Hey.

After have been playing RCT3 for years now, I decided that it was about time that I began to learn how to make cs/cfr's and ctr's.:D

In the last couple of days, I've been testing SketchUp - I know that some of you would say that this is the most bad modelling program you can get concerning the huge amount of faces this program tends to make, but it was the only one I could figure out how to model with.

I've been reading a couple of tutorials, but right now, most of what they explain are mainly nonsense to me:bulb: By posting my little project here, I hope that some of you pro. guys could or would help me raise my skills.

The ride I am trying to make is an easy version of Tivoli Garden's new ride Vertigo CLICK (http://www.tivoli.dk/composite-7906.htm), and this is what I got so far:

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/7059/30242731k.jpg (http://img15.imageshack.us/my.php?image=30242731k.jpg)

Btw. I've two unsolved problems that I can't find the answer to.

Is there an easier way to take screenshots in SketchUp than pressing Print Screen?
How many meters are 1H in the game or reversely?

I hope that you do make this ride steffen because all my friends have told me that this is amazing ride and i am looking forward to see it in RCT3.

1. There is something in SketchUp, I just forget what its called and how o get therfe ATM.
2. 1M = 1H
3. Wathc your poly counts.

1H = 1M, print screen takes shots or an outside program (hypercam) or ZDsoft..

rofl! Everyone answered at the same time!

lil note (looks like you're faces are backwards)

Looks nice! ;D Although you need to watch the poly count! The circle support for the arm will add a lot of of polys to the model, you need to make it an octagon or something to reduce the poly count then it won't lag up the game as much! :) Just a note: You will need to learn how to use blender to animate the model so you might be better off learning how to model in it aswell if you're only just starting to learn! :D

There we have a big problem - Blender does not work. I tried to install it, but every time I opened it, the screen just turned black and a message said something about a program not installed, and that (program) I couldn't find.

I'll try to re-render the circle, but wont a octagon or another multi-edged form be very un-smooth in the game?

Funnily Enought. i have the plans for this ride in orhtographic (anyone who knows texhnical drawing will nkow what that is) orthographic is a view of the front and side and top view of the ride :)

a couple of things here

1. screenshots in sketchup: File/Export/2d Graphic

2. Backwards faces: all faces created in sketchup are one-sided in RCT3 (unless DS texture is applied), the white side is shown, blue side is not. To reverse the faces, Right Click/Reverse Faces

3. Dont worry about Blender, try reinstalling it. If that does not work, you can easily do everything you need for a CFR without Blender. Thats what I did

Another way would be to right click on a white face and select orient faces, this should make all the blue faces white (the right way round)

To lower polys o circles, see this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9R2N0nNb7I

What a coincidence! But I'm sure that my version of it will be smaller than yours. It's only 10 meters high..

Thanks for the screenshot advice - that was a lot easier than the print screen.
After re-installing Blender several times, I finally succeeded in making it run, so now that shouldn't be a problem any more.

Thanks for the tip. All faces should be blue now.

That was the biggest help ever! Thank you so much for posting it.:D

New should I say faces friendly arm support. The face count went from 98 to 61:D

Looks very impressive, but for a beginner you might struggle at the importing/animating stage, it could have been a better idea to try cs first...

Alas, I hope it works out for you mate!

thats what i was thinking ^^

Also it looks like quite a complex ride to animate, perhaps make it into a simple invert ride like so:
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh311/morgan2609/Drayton%20Manor%20-%20June%202008/SL270837.jpg
Plus i think something like this would be very popular due to the fact that there so common.

I was thinking so too, but I couldn't come up with any cs so make, so instead I decided that I might as well could learn it in the hard way:p

It wont be a Vertigo clone; just a swing ride ala Screaming Swing, but a version that inverts - just like you've suggested.

Hm, then I misunderstood something.. Now they are all white. :D

It has only been 3 days since he updated this, don't expect him to do some things on it every day, so don't rush him!
A ride from Tivoli Gardens... Tivoli Gardens? Argh! I hate that park, that's way too expensive!

Yes, I'm still working on it, but I'm not so fast; I'm having a little troubles with the modelling of the seats:sour:

I'm still trying to figure out how to make seats + I've been rather busy the last week, so not much has happened.

I've decided that I'll make a few Cs-sets first.. The 1st. set is very close to being finished; I actually just have to get back to RCT3 and SketchUp again to make the last things on it and then import it:D
The 2nd. set is slowly progressing, but again, I have to get back to the game (I've been a little tired of it lately, but I feel that my RCT3 spirit is rising inside me again:p
