To answer some of your questions:

All the textures were hand-made by me.
I can assure you that the track type will be quite useful and will allow for diverse layouts and splash-downs.
I recall there were some troubles getting custom water rides to work...have they worked out those bugs with the latest creator?

-Derek

I, honestly, do not know. I have not experienced any difficulties as of yet.

I'm so excited to use them! I'm gettnig my graphics card for sure before the release!

To answer some of your questions:

Rctman12 is making a Big Thunder Mountain CTR to go along with Krakatoa_Coo's Big Thunder Mountain CS set, I am making a Splash Mountain flume log CTR. So confusing. :p
Looks AWESOME!! What I meant by 'difficulties' was that the custom track could not be opened...only tested...or something like that. Have you tested it with peeps riding yet? :)

I'm soooo looking forward to this...wow...

-Derek
When I first finished the model, I did. It seemed to work just fine, then again, it was not really on a water-ride track. ;)
This is sweet! Could there be 2 versions, one with the rabbit, and one without?

~ Shaggy
I intended to keep the logs generic, only similar to that of Disney World in shape and seating. That way, the user would not feel they are exclusive to Splash Mountain recreations. It is a minor detail, if it is desired, I could see about adding one.
could you make the Disneyland versions? theres really not that much of a difference but it could be easy. just a suggestion
Quite a difference actually, a whole new model and new textures would be necessary. So, not right now, I have other things in the works.

I am still steadily progressing on this, I am working on adding more details to fit the logs to the track. Levels of detail still need to be made along with working out some effects.

Thanks, guys.

One thing this needs to have a recolor able options. But this does look great!
I do not think I will be making it re-colorable. There are not too many more colors a log can be and some of the detail in the texture is likely to be lost.

I have been working on track covers for added realism in the flume designs. I will make these re-colorable.

Not that I'm being picky but theres a twig on the back and a rabbit in the front both are very important to us for operations purposes. We use the twig to lasso and tow logs back to a safe location for guest to exit durring evacuations cause some scenes do not have catwalk on either side of the trough, like the Showboat scene. The rabbit is used for comunication between ourselves "operations" and maintainance we have red hoods and green hoods that we put on the heads of the bunnies to designate which logs are operational and nonoperational meaning we've either found a show issue or a safety issue with the log but more often than not someone had a protein spill in it or went #1. "that's right those of you who drank the water, it happens quite often." I understand if you can't do it for poly reasons I just wanted to mention that they are not just there for design, and share some info with ya.

I have 2 questions:

1) When are you going to release this?

AND

2) Is it possible you can make a pack with some more scenery from the actual ride as well mas possibly (though it would be awesome, might not be possible) to build the actual Mountain in sections so that it can form around the actual ride?

I hope you don't mind PB&J if I answer the simple questions? I know you have a lot on your mind right now, and you have a lot to do :)

1. He will release it when its ready. As of now, the car itself is the #1 priority right now. So the cars will be released as soon as possible.

2. No, I don't think so. It is possible. But this car was made for many uses, not just Splash Mountain. So, there will most not be any other items from the ride.

This would probably be up to you... It's no fun making a ride and not really designing it. If you want to do a splash mountain recreation, it's up to you to theme it!

I would love to, but:

1) Google Sketch Up is giving me problems (though I will just look at tutorials again)

I really appreciate all the support, everyone!

Now, to answer some questions:

RCInsider and abercrombiehart, if you guys would like to make an entire Splash Mountain, feel free. I ask that you start your own thread in the CS forum when the time comes and you keep the discussion to Private or Profile messages to keep this thread from bumping to the top of the page.

I don't think the recolorable textures would look as good, myself. As for the track... Wow, that looks awesome! Perfect texture/dimensions, I'm looking forward to this CTR!
I was aiming for flexibility, I'll have to see how they look in re-colorable textures.

I understand if you can't do it for poly reasons I just wanted to mention that they are not just there for design, and share some info with ya.

Hey, thanks for writing that up! I didn't pay much attention to the little stick in the back. Now there is one in place for rescuing. For the rabbit, I posted earlier about that, I looked into adding one after reading your comment. He's difficult to find a side profile of for an alpha! As of now, the logs remain hare-less. :haha:

These track covers will fit JUST these Splash Mountain cars, right? They won't fit any other type of car?
Yes, it is very unlikely they will fit anything else.

