I made a Trackedrides for you, it is called mine train and uses the wooden wild mine icon :)

If my expedition everest car isnt perfect its because i never been on the ride and it was hard for me to find a good shot of the cars :)

I recommend checking how high the face count is. Many of the things you are modelling can be done with alphas instead.

Didnt check the faces after the handle bars. And i just saw that i should really do those in alphatextures, they took 2000 polys :eek:

yep ;) i cut away 3000 polys so now the count is normal again :) 357 :)

/\ No they aren't reversed. Something that would help dramatically before texturing the sides is to smooth them.

Nope because the second picture down on the second update is white. The shaded white on the first picture though kinda makes you wonder but it is okay.

You are probably right, they may be some reversed faces, but im still trying to figure how to make them go away :) when i get some to dissapere i forget how i did it :bulb:

EDIT: Im a noob ;S;S;S rightclick - reverse faces.. Did i just make a complete foul out of myself :(?
does somebody have a guide to alpha textures ? i found one but i cant remember where ?..

EDIT EDIT: just a quick update, didnt want to waste a post on that..
I redid some of the car. this will probably be the final result. Upper walls and seats have been lowered.

Well im going to use a wooden recolorable texture. and then for the ironframes around the train im going to use another recolorable texture. so that will make 2 recolorable colors :)

What i need to do now is to get the car in blender so i can create the effectpoints and then it should be ready to install :)

EDIT: I cant import the model to blender since i cant install pyton.. what do i do ? ;S

Finally a reply :D

I have some texture problems so i will only make the iron frames recolorable. i had a recolorable wood texture wich just got blue in game (the texture is pink in sketchup, wich is color 2 in game) and then the steel bars had a plain texture wich got tan yellow (it was blue original, wich is color 1 in game).

Just an small update for you. now this car has been on its way for some time, i havent had the time to do very much so i just quickly imported it in to the game. some of the stuff is still annoying me though

As you can see the handle bars can be seen from behind but not in front. and the X frame in front is kinda fading away ;s

now for a question to a CTR pro. Can the effect points be created in sketchup or do i have to import in blender and then make the effect points ?

Final update before release ( i hope)

I made the effectbones but and they work brilliant. i might have to move the onride camera a little bit up and i have to make the LOD's more far away.

Im having some problems with the coaster it kinda "drifts" around the track, and the wheels in the back doesnt touch the track at all ?

You need to define the wheel bones more percisely. You need four for this one, too.

Also, the carfront and carrear are what connects the cars together (I think)- their positions determine how the car connects to the next. Get those 6 bones correct and you should be OK.

the carfront and carrear bones i have :)

I used the CTR car tutorail and it doesnt say what the effect bone for the back wheels is called :( i didnt really understand why there was no but i thought rct3 figured that out :)
but you confirmed what i thought was the problem, now i just need to know the what the effectbone is called :)

they are "wheelrl" ane wheelrr" (think patterns: wheelfl = wheel Front Left, fr= Front Right, rl= Rear Left, and rr Rear Right) - and that info is in the english tutorial, along with other information, you might want to study it and experiment ;)

I'd personally make different LODs for the cars, keeping the detailed one for the close-ups and making reduced polygon versions for the lower versions.

A first step for this would be to remove the 3D trimmings (the black stripes) and just let the texture do the work there, then I'd go further and remove the "thinkness" of the car's walls (hide the seats, then remove the interior parts of the cars- you could even use an alpha version of the texture and not have to actualy model the door opening shapes).

But that's up to you...

The idea is to have lower polygon models for lower power computers AND for when the ride is viewed at different distances. yep i know that, that was what i ment with more models :) a high poly, a medium and a low poly when zooming far out :)

I made a small update on the everest car, and started working on the back locomotive, though it still needs alot of work, some sides is missing and the car is turning the wrong way ;s

You know, this looks great! I love the look. If your going to put a locomotive on it, I suggest looking at the one in thunder run at Canada's wonderland. The mine cars look much like yours, and ti could be cool if the loco was recolourable!

I can't just use these cars with the Mine Train coaster already in game? There a whole new coaster? If not can you make it so these can be used with the Mine Train in game, I just wanted to replace the Train and little mine carts with these to it resemble the River King Mine Train.
