Hi everybody and Happy new year!!
this is the hi-res model of the space mountain cars

many people have some problem with th SM set that the reason why I work on it again.

Gadget, You have such beautifull modeling skills. They far surpas me and most people here. Those renders are very nice. You might be able to get away setting that as a highest LOD when up very close, say 1 sq away?

That looks awesome! How many Polygons are each car? I would try and use it as a CTR. As long as you have a pretty powerful computer the worse that can probably happen is the game crashes. You can tell looking at edges in the model its not insanely Polygon heavy.

I know from other things that Gadget knows how to model and keep things efficient, while stile looking awesome ;)

Gadget, You have such beautifull modeling skills. They far surpas me and most people here. Those renders are very nice. You might be able to get away setting that as a highest LOD when up very close, say 1 sq away?
you really don't want a value lower than 12 (modeling units- 3 RCT3 squares in game) because the slider LOD selection in the game's Graphics settings is not that sensitive (it's an issue with mouse resolution- how much movement of the mouse before a change registers- RCT3's mouse resolution is rather low).

My own experiments on LOD values for something like this would suggest settings of 12~16 for high, 32~48 for the next, and 256~384 for the third. Since this is an indoor coaster, the third one might be best at something like 96~ to 128 (which will still show on screen for a considerable distance - the polygon count of the successive lower detail models would ultimately determine the lower LODs' values.

I plane to make some LODs but I have to reduce the poly count for the Hi res one. this way i ll cut the polygon count for the lowest model

for this Hres model it currently have 4000 plys
that is high also if you dont have a big computer dont (forget that my space count more than 60 000 polys ^^)

but it not the final ctr of course!

I think they're only silver(they do look white on the picture) since the real ones also are only silver, though recolorable versions would be awesome, they would look sick in black instead of silver:D

no, not two missions, but there were two types at one time. For a while in a certain year, they made the Space Mountain (2005-now) at Disneyland, Rockin Space Mountain, but after awhile, they went back to normal

Gadget, your pictures in the first post are too big. I fixed the first one, please fix the second one by replacing the IMG tags with shot tags. Also, do not double post. There is an edit button as well as a multi-quote button to use. Thanks.

:mad:so, this is what I did:

I have Vista.

-I installed python 2.5 on C:\.

-I downloaded blender 2.46 ( archive type)note that its the same thing with 2.47 and 2.48 version.

-I extracted the blender 2.46 archive on my DESKTOP.

-I get the rct3-blender-scripts-svn130 from belgabor and extract it on :
C:\Users\Gadget\Desktop\blender-2.46-windows\.blender\scripts\rct3-blender-scripts-svn130 , that mean there is a subfolder in the scripts folder :confused:.

-when i start blender python run correctly
( checking for installed Python...got it!)

- after preparing my model to export in modxml
i tried Object > Scripts > [modxml]set objectexport name whose seems to work(no python errors)
three other scripts in object menu, generate python errors!!

-Finally when I run the export tool
( File> Export > Model XML (.modxml) v1.1):cry:

-or when I try to change scripts files location (e.g. put 13 files (include readme) directly in the script folder)

Try to put your plugin here:
C:\Users\Gadget\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts

I think it should be works now!

PS: AppData is a hidden folder so, activate them!

Tu devrais mettre tes plugins ici:
C:\Users\Gadget\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts

Sinon tes trains sont magnifiques!

PS: Appdata est un dossier caché donc active les!

lil problem


so this is my two txt file for test
the game crashes why?

when i put e.g. "kart " in Cartypename field the track works and the car i created is not there!! when my car is alone (like in the txt ) there is no station slope turns, just a piece of straight part...the game crashes when I try to place her:cry: maybe Im tired I cant see my mistake !! need help!

Apologies, I cannot help with your problem.

However, what I've seen is fantastic! Your modeling and texture skills are unmatched here (save for Old Spice, Vodhin and a very few select others). I cannot wait to see this in action in game!

Now this might be personal, but what is your occupation? What do you do for a living? If it's not something in 3D design or even Video Game design, then it's real unfortunate. You surely have the talent for it and the attention to detail, plus you're well educated in 3dsmax (right?) and many companies, including game developers use similar tools, and I think designing levels and characters for video games would be a lot more fun, satisfying, and using much more powerful engines than RCT3 would be much easier to get your desired model. ;)

Again fantastic work! It's amazing things look like this now, considering how they looked just 3-4 years ago when the game was actually released.