Due to some matters that are coming up in my life, I will not be able to continue this project for some time. I can assure you this project is not dead nor do I intend to let it die. It should be back and running by summer's end, but that is not definite.
With those circumstances at hand, I have put together a beta. This beta contains only the CTR; the track covers are not included. I still have many more effects and features planned for this CTR. Unfortunately, I could not include them in the beta with the limited time I have.

The CTRs in this beta are complex in some ways, I will explain the functions of the two different cars:

The raised version will be included in the final release. It functions by placing the station at an even "height." This allows the track to be submerged in the water two "heights."
The lowered version will not be included in the final release and is included in the beta to compensate for the lack of track covers. It functions by placing the station at an odd "height." This allows the track to be submerged in the water one "height."
Currently, there is no water braking. I intended to add this feature, but due to some odd glitches with splash bones (They cause water braking), it will not be added until I can successfully use them. Therefore, brakes will be necessary to slow the cars down after drops.

If there are any questions, I would be glad to answer them.

On to the in-game shots!

I did that in a few minutes.
I used Nuclear Fish's particle effects to make the Drop more realistic, and Imagine – Flume Covers V2:00 for the track.
I would say those two sets are an essential for this CTR. So download those as well! Both of them can be found in the Complete List of Custom Scenery.

Can these go on a log flume?

I completely agree. I understand that you are going through a lot from your previous message but when you pick this project back up, can you make it into an actual water ride. The corkscrew track is ok for now ;)

Also, when I zoom out you can't see the car anymore. Is there a way that I can fix that?

Did you just put the downloaded files into the directories? If so, you must take the files IN the folders out, and put those files into the correct folders. I made that mistake my first time I downloaded it.

Also, PB&J told me a while ago that they are to large for the log flume track. The splash boats would work though. I also would wait till he picks this back up. He has some awesome surprises!

PB&J
06-12-2009, 11:41 PM
Mmmk, a bit of confusion, it seems:

The logs are on the corkscrew track, yes, that is correct. Do not let the track type fool you, it is more than capable of being a water ride. I am using this track type for these reasons:

It supports water braking, unlike many other tracks. This fact may have changed. As I know right now, it is only one of a few.
It is a compact track and will be easy to design track covers around.
It is capable of all the elements found on Splash Mountain.

If you would like these cars on the Log Flume track, I ask you to add them yourself. I will not be adding them for these reasons:

It is ugly, unrealistic, and useless.
It is a very bulky track.
It is incapable of the elements found on Splash Mountain.

As of right now, I ask you to bear with the beta and hold tight until I can get this project rolling again and release some track covers.

Were do we put the icons? I know it says it in the read-me but I don't get it. Nice log flume logs.
The modification of the BahnDaten folder is not necessary at all unless your intent is to modify the CTR. If that is what you would like, extract the contents or the folder to where ever you please being sure the .ovl files are kept in the same directory as CTR_BahnDaten_PBJFlume.
Also, when I zoom out you can't see the car anymore. Is there a way that I can fix that?
There are not currently real LODs, there are false ones that should keep that from happening, though. How far out are you zooming and where is your "Draw Distance" set?

disneyfan506
06-14-2009, 11:40 AM

that way you will have some splash when going down the drops..

For some reason, the water brake won't work. Does anyone else have this problem?

Coaster Freak
06-14-2009, 12:34 PM
There is no water brake.

For some reason (When I tested it with the water brake) it slowed it down way to fast. And you could barely get around turns in the water. So it was taken off. So when you go down a hill you need to use brakes to slow it down.

PB&J
06-14-2009, 01:25 PM
To answer that water braking question:

I shall quote my post:
Currently, there is no water braking. I intended to add this feature, but due to some odd glitches with splash bones (They cause water braking), it will not be added until I can successfully use them. Therefore, brakes will be necessary to slow the cars down after drops.
I mean i love the track too but it be a little better if you had some water tracks just like it has on the water coaster...

that way you will have some splash when going down the drops..
There will not be splashes either way if that is what you crave. Splash bones cause water braking in my experiences and they are not included in the mesh due to odd glitches.
For some reason, the water brake won't work. Does anyone else have this problem?
Not only what CF said, but for some reason the splash would not turn off even when out of water. An odd case, indeed!

wow amazing CTR. Downloading now!
may i ask a quick question. in the CTR creator how did you get the track to go under water for the water brake to work? what text did you put in?
I used the "Clearance" setting to allow the track two "heights" of submersion in water.

damn thats a good idea making that for a corkscrew coaster since you can make steeper lifts and drops LOL! oh is that bahn data thing necessary if you install the other 2 folders??? or is that if u want to put the cars on another tack?

