjoy!!!

Here is the begining stages of the "Himalaya Car". I will add more textures later...but I wanted to give you a preview so far. I have not put the lap bar in just yet...due to not knowing how to go about it. But hopefully I will figure it out.
I have been working on this for a few days I have to admit I was inspired by Stu's upcoming "Techno Jump".....so here is where I am at the moment. There is still tons of tweaks and alot of adjustments to be made. I just wanna make sure I am taking the right path befor I get too deep into the project...lol. But that's all for now... I am gonna go look around for some good textures and reference pics....so enjoy hopefull I will get this working sometime down the line :) Let me know what you think..ENJOY!!!

08-21-2008, 07:27 PM
No offence but that is way to many ploy, like the sphere in the center and the karts have cruves in it.

08-21-2008, 07:30 PM
so if i take the curves off the cars and rework the sphere will i be in a better spot? I just wanna make sure im going in the right direction so imput is important to me.

08-21-2008, 08:14 PM
By all means attempt this, but Custom Flat Rides are not a good thing to start with!!

I can only suggest what's been suggested, and that's to watch the polygon count. Sketchup is very bad at making low-poly models so be careful.

08-21-2008, 10:52 PM
yeah i reworked everything...like i said im trying to make it simple as possible. I am 32 years old....so and I got to learn some how...so if I make a few mistakes along the way then I just got to pick up and move on and make it work.... so here ya go I reworked the car.
More then likely the car will not get anymore details then that...so what you see is what you get. However, I still want to add a few more textures but I am not gonna go over board. I learned that less is more...lol. Now as for the done that you saw in the second pic is now gone. I am gonna rework that section and I should have an update on that tomorrow hopefull. Also I wanna mention that the runner you saw on the side of the car is still there I just reworked it too and made it a whole lot better. You will see more tomorrow. I am gonna stay positive about this project and my goal is to get this released....so it may take some time...but when and if it gets released hopefully everyone will enjoy it. That's all for now :)

08-21-2008, 11:54 PM
Looks better, but you see the line in the right part of the car? Delete it and it will remove 2 polys. Are you going to make the whole canvas building, and the murals on the walls? Thats going to be very tough to do.

08-22-2008, 12:26 AM
no im not doing the structure..... im keeping it simple as possible. i am gonna make it good enough to enjoy.

08-22-2008, 12:32 AM
Make the restraints alpha textures. Will save a lot of polygons.

08-22-2008, 02:08 AM
:haha: inspired by me eh? :p

08-22-2008, 04:27 AM
Yay Himalaya!!! lol Stu thanks!

08-22-2008, 12:00 PM
Hey everyone I am back once again as I promised yesterday. I have to tell you Stu was not lying when he said you can get addicted and end up breaking night on a project such as this...lol. I got alot accomplished last night as there is still tons of tweaks to be made. I am just messing around with textures for the time being....doesn't mean what you see will be staying. But here is an update.... enjoy!!!
There are 16 cars and I am gonna try to set it to where you can get 2 to 3 people per car....but we will see what happens.
A bit of a closer view...... still have to work out some things but you have the general idea. I do have a questions though....

* How can I check to see how many polly's im using so far in sketchup? Like I mentioned I wanna make sure I am on the right track.

* Should I add the platform or should I just do without it?

08-22-2008, 12:29 PM
1. plugins -> ase export -->export (shows faces, same thing really)

2. what platform? if you mean raising it slightly, dont bother, more work + more polygons

when did i ever say it was adictive? lol

08-22-2008, 01:57 PM
Hey Stu...lol well you did say that if getting into CFR projects its long hours and time consuming...lol and it is true...it can be a pain in the rear...lol. Ok maybe I worded it wrong...but it's addictive...lol. I think I have spent about a total of 12 hours on this already in the past 3 days...lol. But thanks for the inspiration let alone the info bro. I appreciate it very much. It a pleasure to learn from the best....lol. Here is an update.

Ok I think I am done messing with this for today... I am gonna take the rest of the weekend to relax...lol. As for the platform I think I am gonna take Stu's advice and not put it in.... As you can see above I added the canvas that connect between the arms of each car. I am not set on colors yet...but we will see let me know what you think :) So enjoy!!!