This is a car error. Your car name is not written correctly. Make sure that you have the same exact name as your Car folder (the one where you put under TrackedRide Cars) as you do where it asks you to put the car name in the bahndaten.

actually, you could have the platform of your choice there: look in (RCT3 directory) tracks > Platforms > Vanilla and then look at the names there: you'll note that there are groups of platform sections - just use the base name of your choice (like particle effect names, do not include the .common/ .unique text; and do not use the longer names, the ones that end in _data). Not all platforms may be available or work properly, and I usually include the same name I use for PriorityStationType in the BahnDaten text file, just to be sure...

You see Markus and Errt along with others are in charge of all this super crazy CTR-ness and has given us what we need for CTR Cars/Rides. They have more information then all of us on this forums combined. They also try there extreme hardest to not let any information slip out.

axelf/axelr = Axel Front / Axel Rear Model a "train truck" mesh with the wheel set attached, like the one you found in the above picture, and assign it to a bone calledaxelf (for the front) axelr (if there's a need for a rear end).

The last picture is what the "rearcar" model is that you seen in the "WagonDaten" text files of the CTR Creator (I think).

The linkfront/linkrear refer to bones that indicate where the cars connect- which you already have.

Coaster cars can use the Inverse Kinetic Wheel bones (at least they work in my experiments) but that means a new bone for each wheel. that amounts to a lot of bones and I don't think is how it should be done - I think frontier used a special animated texture for their wheels (I have not seen any IK bones on any of the coaster cars I've looked at). Essentially, the idea would be something like an animated texture where the frame rate of the animation is controled by model's movement on the track....

2. restraints can be animated, though you need to add the correctly named bones, then create the needed animation sequences (also probably named the same as the in game cars' BAN)...

3. I'm not sure what you mean. In that pic the train is using nothing more than a seperate mesh for that part in the same model (multiple groups) and that mesh is assigned to the axelf bone.

Axels do not work like this. Axels are a separate model, not a mesh assigned to the bone. Afaik, you cannot do this with the current version of CTR_Creator.

On 1 you are correct. And I already told gadget in a pm that the automatic wheel texture animation will be available in the next Importer/ovlmake release. You cannot do coaster wheel bones with ik because they always rotate forward, so it's impossible to create under or side-wheels.

On 2, the restraint bone names do not matter. You only need to animate them, assign the animation to your LODs and in the WagenDaten file say which animation to use (by 0-based ordinal number).

On 3, see above.

These really are phenomenal! The model is ridiculously detailed, and the textures are quite awesome. The only thing I don't like is that the only textures seem to be exclusively Disney based. I don't know if you would be willing to make a version without the logos (since this car could really be used for any generic space-themed ride), but I think that would really be the icing on this delicious cake (if you know what I mean, it's kind of an American expression).

I really can't wait to use these in RCT3; the possibilities that these cars offer for sci-fi themed rides are seemingly endless. Phenomenal job!

What do you mean, the effect bones or the link cars themselves?
The effect bones are not necessary, if they are not present, the link car attaches to carfront/rear like other cars.
But carfront/rear define the extents of the car, so you should use linkfront/rear if the link car should attach within the extents of a car.

do you make all your own textures? what software do tou use because on close look its the textures that give it that great detail.

all texture are draw by hand (for this project) i often use ref pics for texture making

in this case all is draw by hand with photoshop and a sensitive pen tablet!!

you are very good at it. BTW phosothop cs5 private beta signup is available , i'd take a look :) infact ive already signed up. Im trying to start from scratch at CS making so im going to have to learn texture mapping and making and 3dsmax :)

oh god not the American version of rnrc its rubbish(and i have ridden it) do the space mountain trains in the California one or these examples California screamin, test track, expedition Everest and Disney monorail Mark VII i can assure you its better than that usa RNRC and that's my worst rides of all time compare to the one in Paris same layout its just fantastic wonder why riding it 10 times and smm2 32 times
btw i love the train and i hope some one puts it to good use

Wow! Simply phenomenal! Really, I must say that the textures on the Rock n Roller Coaster car are probally the most complex and best textures I have ever seen from a CTR. They look so good in game and the Space Mountain cars go perfectly with your Space Mountain Dome/set. It all looks so great.

These are amazing. They will be a great addition to the space mountain set. I never would have thought cars this realistic looking would ever be available in RCT3. Well, we might not be able to make really accurate tracks, but at least the scenery and cars will look great.