For those who are having problems installing...

You need to take the files INSIDE the folders (Track folder and Car folder), and out them into the directories listed.

Okay, that sounds better! :D

Many of you seem to be encountering similar problems:

When installing, it is necessary to open the "Cars" and "Tracks" folders and extract the CONTENTS to the directories. This seems to be commonly over-read. If you are still having issues, check to make sure you installed to the correct directories or use the CTR Creator to install. If you just can not find the CTR in-game, it is located under the "Roller Coaster" button with the name "Large Flume Logs." If you still can not figure it out, explain in detail your installation process.

The modification of the BahnDaten folder is not necessary at all unless your intent is to modify the CTR. If that is what you would like, extract the contents or the folder to where ever you please being sure the .ovl files are kept in the same directory as CTR_BahnDaten_PBJFlume.

PB&J, can you tell me what you think of my comment please because you did not answer me.
I intend to keep them as seen on page two.

how do you specify thisin the CTR editor? do you just put the height like '2'?

Its in the Coasters section, and it has its own icon... Its a picture of the boat. Did you follow the directions exactly? Because you probably made a mistake if you cant find it in game.

Downloading now..cant wait to tinker with this CTR...

its seems like every summer someone creates some epic Disney scenery...a couple years back was the Cinderella Castle...last year was Gadgets SM2 and Mattatt's DLSP..and now a ride i never even thought couls possibly have such a realistic car..Splash Mountain

RCT3 really has come very far(:

cant wait to see what else you make PB&J

I don't like the CTR. When I tested it to replace a ride in one of my parks the car was like three feet (game wise) above the track and I was completely the wrong track for a Log flume.

the reason the cars raised above the track is so you can submerge the actual track underwater and use track covers to make realistic or specific water tracks like in splash mountain...very ingenious PB&J i really like your track and cant wait to make a recreation(:

One thing though...if you were to make a Splash Mountain recreation though how would you position the loading station in RCT3...because even though the station can be placed underwater the entrance and exit cant...

Still a great CTR (:

On the real ride, the station is actually above water. You go down a little dip into the water.

Hey guys i'm back from Disney World

PB&J: I got your picture of Brer Rabbit on the front of the log, might be a little bright because of the flash, but its still pretty readable

One more thing, while I was on my way back from disney, I was playing around with RCT3 trying to recreate the Big Drop, and when I tried to set the track to more or less 52 feet (the actual height of the real life drop) i got to about 59-60 feet, and it still looked like a puny drop in RCT 3, if someone were to recreate the ride would they be using actual measurements and dimensions? Or would they exaggerate certain parts of the ride?

and again track folder in track/tracked-rides

and dont do anything with the BahnDatan folder

[Nothing happens] i can't find that icon in game / the ride .. i'll try the last thing
_____________________________________________________
Number 3 thing i do ..

the same as number 2

but now i put the BahnDatan folder in Style/Themed

now my game crashes at the intro every time.... and i delete the folders every time i try something new :(

ok well im going again to WDW this weekend so im gonna try to get a better side profile...also PB&J you used Blender to model your CTR right?

Btw if anyone is up for it i found a good blueprint of SM for anyone who wants to make the track, please serious enquiries only..and PM me if your interested

P.P.S: Also PB&J is it possible for you to create diagonal loading station pieces? Because on the blueprint the actual loading dock is on a diagonal

I think i found the one flaw with this CTR..although having the car float above the track would make the flume look more realistic, when the cars in the station the car is still floating...how would that work with the entrance and exits, cause you cant exactly sink the loading area into the ground because then you cant have entrances or exits....

That will be great. No, I used Sketchup. Hmmm...diagonal station pieces? Not right now. This CTR is not meant strictly for Splash Mountain recreations either.

Well, we'll just have to see how it works out. ;)

You probably explained it fine there, but I just don't understand. How do I physically "submerge" the roller coaster track into water? Like say, if I was making a Splash Mtn. recreation, how would I get the logs to float through the water as if there wasn't the track underneath? Like the RCT3 log flume ride... I am just confused... sorry.

You must start by raising the station one height. Then slope the track down into the water so the track drops two heights. I hope that helps. :)