P.S By the way all together this is what I got for this ride...let me know if this is good or bad. I am thinking it's good. Well let's hope it's good..lol. What is the limit for RCT3???
EDGES: 3794
FACES: 1651

08-22-2008, 02:05 PM
holy crap you got me excited when i saw your name on here long time no see and this looks great awesome job

08-22-2008, 04:40 PM
Looks good, only thing is there should be cars in those spaces.

Keep up the good work

08-22-2008, 10:04 PM
^ Yeah, I agree. I love the progress so far but there is too much space between the cars.

08-22-2008, 11:20 PM
lookin good and how do i take pics ni sketchup im makeing a cfr id like to show to everone.

08-22-2008, 11:45 PM
hey guys thanks for the comments... well the space between the cars will change...I am gonna make the arms that hold the beams shorter so I will be able to pull them in more and close in the space....hopefully that will take down the poly count as well. If the poly count is ok then I will keep it as is otherwise if I have to sacrfice I may have to cut it down from 16 cars to either 10 or 12...but we will see what happens. But if I can get around it and cut details elsewhere then I will have to do what I have to do. But remember this is still in the very early stages....this is nowhere close to be done just yet.

As for how to take pics in sketchup you have to hit "Print Screen" to take a pic.

08-23-2008, 12:16 AM
that or hit export than 2d in jepg and easyer than hit print and copy past in paint.

Shortening a poly won't reduce it, but this CFR looks fabulous!
Interesting choice of flat ride! :noob:

08-23-2008, 07:16 AM
Doesn't this ride has hills in it?

Coaster Freak
08-23-2008, 10:53 AM
Yup! They do have hills... And we already have it in the game lol...

08-23-2008, 11:15 AM
i like these rides there fun. but the hanging onei lole more buti tryed to animate it and it hard to do.

08-23-2008, 12:23 PM
Looking great. I reserve final judgment until you get the hills in and the facade.

08-23-2008, 03:37 PM
yes doing it with a hill isent easy on sketchup. trying to have it go up and turn.

08-23-2008, 03:43 PM
lol thanks everyone...lol calm down it's ok remember this is in the very early stages. it will have hills i just want to make sure the poly's are good before moving on. I hope by some time next week thinking maybe the end I should have alot of this sorted out. I may need some help but I wanna do it on my own first. I wanna see how much I can get done on my own before asking for help. So we will see. The best way to learn is to experiment on my own. So wish me luck...lol Now when adding the hills which means I may need to add a very small platform....I will work on it either tomorrow or Monday cuz I am heading out to a family party tonight...lol wooo hooo I need a few beers...lol. By the way thanks for the reference pics Arthur I sure can use them...lol.

08-23-2008, 05:15 PM
Lol Arthurrtje jij ook hier!

Greeting someone from a dutch RCT forum.

I like the ride like it is rightnow but what is it gonna do is it just gonna twist or is it gonna do a movement what looks like the one Atrhurr showed but without the whole structure around it?

08-24-2008, 06:39 AM
Great project, looks amazing!

08-24-2008, 05:24 PM
thanks everyone... i been making major tweaks to the ride... and i am gonna try a few things and see how it works out and go from there. i will bring you photo's tomorrow.

08-25-2008, 04:59 AM
^ Thanks and btw we all cant wait. Keep going no this one!

08-25-2008, 11:58 AM
Lol Arthurrtje jij ook hier!

On: looking forward to the next update.

08-25-2008, 12:39 PM
Hey everyone as I promised I would be back with another update.... I was gonna take the weekend to relax but I only took Saturday to relax and spent time with the family...then yesterday practically took the whole day and was deleting poly's and trying my hand at the platform. Also I realized I can take more poly's out of the car. I did some already from each car... but if need be I definetly still can do more. I kind of like the platform but we will see if it says or not. I read the tutorial and from what I understand is that you are allowed 1000 to 3000 poly's anything over that you will need LOD so it wont disappear... so with that I am gonna try a few things. So here is an update on what I accomplished this past weekend.
Here is bit closer look at the car designs...
Below you see one of the hills that are part of the ride... I tried to keep it very simple. I do not know if I will keep some of the textures u see.. if I can find something better then I will go with that. But we will see.
Lastly I added the barriers for the ride...
Once I check the final details and see if I have to delete more poly's I will do so being I know where to take them from. But once I get that straight all I will need to do is focus on final textures and then move this project into blender and focus on animation. So that's all for this update everyone...enjoy!!!

