the folder CTR_IndyV2 shall be placed in the directory RCT3/Cars/TrackedRideCars
and the folder CTR_IndyV2 on Extended shall be placed in the Tracks/TrackedRides directory


NOTE: THIS CTR WORKS FOR USERS WITH SOAKED AND WILD ONLY! WHETHER BOTH EXPANSIONS, OR RCT3 PLATINUM. PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN OF A GAME CRASHING IF U DO NOT HAVE BOTH EXPANSIONS!V2 of this CTR does not include a track for non-wild users... if you do not have wild, MAKE A TRACK (BAHNDATEN) USING THIS CTR (THIS WILL DEACTIVATE THE WILD-ONLY PART (unless you activate the robocoaster flag), or GO OUT AND BUY THE EXPANSIONS!!!

All I said was "maybe someone is". You guys never know what the designers are up to. I personally know of several cool projects at least being discussed. Indy Jeeps were mentioned but I don't think anything has happened yet. There are still some bugs being worked out with CTRs using the position angles...so I bet it'll be a while before we see any more rides with angle controls.

By the way, great start, Thatonekid! My suggestions are...try round wheels by sandwiching alphas and maybe work a tad on the overall texturing...maybe make it look more dirty and scuffed up?

I have actually found one texture of some scuffed up metal that I am probably going to use, but i still need to work on the shading. Currently I am trying to get the animations to work but the importer does not like xml I have written... plus I need to figure out how to arrange and identify them in the WagenDaten file

Looks really good. However, there are a few things that could be improved (I think so). The wheels look very square-ish, try to make them more round as Fisherman suggests. And the fact that the wheels aren't attached to the body makes it look a tad unrealistic.

This looks good, except change the station type, that station doesn't work with those wheels, you want one with more space on each side, that would make it fit nicer.

probably, but is everyone talking about emv functions that could be set by the user? Because I could write emv-like animations, but they would be the same every time.

I could talk to Belgabor and Markus Lomberg though, for animations that can be set in-game by the user

^You could probably use the robo-coaster functions to set it so the user could set what the motion is at certain parts of the track just like you can with the robo-coaster.

As i said before, I fixed the station, just I forgot to reimport the CTR...

Looks great! here are some suggestions.

Try making it a different track, such as the extended track, for more possibilities.

Also don't be afraid of LODs and add some detail such as the cargo in the back of the car and some of the minor details in the front of the car.

Don't know if this is possible, but can you make the track and station invisible? If so, it would look much better.



Absolutely CANNOT wait for the EMV functions if you can pull them off!

I agree with him, I hope DasMatze fixes the rotation problem sooner or later, it would be perfect for haunted mansion recreations.

^They look perfectly sized. If you've ever been on the ride, you would see how large the cars are compared to the passengers. Plus, it rides on a chassis which bounces it to the side and up and down, so that makes it even larger than a normal jeep transport. So yes, it is quite large in real life.

I have gotten most of the EMV functions on this ctr working!

right now I have set up for 3 axes that can be edited...

2 are working

1. a side to side axis, useful for making the car "drift" on turns
2. a forward and back "teeter totter", the front tips up when the back dips down and vice versa
3. not working right now, a side to side "teeter totter"


To Do list:

get the 3rd axis working
separate the wheels from the chassis so they dont move (to make it more accurate to the ride)

I've recently found out that you can't change the direction of the robotjoints. so #1 is on the z-axis (up), #2 and #3 are on the y-axis (sides) and #4 is on the x-axis (forward). So you have to take robotjoint 4 for the side to side rotation.

And to Dasmatze... The angles can be changed from the three basic axes:up: (I had to rotate the bone to get the side to side banking working)

Ok, I will probably be releasing several versions of the CFR, including a non EMV version for those people without Soaked! and Wild!

Right now I have separated the wheels from the chassis for the rotations (except for the "drift" one) so that it is closer to the actual ride.

Other than that, I am going to add headlights and probably release it.... But right now it it is suffering from Mysterious Extra Car Syndrome, so I have to get that sorted out first.

The car, although bulky, looks pretty accurate to the real thing. The real transport is, i think, even more bulky than this one. The car can use some touch-ups, though. Maybe you could find some more detailed textures and just fix up the sharp corners. But that could be done later, at least you got the EMV to work!

i have two questions:

1) can it rotate on a left right axis? meaning can it tilit to the left or right
2) I noticed in the video that the car wheels run right through the track railing when it sways and turns and such. is this how the final will be? Have you considered altering the look of the track itself? maybe get ride of the edge railing of the track or something.

I have solved The Mysterious Extra Car Problem, and put in headlights, meaning that this CTR is almost ready for release!!!

