TEST TRACK CARS (Updated and Reamastered)

I have added rear lights, Changed the wheel texture so that it looks like it could be moving or stopped at any time (thanks to gamer2456), made the glass a bit more realistic, and smoothed out all of the edges! I can really notice the difference in the headrests! I have also lowered the popularity of the ride to 100. I hope you enjoy and tell me what ya think!

This is great mate , i recommend placing them on Extended Coaster (: Lim Coaster. So you can Speed them up and Slow Down with Block Breaks. But Extended Coaster is Better For Turning. If you placed it onto any old Indoor Ride Like for instance the Haunted Mansion Styled Track it wouldn't work well unless you speed the cars up from settings to something like 20mph but it have to stay at that speed for the duration of the ride so use ^^ It would work nicely.

Idea: Can you make a Track Cover Like Test Track so you cant see the extented Coaster and make other items like Lorrie,Cones,Freezer,Toxic room, I cant think of anymore because i havent rode the ride in real life but scene many recreations and Videos of the ride and my brothers there right now :D so he would tell me about it (:

I agree about the track covers too and I'm really excited about this because it has been in the request thread for so long. Maybe now somebody might build the Journey to the Center of the Earth Cars!

cool, Thanks for all the compliments! When I get to the track part Ill post it to you all. I always get kind of confused when it comes to the track pieces. Always getting wierd errors and stuff when trying to add stuff like launch hills!

Can you make a Track Cover Like Test Track so you cant see the extented Coaster and make other items like Lorrie,Cones,Freezer,Toxic room, I cant think of anymore because i havent rode the ride in real life but scene many recreations and Videos of the ride and my brothers there right now :D so he would tell me about it (:

The only thing I dont know about is the Windshield, I might have to redo that. I have to detail a few small areas like the back of the car and the dash board, and then Im gonna start testing in game, once it is coming out good and I have a good number of faces. I'm going to texture it and then finalize it and put it for upload. Hopefully it should be done by tomorrow if I have no complications.

Im not sure how all that works, but I do know the faces are one sided on the windshield, so from inside you can see through, Ill try and figure out the transparency textures though.

One suggestion I do have to lower the poly use texture sandwitch for them right wheel high if do I say get same look but lower poly count. Make the wheel about 10mm part in sketchup you may to do 4 or 5 faces but it will look full with low polys and here link for tutorial on how do it.

I dont really understand this, whats the alpha texture?

Also how do I make the glass? Is that an option in the importer?

hmm, I understand it better, but it still seems somewhat complicated... lol

PROBLEM 1. I am having a problem with the car appearing in the track even though I raised the car on the Y axis in sketchup... Here is an example.

hmm... I know one way of fixing it would be by putting a small line underneath the car which would would cause the game to center the car higher, but I have a feeling there is an easier way...

The wheel/fl/fr/rl/rr bones align the model to the track... adjust the position of those bones in relation to the vehicle to adjust the vehicle's position on the track.

I'm assuming you're getting a glow from your lights, but you can't see the bulb.

The syntax looks ok for multiple lights, but you used the "nb" before lightstart
of you want the glow and bulb, take off the nb, if you want the bulb without the glow, use simplelightstart.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)

CTRs- seem to have just the first NBlightstart or lightstart enabled (and then only on the fron car when the ride is a train)- all other effect points should work if they are simplelightstart variety, but only one glowing point is possible as far as I know.

Just to be sure, make sure that all light effect bones are in numerical order and consecutive (no missing numbers).

Ill give this a shot. If I do this right I should have several lights like on your great racers as shown HERE (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=679861)? And I will only have one emitting light, but the rest will still look like lights? :noob: If thats so, that would go almost perfect, the only real emission I need is in the front of the car where the main headlights are!

EDIT : THE lights ARE now WORKING!!!

That worked in sketchup, but then when I imported into RCT3 the glass looked the same as before... Im gonna keep messing with it, but I dont know if that works...

31 textures? I think you need a lesson on texture mapping.

first: textures use up the most memory in the graphics card, so you should try to optomize your textures by laying out a texture map, like so:

Second reason for texture mapping has to do with vertix mapping (UV) when seperate textures are used, then seperate meshes (groups) are needed, and in plases where you are adding detail, you end up doubling the vertex count, which leads to lower in-game performance.

I see... When taking pictures of the model, is there any easy way to get all the dimensions right? It sounds like it could be kind of hard getting it aligned perfectly.

And if ypu use partcle effects like bibbles from the nuclearfish CS pack, will they be visible form the car ? Because i noticed that trough glass in RCT3 (for example, from the submarine car) you cannot see the Bubble effects of the Nuclearfish particle effect CSO.

The glass does not appear in the car because I only have one face, which is facing outward.

You made a good point, some things do not show through the glass.

So what I am going to do, is revert back to my old model and have the glass completely see through on the inside of the car. And then have the glass on the exterior, but with a low opacity like so.

Other than that the model is finished, it should be uploaded in the next 20-30mins if everything works out as planned! I will be working on a lower texture model that I will be releasing sometime in the near future!

This is wicked sick! The only thing that seemed to be a problem was the fact that the station platform was too small. If there was a way that could be fixed it would make this cooler cause the light post goes through the cars. Other than that this CTR is awesome.

you should have given it a robocoaster bank angle so the banks could be more than the three options of the extended track

i agree with azanderz, if you have way way way too many, the game can crash. but its about the faces. I would suggest 500 as a popular amount becuz 1000 is just crazy.

Trust me, its not over 200. I sat and fast forwarded time for like 5 mins to get that line... It was also my only ride in the park, and you really dont want a ride that no one wants to ride... Havent you ever been to Disneyworld!!! lol

There is nothing wrong with it, I thought the same thing. It appears that there are two different car types. The lower one is so that you can put road type scenery under the track and lower the draw dist. on the ride so that the track is invisible and it looks like the car is at ground level

Yep, exactly what he said! I made two versions of the car just incase the Test Track covers were never released. Switch to the second car to have it appear on the track.

The car drives inside the track O_O

It is not in the track, that was made so it looks like it is driving on the ground (If you make the track invisible). There is also a second car that is on the track...

Actually, it is in the track.... I can see the bar things go right through the car.

lol, I mean if you make the track invisible, it looks like a car driving on the ground... If you switch the car there is one on the track! haha, thats funny...

all you have to do is switch the car and its on the track :)

and i miss all that population! now i get half the crowds i had :( ha

There is a readme file in the download, make sure you downloaded the New Version.

"Luigi's CTR Test Track Car!

To install...

Put the folder "CTR_TestTrack" into the
"rollercoaster tycoon 3gold\tracks\TrackedRides" Folder.

Put the folders "CTR_TTCar1" and "CTR_TTCar1OnTrack"
into the "rollercoaster tycoon 3 gold\Cars\TrackedRideCars" Folder.

Yes, When I click it it frezzez my computer so i have to hit control, alt, delete

It depends where you have it installed, mine is here...