08-25-2008, 12:50 PM
Wow.. I didnt even know you could make your own rides and upload them into the game XD Great work! Love the design

08-25-2008, 01:25 PM
Lovely textures. Keep it up.

08-25-2008, 01:25 PM
CFR's are around for i think almost 3/4 of a year now.

Looking good like it actually this is gonna be a killer of a CFR!

08-25-2008, 09:23 PM
Hey everyone I made the textures on the side wall of the ride bigger and it looks alot better...also i changed the colors of the arms...what you see here will be the final version. Now I need to figure out how to import it into Blender. Now I am officially looking for some help... anyone who would like to help out who knows what they are doing can work together on the rest of the project would be cool... if you have instant messenger PM me and we will go from there. In return I will be happy to help design rides if I can find someone who knows how to work blender and work together.... that's all for now...so till then I will figure it out on my own... so what you see below is the final version of the ride.... all that needs to be done is animation :) see ya soon HOPEFULLY!!! lol.

08-25-2008, 09:25 PM
This actually looks very promising, but animating might be alitlle hard, Good Luck!

08-25-2008, 09:27 PM
When I first saw this, I thought it was a lost cause, but this is turning out really great! The textures are really good, keep it up!

08-25-2008, 09:37 PM
no actually i have some experience in doing this from college but it was like 10 years ago...lol so i thought i would try my hand at it and contribute...lol but thanks it wont be a lost cause...lol

08-25-2008, 10:17 PM
Looks like progress is better, thanks for the update.

08-26-2008, 05:27 PM
Thanks :)

08-27-2008, 12:57 PM
Thanks for the update DJ and i have got to say that this is amazing so far.

08-27-2008, 01:09 PM
Lol Arthurrtje jij ook hier!

Tis hier echt vol gedumpt met NLers :haha:

Really nice made! on the left side (from the last picture) you could make it a bit smoother,, it looks a little pointy (with all those pointy floors..)

And could you make the sides (the walls..) a normal texture.. that weird texture ruins the model !
Would be alot helpfuller with normal textures..

Hello There This One My Favorite Ride. Cool I Can't For This My Game RCT3. MaryAnn

Hi there, one of the rules is not to double post.. at the bottom of your first post, there will be a button with 'EDIT' on it.. click on that and then you can add to your original post rather than making another one.

And no, I'm not saying this because you are female and deaf.. :p

Anyway, nice progress, sir! I'll be interested to see how the complicated stuff goes for you!

08-27-2008, 03:33 PM
he is actually saying it becouse he is jealous :p

08-27-2008, 03:49 PM
Hey everyone, thanks for the great comments...and by the way please DO NOT DOUBLE POST...there is an edit botton like mentioned above.

Now moving on I am happy to say that last night I was up untill 4am reworking the ride platform and it came out much better. Also after many hours of research I got the model into blender however, the textures did not follow into blender. i tried to group the texture items but i think im doing something wrong. I also messed around with the animation a bit and starting to slowly get an idea of how it works. my question today is how can i get the arms and the cars to go at the same time? do i have to animated each one seperately or is there a way to have it work at once??? advise would be greatly appreciated :) thanks in advance!!!

08-28-2008, 02:05 PM
really nice!

08-28-2008, 02:16 PM
I just wanted to know if you was going to put a roof on it or make it indoors because i think it would be good to do it.

08-28-2008, 02:17 PM
Dont do that please if i wanna have a roof on it I build it myself the version in the game itself has a roof!

08-28-2008, 03:48 PM
Hey everyone ok....the other day I went in and redid the whole platform around the ride...I cut down a few hundred poly's that were not needed. Also some of you said you did not like the textures ...so I did another texture which you will see below. Let me know which texture you like better the first or the second...just look above a few posts and compare which one interest you more. I need to know so I can retransfer the ride to blender.

As for a roof to the ride no there will not be a roof. I am trying to get rid of poly's I dont wanna add and make it worse. here is what I started with

Edges (3794)
Faces (1651)

Edges (2703)
Faces (992)

I will see if I can get rid of a few more...but here is the updated pic...ENJOY!!!

08-28-2008, 03:58 PM
I think you should do music texture to match the car .