Only things left to do:

Change the lighting of the headlights
Add an icon

A list of the versions of this CTR I am going to release

1. The shown CTR on the Ghost Train track w/ lights
2. The Ghost Train track EMV without lights
3. An EMV version w/ coaster physics (no constant speed) on Extended track
4. A non EMV version on Ghost Train tracks w/ lights (for people who dont have Soaked! and Wild!)
5. A non EMV on Ghost train without lights

Anything else you would like to see, ask.

How did everyone like the silent release?

To everyone, let me clear things up... You do not need to have RCT3 Platinum, I just said that because that is the game that comes with the two expansion packs. As long as you have both expansions it will work for you.

Also, I will be remodeling this and probably releasing a ver 2.0 with more detail, better model, better textures... So keep watching the thread.

But a few comments on the car thus far after using it:

When editing the movement of the car(not the track, the car) the movement does not show up in blue as a preview, it simply stays the same, yet the car completes the movement when you test it out of construction mode. Is this supposed to happen, or can you fix it?

That's about the only problem I found. I also realized I dislike the headlights because they completely glare out the POV view. Sadly, single beam headlights are not possible in RCT3, so there is no way to fix this. But the movements of the car are amazingly smooth and I have almost recreated the Indy ride movements up to the hall of promise exactly thanks to your car! And it looks perfect! Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this. I really appreciate it.

Yeah I tried to work out some better headlights, but it didn't quite work, so I instead took out the headlights for the second car...

I switched from Ghost Train (TackBased03) to Trackbased02 just before the release because I did not know about TB02 before and found it slightly more versatile having steep slopes, and I liked the log bumps...

Press the down banked key, place a piece, then place a station.

good job overall, but i have a couple comments. when doing rotational things, the cars wheels go into the car itself if you rotate it like more than 20 on some of the axes. it's jsut a weird glitch.

It's not exactly a glitch... I programmed it so that the wheels only moved with the drift rotation. I felt it was more realistic that way, and if I hadn't done that the wheels would be lifting up and sinking into the ground for every rotation...


BTW to everyone... I realized I didnt do such a great job with the cameras right after I released these, so bear with while I get those fixed for the next version...

Remember, the jeep also had hydrolics, so when you animate it to move around, make sure that it moves around like it's actual counterpart.

I made a model earlier in solid works, i know it has more round shapes than RCT will alow but here is a picture for reference incase you wanted to update your vehicle...

The only thing that really bothers me is the way the front fender just floats there, other than that the new remodel looks great! As for the lap bar, I would go with 1.

If you can I would change the texture of the vehicle to a darker brown. I would add some dimension to the grill, like pop it out a bit. and finally your first aid box I would add one to the other side and make it brown as if it where a tool box or make it a brown, dark tan, or a military type green first aid box. but overall it looks fabulous! I definitely wish I had the time and knowledge to design rides for RCT. And on your question about the bars, I would try all silver with brown tips maybe... I also like option 3. By the way on the ride they are just stationary.

The tool box, I added just after the last update because I saw a pic of the real thing, and it has two red boxes on either side. I honestly would just get rid of the steering wheel all together.. Its just an un-needed detail that you will most likely never see. Plus it just adds to the poly count.

Also the seats need to be a lot bigger. The peeps are not anorexic. :)

There is only one steering wheel on the far left seat.

I meant the bottom, where the peeps actually sit. Not the backrest. It's just kind of short.

does anyone else think that this car would be better on the safari jeep track thing?? (the one with the mud tracks) ive never been on the ride so idk if it has inclines.

Great Job!!! i'D Say grey wheels because they look like theyre a little dirty or dusty from offroading etc :)

because at that point in the ride the wheel spin animation is not going, and the mistake I made in the animation wasnt causing the wheels to be underground like in the other pictures

this is the wierd glitch with the robocoaster that gave me so much trouble.
if you look at the ride window, that is the way the model should be with the bone structure that i have set up. but I had to set an translation offset of the chassis for the actual car to look right.

A lot of you probably dont understand, but thats ok...

The red kits on the engine are strapped with leather, and it would be a lot more realistic if the seats were the real color, which is tan. also there is a heap of junk, partially covered in a tarp on the back of the jeeps, I will send you a short video I took. One more thing: The steering wheens are abnormally large, so large infact both me and the person next to me were holding onto it comfortably the entire ride :P (I sat in the front on the far left)

Oh, just noticed a lot of people above having the same issue... maybe the track is wrong? Because when trying to place it, it is on a default inverted roller coaster track - not a dark ride track like in your photos... I'm guessing that may be the problem? V.3 is looking great, wish I could use this set though... looks fun to fiddle with! ^^
