(Correct thread, I hope?)

I'm nowhere near being able to do CFR's & CTR's... I'm still trying to get back to CS after a couple year sabatical due to work.

While studying and researching CS to catch up though, I keep wondering about this idea:

How about using a CFRor CTR as a "preshow" for another ride? Any thoughts on the matter? I've done this before succesfully, but it's usually pointless to have one ride exit to anothers entrance unless the first is an actual "preshow" for the overall attraction.

My main inspiration is the Wizard of Oz thread that Simbolism, Grav (Ytivarg), CP Diva, and myself were working on way back when...

[Actually, it's what killed the project. We were trying to figure out a ride "preshow" to lead to the rest of the park (Oz) from Kansas]

So perhaps the Haunted Mansion would be a better example.

In the case of the Haunted Mansions, a custom elevator (ie, the stretching protrait room, with FX ) , whose exit leads directly to the entrance of another ride. (The actual doom-buggy ride)

By all means, I'm NOT making a request of any kind.

What I am doing is hoping someone might want to give this a try. In all my years visiting the RCT3 forums I've never seen anyone use one ride as a preshow for another ride. I'd LOVE to see where it goes and how it works out! :D Hope some one likes the idea.... and Good Luck!

Here's a VERY quick picture to show what I mean. I kept it very vanilla & Basic on purpose to show what I mean. In the pic the elevator (stretching room) leads directly to the Cheshire Cat Ride (the Doom Buggies.) An "emergency exit" may or may not be supplied between the elevator and the actual ride.

Like I said, It's not a request, just something I've never seen done yet- and something I think the CS/CFR/CTR pros would have a lot of fun with now that CS/CFR/CTR's have come so far. Can you imagine the possibilities???

Have Fun!

flat rides cannot have an entrance/ exit on different levels, that is for a custom track ride (which may not be available et, if it is i still don't think you can do what you are suggesting :haha:), however you could make preshows, but they would basically just walk in, stand (have some kinda moving scenery stuff or whatever) and then walk out again..

That's what I've been thinking. Perhaps I should have stated that that's why I thought of the elevator. But that would be a Track ride, though... Wouldn't it? :mefiant15:

I guess that's what I was imagining...

A custom elevator car, possibly with effects, that basically "put on a show " as the peeps descended. In the Oz case it would have been the tornado particle effect I created, with stationary scenery around it for the houses, peeps, cows, and other debris. In the mansion it would be a stretching room, where the car was the bottom half and the top track piece would be hidden by the top half of the room. (Hmm.... Time to email Simbolism for the old Oz files. I have an idea... :wink2: )
Once again, it was just a thought; I'm just curious, & trying to throw a couple ideas out there. :) It was intentially a "noobish" question... Just wanted to hear other peoples thoughts. :p

I don't know much about Custom rides, but I do know what you are implying would mean combining three rides. The only other thought I could think of is a custom entrance onto the ride, but I don't think that is really possible since you can only have a limited amount of custom entrances I was told.

Putting three rides together is mainly having an entrance far from the main ride. Like you stated with the haunted mansion the entrance would be at the stretching room/elevator. After the elevator ride down peeps would walk as if they were in the aquarium or along a golf course. After that, still on the ride, the would line up to get on the doom buggies, or ride at the end.

With the recent CTR creator I noticed they mentioned combining two different tracks. Maybe it's possible to combine three rides. Guess we will have to find out.

This is a good idea, except that peeps don't like it when you force them to ride a ride, and you can't, they'll just stand there.

If the queue line starts where the exit is, they will go on that ride.

Not necessarily...I've tried it and some peeps get angry and lost and eventually you have an enormous crowd all collect on that one tile...

The best way around it is to also include a "chicken exit" from the exit of the pre-show that bypasses the entrance of the ride. (Not that I've tried it for my next ride or anything like that... ;) )

i'm thinking just put the price down and the exitment enormuslyy high (like you can on CFR'S, not sure about CTR's) and people won't be able to resist :p

The mad house was already done, so would it be possible to have a custom stretching room even a "fake" one like the WDW version to give peeps a reason to stand in one spot for a bit before heading down the queue to the actual ride? The WDW Haunted Mansion's stretch room is not an elevator, the walls and ceiling rise giving the illusion of the room stretching or you going down. You exit the stretch room on the same level that you entered. The DL version in Anaheim is an actual elevator.

This, if achieved correctly, could be yet another amazing breakthrough in RCT3. I, admittedly, a bit of a perfectionist, so I believe it would be a very cool thing to have in place of simply putting the ride entrance at the exit of the "preshow." (whatever it may be, but that's a whole 'nother story) Because you would then, assuming you have a chicken exit, have a constant flow of peeps going through the attraction via the chicken exit, and the ride will only get about half of the peeps it normally would. So if it is possible to have a custom ride of some sort act as a queue line, that would be a lot of fun to work with.

Camera trickery can be used to achieve the effect of a preshow in the queue of an attraction, in fact I am working on that right now with my Indiana Jones ride, but it simply is not satisfying enough. :)