08-28-2008, 04:12 PM
Can you give us a close up of the car im seeing a texture on it but cant really see what it is? It looks good time to animate!

08-28-2008, 04:14 PM
I'm no expert in custom scenery, but that seems like a lot of faces. I think if you made some things alphas, like the lap restraint, the faces would go down.

08-28-2008, 05:10 PM
how do i make the lap bars alpha's?

08-28-2008, 05:13 PM
how do i make the lap bars alpha's?

I've made custom scenery for personal use, but I never dealt with alphas before. All I know is that if used right, they can drastically lower your poly count. I believe that Dasmatze has made a tutorial on it, you should check it out.

08-29-2008, 12:52 PM
thanks i will have to look into it about the alpha's. but i am happy to say little by little im making progress...lets just keep our fingers crossed :)

08-29-2008, 01:43 PM
The Model is coming together nicely!.

Just one problem i see: You are going to have more then 30 meshes for sure. as the number of cars x2 for the restraints exceeds 30 meshes not including the base and and the arms.

So you may want to wait for the newer importer to come out for when you come to importing this in game:up:

08-29-2008, 05:16 PM
thanks imagineer john appreciate that... when is the new importer suppose to come out? im still messing around with basic animation. it's a pain in the butt messing around with bones...lol. specially trying to get rotations to work....damn it...lol i will be ok i will just have to experiment....but thanks john ur inspirational words keep me motivated...lol.

08-31-2008, 01:14 PM
this looks like a great ride

09-09-2008, 08:46 AM
I hope there is update soon of this amazing ride because it does look great.

09-09-2008, 09:21 AM
This looks incredible! But have you animated yet with Blender? It's very hard program to use.

09-09-2008, 09:57 AM
@Joey5: You don't have to animate in Blender. It's possible to animate with xml files written by hand, too.

@djfriktion: The faces SketchUp shows are less than the model really has. The correct number is only shown by the ASE exporter and the importer.

09-09-2008, 08:58 PM
hey everyone, sorry i have not come by to update u like i did the other site... however, i am taking a break cuz there was a death in the family a few days ago. my 39 year old cousin passed away from cancer so i have been spending time with family. but i will get back to this as soon as i can....just please be patient.

as for have i even animated in blender the answer is no never before but i have done alot of experimenting and reading tons of tutorials.....so it's helping...its just ALOT of work. I will do my best to get back to this...but please be patient....

09-09-2008, 09:05 PM
Deepest condolences djfriktion, sympathies to you and your family, that's really so sad to hear. Take all the time away you need - family comes first right now.

09-09-2008, 09:21 PM
Very sad, indeed. Take as much time as you need.

09-09-2008, 09:26 PM
Cancer Sucks. Period

09-09-2008, 09:28 PM
You're asking for people to be patient? I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't be...

09-10-2008, 08:45 AM
I am sorry about your lost djfriktion, my sympathies to you and your family, that's really so sad to hear. Take all the time away you need - family comes first right now.

09-10-2008, 01:27 PM
Isn't this the Thunder Bobs flat ride?

10-12-2008, 10:37 PM
hey everyone, i just wanted to come by and let ya know im back its been tough few weeks....but im back now to give this more attention. this project has been a bit of a pain....i have not given up on this project....it may take me some time.... i have been offered a hand by someone but they have not responded back to me.... so i am gonna do some messing around with this....and see if i can also work on something a bit simpler untill i can get this project moving. so anyone who would like to assist i would be happy to send u the file only if u know what u are doing... i dont want someone to take this project and say they can help and mess up all my hard work. i think once this ride if functional i think it will be a great addition to CFR. So understand I have a few projects going on plus work....so give me some time :)

10-22-2008, 03:23 AM
Picture just look like Reverchon Explorer.

The mini-himalaya is great for wisdom himalaya but need a hill shaped circle.

10-29-2008, 08:34 PM
Is this ride still being made or are you just busy if you are just busy take your time no rush.;)

10-29-2008, 08:51 PM

I got told that djfriktion is busy building his new park that he is doing so i think this one will be on-hold for awhile.

10-29-2008, 08:53 PM
Oh ok thanks for answering.:)

09-05-2009, 09:07 PM
Is this 4 RCT3 platinum if its not i cant use it and that will suck :cry::cry:

09-05-2009, 10:02 PM
Oh last year thread about CFR as himalaya ride
